Negative reviews that rip into terrible movies are fun and all, but I really like the positive ones you've been putting out, even of movies I've never heard of before, like this one. And after all, in my opinion, overrating a movie is way more fun than underrating one
As someone who constantly overlooks things as "oh, that was probably a production mistake / editing error", this is the kind of film that really breaks my brain. Loved your take on it!
Ooh, congrats and best of luck with the degree! I'm always happy when you post a review, regardless of how long there is between them. You have such taste in movies that I always know that when you have something good to say about a movie, I can look forward to enjoying it myself!
When I originally saw this was the video you were reviewing I was disappointed. After watching the review, I completely changed my mind and love the video. Good to see you back! Mind opened!
It's a shame he's not more popular. Sure there's a bit less jokes and stuff but he goes into great detail and puts in a lot of effort even for movies he doesn't like, while still trying to give some positive aspects too. Edit:He's got a bit of movies up but they're mostly in the line of lovecraftian or horror\supernatural. If you're a fan I'd certainly recommend his demon knight review and maybe the prophecy.
Dear God, I just realized how much I missed your reviews Deusdaecon, your interpretations of certain "plot holes" in movies, the way your mind works, as well as your movie reviewing style in general. It 's been a long time I saw your review, and I truly hope you 'll get back soon with more content. Greetings from Croatia!!!!
It looks like you lost some wieight, good on you! I have always liked our videos and this is the first one that I have commented on. You bring not only nostalgia but I appreciate the research that you bring to your reviews. I am a big fan!
Very interesting. Nice too see your still at it deus. Will think about adding it to my watch list as long as i feel like i can handle all the thinking lol
So glad to see a new video! You're one of my absolute fave critics. Your voice is very lovely, and you're very insightful and intelligent in your film analysis. I've caught myself going "oh wow" a few times in how you phrase and explain certain things. Very great stuff, man.
I appreciate you doing this. I did see this but don't remember anything about it which is a shame.Halfwy through the review I am reminded of the reveal. This was such a solid film and I appreciate your insight as usual.
Really glad to see a review from you here. I don't have enough free time to ever make the stream unfortunately, so it's good to be able to catch you here, two weeks late, in the middle of the night when I should be sleeping because I have to be up in 3 hours for a flight. Lol
Happy new years good sir. I don't know why UA-cam doesn't notify me on new uploads but I'm glad to see your still uploading great content. Here's to another year.
Nicely done. You're not the only one who liked this movie, it wasn't the greatest but it was well thought out and it is obvious the director cared about this movie. I came to the same conclusions as you did they make more sense than sloppy direction.
15:38 and im answering the question. to me it would seem like she wanted to have another go at getting the guys number so if she kills her sister then he prolly has the same sorta connection as before and will attend the funeral and she gets another chance. Dunno what that has to do with being a nutter tho.
This guy gives more insight into films than anyone I've ever seen. He is the dam Sherlock Holmes of pointing out plot holes as well. Another great review!
On MKUltra, it actually started in 1953 basically under the name project artichoke, basically the same thing giving drugs to try and induce amnesia and control people. Oh answer to the weird murder test... I'm going to say she was just going to anyway for some reason, it's about as likely as any other answer based on the lack of information.
The part that confuses if me is why she went through all the effort of framing John just to then confirm he was innocent. Doesn't seem like she needed to buy time or anything.
Love the new look, and thought I'm one year late (according to what I see here for when this review was made), as always enjoyed your reviews. Looking at the Deus site, I don't see any more recent reviews. Are any in the making? ***Just saw the end of this and Deus Daecon's statement that h's working on a forensics degree***
There is one review after this, Return to OZ, very proud of that video, so give it watch if your interested and yes I am currently at uni, but I'm coming to the end of my first year and will soon have a lot of time for more videos, Hellraiser 2022 will be the first, there is also the twitch stream, which is mostly gaming like tonights stream, but every saturday theres the horror short bingo, were I watch around 6 horror shorts and discuss them, kind like 6 mini reviews every saturday which you might also enjoy, 8pm GMT.
Hmm this looks like something I would enjoy even with knowledge you provided. I did find it odd that none of the books had any labels and were all similar colour. Good luck at school and happy holidays.
Any smart psychologist wouldn't allow something like a metronome of the patient's to be running imo. Also usually you visit the Psychologist/psychiatrist so you're in THEIR space, and you need to show a willingness to GO for the meeting... at least that's what I THINK is the reason for that. And John ain't exactly smart. He is a mind-delver and should really have been on the extreme end studying all he could on how the mind works, psychology-knowhow, etc. etc. Also it's very interesting how John initially is very 'sticking to the facts', but slowly loses that 'seatedness' - Going from not believing Anna on much of anything she says, to actively dismiss clear evidence from outside-sources that disputes Anna's statements or just gets handwaved away by her. It's quite cleverly done by the movie cuz if Anna WAS innocent, you could really easily get a very similar storypath after all. It also shows how dangerous a master manipulator can be - cuz Anna basically bends John around her little finger the moment she understands and learns how to control her memories and slowly take away all of John's control, sense of thought (he basically stop being critical about the facts and such... cuz he never thought about calling the police when Anna had called about a problem at home which sounded extremely suspect), etc.
Excellent review. And the peak into your streaming was fun. "It's Valheim, for God's sake. It doesn't have to look pretty just as long as it fucking works!" Exactly.
14:43 I've never heard that one. Isn't the only logical answer that she kills her sister (another relative) to cause another funeral so she might meet the man again, since they met at her mother's funeral. How is that a test??
I'm just kind of wondering (and posting this at 29:53), but if John saw Anna somewhere she couldn't have been, doesn't that suggest she was watching his memories? I know they said 'she wouldn't recognize him', but maybe he recognized her because he's a memorystalker (or whatever). Just spitballing here.
I didn't get a chance to add my theory to this but I suspect that was Anna testing the connection to John, she can come out of it when ever she wants without Jhon known so its reasonable to assume to can go back in at will too, its never said that close proximity is particularly needed
