I had one of these bikes when I was 20.... that was 35 years ago. Bike looked ahead of it's time. Many thanks for the memories, mine was derestricted and I remember Edinburgh city bypass with the needle above 90mph. This also brough back the first day that I had it and I never knew what a power band was!!!
I also rode one when I was 18 and thought similar, it rode so well too that's why I decided to get one myself 35 years later but then sold it as I've no room in the garage with 3 bikes in the family lol.. Great power band on them especially when your not expecting it!
From the Netherlands here. I bought one 3 months ago. from 1983 (80cc and Malossi 110cc Cyl.) Does about 70/75Mph. It's very cool and a lot of people come up to me and compliment me on it. I know they are popular but I never expected so many people love them. I can't park it anywhere without 5/6 people swarming towards it. Loving it! Good luck with your Mbx mate. Looking good it is!. Cheers, a Dutchie.
Hi Dutchie, sounds like you have found a nice example, not many of them about these days and are very sought after bikes, I sold mine after and have just the Yamaha MT09 SP now and a Suzuki GSX 600F which I'm trying to get running....Ride safe bro..
In my then 16-year old eyes, the mbx80 was a demi god. I had the opportunity to ride one who was slightly tuned to +/- 100km/h. Impressive power compared to a puch maxi 50. I had a few light motorcycles (125-650cc), but i still adore 80's mopeds and motorcycles.
Can't beat the sound of a 2 stroke engine, even more being a retro 80's example, Cheers buddy, I try ride in respect to other road users as we fellow bikers do....
Had this one, import from zwitserland 15 hp . Got a problem with the cdi, lose contacts. Could not get a new replacement, secondhand absurd expensive. Got a tip to put the cdi in an oven, low temperature. I had spark again😂
The Rd's and and RG's were the bikes in their day, I rode one of these back in 1987/88 and then it seemed a lot faster than this one, but saying that I rode a Suzuki GP100 back in the day and now a Yamaha MT09 so this would seem a little slow to today's bike..
First bike i owned back in 1995, i was 17 then. Brought it up to 170kmh. Was such fun bike :)

I got MBX when I was 16 in early 90's. Acceleration feeled strong on that age. Top speed was 125-130kmh.

It worked so happy days, Hard to find parts these days but I'm sure someone out there has a shed full of them..
Nice little 2 Stroke. I love ist. Greetings from Germany.
Honda 2 stroke rarer now than hens teeth I remember these and the 50 and 80 cc I had an 80lc Yamaha now that's super rare to.
Very rarely they come up for sale, I've seen a couple of the 50's and one 80 come up in the last few years and a couple of the 125's..
Algeria had boat load of those back when 80’s they were great bikes quieter as well
Everything's going up up up

I love h9ondas but in these day the rd and RG where king, this seems so slow its more like a 50 or 80cc
