Basically the main villian was a virus(later revealed to be the same villain from RPM) hacked into a system when Red and Yellow morphed. Basically draining the life outta them and leaving them in a coma while evil android versions of them became secondary villians and the android red ranger was crimson colored.
While the crests are part of what makes their design cooler than average rangers, the thing that puts the Thunder Rangers above the Wind Rangers is the shoulder pads. They compliment the crests and make the suit feel more complete without being too bulky.
I know I do. Just like their suits they always felt like the darker and edgier members of the Ninja Storm team. The back story for them always resonated with me.

I was such a big fan of the Thunder Rangers. I really liked the cliche of the Enemies turned Friends trope Power Rangers as a kid. Like with MMPR Green Ranger Tommy and White Dino Ranger in Dino Thunder lol

Ninjas Storm, Dino Thunder, and SPD were the best of the best in my opinion followed up by everything that came before. It should be noted while Ninja storm wasn’t the first series with 2 red rangers it was the first with both 2 reds and 2 Blues simultaneously.
This season is definitely up there for me it's one of the most memorable from my childhood. Hunter and Blake's Character development was incredible and when they morphed I knew it was about to go down. The thunder rangers were a super badass concept the darkness and gritiness of it was great. Truly two of my favourite rangers from any series awesome video thanks for making me relive great memories.

The thunder rangers are definitely top 5 all time for me. They would of been even better if they was permanently evil and never joined the wind rangers.

Plus, they were one of the strongest teams. After all they had control over the elements. There were times where they gave off a Dragon Ball Z-esque vibe with their some of their styles of attacks.
These Thunder Rangers were impressive! It's a shame that a third Thunder Ranger(an Amber Thunder Ranger) was never used! She would have fit in perfectly!!!!
I wonder what happened to Blake parents, because they were never mentioned to be dead. In anywhere in this season, so which mean they could technically still be a live. And maybe he choose not to look for them?
I never really thought of that of what, happened to Blake’s parents or family. Whether they were dead or alive, and why was he adopted by the Bradley family. Like were they also in the Thunder Academy or they were just friend of Hunter’s parents.
It may be an unpopular opinion but I never managed to get into Ninja Storm. I may give the Season another try. I really liked the crossover with Dino Thunder though.

Wonderful video on The Thunder Storm Rangers. These two rangers have also been two rangers I enjoyed to see in Ninja Storm. Blake and Hunter's ranger costumes were really a nice change of pace and the zords that the two of them piloted reminded me in some ways of the machines from Big Bad Beetle Borgs. However when Blake and Hunter's zords combined they form one really cool Megazord.
The thunder rangers are top 5 all time favorite rangers of all time for me for how good they was as the bad rangers. Everything about them as villians was second to none and they would of been even better if they remained villians and never joined the wind rangers. They was still cool as the good guys but no where near the same empact that they had as villians.
You're right it definitely looked more Burgundy on TV, but "Crimson Ranger" sounds like it would sell more Power Ranger toys than "Burgundy Ranger" is my guess lol
Originally the crew were gonna add a third member for the Thunder Rangers. A Yellow Tan version to make it equal. Basically an American exclusive ranger like the Titanium Ranger. Apparently it was scrapped.
They did come back in the end of super megaforce for the final battle they just weren’t with the wind rangers for some reason if you look all the way to the left when they are all doing the ninja streak you can see them
I would love a spin off of them where they get to form a full team of 5 or 6 and continue the beetle theme and the theme of their colors being a different hue than what is typical of rangers of their color. So perhaps a lime or a lighter green, a darker and deeper yellow, a pearl colored white and perhaps a gold. As for the beetles, there are tons of beetles to choose from. I might be okay with other insects but given that two are beetles it might feel imbalanced to not keep all of them specifically beetles and the idea of a less broad theme is one I am a fan of.
The Thunder Rangers always reminded me of Kamen Riders. The costumes are very interesting. They come off as dark reflections of the Wind Rangers. I remember one Halloween dressing up as the Crimson Thunder Ranger. Even had a morpher to go with the suit.
These guys are what the Beetleborgs would have been if their suits were Rangerfied. Which begs the question, will you ever do characters and lore of other shows similar to PR?

My favorite are the Dragonzord, the Red dragon Thunder Zord (without the armor of the other zords) and the Storm mega zord in lighting mode.
