We’re excited to share that in late November we’re releasing a new battery, named Enduro, for HERO10 and HERO9 cameras. Enduro will be available as a $24.99 spare battery upgrade and features revolutionary technology that dramatically improves your GoPro’s performance in cold temperatures (snow sports, for example) while also significantly extending recording times in moderate temperatures.
At a battery temperature of 14F / -10C (note: this is the battery’s temperature, it can be even colder outside), with HERO10 Black the Enduro battery enables, on average, 56 minutes of 5.3K60 video, 50 minutes of 4K120 video, 76 minutes of 4K60 video and 115 minutes of 1080p30 video recording.
Enduro also significantly increases video recording time in moderate temperatures. For example, with HERO10 Black during typical outdoor activities at a temperature of 77F / 25C, the Enduro battery enables, on average, 60 minutes of 5.3K60 video (a 28% improvement over the standard battery), 51 minutes of 4K120 video (a 40% improvement over the standard battery), 71 minutes of 4K60 video (a 13% improvement over the standard battery) and 120 minutes of 1080p30 video recording.
And we’re also excited to announce that a new HERO10 firmware update is coming before the end of October. Thanks to customer feedback, we’ve learned many HERO10 users want the ability to record longer video clips in static situations without motion or airflow to cool the camera. Many have also had questions about how get the longest possible recording times while maximizing battery life.
The new HERO10 firmware update will introduce three new “Video Performance Modes” to help maximize HERO10’s performance depending on your use case:
1. Maximum Video Performance - Maximum video resolution and frame rates for the very best image quality and ultra slow-motion.
2. Extended Battery - Optimal video resolutions and frame rates for maximizing recording times and extending battery life.
3. Tripod / Stationary Video - Optimized for recording long video clips at the highest resolutions and frame rates when the camera is stationary without motion or airflow to cool the camera. GPS and HyperSmooth video stabilization are turned OFF in this mode.
The following is what users can expect to achieve, on average, in Tripod / Stationary Video mode recording a single continuous clip at a temperature of 77F / 25C in static situations without movement or airflow to cool the camera:
5.3K60 - 47% more runtime than previous for an average of 29 minute-long clips
5.3K30 - 11% more runtime than previous for an average of 44 minute-long clips
4K120 - 52% more runtime than previous for an average of 26 minute-long clips
4K60 - 154% more runtime than previous for an average of 63 minute-long clips
4K30 - 35% more runtime than previous for an average of 50 minute-long clips
A future firmware update will enable even longer clip lengths in 5.3K30 and 4K30. And if important for your use case, 2.7K and 1080p will enable significantly longer single clip recording times in either Extended Battery or Maximum Video Performance modes.
Stay tuned for more information on the November launch of the new Enduro battery and end of October release of the updated HERO10 firmware featuring the new Performance Video Modes. @gopro if you know the original battery is defective and doesn't serve it's intended purpose, why not just make the enduro battery the standard that comes with the new camera?

@@BoredProgression To be honest, I'm not good at noticing subtle differences in resolution, but the slo-mo is where I can really see the improvement. Those shots are just heavenly. I'm still running the Hero 8 Black because I very rarely make videos and just need something waterproof. I'll probably upgrade to the 10 by the time the 11 is out.

I'm super jealous, my local resort in southern alberta still doesn't have any snow on the ground. The 240 slow mo seems nice but other than that didn't notice much difference between the two gopros, other than the max lens mod seems to be mandatory when shooting back towards yourself (headroom is a personal pet peeve when filming myself).
Any chance you remember who sells the windmuff/deadcat? Bought some last year but they were junk.
Yeah, superview is a must with a selfie pole and mod lens is even better. I got these deadcats on Amazon. Had to cut them a tiny bit to fit better, but they lasted for me most of the season. And if they come off, they're inexpensive and come with a few extras. amzn.to/3BSRSYT

Damnnn, that is some good condition. GoPro still haven't fix their battery issue huh. I wish they integrate some kind of battery heater layer to keep the battery warm in cold weathers.

Switched up the settings a bunch but tried to list the basics on screen any time we did.
snow season just started here in colorado and my 10 turns off with battery low warning once it is under 46% on three different batteries. did you have similar issues. the max so far has been the only gopro that the battery keeps on going in the cold.
I didn’t get a low battery warning. Just the shut off.

Is there any way for me to figure out what settings I used on my go pro video 2 months ago? Because the settings I used last week were awful and I can't remember what I had it set to in January
Not really. You can tell what resolution it was and frame rate, but nothing else. I’d just change the default settings and never use them again.
Obviously hard to know after just minimal use but if money is out the window what go pro do I go for? Do you think higher is better? I like high video quality but battery life is probably must important to me. Thanks! 🙏
Very good point. If* the 10 works as it should, the 5k and higher frame rates make it the choice for me. Verdict is still out tho.
I have GoPro Hero 8 and when I was skiing in Alps it made same kind of shake attached it to my helmet as you have around 3 minute's mark. These new GoPro should have amazing stabilizers built-in and I have veen thinking what can cause such kind of weird shake. After this moment captures looked great 🤙
The 3:00 minute mark is a drone shot, and it looks pretty stable to me. 🤔

Dang, I thought GoPro had improved the cold weather performance of their batteries starting with the Hero 9... My Osmo Action works well at subzero temps but doesn't have the superwide angles or horizon levelling of the GoPro. Guess we'll have to see how the Action 2 performs...
Yeah the 9 was pretty good in the cold. The 10 has a new processor tho so we’ll see how it does long term.
Is the field of view the same on the 10 compared to the 9? Maybe i missed it but i didn't see any tests with the 10 mounted to the selfie stick. Really curious, I just ordered the 10 and I'm considering returning it and buying the Insta 360 one r.
It appears to be the same FOV but I didn’t do a proper comparison. Sorry. I can test that out and update you on that.

just saw around 7 minutes you did have the same issue as I did in the snow. it was not even that cold.
mine made it to under 50% battery and then shut off. so I would have to swap batteries.
no clue why it's happening as I can't recall the 9 doing it with the same batteries at that high a percentage.
the max never does. the 7 would with really cold days and if you use generic batteries.

Was your GoPro turning off because of over heating? Or supposed dead battery at 63 percent ?
It shouldn’t have been overheating at 35°F but I know people have had overheating issues under normal temps. No idea what caused it. I was in a lower resolution too. 2.7k. I think the overheating problem is more with the higher framerates/resolutions.
What do you use to protect your Sony camera when going down the mountain?

Looks great. Thank goodness another rider who actually outputs at a high bitrate with the gopro. So many bad reviews that don’t know what type of codecs or bit rates to output and upload in and then just blame UA-cam’s compression. Quality looks amazing. I’m getting one this winter and hitting up every Utah resort within a 2 week time span

@@BoredProgression yeah or they only upload in 1080p and then use the same excuse for the last decade'' not everyone has a 4k screen so they cant see the extra detail''. like dude, its alnost 2022, almost every tv sold now is 4k, most laptops and tablets are high resolution, and every smart phone has some type of retina or high rez screen. even then, higher rez means more future proof. plus downsampling. 4k downsampled to 1080p looks better than native 1080p, and last but not least, youtubes bit rate and compression is much better at 4k vs 1080p. heck a trick smart people have been doing is film a video in 1080p with a good camera and upload in 4k to youtube, so people can see a less compressed video

I disagree. I he 9 is perfectly fine, but the shot where I zoom in on Alex at 10:48 is a perfect example why the 5.3k is superior. If I did that with the 9 even at 4k the image would be pretty blurry.
In my opinion the 5.3k/60FPS was the best, followed by the Hero 9/2.7k/60FPS w/Superview. 👍
