- Before we head home from our big Europe Camper van adventure there was one place we needed to visit and that was the amazing Mont Saint Michel. The weather unfortunately was terrible with strong winds and icy rain but we took sanctuary in a cafe to try the local dish of Normandy a Gallette.
After taking the ferry from Calais to Dover and a very long drive back up North, I made it home to The Rum Wench - My Narrowboat home. I cruised for the first time in 2 month, in strong winds and made an absolute balls up of mooring up. Once I had calmed down with a lovely Rum it was time to look at how much this van adventure cost - Diesel prices, Campsite fees and Tolls

Winters in the UK can be miserable especially when living on a boat and with all the canal lock closures for maintenance, I began to feel a little trapped. So for the next 2 months I decided to join up with another fellow solo female traveller and set off across Europe in our two very old camper vans in search of sunshine and to experience Van life at it's best.
I hope you enjoy something a little different as I swap boat life for van life.

I have recently got myself a new addition to the crew, a fabulous companion - my little rescue dog Bonny who is an absolute joy and the perfect First Mate. I also work full time off grid from my tiny home and trade at canal festivals as The Narrowboat Pirate aboard The Pirate Boat.

No matter how great the vacation may be It’s always good to get back home. It must have been tough adjusting to the weather. That was the most amazing castle I have ever seen. The Wench started right up because of all of the great maintenance you perform on her.

All and all the spending were well worth it,obviously . For if you had not had your camper vans,imagine hotel cost 🤔🤔 lots. Staying in the camp sites are nice for what you needed,also those cost would have been a hotel cost. Not bad at all, Life happens. Really enjoyed your European trip - but to see you back on the cut with the help of strangers is so good!
From a retired boat Capt, here's a suggestion for docking in a wind like you had in the vid. Tie a long line onto the bow stanchion running down the side of the boat ur docking on. Put a bowline or the like (a large loop) in the end nearest you. Place the loop over a mooring ball on shore. Using the situation in the vid, give it right rudder and run up the engine to pull the boat's bow into the dock. It's a Springline method. Best Wishes.
Unfortunately there are no mooring bollards or that would have been easy 😃😃 we have to moor in, hold the rope then hammer our own pins in which single handed in 42 mph winds is very difficult 😃

So you took the boat across from France to England rather than the channel/tunnel. I know so little, can you tell us about that choice? Maybe in a future vlog?

Glad you went to Mont Saint Michel , we were once European Truck Racing at Le Mans , after being to the English version in my early 20s I had to see the French version certainly puts the English version to shame when you stand at the bottom it's like looking up at a skyscraper 😎

I have watched your channel for a while now and I can for sure say you got a 2 month vacation for what most people spend on a 2 week holiday to a resort which wouldn't show you even a quarter of what you experienced in your 2 months. Awesome trip all around and thank you for sharing!

Great trip ladies, I’m so glad you visited Mont Saint-Michel a truly magical place. The weather appeared rubbish while you were there but at least there weren’t as many tourists as when I visited.
It’s was 60 mph winds that day … I had so much footage that I couldn’t use because of wind noise 😂😂
Lovely vlogs, love 'em! Surprise to see you mooring in our spot by The Old Broken Cross, we were based at the Golden Nook until we moved to Germany. There were not so many new houses when we moored there. Keep them coming, we'll keep watching!

Hi Heidi Darlin,youre back after an epic trip and I'm back too .Yes I've done a binge of all your continental trip and I'm glad to say I'm pretty much back to my condition pre Stroke.I can't praise my two therapists and the Yoga too much ,they have been fabulous.
You've just done a trip of a lifetime and packed so much in ,I'm so envious .These days with the weather still wintry go to our local indoor walking track and do a few laps above the iice where there is always something to watch hockey for bids and family skating ..If you want a rest you can stop take a seat BS Wtch the kids playing even the Zamboni cleaning the ice. .Now I'm back to normal you can expect my usual saucy comments .Btw congratulations 35K subscribers ,quite a mile stone.Take care darlin get your palate tuned to Rum again instead wine .
