    the proper way to grab this router is close to the base not the top of it . the only way you were able to do this cut it was because the edge guide. putting your hand on top puts unnecessary pressure on the base that's why all the scratches on the base with just a single pass . putting your hand on the top also suffocates the router. I did get good info on been able to thigh properly by using the second wrench Thank you.

    I had one in my hand today at HF and was going to buy it, but I wanted to see reviews on it first. This would be perfect for me being I'm a newbie and I never owned one. I'll pick it up tomorrow , plus it was on sale. Thanks!

    That is soft Start. Not a speed issue.

    I went through 3 of these routers this spring (2023). They all had bad bearings near the collet that heated the unit up to the point that I couldn't hold it and the glue on the rubber grip pads softened up and let go. Took about 45 seconds to get that hot. I actually returned the last one so fast it was still too hot to touch when they checked it at the counter.

      What were you doing with it? Sounds like you need a full size router for what you need.

      @@ericnightmare2695 They were literally sitting on the bench with no load. Just spinning away cooking their own bearing grease. Funny you'd comment on this now, I actually bought the *new and improved* Hercules trim router two days ago and wouldn't ya know it, that one did the same thing.

      you will need a router with more power, like a 11 amp drill master - this is a trim router, meant to trim counter laminate and other very light work, see a comparison of HF routers - ua-cam.com/video/GCb_BEMysZs/v-deo.html - thanks for subscribing!

    Ours is labelled Trim Router. Same machine except for that and the cord is only 8 in long. Maybe it's my small hands but I find the ergonomics on it aren't great. No comfortable place to hold it. Works equally well for either left or right hand though. For the money it is a fine little machine.

    The warning not to touch the metal part is because the cord has no ground, so if a worn cord or any internal AC touches the metal case, possibly even if you aren't grounded, for sure if you are.
    I was in disbelief seeming this as UL requires grounded cord if there is a metal case. I see Makita has a similar design, Bosch has similar but the bottom metal is attached to a plastic upper where the AC is. Looks like Bower may do that too but Bosch has motor fully covered in plastic, Bower looks to be halfway covered. Im an Electrical engineer with 48 years experience and 8 yrs US Navy as Reactor Operator in Submarines and this seems like a not so safe design, but I haven't seen the internals so can't say its wrong. Does it say "UL Approval" on the box or VDE? VDE is the UL of Germany. Good review thank you

    It may have been "rocking" due to hold the router too high. I'm pretty sure that it can be held on to safely by the adjustable sleeve.

    • @snapwholeharborfreightreviews
      @snapwholeharborfreightreviews  Рік тому +1

      it was rocking because of the narrow base, I use this model in a cnc, take off the base the cylinder shape is perfect to mount in a CNC, its really a trim router, and I have other trim routers, so a good use for it, for me anyway, but it works great, I just have to be slow and careful to keep it from rocking

      it is a beefy trim router, so it doe snot have as much power as a regular router, but better performance than most trim routers - but I did not have any problems using it, although I do have to cut a little slower with some woods, I am happy with it, but I use my other routers for heavy duty use, or for extended use - thanks for subscribing!

    How do u open the hole for the bit

    • @snapwholeharborfreightreviews
      @snapwholeharborfreightreviews  Рік тому

      I am assuming you are having trouble with the collet compressing around a bit and not expanding back after you remove the bit ? if so, you can either force a bit back into the collet to expand it back out (not recommended) or use a knife blade to pry the each slot a tiny bit and with very very light force, the collet is very easy to break by prying too hard or too much - if my assumption is not correct, please provide more information for clarification - thanks for subscribing!

      This router will do anything a big router will do, but will require more attention to detail and patience to go slow, that being said, if you have anything doubts, I recommend the plunge chicago electric router, not much more in cost and has more power, a larger base, and will do plunge cuts better - Thanks for subscribing!

      One question? The base to get cut depth they don’t have a little window to see the measurements they have set so im assuming it’s the top of the metal before the collet. I put in a hingmate bit so maybe it’s longer and it’s throwing me off
