You should take your new haven pocket watch to a Watchmaker to have the bow replaced and to have the watch cleaned oiled and adjusted then you will be surprised how accurate it is and how nice it looks and runs. All vintage pocket watches ( the mechanical ones) need to be cleaned oiled adjusted at least once every 5 to 7 years otherwise they end up as your new haven is wound up but not running. Jewelers don't know anything about mechanical watches and charge a fortune to do anything with it always always take or ship vintage pocket watches to a watchmaker for repair or clean oil adjust they are reasonably priced they are highly trained and skilled in vintage pocket watches and do Exceptional work on them.
The cheap watches not ment to last are all.the quartz watches also the westclox Scotty that is what is referred to as a dollar watch when new sold for between 1 and 5 dollars ment to last 2 or 3 years at most most 9f them.are riveted movements near impossible to do any work at all...cleaning and oiling requires 100 percent complete dismantling of the pocket watch then clean in solvents dry clean by hand with tooth pick clean with solvent dry by hand examine repair or replace worn or broken parts oil reasembke then put on a timegrapher and adjusted tk best possible accuracy watch najer if no parts or repair needed charges 40 to 100 usd all in a jewler many start at 1000 usd just for clean oil adjust no repairs no parts.
