I think that James MacKenzie would make a great Doctor Who.
He was a great sport doing this! Raven was my favorite childhood program, and it did encourage me to be more outdoorsy than I otherwise would have been.
I completely agree
James MacKenzie seems like a great bloke. It's such an epic legacy to leave behind, such a great fantasy game show for kids and you could see when the kids were all doing the challenges, he was watching like a proud uncle. It was brilliant entertainment for kids and adults.
My childhood crush was Raven guys...oh my god. I loved Raven. My mum had to put up with that for a while
Some Girl42 ...I wasn't the only one then? :D
Great interview guys, very insightful. It's really cool to hear James talk about the kids as warriors. He obviously has a lot of respect for them and it seems like there was a great working relationship between those on the show
Kids are missing out by this programme not being on anymore
If this does well, hopefully not anymore.

I really want to see a version of the raven footage without any of the post.
Like the way he still refers to the contestants as warriors instead of just children
This video has 1 dislike.... damn it Nevar!
Now it's got two. Bloody two-faced Ervan!
I see 3 now, the third one has probably been disliked by a wood demon.
Warriors, I am observant to say UA-cam does not show the dislike number count anymore, to the delight of Raven.
amazing! i still wished i applied for alot of the old game shows back when i was a kid , 50/50, Jungle Run so classic
This is actually amazing and has made my day! I remember waking up and running to the tv to watch Raven before school when I was little, and I'm totally doing the same now, running home from lectures to watch it on youtube after uni
People at my uni watched it in our downtime, too.
thanks for the shout out guys! much appreciated!
I came here for confirmation that the secret temple was actually filmed in India and I was not disappointed
Raven was my favourite as a child and I still love it as an adult
The image of Raven staying in character at lunch makes me think of that sketch on Gina’s Laughing Gear where he’s deciding who’ll get “the last...piece...of toast!” 😂😂😂
Okay, let's try and sum up the plot of Dragon's Eye -
16 warriors are brought to a forest somewhere by Raven because the Dragon's Eye has been making all the tree people sad with it's annoyingly powerful, yet evil, presence. Seriously, who makes these things?! Nevar follows Raven because ultimate power and all that jazz. Then Ervan appears and acts shady for about eight episodes, turns out he's double crossing Raven and Nevar despite having worked for Nevar in the past and he steals Raven's staff and has these orange stones that act like mini nukes. The warriors get to the Eye, lots of them perish, Ervan tries to take the eye, Nevar kills Ervan, Ervan had a diary, Raven and Arkil win, everyone goes home... except CLIFFHANGER THAT WAS NEVER RESOLVED, Nevar is still alive!
Wow...
Gonna be honest here, you already lost me at tree people. - Penn
this is a brilliant video! thanks to James for doing this and thanks to you guys for organising this!!
Don't really understand the confusion over the dragon's eye?
The eye is a yellow orb which gives infinite power to anyone that holds it. It can also have an effect on anyone/anything nearby. Thus, the spirits of the forest had to cast an invisible barrier to protect themselves and the warriors from its darkness and evil. The aim of the quest was simply to stop this orb from falling into the wrong hands, namely Nevar & Ervan's by destroying it. Arkil rescues the eye and Raven destroys it, therefore meaning the spirits of the forest and everyone else for that matter is free from its darkness.
Amazing interview! So nice to see James still appreciates Raven! The event in the lake district that James mentioned is called FeatherFest. I was lucky enough to be involved in the project last year and played one of the six warriors in the production. I wore the Mountain emblem. Here is the link to the trailer that can be found on Ravenin3minutes channel: ua-cam.com/video/zHLsy4GJp3M/v-deo.html
I think the plot of Raven: The Dragon's Eye was:
Raven is called upon by the Tree Guardians at a forgotten kingdom. Inside the kingdom lies a powerful stone known as the Dragon's Eye (being protected in a breaking-down barrier) which could be used for dangerous deeds. It must be destroyed. So Raven calls upon young warriors to help him on his quest. However his old enemy, Nevar, wishes to gain the stone's power to take over the world and defeat Raven (of course). Unbeknownst to the two, one warrior from the past, Ervan, plays both sides to the tale in order to reclaim the stone for his own.
I think thats kind of about it. Aside from the little details like (precious red stones stolen from the Eye's chamber which open portals and become bombs when close to the stone's power, a village of lost young warriors, and Ervan switching Raven's staff in order to become more powerful than Raven or Nevar whilst waiting for the Stone to be found)
This was quite a great show to watch a kid. I know the raven is revived with a new raven which is fine. I do like how they did it. But I really do love the original Raven.
Hello there, I didn't know if you guys are aware but Raven is coming back to our screens soon! The BBC have described it as a "Reimagined Raven" We don't know how the series may be changing but in short the show Raven will be returning one way or another.
THIS SHOW WAS MY CHILDHOOD!!!! Love James Mackenzie. Total crush when I was younger....still a little bit now :P
I think the plot for the dragons eye (i watched all of it last night and this morning) is when nevar and ervan are trying to get to the forgotten kingdom to claim the dragons eye and then warriors that were split up into four teams (otters, wolves, eagles and bears) collected ancient stones in spirit trials (14 challenges in total for each team) and the spirits would allow a fallen comrade to be brought back once with the use of eight of their stones and if they failed to complete a challenge again, they would be lost from the quest (in real life i think they were sent home). Only one warrior, which was arkil claimed the dragons eye and won the title of the ultimate warrior and protector of the dragons eye before hareb (wolves came 2nd and was beaten to the key) and gydan (eagles came 3rd and he slipped on the balance beam and touched the deadly ground. I think gydan was my personal favourite.
Ps, if i asked cbbc, would they bring raven back one more time??
Well I have to say James Mackenzie is one of the greatest actors of all time. Raven is a great show. 18 warriors start in 3 groups of 6. 6 warriors play in the final week. I would rank the warriors on lives, rings and how they finished in each group. I would do the same for The Island and The Secret Temple.
I would also like to ask every Raven fan: If you were a warrior, what symbols would you be?
6 Symbols: Cloud, Moon, Mountain, Sun, Tree & Wave (Pick 2 Symbols, one for the heats and one for the final) I would choose Water for the heats and the Mountain for the final.
I love this guy so fucking much, responsible for so much joy in my childhood lmao. I gotta rewatch all of these.
Great interview! Loved this show whilst growing up.
RTDE was a continuation of the plot of the Island and the Secret Temple
Awesome video. These were the days. I miss Raven. Wish so much it would come back on T.V.
For Raven: The Dragon's Eye, it probably took a few years for Ervan to "steal" the eye after trying to claim it initially, hence Nevar was probably the last one to suffer the deadly gaze before it was definitely destroyed.
I feel bad for the bears in raven the dragons eye, cos they all got eliminated at the deadly ground where they had to use like these bales to get themselves across collecting stones on the way without touching the rope😅😅😂
It was so awkward when he was talking about what he’s working on at the moment 😂
How did you get this interview?! Oh my god, this is amazing!
EDIT - Also thank you very much for the shoutout. It's much appreciated and I'm still trying to get over the fact that James mentioned it first! (Also, it seems the channel link to my videos is broken in the description, half the link is not an actual link)
James also highlighted your series too!
Hi Billy, should be fixed now!
Also I sent him a tweet and it kind of snowballed!
Totally Excellent Visions The snowball effect truly does wonders for the world. You all look like you had a lot of fun!
Brilliant video guys!! Please track down Dave Benson Phillips next and get some answers :D
StartTheEngine I’d like to see them track down Laura Aikmen aka Mysti since no ones interviewed her about that role
Haha, I can tell it's kinda a surreal moment for you guys 😂
Simply fascinating!
Raven was sooooo good!!
This was actually so interesting!
I am so glad I watched this. Top bloke.
Why didn’t you guys ask which actor played nevar ? I know nagaswara played him in secret temple. Always curious who played nevar
Does anyone know if Nevar was played by this person: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akkineni_Nageswara_Rao . The character is credited in the Secret Temple as Nageswara Rao.
Always used to love watching these shows when I come home from school!!! Personally, the new show they’ve just created/rebooted, doesn’t look that great at all. Without the lives and just gold rings and no way of the warrior either and also reducing the amount of warriors in the show as well. Should have kept it the way it was!!!
your montages are always on point :D great production quality too
This show was sick
Fantastic interview
Quick question why have they never confirmed who the actor or actress is for Nevar ? I've always wondered who played nevar
Cut out of the interview, but it was a stunt man who was really really tall
Adharsh Ajikumar probably various people
I miss Raven so much Dx Still, great interview! :)
It is back
at the 0:33 mark he should've gone "THEN LET THE CHALLENGE...BEGIN!!!!"
Made a bet with myself he surely must be an extra on game of thrones but nah it ain't true. He definitely has the look.
Is he going to make any new episodes
No way did you manage this!
of course he wears a beret nowadays xD
Of raven
I just realized that nevar is raven backwards
My childhood :O
He looks really weird without a beard
Love it omg
Is he a good guy, is he a bad guy, we will never know!!!!......
NAVA APPROCHES!
I'm so pissed off, the BBC mess everything up they've casted a women to play Raven - like it won't be the same program without the male, Scottish accent as it creates the medieval vibe!! LIKE IF YOU WANNA CAST A WOMEN THEN CAST MHAIRI BLACK, SHE HAS THE PERFECT ACCENT FOR IT!!
James Mackenzie has worked alongside the new actress before (and will be also present in the new series on the 'lore' side of things) and she was a fan of the show growing up, so I'm certain he trusts her for the role.
Next thing you know they'll be able to fucking vote!
