You may wanna try a wire brush attachment on a drill for those rims. Check out a site on UA-cam called “Chris Fix”. The guy is excellent with instructions!! Enjoy and keep her alive.
I will mention! The mudflaps were designed goofy and trap water within them. The previous owner probably took them off to repair the rust and leave them off.
I got 2 90 degree elbows from the parts store and spliced them together using a small piece of straight plastic tubing. The elbows were made by Dorman and they only lasted a few months before cracking but it did work for the time being
I haven’t however I did pull back the cover and take a look at it. It’s been replaced before and it looks perfect. I think it may have been replaced right before it was parked

I got rid of the mud flaps on my 88 Z because I found they held a lot of the moisture that cause the rust smh.
Hopefully i can take what u replaced and somewhat view what i need to replace on my 88 2+2 i just purchased !
