Looking good Freddie !
Thank you Mike! Joe’s just yesterday uncovered one more very big problem, and he will share this soon, I’m very sure😳
@@FreddieDobbs Oh shyte. Hope it's solvable
🤞
_"Feeling good, Mikey !"_
@@hulkhatepunybanner Definitely 🤣
@@FreddieDobbsoh no, please don't put an episode out on that!
Joes channel has been a joy to watch seeing the progress made. Glad you 2 did a collaboration 😊
Thanks Tim!
Joe comes across as a really nice guy. It's one of those times when UA-cam massively helps both parties. Freddie is getting the bike properly fixed, Joe is getting the much deserved exposure and channel growth. It's got to be worth subcribing to Joe's channel, fascinating watching the progress.
You are right, this has massively helped Joe, because while Joe is a nice guy, he is not a natural and lacks charisma behind the camera, so this will really give him a boost and it's early days and people certainly get better as they go on.
@@user-yb9ww6lv7j I think he comes across great, it really isn’t easy to do but they key is he knows what he is talking about.
I do a few videos and I know they could be better but I only have a bike a couple of hours so its hard to cram it all in and be fully happy. Plus if he has a full time job it again takes so much time.
Your former mechanic must be shitting himself 😂
My thoughts exactly..😅
His former mechanic should pay part of the repairs (if not all of it), then should close shop and sod off.
Shocking to be charged so much for a repair, to then have the engine put back together and the timing being out. Basic mechanics!
@davidvadkrogh to be fair this is probably a 30 to 40 hour fix plus parts, he was probably giving good advice, glad Freddie found Joe
I think he is talking about the original mechanic who was meant to have fixed it.
The elephant in the room is kingdom motorcycles…. They literally put the bike back together wrong and haven’t even been mentioned?!??
My thoughts exactly however I am sure that Freddie will be talking to them and it will do no good at this stage to say anything on social media about them; keep your powder dry!
I think Freddie and Joe have to be careful what they say on social media for legal reasons. But we can all see the history of the Bonneville and what Joes has found. We can make our own minds up on the cause and previous mechanics.
They should be utterly ashamed and should have come forward to explained and amend. How embarrassing for them, so many things wrong, all school boy errors. But the good thing is Freddie and Joe have got some great content of it, it’s hot me and my Mrs hooked.
2 guys speaking English & yet, 2 entirely different languages....
Yes definitely
😂😂 perfect definition of this video😂😂
It’s true😆
Both English different dialect.
I believe he meant technical vs non-technical.@@mikerider58
I must say Freddie, you do a very good job of looking like you know what Joe is saying.
“ we are doing”😂😂😂
Ohh Freddie, I have been watching Joes magic hands & thoroughness from the first day he picked it up. He has been & will continue to be a master mechanic & a guide for others to do the right thing & fix motorcycles.
A pleasure to watch & learn from.
You’ll get back a fantastic new bike because Joe has touched it⭐️
I completely agree!🙂
Massive, massive props to Joe for being such a great and professional guy. I am really looking forward to seeing the (upgraded) Bonnie in all its glory again! 💪
Good to see a proper engineer, not just a technician/parts changer but someone who actually understands the workings of a motorcycle and is able to explain it in a way that is logical. Joes channel is superb, glad you both got together, can't wait to see the final results 👍
You can understand how the bike was truly uneconomical to repair for sure. Its only a labour of love to keep your old girl running and fortunately Joe's kindness in helping you. How could we all chip in even if a small amount a coffee or something with every subscriber would help?
Joe is a great friend! I am looking forward to visiting you all in September!
I'm so glad I've discovered Joe's channel. As a JCB mechanic who tinkers with the occasional bike, Joe's experience and knowledge is incredible. It would have taken me many many more hours to get to the point he's at now. Watching the repairs have also inspired me to repair a non running Kawasaki Er5 I got during lockdown and put in the back of the garage. I discovered yesterday low compression on both cylinders. So it's going to be a bigger fix than I imagined.
Joe's a flicking genius!
I do honestly think he is🙌🏻
This is what I think we all wanted to see happen to the Bonny; it's the channel mascot. Cheers Joe!
Interesting how Joe's work, besides actually fixing the issues, consisted in investigating and finding those faults left over by the previous butchers who've wrenched on the bike.
He's really good at what he's doing, plus an extra.
Freddie, go for the louder exhaust! :) and a bit of customization cannot hurt.
This is a point I’ve found so reassuring; a proper analysis and deep investigation of the bike👌🏻
@@FreddieDobbsThat 270-degree firing order on your bike deserves to be heard. They designed it to sound good.
The problem for “normal” workshops is cost of man hours. So this is a special opportunity for Freddie. Thanks to @TheWurks for his great job on the bike. I watched the progress on his channel and he definitely got a new follower 👍🏼
*...besides one's hearing.*
@@UA-camr-ku4nk No, this is basic stuff, the type of fault finding a jobbing mechanic, especially a specialist, should identify in a couple of hours. What this Gentleman has done, is meticulously chased down and rectified every anomaly as he has worked through..
'Joe, keep this as simple as possible for -me- our viewers.
🤣🤣 you’re bang on
Good to see the Bonneville back in the channel ❤❤
Thank you sir!!🖤🏍️
I am glad you keep us updated on the Bonnie! She absolutely deserves to be healthy and back on the road again soon!
This episode explains well that repairing a motorcycle is not always a matter of figuers 💰💰. Finding the right person sometimes makes all the difference. Congratulations Freddie on the find, congratulations Joe on the performance. 👍✌️
I can't wait for the next one. 😉
Joe clearly explaining what he’s done…. Freddie nodding sagely but thinking Joe is speaking Swahili 😂 Full credit to Joe for bringing the Bonnie back to life and with those upgrades Freddie she’s going to be great for a few more years yet 😊
Thanks to guys like @TheWurks. Definitely worth a follow and like on his videos!
Really looking forward to hear the engine when it’s finished.
The world needs more chaps like Joe. I had a mechanic who looked after my first car and helped me keep keep it on the road in a similar way. I was too young or naive to appreciate the value of what he did for me at the time, 40 years ago. Glad to hear that Bonnevilles are so bullet proof as I’m not planning on selling mine, it will probably be my last bike due to age 😅
Same here.
I'm 81 and have had my present Bonnie for 15 years now and it's never let me down once apart from when it ran out of petrol due to me not realising it was switched to "reserve".
Brilliant bikes.
I love reading this. I hope to keep mine forever🖤🏍️
@@FreddieDobbs With all the work that is going into getting in back on the road, it would be a crime to ever get rid of it.
It’s been lovely following along and I hope the Bonnie will be up and running soon. Joe seems not only got be a nice chap but also a very sound mechanic. But for the love of all things mechanical Freddie, take a weekends worth of mechanical courses! Surely you now understand the value of being able to do some things yourself (and properly)? Not to get you on Joes level but to be able to maintain what in essence will be a brand new bike.
Your Bonneville and other classic motor bikes are so much more interesting than the newer styles plastic ones. IMO these have a timeless style. and well worth fixing. Mechanical knowledge is sooooo important!
Freddie, you’ve hit the pot of gold with Joe. A good wrench is a blessing from above. The old Triumph is gonna be what you’ve wanted all along. A modern classic bike. Whatever the cost it’s gonna be worth it. Make all the changes. Be like a Harley guy and customize the hell out of it. You won’t be sorry. But honestly, you need to spend time in the shop with Joe and watch what he’s doing so you can get knowledge about all the things that are being replaced and why. You will be able to check problems as they arise if you have an understanding of the systems. When you get that bike back you will never want to buy another. And every test bike you ride will be compared to it. And they all will loose.
I have a Harley -can't afford to customise it, I'm too busy just trying to rectify all its issues and keep it on the road and reliable 'ISH.
Sweet! Thanks Joe for stepping up to fix Freddy’s bike. Look forward to seeing it up and running! 🇬🇧
Hats off to Joe at @TheWurks . He is truly the Motorbike 🏍️Doctor! Wonderful series of videos on Freddie’s Bonnie. Best of luck 🤞! Looking forward to see Freddie back on it!
This is why people don't sell bikes.
It's part of you now.
Bonded.
Trips to Morocco, good times and bad.
You look after your friends, not throw them on the scrapheap.
Great watch. And good work.
Following the progress on Joe's channel.
Ride safe and happy travels 👍
Gosh you know how to choose your soundtrack Freddie. Good luck for the Bonneville, with amazing Joe’s skills it will be back on the road beautifully.
This content is why I love biking so much. A bike that would have been trashed saved by a mechanic. People in the community helping others when all hope seems lost. I cannot wait till this summer when your riding the Bonnie again making videos.
This lad is the real deal - he's earned my subscription. Superb work.
So chuffed to see the Bonnie update…. Glad you didn’t get rid of it!!!
Loving this content on the triumph , Joes doing a fantastic job, I’m glued to Joes channel watching this transformation ❤
Thanks for the update. The Bonnie's rebuild is a win, win for Joe and Freddie's channels.
Absolutely loving this and of course I'm now on Joe's channel. Working my way through all of the videos both Freddie's and Joe's. It also giving me some appetite for a Triumph twin, I used to have a Speed Triple RS and had a loaner Thruxton RS which was great fun
I was thinking you should've bought a new bike for the longest time but now I'm thrilled that you are putting the old girl back together. And with some new performance parts even! Can't wait to hear how it sounds!
My brain 🧠 is just eating this info. The amount of these videos with Joe in it that I’ve saved for future reference is growing into a nice collection 👌🏻
Great job Joe!!
I have an 18 year old Speedmaster, looks and rides like a brand new bike. These engines are bullet proof if you look after them.
How wonderful! I'm sitting here watching with a huge grin on my face! Excellent! Well done Joe and well done Chris at UTP!
Those handle bars ❤
Good to see Joe's channel blowing up thanks to the Bonneville problems, he deserves it, look forward to it being back on the road, your videos are always so entertaining, i look forward to the next
This episode is just highlights how different motorcycling has become….. certainly up to the 80s, pretty much everyone that owned a bike had mechanical skills are they soon learnt…. Through manuals through friends….. often a few friends would get together and help each other… and of course bikes were lower tech….. today they are complex machines with all the sensors and gadgetry, and many owners don’t want to get their hands dirty or have the knowledge…… I’ve lost count of how many engines I prepared right down to the crankshaft, and up to, and including my 40s cars…… by then I was earning enough to pay someone to make repairs to my vehicles….
Anyone owning any vehicle today without mechanical knowledge, and wanting to keep it longer term have to consider the need for deeper pockets
I can't believe all that work has taken just 13hrs. Fantastic. Joe, what a guy.
All that technical talk and explanation of whats going to happen to the bike and Freddie's caressing those handlebars like there the crown Jewels 😀
Freddie - just tell me you're waiting on another base cylinder gasket so we can all have a good laugh.... 😂😂
Great find in Joe, excellent mechanic and seems like a really good guy. Brilliant to see Joe at work. Think you’ll need to start saving Freddie, looks expensive !
Such care and attention to detail. Nice to see a non throw away attitude. I have also thought about a bonny for myself now!
I'd have to finish with a specialty coffee and biscuit to calm myself down. You've been lucky to stumble across this gentleman. I also have little mechanical skills and have to "pay the piper." Can't wait to see the finished result. 👍👍5🏍🙋♂️
Great update Freddie. In Joe you’ve found a really good guy. It’s not always about the money. When that bikes finished the feeling will be amazing.
This is an example of youtube at its best. Informative without the constant influencer bs.
I've been following the work on Joe's channel and it really couldn't be in better hands. I'm so glad Joe reached out to you and that the bike is going to get a second chance and hopefully Joe will gain a lot of the recognition he deserves.
Price wise is same here, Canada. Whenever you see nice old cars, trucks and bike on the road it is mechanics who own them. Have been enjoying the revival your bike, he is a excellent mechanic and good guy. Your Bonnie is going to be better than new when done.
TOR pipes with the airbox baffle removed and free flow filter plus ecu update transforms how the bike sounds and feels. You will love it
Not much better in the world of motorcycles than rebuilding the bike you love. Please take advantage of this process. Definitely upgrade the fork springs to a progressive spring rate at the minimum or a full rate drop in cartridge. You better install that beautiful new exhaust. The vintage moto style bars will spot on cool & a better ergonomic position for touring. Delete the snorkel, run the open intake and get a rain sock for when you get caught in the wet. Such a great project. 🍻
You are going to end up with one VERY characterful bike…with a wonderfully storied history. Can’t wait to see the end result.
Joes communication style is really professional without being getting technical. thanks for turning us on to Him Freddy. As the owners on a 2013 Thruxton I am really learning a lot.
People like joe are few and far between ,thank goodness you found each other.👍
It is the best decision to give the Bonneville a second life! Cheers from Germany 🇩🇪
That man is a genius. It’s nice to see someone who wants to find and fix faults and not just replace and scrap everything. In other news, what are those trousers you are wearing, I need some in my life 😉
Really enjoyed this diagnostic investigation process of your Bonnie Freddie. It exceeded what I hoped to see. Well done both 👍
That Bonneville is obviously a dear old friend to Freddie, not just a bike in the garage. How much more satisfying must a total rebuild/refresh be than buying a new machine. Good on both you fellows!
It will be great to see your Bonneville back on the road Freddie, at last 😄😄
Freddie, my wife's T100 has the TORS fitted and remapped. It really isn't that loud, but sounds great. More importantly it runs better, especially with the Stage 1 Induction kit and remap.
Have been following progress on Joe's channel. Excellent. I love Bonnie Export bars and had them on one of my old XS650s. In fact, I think I still have a set in my garage.
Wish Joe lived up North.....very handy guy to know.....all interesting stuff Freddie.
Thanks to both of you for including us on the journey of the Bonnie…
That looks like a very nice 1971 BSA B50 lurking in the background 👍
Looking forward to seeing it back on the road. Previous mechanic is the reason I prefer to do my own maintenance.
I wondered if we'd hear The Central Scrutinizer in Joe's Garage !
We could jam in Joe's garage 🎵
I did the TTP upgrade on my Thruxton and I've also got the TORS pipes fitted. I think you'll be very happy with the results, I am certainly impressed with the upgrade to my '09.
Sometimes you can find the best mechanic outside of the professional workshops. This guy really has what it takes! I wonder who assembled the cylinder head with the wrong timing before?
Most of that went completely over my head but it just goes to show why modern day insurance companies would rather right things off instead of repairing them.
Great to see you’re putting it right!
I love watching Joe! He is an old school mechanic, not a modern parts changer. He is logical and methodical.
And then there’s Freddie. Pure emotion and just enough logic to understand Joe. Joe and Freddie both understand that there’s a huge difference between “can it be fixed” and “does it make sense to fix it”. This is the best of both worlds.
Very nice of Joe and his lady to do this for Freddie - Big 👍
I'd book an annual service and checkover with Joe right now Freddie. It'll save you a fortune in the long run. Regular maintainence is key to bike reliability and longevity. It's looking good.
Brilliant, he watched your old vids to trace when and where it went wrong. It’s like watching Endeavour!
Previous mechanic couldn't even source a gasket!
That mechanic had no wits about him whatsoever. Ok it seemed no one had a gasket, not even Triumph but that mechanic, who often worked on Triumphs should have got a company to make a load up and then he could have used one on Freddie's bike, used them for other Triumph he maybe working on and even supply them to other mechanics and dealers. He really missed a trick there.
You are such a lucky man finding Joe.
Wow!!! It's like Christmas all over again. Tell you what Freddie that guy is a one in a million. Hope the wait isn't to long, good luck and all the best.
I just put a new exhaust on my bike with the TTP tune. Big difference. But coupling it with the O2, AIS delete and the airbox mod... It's like a whole new and healthier bike. It runs so smooth and the power delivery is very linear. (I have videos of the processes on my channel.) Anyway, the bottom line is you won't be disappointed. Hello from 🇺🇸. Can't wait to see it back in action!
Hello Freddie. Great video as usual, thank you. If I may, I would like to say something to you. I say this with the most respect to you and in no way am I trying to be harsh about it. As a fellow motorcyclist you will understand where I'm coming from. I hope this is a lesson for you on the importance on future maintenance of your motorcycle. Most of us do our own maintenance because it saves money and most importantly it makes us feel good, and Obviously so we can continue to ride our motorcycle. My advice would be either have some kind of deal where Joe works on your bike or learn on your own. I understand it can be intimidating but we all started somewhere, and I believe you would find satisfaction on working and maintaining your motorcycle. Can't wait for the Bonnie to be back on the road. Ride safe.
everybody how is following the works of Mr. Joe, is learning, what a great way to do so, and ofcourse"....
I'll be supporting "The Wurks" !!!
"everybody who "
Not everyone wants to work on a motorcycle but maintenance is essential. If you can't do it yourself get it serviced regularly. The other point is the amount of equipment you need to service yourself, and how much time you have free.
Better that Freddie doesn’t try to do his own work on his bike, he would need to become a mechanical engineer and an electronics/software engineer. Best that he sticks to what he’s good at….and “shiny things”!
I’m sure if Freddie had a garage/workshop he could do the basic stuff. All he’s got is Monica’s mums allotment shed 😉
Thanks to you friend for rescuing your beautiful bike and more Bonneville rides to come.
Freddie, you really brighten my day sometimes...13:52.."liquids are going to be done !" ...🤣 I was waiting for you to make a revving sound when you held those naked handlebars ! My first proper bike was an old 1965 T120R... it spent more time in the workshop than on the road. I loved your North Yorkshire trip..I feel privileged it is on my doorstep ! Keep at it Freddie.
Freddie - you should spend as much time with Joe as you can, just watching an excellent mechanic work lots to learn.
Great video. Looks like your Bonneville is in excellent hands with Joe. I look forward to more videos as it comes along. I notice Joe has a longer video up showing the status of your bike. I look forward to your next video.
Good video, can see it coming together 👍
That is a complete restauration, that is! It's gonna be absolutely magnificent once it's finished. What a guy!
Well done to you both for keeping another bike on the road.
I'm also subscribed to Joe's channel and it's a real education!
Is Joe donating all of his labor for free? If so, that's pretty awesome of him. He's getting some good content for his channel. Hopefully he gained some subs during this process. Those new handlebars will be really nice and comfortable for long rides
Local bike shops charge £100 per hour. Freddies bike is having a complete overhaul rather than simply rectifying what was necessary to put the bike safely and reliably back on the road.
Even though it will be in excellent condition when its finished, it could have been done for less money - under the cost of buying a replacement. Although I am shocked at how these bikes devalue in quite a short time.
Theres a lot to be said for learning how to repair your own bike. I started down that path in 1974 and never regretted learning 'how to'. Saved me a fortune over the years and gave me great pleasure.
Can't wait to see the end result the work that's been put into the bike is fantastic, true dedication from Joe.😊
I know it's subjective, and no ones asked for my opinion therefore should keep shtum but I can't, but... I'm hoping a nice set of spoked ultra sparkly shiny boolers are going to find their way into this cracking little bike. Kudos 2u for saving it BTW 👍
And to top it all, after all these new bits 'n bobs are fitted, all the Sahara sand in all the nooks and crannies will be gone. I look forward to seeing those new Bars when fitted... apropos Bars, that is where I intend spending more time this year..., behind Bars! The last year, bad health had prevented me from riding. Looking forward to exploring the old Dobbs hunting grounds of Suffolk (thanks for the idea) plus the Norfolk coast which is apparently also grandious.
Fantastic thanks for sharing
Joe is such a nice dude, and a very capable mechanic. You really were lucky to meet him, Freddie!
I'm looking forward to see the Bonneville back
Loving this Freddie. Definitely a nostalgic feeling about the Bonny. It's served you well and feels right to get it back up together. It's got some real history and should have plenty more life and travels in it.
I'm glad you're doing it. Looking forward to the final reveal.
Jim. 👍🏻
I'm excited for you Freddie. Your enthusiasm is infectious
Brilliant, that the old Bonnie gets the love it deserves. And we should keep our old bikes in good running order, they tell an important piece of history plus they help to keep our memories from all the good times we´ve had with them. Now this one will serve well for a long time to come.
