    What motorcycles, builds and setup does an engineer and part time bike builder have tucked away in his collection? I do a full garage tour of Joe from @TheWurks work space.
    From a Triumph Bonneville / Triumph Tiger Frankenstein bike, to a CCM / BSA / Triumph build and a Harley Davidson Sportster, this is an eye opening collection of what's possible in bike building.

    GT85 compared to ACF-50 is the corner shop, rollercola equivalent of proper Coca Cola. One of my bikes was SORNed in March last year with a coating of ACF before having a cover over it outside. There is no sign of rust on it after 11 months, and you know what our weather has been over the last year.

    Truly captivating watch. I have a friend who can do anything, cars, bikes, built two houses, built his kids a house each. Left school at 14 no quals. Retired as a Microsoft engineer. No formal training on hands on work just self taught. Would love to be like that. I do diy but often feel out my depth. I have just rebuilt my first brake calipers for my car but am too scared to fit in case they fail. All done off u tube. This collaboration is so stimulating. I cannot wait to see your bonneville fixed. Joe is an amazing fellah and so glad you hooked up. We cant all keep out bikes mint, they are for riding too. As well as being a mechanic, however you can learn a bit Freddy. Not everyone wants to and I have been in the position of wishing I hadn’t started something. It’s at home, it’s apart, everything is seized, don’t have tools, no welder. Call the garage 😮😮

    The skills and aptitudes of Joe and those of his ilk, are passed on down the generations. I don't claim to be as skilled and knowledgable as Joe, but I recognise similiar traits in myself. My dad was a very capable guy. He installed two central heating systems in houses we lived in when I was growing-up, he also re-wired them completely and made fitted cupboards and wardrobes for the bedrooms. He wasn't a heating engineeer or a plumber or a joiner. He served an apprenticeship as an electrician before developing an interest in aviation and becoming a radio operator, then a flight navigator and eventually flying for thirty years as a commercial pilot. Those routes are simply not available to kids growing-up these days. You're told to specialise at an early age, then if you don't stick to your limited range of career options, you may end up spending years floundering, looking for your true vocation. The point I'm making here is, my dad instilled in me from an early age that it's entirely possible to do any of those jobs yourself. He showed me the basics of handling all manner of tools. I assisted him doing some of the jobs around the house. He advised me how to go about various jobs on my first serious bicycle. He'd been an avid cyclist himself and later a motorcyclist. I was lucky to have such a mentor. I think the moral of this tale is; start young, accept guidence, then follow your own interests wherever that takes you. Never assume you know it all, there'll always be people that will know way more than you do. But find a niche, then make your mark. Joe has done just that with his remarkable shed. I'm old enough to remember reading the Alan Cathcart article about Joe's fathers CCM. What a lovely tribute to a childhood memory and dream to have made his own version of this very special bike.

    • @user-yb9ww6lv7j
      @user-yb9ww6lv7j 3 місяці тому

      You're right, it could take years to find your true vocation but there is such a vast amount of jobs out there, it is inevitable that you will take years. That's why you have to go down one direction and then find your own way in the direction you really want to go down.
      I suppose it does help if your parents are hands-on and can pass those skills down but if you are practical minded, that really doesn't really matter. My Dad didn't really have a clue about DIY and had trouble even wiring a plug but I've always been practical, mending, making things, right from an early age and is why I went into mechanical engineering and from that I have learnt many other skills. So much so that I almost never get any trade in to do jobs for me. I have never taken my cars or bikes to a garage and I have completely renovated and extended many houses, doing all my own work, be it plumbing, heating, electrics, bricklaying, plastering, roofing, joinery, almost everything, as well as mending anything mechanical that is broken. If the will and determination is there, then it can all be learnt if you are that way inclined and the satisfaction of what you have achieved is priceless, plus the money you have saved is always a bonus as well.

    What a fantastic video! Joe is brilliant, I'm so happy that he's bringing your Bonnie back to life. I myself recently bought a Bonnie t100. It's a 2007 that has been sitting in a garage for almost 10 years. I did get it running last week, still waiting on parts to make the Bonnie roadworthy again. I definitely want to do a scrambler out of my Bonnie. Joe's scrambler is perfect. As someone that's been riding dual sports for my entire life, the scrambler will allow me to still go off road but give me more comfort on road. Freddie, have you ever thought about visiting the USA? My dad called me up after Joe’s recent video to tell me I’m a disgrace the way I look after my bike. I’ve been getting abuse from all areas!😆

    A lot of my Dads mates busted their ankles kicking high compression bikes over.
    Ill only kick start a bike with full boots on.
    Great video as ever.

    The end product is going to be amazing. It will be well worth the wait! As for Joe and Emily; you are quite right. A different breed entirely. Beautiful people and a beautiful video.

    That Freddie was the best yet ! Trust in Joe, you will end up with a bike for life, and truly customised, adapted to your vision your riding the way that customising evolves. Question.. Dave Calderwood whose articles I used to read? Nice stable Joe.

      @trenaallen1613 I hear this, with Joe I have had bike parts all over the house, even in the oven and in the dishwasher... there's no end. I always tell myself he could have worse hobbies I'm just not sure what they are anymore 😂
