Let me know what you thought down below 👇🏼
I think failing a final helps you build your confidence and improve your knowledge/skills. We are going to encounter failure in life but striving will keep you going and not give up. It helps you grow and get far in life. I had failed finals as well but I didn't let it get you me. I didn't bring myself down. I picked myself up and moved forward to get where I am today. Two degrees in Computer Science. I look back at it and I'm grateful for pushing myself to be strong in the mind. So I think your video was great giving your personal experience and give others to stay positive and grow from it.
Oof
Hey nic! What math class was it, just wondering?
Hey man don't worry about it. I was in the same situation as you. I went to WashU (St. Louis) and got a C in one of my classes (and felt exactly what you've mentioned in the video). Just keep up and work hard for the future, and don't let the past get you!
Yassss I would love to see your catchphrase on a merch
You're a good student. The fact that you shared your "failure " with us and trying to learn from your mistakes , makes me respect you as a college student
khaoula elassri thank you :,)
800th like bro
I just came back from "preparing for my Princeton final in 24 hours" lmao
Justin Burton same
Justin Burton lol me too, things i took notes from that video like what to do, just became what not to do!😂
Same!
this is for differential calculus, that video he was preparing for Macroeconomics, which admittedly is significantly easier for intro level.
Nicholas Chae: I failed my Princeton final
John Fish: Why my Harvard 4.0 was a failure
Jaret Rushing I saw that 😭😭😭😭
that's classic! Still remember my dumb face when I saw the John Fish video.
John fish 💪 ing on us
Hey
I thought I had the best feeling maybe but I had a remix in other systemic things foreal
Failing sucks, but you're at one of the best schools in the world...at the very top of the academic world, so props to u. rare air, son.
mdtriggs thx brotha
@Ahmad Muhammad should he have said dad? Lol
@Ahmad Muhammad So you're implying that anyone who calls me "son", I should call him "Dad"?
@Ahmad Muhammad LMFAO 😂
you really do keep it real and i respect that
I graduated from Princeton in 2016. Its so tough sometimes but hang in there, you'll be okay! C's get degrees!
Chan Telle facts!
@@l.1244 I went to grad school after lol
Chan Telle if i may ask, where did you go to graduate school? does going to a good undergrad give some bias towards graduate admissions officers’ decisions?
@@chantelle2404 HAHA
I’m going to brown next year... hopefully it goes okay lol
The maturity you demonstrated in the face of failure is a bigger predictor of success than an arbitrary grade in what for you is an arbitrary class.
“Demonstrated in the face of failure” Improper grammar as well. Stop trying to sound like you have any intellectual thoughts at all, fucking idiot.
Hai Hay wow someone’s having a bad week
@@haihay1746 whats wrong?

Hai Hay man you are a sourpus person. Lighten there is some truth to his comment.
I enjoyed this video. You are so real, the way you discuss this topic which is taboo since no one really has the guts to talk about it is perfect. i'm glad I found your channel.
Thank you so much for showing your losses and your wins this made me feel so much better about my own struggle.
Mad respect to u for having the authenticity and courage to share this vid!
This is what I needed. Not you failing, but showing us that it can happen to you cause I always felt you were better than I could ever be but now I know. Thanks man
First off, mad props to you for keeping it 100 with us, not many people would do that. You addressed failure, and now the only way to go is up bro, keep being you & doing what you're doing, I see BIG things ahead for you! As far as the merch goes - we neeeeed it! That would look so good! It's sounds so saucy, and it's motivational too! Big fan of your content bro, I hope you hit 50k real soon😌☝🏼
love for the cozy setting
Yuki yay
Honestly, this is why I respect you and adore you as a UA-camr, Getting into Princeton is something that everyone would love to upload on youtube but failing in Princeton finals is something not many would prefer to upload, This made me realize that even the IVY league students make mistake and it's not bad we all are humans but it's all about how we learn and develop for those mistakes.
Good luck on your channel😊😊😊😊 waiting for you to hit a 50k.
thank you so much for keeping it real, man. not a college student yet but I can definitely relate to the feelings you detailed in this video and your persistence is very inspiring. thank you!
Thanks for being real my dude!! I’m going to college after I graduate this year and thanks for the advice for dealing with failures. U got this!! Don’t believing in yourself!!
OMG haha I was boutta say both those quotes would be cool on merch. Yay! This was yet another inspiring real Nic Chae vid, thanks so much! :) It’s nice knowing we’re all in this together and gonna be getting through this college thing and also making the best memories during it and learning the most.
this is what i needed right now. i have dental admission test in less than 2 weeks and your video made feel less afraid/stressed of possible failure. thanks man
Can totally relate. Went through the same mentality during my time at Notre Dame. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for sharing, it's good to see UA-camrs showing that their lives aren't perfect.
Man! This is so relatable... I was so sad that I did not do well today in my first math midterm in uni, but he honestly cheered me up! Thank you @Nicolas Chae
Don’t stress about it. At least you have a mature perspective about it. I wish I had this advice years ago. You are right about math classes being quite difficult in college vs. high school. Unfortunately, a math class I was taking was so hard that I dropped it and decided to I changed my major. Keep moving forward! I wish you the best of luck.
During high school, i failed my additional maths 8 times, & now im an engineering student and passed my foundation with flying colour :) kudos nic!
Danial Irfan edmet susah sia
I'm in high school and my teacher told me today that I failed my additional maths class.... I've always been a straight A student but we had exams physically after attending only online classes and I totally messed up my exam. I have my results the day after tomorrow, I don't know what to do. I think my mom will kill me or at least beat me up😭😭😭😭😭😭please tell me what to do
@@pamcasso09 no matter what, your mum will love you unconditionally. Keep working hard and you will succeed!
@@danialirfan5587 thank you!!
Had a 4.0 as a student-athlete until last semester and ended up getting a C+ because my partner ended up screwing me over. I've been in that boat. It's all about the bounce back for sure.
Hey Nic, I totally understand what's it like to fail an exam, esp in college where almost every subject requires so much of effort but only the one or two major exams are heavily graded. Also, I appreciate your courage to share your story of failure out with the world. Stay strong and hope you can bounce back from the failure and move on with your college life!!
Man, the channel has become my main source of motovation. Been here since 2017🙌 Love yo content, keep it up and real (finesse)
Aww it's alright! you're just juggling with so many things. You're so dynamic and amazing, and so incredibly honest and authentic. And if Math is that hard and you're not particularly passionate about it, I'm glad you gave it up.
Besides, being an Ivy League student and picking yourself up from a bad grade is so hard, and you've done it. Props to you!
My son is the same major at Swarthmore and took up to multi variables and differentials in high school and he says it’s way different and way harder in college. Stay strong and move forward!
Thanks man, i've recently failed one of my p level paper for ACCA and this makes me feel so much better that I don't take my grade too personally anymore and continue to strive better. All the best to ya in college life! :)
I could relate with your situation except I failed with Anatomy and Physiology 101, cried about it but I had to move on from it and since I'm retaking it this semester, I'm finally understanding the content of the class! You got this! Don't give up! :) Best of luck
It's really sad and often feels like the end of the world when we fail at something we tried so hard at. But oftentimes real failure is our inability to try things and be better than before. You did your best, you've learned from it, and you're moving on. Many people, a lot older than you still have trouble doing this. I'm glad that you're staying positive and sharing this with us!
This hit home real hard, and I definitely feel ya. I thought failing my classes meant that I was a failure, I took time to reflect and realize that I had multiple tries to do better and in the long run if I did my best and still fail then that means I maybe my major wasn’t meant to be and that’s ok. Thanks for keeping it real man and I appreciate your videos! :)
Hey Nick! first off mad respect for always keeping it real with us and also I love that you have such a positive attitude towards the future even though I know at first your reaction to failing a final wasn't so positive and I understand tbh i've been there. College math truly is not a joke haha I felt that same smack this year! college is just trial and error and this was just a bump on the road but man oh man props to you for being so positive that's like the first step to getting better so I see you!! you got it :)
also, yes...yes merch please
Blessings
Guys, I failed calculus 3 times. Yes, 3 times! I’ve seen my peers pass with flying colours. But I just grind through it and dont give a fuck what others think about me and here I am. 3 years later, i’m on my final year for my engineering mechanical degree. Keep going guys!
you are a true inspiration nic! 50K LET’S GOO! IT’S HAPPENING.🙌🏼
You keep it 100, respect, peace bro
You always make me feel that I can be better too!!☺ Though you didn't pass your Final but you did excel in other areas. Appreciate the efforts you put in every video than everyone else who vlogs all the college related stuff but you have seriously knocked it out of the park !!
I really appreciate your candor and transparency in this video, and on your channel in general. Something that I had to come to terms with this year, in my senior year of high school is that I'm not good at everything. I was raised as a prodigy and so failure was not a part of my vocabulary until it was. It was hard and it still is, but it's like you said the past is the past and we have to let ourselves grow from these experiences.
This 100% rings true to me. As a senior in high school, I am constantly questioning my abilities and why I am not better on certain subjects or don’t have certain skills. I think that the fact you’re humble enough to make a video for people like me and others who might need to hear this, speaks louder than that test grade. Love thiss 💪🏻🥴
this is a super mature and well made video -- respect for putting urself out there like that
This video is so great!! Don't worry bro just keep up that positive attitude and you will accomplish your goals!! During my first year at my university in Canada, I felt the same pain and frustration after realizing I had failed one of my exams but receiving a D in the course felt worse. My first year at my uni was hell because I had also received a C and C+ in two of my other courses. After receiving those grades it was a real wake up call. I realized I really had to work my ass off and change up a lot of things so that I won't make the same mistake again. During my second year as a university student, I studied like crazy and ended off the year with an A+ in one of my courses and for my other courses, I received all A's. Looking back now, I recognize how those failures helped me grow as a person and how it helped me develop better study methods and habits. Don't let failure keep you down if you have failed then you have the potential to grow and overcome any previous shortcomings.
THIS is the quality content I don’t see often on UA-cam. Koodos to u Nick.
i recently went through a failure and this video was such a different perspective from what i've told myself. this was hella inspiring thanks for opening my eyes
Lemon Zhao 🙏
Damn, as someone who's going through the exact same (or very similar) struggle at the moment, this video was really therapeutic to watch (and hopefully it was therapeutic to film + create). Sharing this kind of struggle is definitely not easy, and it really speaks to your character to own up to failures and take it in stride and with a positive mindset, and it's definitely still something I need to work on. Thank you so much for sharing this video ~ having watched your videos since I was in high school, I know that all your videos are such good quality, but this one is definitely a fav!
Finally I find the same exact situation I was going through thanks man i appreciate you.
Similar situation happened to me but in my general chemistry class. I didn't think I could become a doctor anymore. I just moved on and I learned from my mistakes. Now I'm applying better studying skills in my current classes at UC Berkeley. Good luck Nic! Thanks for sharing btw :)
D Flores did you try retaking those classes?
@@Jessikerz_ I didn't retake the class. I decided to pursue Nurse Practitioner as a career. Since the prereqs are different for NP school this allows me to start a new path without having to worry about that bad grade in chemistry.
D Flores im in the same boat, i had to retake a few classes but i’m still in the path to become a DO. I don’t know if i am choosing the right way though.
Jessica Miranda hmmm you sound a lot like me lol! Maybe you should reconsider becoming a DO? Is a primary care specialty something you want to pursue? If so I would recommend checking out nurse practitioner! As a NP you basically perform the same duties as a primary care physician. To become a nurse practitioner you don’t have to major in nursing for undergrad but you need general prereqs for the masters or doctorate program. Hopefully this makes sense! Let me know!
This was really helpful to see after I bombed my physics test I studied pretty hard for today
Totally feel your pain! As a freshman at Penn last semester I failed my first chem midterm and Calc midterm despite spending countless hours studying for it. In the end everything worked out for both classes, but it feels bad to work hard and not get results, but life is all about how you respond from trials!
it's great that you learn from your mistakes as a student and take lessons away from failures. i think that mindset will take you a long way :)
Great advice. Just graduated from davis with a mechanical engineering degree not an ivy but it was hard as hell. Never got C's but got my first two in thermo fluids and hvac
I relate to this on a whole other level! I'm currently a sophomore in high school and i'm in all APs and Honors classes but with math i just can't do it! I'm still stuck at the CP level and I bring myself down for it so much but its so important that I remind myself that I don't have to be good at everything! Obviously it's different for you since you're @ the college level but it means a lot that you're open about it! Thanks
This is just the bounce back pep talk that I needed...
Yes to the merch 🙏
This helped me out. I am studing for a test for a hefty scholarship for college. I am stressing out of my mind and I putting in so much work. I need to keep things in perspective and tho this might mean 9 more years of student debt, I have to give my self credit for things I excel in. And stop focusing on the negatives, and start focusing on the positives.
I learned about u from that video talking about being rejected from dream school. I also recommend your videos with my friends in China~
Bro, this is so brave of you! Remember, college is all a part of the system. Don't let it weigh you down. You are great, and with what is going for you, you can honestly achieve so much with or without PRINCETON!
Yes I would love a t shirt with that saying on it
and can we get some international shipping on that too - Brit here wanting to cop too
Thank you for sharing your study methods and school life experiences. Let’s us know we’re not alone.
Realist guy I've seen when it comes to academics ! respect
Thank you Nic for the awesome content and working hard to put out new content for us viewers to watch. It was really brave of you to put this out to the public. I learned a lot from watching your videos and have been able to procrasinate less in life and enjoy college life. Have a fantastic day sir :)
Troy Yim thanks man appreciate it
I honestly HATE that math tests in college are like that. I was so used to learning something in high school and having that exact type of problem be on the test. College is a completely different store, it’ll be similar to the concept but have extra concepts mixed in that you didn’t even study how the do/the theory behind it. Sadly, I’m a CS major so I’ll have to tough through it all lol. But I understand your pain completely.
Thanks mate
That’s literally the point, you only really know something if you can apply your knowledge in unfamiliar surroundings. If you only know how to do a problem because you’ve done it before, you don’t know shit.
It’s called synthesis and it’s the hardest part of learning
J. Bar Or to placate the rich kids who got in because of mommy and daddy.
Lmao what the fuck is the point of math if you can just memorize a problem? That is not what math is for. Im glad your college does it like this.
that's so real of you to share something like this
this is a very informative video. failure doesn’t define you. good luck!!
Keeping it real...that’s what makes your Channel true and real...grades are just grades! What you do after the failures or fall is what matters!
Respect man ✊🏽 I thought I was invincible out of high school, but until I failed my calc class my first semester of college. But, I bounce back with a B+ the next following semester.
I love your channel. Thanks for being honest and open with us.❣️
I just failed my first college exam for calc 2 and man I needed this 🙏 thank you 🙏
Bryan Macias Ahh Calc 2...probably the hardest of the sequence for some reason. And everyone agrees.
Love the message of this video! I remember taking my first biology test in college, 54%!! Even after taking 3 years in high school 😅 Just took my 2nd bio test and expecting a better result from what I learned from my last test! Keep up the good work! ❤️
Dawg, you just earned a subscriber just for your realness. respect.
This is real. I’m a freshman at washu and I have had a rough time with pre-med but we r still chugging on. Nice video.
Really enjoyed your video and your thoughts and ideas on university.
Thank you again!
I am also an economics major. I go to UT and god damn those finals were tough, I got a C on my Calculus final which sucked, but I was in the same boat. I figured out what I need to do to better prepare myself for future finals and didn't let it take a toll on me. Glad to see even people at the top notch schools go through the same things.
Keep up the good content!
Don't worry about subs keep working and the subs will come soon!
Yes, yes we want in on some merch :)
Nicolas....keep up the great job!!!!! Love your Vlogs!!!! You give great advice and guidance for college students. You are a good student, don't worry too much on the failed grade, keep pushing forward!!!!
I feel you man...as a victim of UMich math I can feel your struggles
Thanks for this video- I needed this💕
Thank you Nick this helped me alot!
You are so brave to share your failure and what you learned
I needed this video so much, thank you for our honesty.
If you knew that you tried your best and that there was nothing else you could have done to do better....don't feel bad. I think its already amazin that you are already in one of the most prestigious universities in this world and that you have a positive attitude!
I'm experiencing the same struggles...but i'm a junior in high school.
I used to be so fuckin pessimistic and it took a toll on my mental health, but I've recently learned how to shape my mindset in a better way and bounce back
Thanks for this vid Nick!
this has to be the most relatable college video you've made in a while simply out of the amount of times you said "fuck" compared to your other videos.
I HONESTLY needed to watch this video rn
its cool bro...you just setting yourself for that comeback SZN!!!
You are doing fine. Princeton's math is hard. Best wishes.
Good luck to you bro 😊 failure is our building block to success 🥰
I’m not at a uni as prestigious as Princeton but I feel you for math as an economics major :((
Trust me I’ve put in so many hours & still failed my statistic exam last week. Proceeded to yell my lungs out in my car. Lol I feel ya! We live & we learn. Turn L’s into lessons. Appreciate your honesty! #Respect
Respect it brotha!
I appreciate this so much!
Great vid. Really appreciate these "real talk" vids. When that iphone review tho?
Zhengyin Lee soon
I would for sure buy that merch.
Hey Nic! I happened to be going to the same high school as you and am now a freshman at The University of North Texas. It's been full of so many great memories, and I've made some fantastic grades within my very first semester. However, I found my way to this video after I *completely* bombed an Italian exam just a few days ago. I got really devastated and was upset at myself because I didn't meet my hopes and expectations; no matter how hard I was studying or reaching out for help, it just didn't work out. I really appreciate your advice, as it made me come to terms with myself. I failed, and now it's in the past.
What can I do now to continue to put my best foot forward? It's unrealistic to expect perfection on every single thing that I do here. By acknowledging my mishaps, I know that I can make the most of every opportunity to do my best. I still have a long road ahead of me, and it won't always be easy. It was so great to listen to what you had to say, and made me realize I'm not alone on this crazy journey that is college.
Thank you so much for making this video! I dropped you a subscription and hope you hit that glorious 50K mark soon!
Man... I needed this...
This makes me feel better cause I'm about to fail this midterm on Monday
the people wanna know
I did lmao
Update: I took an L but I spoke to my professor and he said I could still get an A in the class if I ace all my other exams.......
Loreyna saint surin grind time homie
Loreyna saint surin make us proud
A fellow Princeton freshman here. I couldn't agree more with you- being here is a shocking experience and has already taught me so much about myself. Just like you, I have experienced my fair share of setbacks (dropped two classes) but every day I must keep telling myself that I shouldn't compare myself to others or think of it as a determining factor in my future.
Awwwww 👏 way to go Nic! You"ll learn more things when you experienced failure compare to being successful at all times : ) experienced it too when I failed two major law school subjects haha. But then life' a journey! Keep it up and best of luck!
My man Chae you might have lost the battle on this one but NOT the war. Do not worry and let this be a motivator for your next one. You’ll do good ! Believe in yourself
Keep your head up man don’t worry about it....
