I may or may not have waited a day after I got my acceptance to Princeton to tell my mom by surprising her at work... :)

im a freshman in hs and I’d like to apply to Princeton when I’m older. coming from a low income family I sort of feel your situation; I also have immigrant parents and this video was pure and amazing. Congrats on Princeton!

I would suggest applying for any and all scholarships ASAP you don’t have to wait for junior year to do so. Doing so means you’ll have a head start on everyone else. Good luck!

If u haven’t already, I would suggest checking out the QuestBridge program which gives low-income, high achieving students access to some of the best schools in the country (Princeton is one of them). They essentially could help u receive a full ride scholarship to one of these schools. I myself received a scholarship to Columbia University through QuestBridge. I know it seems hard to believe but u should still try because you never know. This program is available at the beginning of your senior year so u still have some time to research it. I hope this helps!

As a student who could have made a bigger effort in high school I really admire high school students who made huge efforts to get into those type of schools. I'm studying in the best university in my country though, and I'm doing an international degree with the UCL though... But it could have always been better. I live 20 minutes from Princeton make sure you get out when you can end enjoy yourself... the beach the mountains the city NYC and Philly all within an hour train or drive. Make time for yourself and enjoy the journey. Congratulations!!!!

I aspire ambitious goals such as getting into an Ivy League university or Standford, and I could relate to this video on all levels, although I am Hispanic. This has made me utterly happy and given me hope because I always aim to make my parents proud with my decisions, too. The most amazing part is that I could see my mother in yours, a woman who does everything for their child and supports yet aligns their child.
