Rhym Guitar sounds like a medical condition.
It says ''George Martin help with piano and arrangements'' but what would he have helped with? The piano part isn't that complex and mostly centered round chords. Paul would've needed no help with that, and he is a fine pianist himself. As for the arrangement part, I think they easily could have come up with the organ, guitar solo's, etc themselves. I don't think GM had that much of a big role in the creating of this song.

The chords of Sexy Sadie and Karma police are very different.
@@michelottaviani3296 The chords in the chorus of Karma Police are C D G F#7, which are the same chords to in the verse of Sexy Sadie when John is singing "You made of a fool of everyone." Also, the outro section for both songs shifts and starts on bminor, and there's even an very similar bassline riff on both songs. This is not at all to criticize Radiohead btw, I absolutely love them! Both songs are phenomenal as well. I wouldn't say Karma Police steals from Sexy Sadie, but it for sure is heavily inspired by it I think. And that's okay! Muscians do that all the freakin time, The Beatles did that a lot too.
John was a great vocalist. He had an amazing falsetto.
This song is just a masterpiece. I've become a bit obsessed with it recently! So, so great.
It's brilliant. The chord changes on paper shouldn't fly -- like when it drops out of key from the F# to F capturing Lennon's disillusionment -- music is not sound but feeling after all, according to Wallace Stevens.

Yes, this song amazes me in waves. Every few years I find myself coming back to it because something reminds me of it and then I fall into another void of appreciation for it, lol. Love that the Beatles create that with many of their songs.
John is the best pop singer and songwriter of all time, most original and inventive as well.
This is absolutely one of my favorite Beatles songs. Listen to Paul play John's unusual chords with all the gusto of someone who clearly understands what his partner is going for, RIngo driving the beat forward as only Ringo can do, George and John's trading guitar licks, and of course, John's magnificent vocals with John, Paul, and George supplying almost "Pip-like" background vocals (the ending, "Sexy Sadie, she's the latest and the greatest of them all!" is breathtaking.). Just an absolute masterpiece. John was on FIRE on the White Album.
John’s unusual chord progressions on almost all his White Album tracks are rock composing at it finest, from Dear Prudence to Sexy Sadie to Happiness is a Warm Gun to Julia to Yer Blues and I’m so Tired… it’s just awe inspiring creativity
Yeah. I've opined that if you take all of Lennon's songs from the White Album, it's probably his best album.

Ringo making even the most simple patterns sound unique
The fills are actually not that simple though
If anyone doubts why the Beatles replaced their original drummer, this track shows it. Ringo is a master, with perfect tempo, rock solid drumming, and unique fills. If Ringo had drummed on Back to the USSR instead of Paul, that song would have been even greater.

Me too but apart from the piano Intro here it’s hard to hear it so I don’t think it’s isolated I usually get a professionally transcribed Piano score of the isolated tracks of songs I like.

@@paulallenMacca it’s because they recorded everything live so there’s bleed through from the other instruments. It seems to be the case on most of the early isolated tracks. It’s the best we can get, still awesome to hear an instrument so prominent in the mix though 👌
And Ringo is just superb - again. He is not the world's greatest drummer, but may be my favorite. He has so much control and precision for the song he plays. It's about the song - always about the song.

He exists in a world where we can love everyone from Watts to Bonham to Williams to Bruford to Palmer to Grohl to Cobham to Purdie to Porcaro to Ringo, and on and on. The whole sound of the White Album was innovative in itself. The crispness of Ringo's drum playing was complemented and complemented by EMI's white coat techs who by request tweaked compression up to 11..giving the album a less over produced sound while adding uniqueness of it's own! brilliant!

He did that very often. Perhaps because he started his fills left handed and it filled the space for him to get his left hand ready. It’s great because it adds suspense for the fill. Another piece of his genius

This is one great piano performance. I know McCartney always highlights his work on "Lady Madonna," but I think this one might top that.
I agree but it's not that it's a particularly difficult performance, or that he plays especially well. It's just that it's such an interesting (and pretty) piano riff and piece. very creative and beautifully arranged to fit the track.

It's actually quite fascinating heating the guitar arpeggios on their own, it's one of those details I always knew was there but never really played close attention to and they work really well.

Ringo is not human, he's a machine. These isolated tracks really display what an incredible drummer he is. To me, he somewhat gets lost when you hear everything. He's my favorite drummer. He always finds the right drum part for a song. Incredible mix of creativity, consistency and being able to stay in the groove for a particular song. No wonder why the Beatles recruited him to replace Pete Best. If you listen to Pete's work with the Beatles, it's a day and night difference. Ringo and Paul formed an incredible rhythm section.
I listen to these playbacks on a 1000 watt Mcintosh system, with 4 15's, on the bottom end and Altec horns on the top. Ringo's Drums sound HUGE!

Around 4:01 McCartney sounds like he has a little tempo issue on bass. Does anyone else hear that? Just to be clear: I am a massive Beatles fan and my fav Beatle is Paul. So nothing but love for his massive talent. Sometimes it’s good to hear that the gods sometimes make little mistakes, right? Makes it more human and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I hear that, maybe he's not accustomed to the instrument. Paul is usually on the nose with his notation. But, then sometimes . . . well, distractions???
He's playing rubato. Tempos don't need to be constant, especially in a laid back song such as this.
I think it sounds off cus of the way the tracks were isolated. U can almost hear it on beat but it fades if u hear closely
Yes, lol. But we have to remember that judging isolated instrumentals outside of the mix isn’t really fair to the musician. These days many players just have their riffs looped to save time and effort-which also makes human error minimal. Even legendary musicians will have imperfections when isolated because musicians are only human and playing music is a human-only talent.

John was a genius
Incredible Vocal performance by John starting at 9:45; his use of Falsetto is the best I’ve ever heard, also featured in “Imagine”, “God”, “A Day in the Life” and at the end of “In My Life”. But “Sexy Sadie” really uses it like no other. Think Thom Yorke took notes on John’s singing style and unique chord progressions
In fact he does the VERY same falsetto in the background of "A day in the life" - I will NEVER understand how so many people miss this and still claim it's John doing the "aaah"!!

We old folks know, but for youngsters: this is about the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. The Beatles followed him for awhile, seeking enlightenment in India. But the Yogi was a less than stellar character. Also, this is one of the songs used by Manson to enthrall his followers.
I wonder if that could be George playing the bass. The piano sounds like it was recorded with the basic track, and George's guitar part sounds like an overdub. Also, the bass part is actually pretty rough. :)
