    I was able to play a game of Dice Forge last week at my FLGS Game Night. We played a four player game and had a blast! It was beautiful, easy to get into and comprehend, and it was really interesting to see how everyone built their engines. Each one of us enjoyed it to the point that we are going to buy it when it's released.

    wow, the more analysis approach of not fearing to much to each say what you didn't like as much (editorial) is really really appreciated , I might watch more of your video if you continue on that branch

    Very good review! I especially liked the comments on what potentially could put some people off, which is sadly not often covered in as much detail and in the end this information really allows us as purchasers to make more educated decisions! Thanks for all the great work you are putting into these videos!

    I just wanted to commend you for providing constructive criticism but yet remain positive on the hobby. I saw your reddit post about your defense on your videos not being "harsh." This channel continues to grow and improve. I look forward to seeing more content from you guys. Keep up the excellent work! You guys are appreciated and its refreshing to see tabletop games done in such high quality and care. Quality > Quantity of videos.

      100% agree with David Moss. I actually blurbed out my similar thoughts on one of your earlier videos (Rise to Nobility) but the sentiment of what I said still stands:
      =====
      Regarding comments on this video (and others) about the whole paid/unpaid reviews/previews thing....
      It's simple in my world. I don't watch MvsM to listen to Jeremy or David or any guest tell me to buy a game. I watch it to enjoy and appreciate Jeremy and David and their guests talk enthusiastically and knowledgeably about our exciting hobby. With fantastic presentation and prep.
      I can then get a real sense of what the game is about, how it plays, the components and some views to consider alongside any other sources or my opinions. Awesome stuff.
      Whether they were paid to do it, requested by a patreon or kickstarter backer, or have a different agenda - big deal. We still get the same top notch quality and entertainment and insight regardless. Plus, with so many games out there... I'm sure they would rather review or preview games they enjoy, as it's gonna take a lot of time to produce this kind of slick content - so I fear some people misinterpret the ongoing enthusiasm and gushing praise as salesly. Nada.
      As I say, seems simple to me.
      Plus, it's games - we've got bigger stuff to worry about in the world with mainstream media and our cultural influencers with their bias, selective reporting and fake news agendas. Me, I'm gonna play cool games. Apologies to MvsM team for waffling on, but I wanted to spit my beef. Keep on doing watcha do.
      /EndOfRant

      Yah, this was my first time watching one of your reviews (been waiting a while for this game to release), and I was quite impressed with your format and detail! Keep it up, I will now start digging through your videos for other reviews of interest! :)

    In service to your continuation of increasing excellence, please note that "die" is never plural, only singular. "Dice" can be plural or singular.

    It's certainly gorgeous. I assume it will hit Australian in late July August if it's due out in the US in June. I'll definitely be checking it out, it's a lovely looking game. Thanks for another sweet review.

    Great review, and the game looks quite fun, but I was taken aback by your comment on Seasons... I don't know how you play that game, but while I agree that the four-player game is a bit long, it has never reached 2 hours with my group, even in the first learning game. And at two players, we actually play it in around 40 mins.

    • @EmpressG
      @EmpressG 7 років тому +2

      Yeah 4 player is not the best count for Seasons :) 2 player preferred, but max 3, and 2p plays in 30-40 mins (base game only)
      Excellent video on Dice Forge. After watching the demo at the Cannes Games expo I had some concerns that it would not be that great at the 2p count and it was justified. Thanks for the heads up and keep up the great work!

    I was also worried that it might not be deep enough for me. Also I understand that it sounds fun to change the faces of the dice, but it feels like if they had used boards with upgradable effects for each face of the die they could've done so much better without the fear of breaking the die or losing the faces. Cool idea though.

    Yep, defiantly a great entry level game, but at what price point! I thing this won't be cheap.
    Total agree with your summary

  •  7 років тому +1

    In a two player game, you could just use all four pawns and have two each. Then you would get the same blocking "feel" as in a four player game.

    At first the 26 point card seems really good but after playing a couple of time you quickly realize that the hammer it's as good or might be better because of how cheap it is and you are always wasting gold towards the end anyways. I think the game is balanced

    I had played this game 4 times and i had enjoed almost all od them, i have only some question.
    1 are we sure that the first player it start with MORE Gold that the other player? Is a little bit strange Because it seem that you have only advantage to start first.
    2 in a 4 players game we had a slow start with some bad roll, especially for the fourth player that start with 0 Gold, sometimes it seem that 9 or 10 turn it's really a short time, especially to reach more than 100 point ( why put the token if we Never had more than 70 point...) 😅

    What!!!??? Did he just say Seasons takes 90 minutes at two? What!?! It takes 15-20 minutes for two experienced players, and Seasons is a lifestyle game that people play hundreds of times. Even my first game of Seasons took no more than 60 minutes. 90 is a bit of an exaggeration.

      Ha! This game in particular is just so beautiful looking, it IS hard to pass up. Even though it's a lighter experience than many of the game I generally play, it's still likely on my purchase list too.

    nice review. i too only recently discovered your reviews and i like what i see.
    i wont be buying this game unless they can make it more appealing to heavier gamers. its unfortunate bc this game looks amazing and sounds like a lot of fun! ill stick with seasons.
    for what its worth i dont think seasons is a long game. i haven't played many games in person but 2 player games i dont remember being longer than an hour. its the drafting that takes so long, but that should speed up significantly with experience.

      what part of it is disappointing?

    • @davidwaybright
      @davidwaybright 7 років тому +2

      The game is a great, albeit lighter introduction to multiple paths to scoring points. If you're well into medium and heavier euros, then it will feel quite light, but if you're looking to introduce your family (particularly kids) to a game that points them in the direction of more enthusiast games, this game fits the bill.

      Can't really say, as I've never played Dice City. From what I understand though, Dice City might have a little more going on but not too far off I suspect.

      Seasons is best online (at Board Game Arena) as a two-player.

    • @LookAtTheBacon
      @LookAtTheBacon 7 років тому

      Jesse Haulk I hate mean games and do love Seasons. Seasons is not at all mean, it's about preparing about what is to come. When you are drafting, you know what your enemies have gotten. So either take the harsher cards yourself or don't let them hurt you by actively playing against them. It's all skill. The shoe that can manipulate the time track can be nasty, yes, but that is literally one card. Just take it out of your games and you're good to go :)

    The name is misleading, i thought it was about making cool gear using specific dice combinations, like say, mana forge with sagrada ingredients.
    But this game is just bland and ... bad. Colorful yes, it might appeal to yankees. But there are much better games that kids also dig, such as Forbidden Desert. The review itself is sound.
