I didn't know that about zinnias. I remember being little and my grandma had lots of them. I thought of them as ugly flowers because they seemed uglier than, say, roses at the time. However, this is my first year as a gardener, and I planted a bunch of zinnia seeds earlier in the year. They're about to bloom, and I'm beyond excited!!! 😍 I love them! ❤❤ thanks so much for all the knowledge! Because of you, I bought my first gomphrenas and I love them so much! Definitely learning a ton from you! It's very helpful because we're in the same zone. I used to live in Chicago too, but now I'm in the suburbs.
Thank you for the gomphrena video. I'm so excited for the lavender color. This is my first time growing that color. Your gomphrena patch is absolutely beautiful! Actually all your flowers are gorgeous!
@ChicagoGardener Oh I know I'm so jealous. My lavender gomphrena is just now starting to flower. I'm in Ohio also zone 6. I'd like to know what you're feeding them! lol
What do you do with the flowers you dry? Thanks great video! I didn’t know I could cut my zinnias & branching sunflowers, I just go out to stare at them but tomorrow I will cut them and make myself a bouquet 💕
Cosmos is one of my favorite flowers and i dont trust ppl who have them in bouquets bc they seem like theyd perform terribly! Happy to see you love statice!!! I have a "lavender" gomphrena from Baker creek and i swear its just magenta which is a little disappointing bc i already have too much pink
I dont know about anyone else, but I have been fighting earwigs all season. I am in the trenches! My zinnias and dahlias have taken the brunt of the earwig attack, which makes me so sad.
I'm not sure what pests I have, but my first few dahlia blossoms were damaged. So I ordered some bulk organza bags off Amazon and am trying the method where you cinch the bag over the new bud and let it develop inside the bag. Looks a little funny in the garden, but so far so good and looking forward to harvesting perfect blooms!

I’m so happy to hear that!! Which gomphrena did you get?
Just started growing zinnias this year , and was wondering how to dead head them thanks for the info.
I’m so glad it was helpful!
Beautiful looking flowers, they are the bees knees.
Thank you!!
I’ve been inspired to try gomphrena next year thanks to you! 💐
Yay!! It’s my favorite to flower to make other people start growing😆
Over 40 years gardening and just now learning about zinnias. I hope it won’t take another 40 to master it. Thank you for the lessons.
And…since statice means memory and remembrance please do a video when you order seeds. 🤪
I definitely will! I usually order in September or October bc I’m afraid the ones I want will sell out if I wait any longer 🤣
잘라낸 꽃을 추가하여 더욱 많은 식물 정원을 관리하는 모습이 멋집니다.
아름다운 꽃들을 많이 볼 수 있는것은 행복한 일이죠..아름다운 영상 감사합니다.
Thank you!!
Everything is looking so beautiful and lushes over there🌱🌱🌺 need to step up my flower game need the beneficial insects 🐝🐞
The more flowers I grow the more insects I attract that help with the pests!
Very nice, awesome share
Thank you so much!!

Thank you! My gomphrena is so far ahead this year. Usually I don’t have flowers until mid to end of July but the bed was full in June this year!

Your zinnias are beautiful mine attract so many butterflies and bees 😊
Yes!! The pollinators love the zinnias.

First I use them to decorate a Christmas tree and then I’ll make wreaths, bouquets, or give them away to other people!

Omg magenta! I planted salmon gomphrena seeds and they’re all deep pink 😂
@@ChicagoGardener srsly wtf. I'll avoid those too

Oh no!! I’ve only ever had a few earwigs find their way up here, I’m assuming brought up in another week.
