0:00 - Intro
BAD:
0:33 - Price*
So here’s the thing, I’m gunna level with you. This is the only thing on the con-side of the video because it’s the only place that I can black and white say - yes this thing is more expensive than the others
But that’s it, the only place I can conceivable ding this thing - now let’s talk about all the places it’s brilliant
-
GOOD:
1:41 - Efficiency & Power
Hybrid Max engine here
2.4 Turbo w/ hybrid system
You DONT get a hybrid in the Pali or Telly
265 hp
310 lbft
Awd w/ dynamic torque control
Mpg 20/26
0-60 in 7.5 ish
Can get 2.5 n/a hybrid for less power but over 30 mpg comb
2:49 - Size & Cargo space
The GH is 6.5 in longer than the Highlander
It’s got a normal SUV shape which maximizes headroom and cargo space
The trunk is HUGE, almost 21 cu ft with the third row up
With it down, you’re approaching 60 cu ft
4:00 - Third row
This third row now has 5.5 inches MORE LEGROOM than the normal Highlander…that’s huge difference
You also get a myriad of toys and amenities back here
This now feels like a competitive space against the Koreans if not bigger
4:38 - The Drive
So it’s big, great it needed to be
But we were also recently in the Mazda CX90, which is also big…for a Mazda, but it had a VERY different driving philosophy
The Mazda missed the point of who the buyer is and what the product is
This doesn't
This is SO CUSHY - there’s not a hard edge anywhere, everything is smooth
We also have a Wrangler 4XE this week and it’s night and day the hybrid handoff refinement from the jeep to the Toyota system
Everything is smooth from power to steering to suspension to cabin refinement
I’m honestly really impressed behind the wheel
Not because it’s fast or it’s fun - which it kinda is, but because it’s EXACTLY what it needs to be
This is a very self aware product and i give it big points for that
5:46 - Towing
This one with the hybrid max powertrain maxes out at 5000 lbs of towing. That’s what a 4runner tows
6:25 - Second Row
Yanno how the third row gets 5.5 extra inches of legroom over the normal highlander? Well the second row gets an extra inch too
It’s perfect back here - the seats slide and recline
You can get heated and cooled rear seats like the CX90 and Pali
You got window shades
BUT my favorite thing is the removable center cupholder thing
Still has gold accents, very posh - but it fits my big bottles
This is like teh 4th car ever to fit my big bottle and the first time ive ever seen it in the back seats
7:12 - The Storage
There’s storage everywhere and it’s huge
Center console? Huge
Phone area in front of cupholders? Also huge
Plus wireless charger
PLus again cupholders big enough for my big bottle - big points
A dashboard cubby? Also huge AND with thoughtful charging port
7:55 - The Ritz
Your whole interior gets this really expensive looking gold accenting
AND it’s paired with this black textured pattern
And it’s integrated everywhere
DOes it feel as expensive or premium as the CX90? No, of course not.
But it feels great for a Toyota, it feels expensive, and it feels like it’ll be durable
Plus you have things like suede in the seats
You have heated and cooled seats frnt and rear
Heated steering wheel
8:35 - Tech & Safety
This is toyota’s updated system we’ve seen in everything since the new Tundra
Wireless ACP, AA
Dual bluetooth connection
Great graphics, very responsive, etc
360 cameras are good and fill in under you
Turn off when you go into drive tho
Can change color of car
Still has stupid egg view
Full digital cluster - nice! That’s tops in class
HUD only on Platinum trims
Safety
TSS 3.0 standard on all trims
First to include driver monitor
Brilliant, but wont change lanes for you
9:33 - Looks
You’ve got a weird Salvador Dali chrome mustache, but the rest of it looks fantastic
Agressive front design with a grille that hints expensive Lexus
Sharp LED runners
Boxy and muscular side profile design that isn’t too busy
And a rear design that’s clean and almost too subtle with its body colored grand highlander script
10:06 - POV Drive
13:00 - Sadie's Take
14:23 - Conclusion - Авто та транспорт
CORRECTION: Hybrid Max is rated at 362 hp and 400 lbft
They need a bench seat option on the Hybrid Max. Captains chairs don't work as well for my family of five.
They have the bench as an option
@@wjoseph-rx9mj Not on Platinum trim.
@@mertersun that’s why it’s call premium, there’s trims that have similar materials
@@wjoseph-rx9mj Not having bench seats is not a premium property.
Just go for the regular hybrid. I don’t understand the point of the HybridMax. It’s like the Sequoia. It’s bad gas mileage. I have the XLE Hybrid and it’s great. Bench seating, which my husband didn’t want, but I really like the bench seating. If you want the luxury, pick the Lexus version.
Sounds impressive! I also like the Sadie’s Take portion of the review.
I liked the “Sadie’s Take” portion of the review, good points from her perspective.
I wish this model has 8 seater option
Don't want a damn hybrid. Sick of batteries.
Toyota learned from the regular Highlander’s shortcomings to make this vehicle the best 3-row SUV available today. It’s basically a 3-row version of the RAV4, which is the best selling SUV by a mile. Huge success for Toyota!
2 family members have previously had a Hyundai Palisade and now have a limited Grand Highlander and they both prefer the Palisade. The only reason they didn't get another Palisade is because our city no longer has a Hyundai dealership.
@@JH93688false story
If you could only find one on the Toyota lot somewhere. I have been wanting to buy one (hybrid) but they have a wait list and it will probably take months to get one. Toyota needs to ramp up the production. Great running vehicle when I test drove one. I have checked several dealers and in different states and none are available without getting on a wait list for several months. I am an impatient person and when I want to buy something , I want it now, oh well , I guess I will have to get on a wait list.
Great video, I owned a GH Platinum. The only issue that I see with the GH is the hood!! The material is so light that you can see how it moves (vibrates) during driving. If you go to a carwash you can see how light the hood is!! Visually is very uncomfortable. Many issues were raised to Toyota, who responded that they are investigating but no security issue at this point!!
I’ve noticed this with other Toyota models as well (also a couple Hyundais I think)
My wife says same thing. I'm canceling my order. not for $53K car.
@@markhu7454understandable!! at the end my experience is incredibly with the new GH. I am happy after all!!
This one's on my buying list. I'm torn between this and the Lexus TX.
havent had a go in the TX, but it will be VERY similar, but with a nicer interior I'm sure
Lexus vs toyota + extra $ for vacations lol
If it had the bench seat I wish the platinum max had this option. Platinum max gets decent mpg. With lots of power .
What about a 6 cylinder? What can you tow with a 4?
can the middle seats be removed, turn into executive class?
hey let me ask you a question. how can I turn on the blinking screen and day time running light? is it available in limited gasoline models?
Its a camera issue for the video
in canada the salesperson if saying 80k canadian is that normal???
My GH hybrid is averaging 35 mpg. Several tanks over 40.
Woah nice!
Why doesnt the rear bumper match the qtr panel on my 50k brand new toyota
👀🤷♂️
The other reviews I've seen have complained about the bizarre automatic braking system.
But I guess that can be turned off?
i didn't run into any issues with that auto-brake the entire week so maybe they patched it with software since those reviews
Another con is this will be in the top 5 to top 10 most stolen vehicles, similar to normal highlander which every yearis in the top 10 in the US and Canada.
It looks very specious. How tall are you?
I’m 6’1”
Awesome
😎
LOOKS GOOD BUT THE SCREEN SHOULD BE MORE MODERN , LIKE A MERCEDES BENZ .
like the hyperscreen?
Mercedes sucks
Do we have 2023 grand highlander. It is 2024 man
Toyota makes the best hybrid in the market plus very reliable vehicles.
Lots of wrong information in this review wow
Wrong info? Do tell.
Look like a giant rav 4
Makes sense 🤷♂️
Non kid-friendly 2nd row folding seats, Non flat 2nd row floor and that stupid mid console make it no way to be a good family suv. How many families have 8 psgs all at 6 feets tall need to be in a suv at same times? see that holes on the back of the seats, just save money on a GDM plastic cover~! Most of the buyers come for a big family suv, not just big. No buy lol
We do lol…We are excited and upgrading from our 2022 Highlander. Can’t wait!!
