@RobertMcCuen Have you not been watching football the last 20 years? Not just the last 20 years. The RB position has changed even over the last 10 drastically. Here how. Running Backs are not as big as they used to be no more than 230-250lb backs are like: Jerome Bettis, Mike Alscott, or Ron Dame. There are no more "Scat backs". Also Teams feature two running backs now. RB play out the RPO now. The expectation of the RB has changed also. The RB is expected to be about to run, block and catch now. The modern RB has a better combination of size and speed. - RB do not line up 5-7 yards in the back field, and are no longer led by a Full back. RBs are taller and much faster. RB doesn't carry the ball 20+ times a game any longer.
No Jeanty! Let's NOT block for him too! You dont get pro bowl RB before pro bowl oline. Follow Detroit! Swift is very good (for now) with good oline. Also, you're too fixed on Senior Bowl picks. There are sooooo many great picks so good that they skipped Senior Bowl. For instance, Tate Ratledge is so much better as G/C option than Zabel. SEC >>>>>>> Div 1. Most of the Senior Bowl players are >#41 picks and just there to improve their stock. With picks 39 &41, Bears should go after the likes of Booker, Donovan Jackson, & Ratledge; not Zabel. Go Bears! Go Swifty!
I’m on the same page with you swift. But I wouldn’t be mad at a trade back and draft jeanty. The 25-50 rage lines up perfectly with the bears needs G, C, DE, DT, S. Having 3 picks in the rage could be very valuable. Especially if you can resign T Jenkins on a value contract
I wouldn't be opposed to Jeanty (RB). He's the only player worthy at 10 to me other than Graham (DT) or Carter (EDGE). I'm not a fan of Hampton (RB). I am warming up more and more to Johnson (RB) of Iowa in the early 2nd Rd. I'd like to trade down some parts in the 1st to pick up some picks. I think there's players like Nolen (DT), Sawyer (EDGE), Grant (DT), or even Zabel (C) later in the first that are worth the value. The only LT that I like is Ersery in the first couple rounds. Campbell and Banks Jr are guards IMHO.
We have the number 10 pick who said we had to pick their it's like y'all criticize Ryan Poles all year long for not supporting his number one overall franchise quarterback now when he has time for redemption you want him to do something stupid like picking a running back when you possibly only have one starter on your offensive line. Do fans not realize that you don't determine who comes to your team in free agency no matter how much cap you have. Do fans not realize that they don't have to pick at #10 its another weapon you have to bargain with. If the pic isn't on the offense or the defensive line then what the hell are we doing everybody always wants to be armchair GM, the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia eagles, Detroit Lions even the damn Washington Commander showed you what trench work means for success in the NFL.
lol i wanted shemar in R1. he’s my de2. i love judkins and neal. me and you have the same favorite prospects. And since we both have such a good eye for talent, I can guarantee you that the NFL is looking at the same people. Which means guys like Stuart and Judkins and neal are all gonna go way higher than we think.
With offenses starting at the 35 yard line, having a great run game will help the bears score points and having a great offence is very important given the current rules and pairing a great running back with Calib will make Calib better. That being said, a good offensive line will make our current running backs effective and help Calib a lot too. Is drafting a RB like Jeanty in the first round this year putting the cart before the horse? probably. We would have to create miracles in free agency for the Bears to take RB in the first round. That being said, a star running back is good for business and given the huge salary totals the bears are paying for coaches this year Mr. Warren may like the idea of Jeanty... I would draft best player available on offensive or defensive line in the first round if you really thought the guy was a lock and likely star.
I agree only if the trenches is addressed adequately. If he’s pick in the first round and the Oline is a mess then it would go down as a huge mistake. Bears have to get a line that’s graded no less than a B+ period, otherwise there is no running game or no passing game either. The Bears can get a good running back in this draft later but I would let teams think I want him to see who wants to move up to get him and receive more draft picks.
I think it make sense a lot of sense remember nothing happens over night in this rebuild if you get your hands on a player like him you make that move let’s go Bear 🐻 Down!!💯👏🏾
Why I won't dismiss the player, I would like to see advanced metrics on Ashton Jeanty. We all saw what changing offensive lines did for Saquon Barkley, I know I have seen one of the advanced metric is how much push his Eagles offensive line gives him this year, believe it's like 1.5 yards past the line of scrimmage before he gets touched, I believe there are several others, like how fast he hits the hole, yards after first contact, ranking his offensive line versus opposition line or defense he faced, etc. there are metrics that translate well into the pros and metric that don't. I have seen some interesting ones in the NFL, not sure if they done for college, or atleast not publicly, would not be surprised if teams had done them for themselves, but they borrowed stuff from hockey and soccer where they had expected yardage per run, expected yardage per play, expected tackle rate, etc,
Pretty much need to see how free agency goes before even considering a RB in the first round. We need upgrades along both lines, 3 min. on offense and 2 min. on defense. That doesn't leave a lot of room for drafting a first round RB.
If they pick him in the first round, fans are going to set fire to the city. I dont see Zabel being available in the 2nd, but you know this stuff better than me. If they dont have any linemen (either side) worth the 9th overall, then they should trade back. That's just me playing couch GM though. As always... I love the channel, thank you for all that you do, and keep killin it!
Personally I would not take a rb in round one unless I traded down but it’s just too early as free agency always rearranges team needs. I still enjoy watching the different takes and mocks just the same. In Poles I trust and he will fix the OL this offseason
I'm fine with drafting jeanty , if we also address the Trenches as well. We were passing to much and linemen hate that. We NEED to establish the running game. The new coaching staff will get these guys right. And I trust poles to get the right linemen in FA and the draft with our other picks
I wouldn’t take RB , but I would be pretty pumped if Bears decided 2 do so. Need to make some big OL signings in free agency b4 even thinking about it.
I know I'm probably about to get criticized in his common section but I really don't want the bears to drive Trey Smith and here's my reason being delete allows Kansas City offensive lineman to get away with a lot of holding any bags the question of how good is Kansas City offensive line if they didn't get away with so much holding during the course of the season and games so I definitely have reserves about Trey Smith
Its a fair point. From what I've seen, his tape is dominant. But he's going to cost $100+ million and won't be in kansas city anymore. He's still my #1 target easily though
@@SwiftSportsNetworkyou read the comment and responded pretty fast I'm not saying he not going to be good but I just don't think he's going to be as good as he was in Chicago they're not going to let him get away with the holding that they let them get away with in Kansas City and as long as everybody realized that I'm cool with signing him
@@SwiftSportsNetwork so that mean I'm quite sure that you took account and thought about what I was talking about before I even mentioned it I've been watching football 85 the league do not like the bears and they really want them to fail
He's a very special unique player. Most definitely He's a top10 player in this draft. I do think the Bears need a DE/DT and a Guard. I'm good either way.
The Bears might take guard Kevin Zeitler from The Lions which would be a good start because he already has a connection to Ben Johnson but they already have another guard Trey Smith who they haven’t signed but many think he might choose Chicago because Poles was the person who was in charge of drafting him in Kansas City. And if they also signed Drew Dalman maybe Jeanty would be an intelligent move
I wouldn’t be mad in certain scenarios If the Bears don’t view either top Lineman as a Tackle in the NFL and are sticking with Braxton to address the interior OL which can be done in the 2nd round. Guards aren’t worth a Top 10 pick just like you can argue a RB isn’t either. Bears gotta make 2 big signings for RG and Center in FA. Would have no problem getting Jeanty if these happened. I’d feel better trading back and taking him though
People who don’t think that running back is either our first or second need next to defensive line are idiots. We have not had an elite running back since Matt Fort, and no matter what anybody says the key to winning is running the ball which opens up the field too much throw the balland control the clock. A good RB is also a good alignment.
I don't think it would be a stupid decision to take Ashton Jeanty, I just think it would be the wrong one. If we're going to select a running back I believe trading down and drafting Omarion Hampton would be a better option. I think Hampton will have the better NFL career and I like how he can run through defenders. Better compliment to the dart and dash DeAndre Swift and our running game in my opinion.

Suppose the Bears choice for oline is gone at 10 and there are no dline players they like either, and moving back is not an option...the bears could find themselves drafting Jeanty by default as Best Player Available.
The Lions didn’t draft Gibbs before they built their OL Zero chance that this happens…considering the depth of RB in this year’s draft EVERYONE was calling Bijan generational.
Unless ASHTON JEANTY can be another Walter Payton, Emmit Smith or Saquan Barkley, the bears can't use him with all the other needs on both lines. Unless they do a draft and trade with another team.
This would be a bad start to the Ben Johnson regime! The Bears aren't a RB away and this draft is too deep at RB to waste a Top 10 pick on one. I hope this is just a smoke screen by the Bears front office.
Anytime the Chicago media voices their opinions you just have to cringe! I agree on building out the trenches, and we can get a talented RB later in the draft. Exciting times in Chicago Town!!!🐻👇🏼
I hope not, we will be making the same mistake we did last year drafting WR last year in the 1st. All our picks should be on the OL and DL. Jeanty would have no holes to run through no matter how good he is, so yes it would be a stupid pick. Being creative with OL picks has put us in the predicament we are in now. Having 2 average tackles and also often hurt/old/bad center and guards. Also a 3rd round pick who do anything meaningful this year on the OL.
I believe if we take care of our Guard and defensive end needs in free agency AND we trade down then a running back as possible. Let’s not get things twisted and call Ashton Genty generational he is from a smaller school did not face top competition and when he did face top competition, his yards per carry dropped dramatically . I believe he’s the second best running back in the draft. Omarion Hampton maybe a better NFL prospect. I believe he will be available between 17 and 32 in the first round.
Pass... Jeanty benefited playing in the Mountain West. I would focus in on other RBs in the 2nd or 3rd round. Like the two OSU RBs... Like Henderson, who is 5-10 212 that runs in the sub 4.4 40time and had over 1000 yards in less that 150 carries. Plus, he is better blocker and receiver than Jeanty.
Jeanty would be shit behind Bears 2024 OLine. How many times was Swift gobbled up behind the line of scrimmage last year? Swift averaged 5.5 and 4.6 per carry behind the Lions and Eagles OLines respectively and averaged only 3.8 behind the Bears 2024 OLine. Speaking of the Eagles OLine, it transformed Barkley from an afterthought to a MVP candidate. Same thing happened to Henry; he looked washed up until you put him behind the #2 ranked Ravens OLine. It’s amazing that the 2 RBs who stood head and shoulders above the rest in 2024 both looked like scrubs the year before when they lined up behind OLines that’s comparable to what we currently have in Chicago. So all this is to say if we want to fix our run game, we have to fix our OLine and get more push up front rather than bringing in new RBs.
I agree, we need to build the trenches, did you listen to the video? Also, did you know the only 1st round pick on the entire Oline that the Eagles draft was the RT? LT = 7th round pick LG & C = 2nd round picks.
@@SwiftSportsNetwork on the flip side we also only have one 1st rounder on our OLine, and he’s the only one we feel good about going into 2025. Just because the Eagles and Chiefs can find diamonds in the rough and put together a solid OLine without using first round picks doesn’t mean we can. Hell, Poles has been trying to replicate that for years and our OLine, especially the interior, is absolutely garbage in run blocking and pass blocking. I will agree with you though that signing Trey Smith would certainly give us options at #10, and I agree Poles should draft a RB, but still drafting one at #10 when this draft is deep at RB feels too rich for me. I would go DLine in the first round if we’ve properly addressed OG during FA. Also, yeah us Bears fans are envious of what the Lions have, but we’re envious of their play callers and their OLine. I don’t think any knowledgeable Bears fan is envious of the Lions having Monty and Gibbs.

Offensive line first, however elite free gents, count as addressing the line. I’m with you on Ashton.
Sawyer ain’t a first round talent. lol
lol i wanted shemar in R1. he’s my de2. i love judkins and neal.
me and you have the same favorite prospects. And since we both have such a good eye for talent, I can guarantee you that the NFL is looking at the same people. Which means guys like Stuart and Judkins and neal are all gonna go way higher than we think.
FREE AGENCY COMES FIRST ‼️ THEN WE CAN BE FLEXIBLE
Poles is trying to bait teams into trading up with Bears at No.10 😅😂
No way Shemar Stewart falls to the second round
This one is tough. I think he's a 1st rounder, but with just 1.5 sacks and the overall talent of the edge class, it could definitely happen.
I agree…it’s a great pick, if you nail down everyone you want in FA!
Fantasyland
I agree Swifty
I agree only if the trenches is addressed adequately. If he’s pick in the first round and the Oline is a mess then it would go down as a huge mistake. Bears have to get a line that’s graded no less than a B+ period, otherwise there is no running game or no passing game either. The Bears can get a good running back in this draft later but I would let teams think I want him to see who wants to move up to get him and receive more draft picks.
Yes, yes, yes, yes, gentee to the Bear sounds really nice.
I think it make sense a lot of sense remember nothing happens over night in this rebuild if you get your hands on a player like him you make that move let’s go Bear 🐻 Down!!💯👏🏾
I really liked Omarian Hampton from NC as well. I would be happy to pick O Hamp up in the 2nd round if possible.
Yes, this is only considered if they nail several FA needs; enough to allow the rest of the draft to fill most of the rest.
We need an O Line. I like your mock draft.
Two no brainier s can be done at once drafting A J and build the trenches🤷🏽! Common sense! Ultimately I trust Ryan Poles to cook!
If Poles can sign some OL & DL starting talent in free agency, then I'd be fine with them drafting Jeanty with the 10th pick. But that's a big IF.
I mentioned about the Bears needing to draft him in the 2nd round two weeks on Nomads podcast.. wasn't thinking about first round.
@@JusB17No way he drops to the 2nd round!
If . If..we are able to solidify the line in FA or some other way prior to the draft sure. Line must be first.
If we get linemen through FA, i like the pick
The difference is that Detroit had a great offensive line already in place.
Would love if the bears drafted him 💪🏼😬😱
We need help in the trenches much more than we need a clone RB. If and when we draft another RB, I would rather get thunder, not more lightning.
Drafting him at 10 is a fireable offense. We need O lineman.
I would trade back to the low 20's to the Broncos or Chsrgers which you gain a massive haul of draft picks, enabling us to draft trenches plus RB. WR.
@@SwiftSportsNetworkyou read the comment and responded pretty fast I'm not saying he not going to be good but I just don't think he's going to be as good as he was in Chicago they're not going to let him get away with the holding that they let them get away with in Kansas City and as long as everybody realized that I'm cool with signing him
And one last thing the general manager is Nick fury Ben Johnson is Captain America and the rest of the staff is The avengers
@juliusblackwell342 I've done a TON of thinking about Trey Smith already
@@SwiftSportsNetwork so that mean I'm quite sure that you took account and thought about what I was talking about before I even mentioned it I've been watching football 85 the league do not like the bears and they really want them to fail
He's a very special unique player. Most definitely He's a top10 player in this draft. I do think the Bears need a DE/DT and a Guard. I'm good either way.
Bears are too much of a finess team. Poles has to go heavy to get more physical quick learning players going forward.
Just watched his 2024 highlights. If Gibbs and Barkley had a baby. Lions did it, this time we need to. 😊🎉
I wouldn’t be mad in certain scenarios
If the Bears don’t view either top Lineman as a Tackle in the NFL and are sticking with Braxton to address the interior OL which can be done in the 2nd round.
Guards aren’t worth a Top 10 pick just like you can argue a RB isn’t either.
Bears gotta make 2 big signings for RG and Center in FA.
Would have no problem getting Jeanty if these happened. I’d feel better trading back and taking him though
I don't think it would be stupid, but that means the next 3 picks better be OL & DL
Trenches, trenches, trenches, trenches (4 of the first 5 picks). Poles get it done! 🐻⬇️
Yea, but the have like 4-5 1st round olinemen...
Lions drafted Gibbs after they had built up their offensive line. That is a big distinction.
This RB class is deeeeeeep they need oline first then snag one in the 3rd
I love it
There are plenty of good backs later in this draft. We need picks in the trenches.
People who don’t think that running back is either our first or second need next to defensive line are idiots. We have not had an elite running back since Matt Fort, and no matter what anybody says the key to winning is running the ball which opens up the field too much throw the balland control the clock. A good RB is also a good alignment.
We should draft rb in 3rd round. A guy like Ollie Gordon would be nice
Free agency will change everything. I’m hoping for mostly trench work for FA and then we will see
Lions had an offensive line before they started drafting running backs. This is common sense. Don’t fuck it up bears.
OUTSTANDING LOOKING BOARD ON YOUR MOCK DRAFT SWIFTY , AND THESE YOUNGSTERS COULD MAKE A BIG IMPACT ON OUR TEAM , BUT I GUESS I'M DREAMING , BUT I FOUND OUT EARLIER IN LIFE THAT IT COSTS NOTHING TO DREAM , BUT A SLEEPLESS NIGHT ! BUT AS YOU SWIFTY MA MAN WE NEED " HELP IN THE TRENCHES " , AND THAT IS A FACT . " THAT'S JUST STUPID ".
THAT'S IT BRO YOU ARE STATING A FACT
Stop yelling bruh. CAPS MUCH!?
Why all caps?? Gave me a headache reading that
@toofast75
SIMPLE : DON'T READ IT ! I'VE BEEN WRITING LIKE THIS SINCE I JOINED FACEBOOK . NO ONE ELSE GETS HEAD ACHES ! AT LEAST THAT I KNOW OF .
AS A MATTER OF A FACT YOU'RE THE FIRST ONE !
@lupecanez9631 it was a joke dude. I didn't really get a headache. Since you joined Facebook? Did Facebook piss you off so bad that you just had to yell all the time??
@toofast75 KINDA SORTA ! YOU AS WELL AS I KNOW F B. THEY CAN BE TOUGH ON ANYONE ! MY APOLOGIES
BUT I WAS IN A THEATER OF WAR
( DESERT STORM ) , AND I DIDN'T COME BACK THE SAME . 25 YRS IN THE ARMY CAN DO STRANGE THINGS TO A MIND , BUT I LOVED MY JOB ! AGAIN I APOLOGIZE FOR YELLING AT YOU .
EVEN IF IT WAS A JOKE !
Suppose the Bears choice for oline is gone at 10 and there are no dline players they like either, and moving back is not an option...the bears could find themselves drafting Jeanty by default as Best Player Available.
The Lions didn’t draft Gibbs before they built their OL
Zero chance that this happens…considering the depth of RB in this year’s draft
EVERYONE was calling Bijan generational.
But Jeanty ran for a small school program. Running against JV teams compared to the other huge schools . I dont want Jeanty
Didnt Jeanty run for 192 yards against the Oregon Ducks who were number 1 most of the season??? He also had 104 against Penn State
@doitall36 good for him
Could we use another "Billings" type and could "Big Drex" set the edge and rush the passer at Right D.E.?
I would be over the moon with your offseason scenario, people saying itd be the worst in history dont know football
I Repeat!!!! Taking a RB at 10 that is mid at best is how you get FIRED!!!!
Kaleb Johnson is without a doubt is a better RB than jeanty. He carried Iowa against a way harder schedule
A running back at 10 is unheard of (I have to laugh 😆 ) . Because I think the Bears trade back for and 2or3pixs and pick up Jeanty. BearDown
Bijan Robinson, Saquon Barkley, Todd Gurley, Ezekeil Elliott are just the recent examples of RBs in the top 10.
Gibbs went #12.
The Lions built up the trenches before they drafted Gibbs
Unless ASHTON JEANTY can be another Walter Payton, Emmit Smith or Saquan Barkley, the bears can't use him with all the other needs on both lines. Unless they do a draft and trade with another team.
Kaleb Johnson is who we should take
Ben Johnson might see some Gibbs similarities. If we go heavy on O-line in FA to protect Williams then Gibbs is a viable pick
We don’t need a running back at 10. Will Campbell or Tyler Booker at all cost!!
Pass, the competition he played against worries me!!!
Let's trade back and get Omarion Hampton
BEAR DOWN!
Plank……🐻👇🏼 bro, excited about how this coaching staff is being build!
@flabearsfan6698 MEEEE TOOOO!!
We drafted Walter in round one. If you want the best ....
Jeanty= Shadow vs Sonic & Knuckles
That's what Detroit Fans can Gibbs and Foreman. Get original!
Do not use 10 pick on him we need to fix the line
No way! Unless we trade down and take him mod -late 1 st. To many needs throughout
If Bears don’t draft a defensive or offensive lineman at 10 they should all be fired
We need to trade back. We a can pick up a RB in the second round.
Do it Ryan.
He could b like the lions RB but fuck no we need o line or a passs rusher
LT = 7th round pick
LG & C = 2nd round picks.
