Thanks for the continued updates! The dealer installed the shift assist prior to me picking up my TS660 and I was getting the Transmission Fault message every time I switched on the bike. The shift assist functioned flawlessly so I rode it to the 600 mile service as it was. That service was done yesterday. They said they reset all the electronics, re-enabled the accessories I had installed and recalibrated the shift assist. Now I get no more error messages and the shift assist (and bluetooth module) are working perfect. I look forward to more of your content.
I am getting my tiger this coming weekend my salesman is really pushing me to get the quick slip clutch and it looks like it's nearly $500 to get it installed do you know if it's really worth it? What are the main advantages?
Getting same issue with intermittent upshifts so have opted to just manual shift for now until next service . I also installed the puig wind deflector and that resolved the wind noise issue for me .
That's not cool, I was hoping Triumph would have fixed this issue by now. I never had a perfectly working shifter. It was better after the replacement, but still had minor issues from time to time.
V. Good professional comment directly from the bike owner mouth. That's the way to go. Thriumph make it's indicated as a flawless according to the manufacturers stats. But sometimes is otherwise. From my point of view such comments would keep the manufacturer cautious and respectively on it's toes ..
Bought the Trident for Junior. Had the shift assist installed from dealer in Tucson. Irs been on for a couple months. Junior never had it on a bike. I have them on my Daytona Moto2 and Speed Triple 1200RR. I rode his today and it's absolutely awful. I adjusted the lever, it was too high. Even lowered its awful. We're in Tucson. Calling dealer Tuesday.
I bought a second hand Trident with QS already fitted. I got this intermittent issue on the first ride home. The dealer reset it when i came in a few days later. Issue once again on the ride home. Then got the QS replaced under warranty. Once again issue came up on the ride home. Then riding season was over and I just put the bike in storage over the winter. Few weeks ago after taking the bike out of storage I got the dealer to look at it again since I was taking it in for the two year service anyway. This time they reset the QS but forgot to activate and relearn the unit. So I did not even make it out of the dealers parking lot, but the workshop had closed so I had to ride home without QS and complain again. Once home I also checked if they had done all the service items and they did not touch anything other than oil, filter and brake fluid. This was the last straw from me. Today they drove a van to my house to pick it up and try to fix it and make it up to me etc. etc. I love the bike even tho I have never had this much issues with a bike or a dealership ever before. And I have owned multiple Ducati's over the last years. I just really hope they fix my bike this time. And after that I'm never bringing it back to that dealer again. I'm glad that yours seem to be fixed, it gives me hope that mine has a chance too
I didn't have the greatest experience, even after three repairs/re-calibrations. It still worked most of the time. The times that it didn't just added to the disappointment. It could be dealer inexperience or a flaw with the shifter module itself.
Found your video great. I'm about to buy a Trident 660 and am transitioning from Honda NC750X DCT if the Trident works for me with the shifter. I too have progressive arthritis in my left thumb so will be trying out an easy pull unit in combination with the shifter. I must say though that the DCT is a great system once you have explored all its features and use the appropriate mode for the part of the journey you are on because there are times when sport mode is necessary and vice versa with auto mode. Can't say I use manual mode much except on down changes at junctions and steep hills in our part of the world (UK Lakes and Dales). I am keeping the NC750 until I am convinced that I can fully transition to the Trident. The Trident weighs in a whole lot lighter and as age takes it's toll adaptations are necessary to continue with the passion for riding! I was unsure about the shifter but your video has me convinced. Thank you. Don
Thanks for the comment! I have found that the clutch pull is very light on my Tiger Sport 660. It hasn't been an issue for stop-and-go riding around town. After having the quick shifter worked on a couple of times it seems to finally be fixed now.
Great review, just bought the same bike with a factory fitted shifter. Unfortunately it’s one storm after another here in the UK at the moment. As soon as we have a dry day I’ll be out testing it. Will add my experience later. Love the extended screen fitment, can tell me we’re you sourced please. Cheers Mike
Having problems with mine, won’t change up & only goes down from 6th to 5th, been in touch with triumph dealership, they reopen Tuesday, I await their responce, Personally I’d take it off, but we shall see
👍,I test rode one of these bikes today; a good little bike with lots of poke for it's engine size, having a close look around it I could see it's built to a price, shift and rear brake foot controls stamped steel items, a little too cheap in my book. The bike had 55 mls on it and the chain was starting to rust? If I buy one I would speck the quick-shift option. I look forward to more of your posts they are very good. Thanks.
I have a 2023 Speed Triple - different type of bike, but as I understand it, it uses the exact same QS module as any other modern Triumph. Did you ever figure out what the main problem ever was? Mine has stopped working, but only it seems when the bike is hot - like not 'warmed up the coolant' hot, but as in the bike has definitely been running for an hour or so and its hot through (as a motorcycle should be). Once the bike cools off, the QS works again (so far). I've called and left a voicemail with my local dealer, and I'd love any additional info I could share with them if you found out what it was 'for sure', or narrowed it down to a couple of potentials. I hate intermittent issues like this...
The dealer ran diagnostics and found that the shift signal was not transmitting through the wires of the QS module consistently. I was able to have the dealer replace the QS under warranty, but the replacement was never 100% reliable. After two more visits to have the dealer calibrate it, it finally worked pretty good most of the time. It still had issues at times. They were never able to pinpoint why the issue happened. Could be a bad batch of QS modules, or a design flaw that shows symptoms over time. Mine did not have many miles on in though.
@@KSSTUDIOS Thanks for the reply; I got mine into the shop and they didn't go into details, but they told me that there's an issue with mine as well - given that it fails only intermittently (mostly when hot), it sounds like we had the same sort of problem. Sorry to hear that yours continued to be problematic - I hope that's not the case with mine, as on a sports-oriented bike, a QS suddenly failing at the wrong time can really mess things up...
If it was me I would not use the quickshifter/blipper at all in these riding conditions such as yours in this video, meaning use the clutch in traffic and stop go between traffic lights. Especially when going from 1st to 2nd the quickshifter is a no no.The quick shifter is meant to be used in quick riding either track or a nice twisty road you're familiar with, with no or rare traffic. Anyways hope the dealer solves the issue.
I was surprised you went with Triumph after having a Honda in all honesty. I personally love my CB500F, it is such an easy bike and with no issues whatsoever. I do understand the aspect of novelty though :). Hopefully, this will be the only issue you are faced with.
i read it somewhere that quick shifter needed to be in certain RPM to work properly since quick shifter are design to be used in track which you usually shift in high RPM and i notice you are always shifting in low RPM around 3000RPM to 4500RPM, try to use the quick shifter above 6000RPM and give as an update if this changes anything. the first i heard it is when BMW introduce it to their line up.
It ended up being a faulty shift assist unit. Service manual states that the RPM's should be above 1,500 to prevent stalling, but the 3,000-4,000 RPM range is quite normal and very smooth when everything is working correctly.
Hello, I add myself to this list of comments. Understanding that for the QS to work, the TSA must be activated in the screen menu, in addition to traction control. When doing so and occupying the QS, it throws me an error in which I turn on three lights on the screen: engine, damaged transmission and high temperature. Anyone else has happened? Do you know if the QS has a limited warranty for its review and change if it fails by the dealer?----------------------- TRADUCCIÓN: hola, me agrego a esta lista de comentarios.
Hi there … have you found that the little windscreen on top that you have installed made the helmet noise quieter?? And that is the brand of the small windscreen? Thanks in advance !! Hamish 😊
@@KSSTUDIOS thank you so much for your quick reply … I’ll look into it…. I’ve been thinking when I get my 660 tiger I’d cut the windscreen down a bit to get clear air flowing over my helmet.
Thanks for sharing your experience with the quick shift. I've read about others having issues as well. I agree on a bike like the TS660 with easy shifting and a generally light clutch pull, the QS is a nice to have but not a necessity. I hope the issue is finally resolved for you. The TS660 is a finalist for my next bike and I noticed on my test rides the wind noise is quite high regardless of windshield height setting. I also experienced helmet buffeting in the mid to high settings. I love everything about the bike except wind management. You didn't really comment on how effective the spoiler is. Did it make a meaningful difference for comfort and noise? Thanks
The screen visor made a little bit of a difference with the noise for me. At 6'0", I really haven't had issues with buffeting. I did experience it once out on the open road before I installed this but it was an extremely windy day and it only happened on the return trip.
Man, I really like this bike, but little things like this keep getting me off from buying it rightout. Hope that they improve some of their design flaws, like the weird throttle response of the trident, the plastics overall which are loose on some points, etc. They should come out with a GT/Pro edition and include, at least add them to the available accessories, cruise control and a center kick stand. Hope it will sell a lot, 'cuz at a local dealer they haven't been doing so well.
Fit and finish is definitely not as good as their premium bikes. You can tell it was built to a price point. I still feel that it's a good bike with a great engine.
It's a bike with a lot of defects. Mine's quick shift can't even be repaired in Vietnam. I was quite disappointed with the durability and technology of the triumph.

hi, is it possible to install a Quickshifter on this bike by yourself? Just plug in the cables or something else?
You can install the hardware yourself but the bike needs a software activation by a Triumph service technician.

Almost $450 with parts and labor.
