    Sold the cb1100 the other day. Here's the last ride I did on the bike where I reveal how much I paid and reminisce on the good times spent with the Honda.

    I've had one since the end of July 19, put 7500 miles on it, and it is one of my 5 bikes. Probably one of the easiest bikes to ride ever, and I have been riding 40 years. I simply love it.

    Bought a like new 2014 with 3500 miles today in July 2022 for $6500. It's like new and was the best deal of any I've seen. Most low mileage ones are closer to 7500 now.

    I like that bike because of the old style look. It reminds me of a 1971 Honda CB350 I had. I'm sure it's got a lot more power than the 350.

    Hate to hear your getting rid of it. i have had mine for a month now and love mine the same bike and its plain jane but once you change the exhaust tip and put your own mods on it. It turns into a badass looking bike and the new shorty cone tip on the exhaust sounds nasty and mean that turns heads and you get thumbs up

    In-line 4cyl is super smooth and powerful. A few weeks ago you mentioned a Kawasaki Concours, which got me thinking. Found out how affordable the early models are. Considering a ZG1000, 1994 or newer for myself. Assume you''re looking for the more recent 1400. Will be an interesting video. Stay safe!

    I just bought one. It's a great bike. Especially if you have Italian bikes in the stable. The Honda might not be as sexy but it's an original Honda. It starts. It stops. It handles...

    I had a 2002 CB750 and loved that bike.... mostly. It was lighter than the CB1100 and would not scrape parts even in serious cornering. But it was carbureted and lacked some other refinements of the 1100. HOWEVER, that last incarnation of the CB750 did not suffer the weight or cornering clearance issues of the 1100. Also, and this is no small issue, it had hydraulic valve lifters (DOHC, 4 valves per cyl). Think about that and then think about having to pull camshafts and sort through shims when having to adjust tappet clearance. Also, fuel economy was lacking at about 41-45 mpg (it was carbureted).
    In my opinion all Honda had to do was take the 750 and add fuel injection (extra performance and improved fuel economy), ABS, slipper clutch, and upgraded suspension. Maybe add a 6th gear, maybe not. Keep the wet weight of the bike to under 500 lbs, with the 4.76 gallon tank of the 750. 80+ hp and 55+ mpg?
    My 2002 carbureted CB750 had all the power a sane person could want (77hp at the engine, not at the wheel). A modernized fuel injected version would sell like hot cakes with no worries about scraping parts in a normal lean and no $600+ mechanic cost just for setting valve clearance. Yes, it was a little tall in the saddle (30.7" seat height) but it did not easily scrape parts in the twisties and was a turbine smooth banshee with no tappet adjustment required - ever.

    There's a Yamaha I like better, very similar bike, but it's never been sold in North America. The xjr 1300, discontinued in 2016, and who doesn't love the Suzuki Bandit.

    • @mikeca98
      @mikeca98 3 роки тому

      If you're talking about bikes that can't be imported, I would add a new Honda Super Four 1300. My FJR is close enough to an XJR for me, but I would like an XJR as well. I dusted off my CB1100 today for a 50 mile ride. Being 6'-2", it feels a little small for me, especially since I primarily ride the FJR. You definitely need to hang on more with the CB1100 on the freeway over 70 mph, with it being a true naked bike. It's a capable well-built bike that looks faster than it really is...but it's still a big improvement over the old CB750's , KZ's and GS's.

    I own this bike, an R1 and a Fat Boy. I’ll never sell the Honda, never, love the light weight, the ultimate smooth power and quality construction. Wheelie? Wheelies are for punk kids who like to break the law, it’s reckless driving and the ticket is huge. It also makes all riders look bad. If you wheelie, grow up.
