Yeah tear these value resorts down and make it so expensive that only is rich white people can enjoy. Thank you for this awesome white privilege video.
yes ..now smells like Marijuana... and this comes from the guests. There is a fine to be charged. If the guest smokes inside the room, they are not smoking floors. It has a floor for smokers.
For most cities I would agree but in Vegas I've actually paid that for rooms and had really nice ones (not at those properties though. Ick). I'm not a high roller either, I don't even gamble but still have found amazing deals in the last 10 years for rooms on the Strip and downtown.
Leon Delgaudio I had a the same experience when I stayed at the Excalibur. My room had the most comfortable bed of any hotel and it was very quiet. I’ll definitely stay at Excalibur in the future
Paying $19/night for a room in central Las Vegas and being surprised at the horrible experience is like paying 19¢ for a Happy Meal imitator then being surprised at getting rancid mystery meat and sawdust bread. (But I did enjoy the video and think you did a great service for humanity.)
I love the Excalibur! It’s supposed to look old! It’s a medieval castle for goodness sakes! It’s awesome! And lots of places in Vegas smell like marijuana now...lol! Even the Bellagio room hallways smell like pot sometimes! Sheesh! People are too uptight! And if you want a great view, book a room with a view of the strip! It’s really not that hard!
Listening to you read these reviews with just the amount of emotion/dry delivery is just slaying me right now. Cracking up and you’re just destroying me.
Been living here over 50 years. In the 70s and 80s Las Vegas was the place to come. Eating was cheap and good. Drinks were free if you were gambled. Rooms were reasonable. But today, everyone wants your money, and they’ll get it all!!!! But one thing for sure, it is an exciting place to come. A lot of fun, but you’ll pay for it.
@ t mac I lived there in the 80's, Eastern and Warm Springs was nothing but a stop sign and a 7-11. I remember Eastern out to Henderson curved around a telephone pole. I also remember the Excalibur being built and have photos circa 88 (?) of the lower half built. Sad to see all the development and what the city has turned into. People of today sure missed out on what it was, just like I missed out on what it was in the 50's and 60's.
+studio effects I missed that era too. Of course then the downtown area was the place to go, now it's the place to avoid. Most of the Strip as we know it now, was just a few hotels and a lot of dirt.
I don't get the excitement part at all. Las Vegas strip is a terrible, overpriced depressing shit hole of a place. Some parts of the city are OK, but nothing to rave about.
I live here in Vegas and the thing you must remember is unlike other cities, there is a steady influx of visitors 365 days a year. Not just weekends or holidays, etc. So when you go to a cheap hotel, remember that you will be there with the families with 5 screaming kids, drug addicts and pushers, street prostitutes, loud drunks, etc. Places with low room rates aren't in it for service, they are in it for money. So they don't put any $$ into maintenance, upgrades, etc. As the room rates go higher you are not only paying for nicer properties, you are paying for better service and better company, to be frank.
This is an excellent video. As an ex-Lss vegas resident who worked in various hotels, you're right on the money. I used to feel so bad telling people about the resort fee. Always make sure you ask that when you're getting a room. People would complain about the room smelling like pot (this was center strip hotels). I didn't feel safe driving home late at night. Anyway, cheers to you. You give great information.
I stayed at the Excalibur and actually enjoyed it the room was clean we had good access to the outside world very quickly I don't remember checking in taking any longer than maybe 5 minutes and the greatest part was we had a really good view of New York New York across the way.
Peter Stawicki I like the Castle, too! I’m afraid they’ll “TI” it, Luke they did to Treasure Island or, worse”Monte Carlo” it (change it’s theming altogether).
I stayed there once for one of the first concerts held at the then-new T-Mobile Arena. I guess I just lucked out with the room because I was fascinated by being able to watch all the busses and trucks pull up the day of. But I really don't like LV and truly did only come for the concert, so even though I had absolutely no issues with the room or the amenities, I'm probably not the most well-rounded reviewer out there.
@@steven1234554321 - But, was it a nice room? I haven't stayed there, but I have been inside there and it is really luxurious and also it is brand new...
Two stays at the Excalibur a few year ago. Perfectly fine for my needs. Never waited more the 10 min to check in. Nice room overlooking the airport. Nice to watch the planes take off and land. Easy access to the other hotels around. You get what you pay for.
I first stayed in Vegas in 1989 in a Best Western which was where the Excalibur carpark is now Excalibur was not quite finished then in OCT 1989 so is due for demolition now as we saw it in 2014 and didnt think much of it then.
I never realized how cheap some rooms can be in Vegas. I stayed at the Paris, the last time I went there. It's located right in the middle of the Vegas strip. The room was very nice. Price was very high though. I kept winning at the roulette table while there. So that paid for everything.
I would have to disagree with your evaluation of the Excalibur. Although it looks a little dated, it is relatively clean and well run, and the check in line is on par with what I've experienced at other hotels. I've stayed there about a dozen times myself, and while I wouldn't say it's an AMAZING hotel, it is definitely not in the same category as the Travelodge. I've never known anyone who stays at the Excalibur to have a horror story, whereas there are many other strip hotels I've heard horror stories from (Tropicana for example).
Agreed, we stayed here last year at Excalibur and liked it better than the MGM. Room was clean and staff was great, and the lines were average from what we have seen, it was faster than the line at the MGM, that took us forever. The hotel itself does need to be updated, the carpets look old and needs new paint.
I agree. Horrible choice. It's one of the best despite the dated part. Unless you are rich and don't mind the $200 tag, This is the best value and location on the strip.
2enrol Excalibur is one of the oldest hotels there it should have been torn down a long time ago or at least renovated as far as Travelodge Travelodge is the worst wherever you go
SUPERB. How refreshing it is to see someone with a sense of humor and who knows how to create an interesting and informative video with perfect narration.
I like your videos, but im bummed that you litteraly just read reviews from trip advisor. I was expecting to see you walk into the rooms and such. Also where is the yellow shirt!
+VicandDes Sorry.. I don't actually want to stay at any of these places! :). The yellow shirt will be back. I did more videos on this trip than I had clean yellow shirts :)
I really like Excalibur. I have stayed here many times (stayed in February 2020) and enjoy the pool and the theming. The rooms were clean. (Loves the mattress)We stayed on a higher floor and the food court and dragon dungeon was a lot of fun. I think it needs some sprucing up but it’s definitely got a lot of good left to offer if they out money in it.
Why go to Vegas to sleep? If I get a room with a nice girl yes ok 200on a sweet indeed, but if I’m in town and just partying I wanna bathe and sleep and get the fuck up out of the room. Usually that’s what these cheap hotels are for, sluts and sleep.
It's clear the owners of the Travelodges and Motor Lodge are just waiting for the right developer to sell out to, so they let the buildings deteriorate until they get the right offer when the time is right for the developers. My landlord was doing the same thing with my last apartment building.
violetshamrock I go every year and it’s getting more and more pricey every time! The drinks are very expensive unless your gambling at a slot or table then you wait forever to order a drink and receive it. Every pool sight we attended has at least $18 drinks for one drink. Where do you suggest to get drinks cheap? We did just get our drinks from Walgreens. Lol but to attend the dance parties at the hotel bars the drinks are not affordable at all.
I have been in this town for a long time, (over thirty years). Hotels here are not overpriced for what you get. I just got back from a road trip starting in Virginia. I can't believe some of the places that offer themselves up as a hotel all across the U.S. And even some lousy motels want a hundred bucks a night. Compared to that Las Vegas is actually a bargain. As far as food goes: all across America, but especially the Midwest, it is beef in various forms, pared with french fry's. Here in Las Vegas I have a choice of literally hundreds of restaurants, all mostly different. I gladly pay a premium for good food. Another thing, I see complaints about over priced drinks. I hardly ever pay for a drink. The moment I sit at a slot machine I get a free drink. Well, I usually tip a buck or so. So, if you know your way around Las Vegas you can live pretty cheaply. Except for that buffet I recently had. That one set me back $75 per. That one I did not think worth the money. Bur I know of one hotel were the price for the buffet includes all the mixed drinks, beer/wine you can handle. If you want to know which one it is shoot me an email webmeister@lasvegasvisitor.com
I remember when the Excalibur was being built. Hard to believe it’s outdated. Everyone said that once it was built rooms in Vegas would be $10 due to an over abundance.
I live in Vegas and you are right on, these are the worst hotels here, along with Circus Circus. Its because its cheap as our nice hotels cost around 150 plus a night. They should blow these hotels up and rebuild.
Now I'm not endorsing organized crime in any respect but you have to admit that since the expulsion of the mob families influence on Las Vegas the city has really gone downhill ! Old Las Vegas is truly dead, customer service is in its grave, you're all just a number when you come here . I'm very sorry .
That does not work anymore. Paying in full beforehand will still add in the resort fees. This is one of the ways that they Vegas is paying for the T-Mobile arena and Raiders stadium.
I'm surprised you said only the cheap hotels have the hotel fees when they all have them. The Four Seasons, Bellagio, Skylofts At MGM Grand (over $4,000 dollars for a 4 night stay has a $39 a night hotel fee).
The Excalibur does not deserve to be on this list! I hate it when people bash that place. It's themed after medieval times, it's supposed to be dark and dingy!!
I'm with you. Excalibur was the first Vegas hotel I stayed in, so it has a special place in my heart. Also the pool area is really great for the price you pay.
Totally agreed. Last time I visited Las Vegas was last September and my family decided to stay in the Luxor because my sister in law and her husband didn't like the Excalibur. She said the rooms were old, food was average and service was not good enough. We paid double for the Luxor just to find the pools were out of service, the rooms looked old, the remote control wasn't working, I called room service twice to have the remote replaced and they would do the room but the remote was never replaced. Long story short, the staff wasn't up to par for the price we paid. We ended up walking to Excalibur's pool and casino, the staff was a lot better than Luxor's and I actually liked the place, it was far from musty, although it definitely would benefit from a new paint job and maybe new carpets here and there.
Best hotel I've stayed at in Vegas! Of like the six times I've been there excalibur was the best, my brother also said he has stayed there about 75% of the time he's been
paul noble it’s not, this video was based on other people’s reviews, he didn’t bother to check it out himself. You’ll be fine, Excalibur is an older casino but it’s clean, great location, good shows, nice pool, etc.
We didn't stay in a room at Excalibur, but we had a terrible experience gaming there. We weren't being paid out correctly, finally got our money, and never returned. It amazes me how many iconic hotels have been demolished over the years yet they allow all the dumps on this this list to remain. It seems much of the strip still needs a makeover.
Excalibur is wonderful to families with kids, I loved the theme keeps me coming back. I do not expend too much time in the room, also the restaurants are good. Thanks for the review.
Wow! How have I not seen this one before? I agree with everything you say here and I love how you describe the Excalibur as "soulless"! Hahaha. I think people who pay $19 for a night in a hotel shouldn't expect much, though. Congrats on almost half a million views!
Very unOfficial Travel Guides Vegas is a Dump.. All the "Cheep" 19 or 30 dollar rooms habe Resort fees, Atm fees, Parking fees, Cleaning fees and More. its a Giant Rip Off
@@YellowProductions who r u to complain? Try rating the Colorado belle in Laughlin, now that's the worst. Stop trashing Excalibur, people prefer this hotel over mgm grand, u must be a rich boy who likes expensive hotels
The city wouldn't expand the Convention Center, complete the Fontainebleau and not blow it to smithereens ! Circus Circus ( Caesars Entertainment ) is a high end property by location
i've been to vegas..this guy aint lying...stay off the strip a couple of miles and get a regular (marriott, hilton) and pay 7 bucks for a lyft or uber to the strip...
I guess you are assuming they all lose? Because they don't. That's why they keep coming back. If everyone lost in Vegas, no one would come after about 2 visits.
Stu West Do you also laugh at the people who bargain hunt for flights then proceed to spend thousands on a hotel or dining experience? People have preferences... if I’m fresh out of college going to Vegas for my 21st birthday, I’d book a shitty hotel to pregame and spend all of my money on the ladies and gambling. If I’m in my late 20s going for a bachelor party, I’d book a suite for my friends and spend money on getting tables at the clubs. If I’m 30 something with wife, I’d book a nice fountain view and spend money on shows. If I’m 40 something there for a meeting/conference, I’d spend the company’s money on a nice room and meals... different people have different desires...
Great video. I've been to Vegas 17 times. I have heard such nightmare stories about Circus Circus, I never even bothered visiting the casino. And who wants to pay $20 a night for a room? I always have stayed at the top Strip hotels, and I usually got good deals, depending on the time of year. Yes, you get what you pay for! And Encore, Wynn, Caesars, and TI are totally worth it! I love these people who say they don't need the electric controlled blinds or whirlpool tub - well, I do! That is why I go on vacation! I want luxury and Vegas has it - and you can get decent deals.
The Hooters Casino/Hotel is what you get when you buy a dying property (San Remo Hotel/Casino) and not put much money into refurbishment and instead rely on name recognition.
Three years ago we stayed at Springhill Suites by Marriott. No resort fee and a wonderful free breakfast. One block off the strip but the busses stopped up the block.
My question to all those reviewers is ..." Why on earth would you even go and look at a $19 a night hotel/motel?......that's like ordering a .25 cent hamburger and complaining it wasn't all that good. Next time RUN......don't walk, to a brand name hotel and if the rooms are less than $100....walk out. Cheers from Canada North
I would rather spend 19 a night at a motel than to get ripped off spending 300 to 500 a night on a "fancy" hotel just cause of the name or whatever and have way more money in my pockets to do on things in vegas like gamble and shop. Who in there right mind is gonna pay that type of money just to stay in a "upscale" hotel I'm vegas?
@@mizzle2264 I have stayed at some of those fancy $250 and $300/night places, like the Bellagio and the Venetian, but only because my wife, who is a big slots player, can get rooms comped. I'm a small time gambler though, so when I go by myself I don't get any comps, and I have to pay for my room. And there's no way I'd pay that kind of money (even though those places are awesome). That said, there's a happy medium. $19 a night is barely more than what you'd pay for a night at one of those depressing hostels in the disgusting part of town, the type of places where you have a bunk in a room with four or five other people. Like I say, there's a happy medium. I find that I can usually find a decent place close to the strip for maybe $60 or $70 a night. Or better yet, I often will stay a few miles away from the strip, down on Boulder Highway, at a place like Arizona Charlie's or Sam's Town. I can usually find a room at those places fro around $40 a night or so. The only disclaimer there is that you're far from the strip, so you need to rent a car (which I always do no matter where I stay).
Less than 100? You suck at hotel shopping dude. Seriously. You can easily get 4 star or 5 star boutique for 100/night during the week. Nothing is possible less than 100 on weekends.
Its certainly changed from the 1980s, when you could get cheap accommodation, cheap food, cheap drinks free cards, hats, mugs, the casinos were fighting for your custom, but now with conventions, they charge you more, with resort tax or car parking fees, stay away and go somewhere nicer ,even the casinos are looking bare with empty spaces.
Wouldn’t go to Vegas if you paid me. Many years ago, used to be good value with great inexpensive restaurants, great reasonably priced shows and drinks. NO MORE, now they only see you as a Big Dollar sign and try every scam known to smarmy accountants to part you with your money ( lest you forget, Vegas introduced the world to the giant ripoff known as Resort Fees). Vote with your wallet and go somewhere else, Vegas is an overpriced tourist trap!
ron harrogate that’s because in the 80s people actually gambled. Today’s Vegas isn’t a gambling destination but a entertainment destination therefore why would they still give out free shit and comps to people who have zero intention on gambling at their casino
I Stayed at the Excalibur hotel in October my first trip to Vegas. The floor I was on was the 3rd floor. The room was decent but no view. The staff was nice and i didn't smell smoke or anything. I had a decent stay there
this video is entirely wrong. the excalibur is an great place to stay on the strip. stayed countless times with excellent experiences every time. cost 1/4 of other hotels and have had the same service.
I worked front desk at Circus Circus for awhile, we would often upgrade guests to main building rooms because the manor was so empty they couldn't justify keeping it open.
Excalibur does NOT belong on this list. It's clean, my wait to check in wasn't what he described. I've stayed at 5 different hotels in Vegas and so far Excalibur had the best AC. It's not a 5 star hotel but its a decent affordable option. Its many levels above any of the Travelodges and Circus Circus. About the only downfall of Excalibur is the location. Be prepared to walk. The best tip for hotels in Vegas is: Low-priced attracts ghetto ass people. They take care of nothing and are not clean people.
I watched several of your videos about various places. I am going to Las Vegas in a few weeks and you have really helped me find some cool places. I now need to make some Las Vegas videos when I go since you inspired me lol.
@@NostalgiaMan i have seen everywhere sssnipet wolf like her vids also seen your on the swee5 channel do you like ther music i do and love vintage music
I actually love Excalibur and Circus Circus :) I have always lucked out with amazing views from top floors in both hotels! And the staffs at both hotels are super friendly! :)
Michael Lane Yes, remember the building boom in the 90s when The Excalibur was built? A fantastic, fun themed hotel/casino or two introduced to the public every year in that decade? Oh my gosh, each trip to Las Vegas was a treat: New York! Egypt! Paris! Monty Carlo! An island paradise! A pirate’s hideaway destination! Exotic Bali! The Medieval castle! Venice! And, of course, revisit the circus or Caesar’s domain! Then came places like the boring Palms or beautiful-but-seen-it-once-no-need-to-return Wynn. What they’re building now. So much for the adult’s Disneyland. And what landmarks are most often featured in establishing shots of Vegas in movies or TV shows? Yeh, places like The Excalibur. Iconic, distinct & instantaneously recognizable.
@@northshore1000 Absolutely!! Well said. Best memories are from that time for me when it felt like a truly exciting and different destination with wonder. Now it's sad to see those places considered nasty, or simply not kept up as well, so you can't just go and have a fun time without spending $500 a night.
"You'll know your there when it gets really really depressing..." Ha! Stayed at Circus Circus about 25yrs ago in one of the towers and it was a crap hole then. But Circus Circus in general is oddly charming in a tacky sort of way.
Late November rates are abnormally low. We usually go Thanksgiving week to celebrate our anniversary. Very low rates except possibly on Thanksgiving night. On our 2017 visit, found hotels changed their buffet prices, essentially doubling them. This was true at the Wynn, and Cosmopolitan. What they do do is combine breakfast and lunch into a brunch all week, and charge a premium price. Unfair. There were fantastic deals that week though. Examples are Wynn, Venetian, Palazzo, Caesars. Get a deal that includes breakfast every day. My buddy stayed at the Mirage that week. $65 included buffet for two each day. Resort fee added of course.
If you're going to count motels in this list, like the Travelodge and Circus Circus Motor Lodge, how about the Holiday House, known for it's carousel of cheap prostitutes that frequent the parking lot. Or the High Hat Regency, which is sandwiched between a boarded up wedding chapel and the sleaziest strip club in the state (now that Larry's Villa was shut down) Hell, how about the Tropicana? That place is a thousand times worse than the Excalibur. That place should have seen the wrecking ball back when they blew up the Hacienda!
Ah! Circus Circus, as a kid you'd think this was the best place in Vegas to vacation, considering the Adventuredome, but not realizing that it was really a place your parents could afford for everyone, and still say you stayed on the Strip XD. I could still remember the crowded, noisy summers here.
Last time in Vegas I stayed at Excalibur. The only hotel I have ever stayed in no to have a mini-fridge and the $27 ended up bring $87 after resort fees even though the spa was off limits. Made me never want to stay in Vegas again.
Excalibur is actually not a bad hotel. What do people expect for $29 a night plus tax and resort fee? All of the rooms have been renovated within the last decade, you get a casino, bars, restaurants, a pool, and a central location. I've seen inside a friend's room on the 2nd floor and it was nice for the money. I was pleasantly surprised. For the record, I'm someone who will stay in a suite that will cost 30 times this. It is all about expectations and value for price paid.
Adriana M I love the old feeling too...Vegas has so much interesting history. Sometimes I would rather stay at a place that has been there awhile instead of the fancy ones. The old Vegas Strip is so much fun too.
I stayed at the Excalibur it was a very good stay and the room was beautiful I was on the 27 floor. I’m a truck driver and this place has a large parking area for trucks.
We stayed there to save a little money, but still being able to stay right on the strip. We ended up on the top floor with a strip view. Dirt cheap honestly. The windows pop out really easy so you can actually open the windows in that hotel, which I LOVED. Wasn't no balcony, but felt great getting that fresh air in the room
25 years ago I said the Excalibur was beautiful at night when looking at it from my MGM a room. It was so beautiful it looked like a place you would see in heaven. Between the outside lighting and the white building it was gorgeous. When I went in to see the inside I hated the whole casino. It was very ugly and although the casino was somewhat of a new casino it looked as if it was there 20 years. Hated the place never went back. I’ve been to Vegas five time and stayed at a different place each time and loved each and everyone of them. Those casinos were LUXOR, MGM, MIRAGE, TREASURE ISLAND, & GOLDEN NUGGET. All were immaculate with very friendly staff. Las Vegas today has alot of very trashy people all over the strip selling drugs, robbing people, hookers, fights. When I was there on five different occasions there was never once bit of trouble in anyway shape of form. It’s very sad that Las Vegas is getting a bad name because of all the lowlife that are everywhere.
I stayed at the Circus Circus Manor Motor Lodge thinking it was a regular room in the hotel itself. We left immediately the morning after! Yes it was bad. It was also haunted, I really don't believe in supernatural things, but we experienced some weird things that night and in the morning. I felt a pressure pushing on my chest that night, I thought it was odd, but I let it go. The next morning, when I got out of the shower, my husband told me he had felt some strange things, like someone was shoving him (I hadn't even mentioned to him what had happened to me the night before). We also couldn't find my phone, we called it, turned the room upside down. We later found it on the dresser (where we had already looked numerous times) and the ringer was on!!!!! That amongst other things.
Our soccer team stayed there a while ago, so I had no choice, and yeah I remember it being nasty. Glad I didn't know it was haunted, I think I'll sleep in my car if these are my options.
That should be your next video! "Top 10 Haunted Places in Las Vegas" After this incident, I did a little research and found a lot of interesting stuff.
Zak Bagan's "The Haunted Museum" is located at 600 E. Charleston Blvd. is cool. Not LV focused except the building itself, but all kinds of historical objects with paranormal history attached to them.
Since you are offering advice to people, in fairness I would like to provide a rebuttal to some of your remarks. First let me say I am not employed at, nor an investor of any of the places you mention in your video. Excalibur was built by Circus Circus in 1990. In MGM's acquisition of most of Circus Circus's properties in the early 2000's, after the economy tanked, it's always been treated like the "red-headed step child" of their properties, that's why they don't care about it. They will milk it for all it's worth, and if the economy is strong for the foreseeable future, they will probably tear it down and build something different. It's actually a pretty cool place, and the location can't be beat. Hooters is actually "off the strip", it was built in 1973 and has flown under the banner of many different names since that time. Its owned by a hotel investment group that probably has no real idea how to run a casino hotel, like so many others that were purchased over the years and failed. Travelodge....the name sums it up right there. If you want the "Vegas" experience, I would pass on a motel chain that I could stay at anywhere else in North America. Circus Circus is also another MGM property that is undervalued by them. In their defense, it's at the northern end of the strip that has suffered from the losses of Stardust, Frontier and the Riviera. They don't have a lot of foot traffic from the other resorts that are now gone. For the simple fact that there is no better place to bring a family, if you choose to bring all the kids with you to Las Vegas. That in itself supports its value to the strip. It was built in 1968 and expanded several times, trying to be all things to all people, and for a long time it has done exactly that, it just needs a little love to restore it to it's former glory. I have a feeling that when the huge expansion to the convention center is completed, it will attract people attending events that bring their kids along. Las Vegas is a "one of a kind" destination, and a completely different world in itself. So, I would like to point out that in general, a lot of visitors come with the "let's party and trash the place", so they don't care about behaving in a respectful manner, as demonstrated by the vandalism, garbage, drug use and heavy drinking. It's all part of what this place is, and yes that aspect of it is a drag. But keeping that in perspective, it will make your visit here a more enjoyable one. ...Just sayin'
For anyone wanting a good Vegas experience and doesn’t mind being off the strip I’d definitely recommend Sunset Station. I’ve stayed there two times and am going back next month and it’s been great every time. It’s just like all your other Vegas hotels with a buffet, restaurants, shops, a bowling alley, I think a movie theatre too, and what not. Really good food at the international buffet, nice staff and what not, rooms are nice and clean. The one downside which is never too big a problem anyways is the location. It’s out in Henderson so you’re a ways off the strip and what not but it’s also nice to be away from all the action, but in a spot where ya still see it from your room. I’m only 16 so I don’t much about the casino other than it looks nice and has that classic over the top, smells like a cigarette Vegas casino feel.
Instead of pointing out that Hooters charges a resort fee, you may want to mention that most hotels on the strip do the same. It will be either $30 o $40 per night. Also, Circus Circus has some pretty bad rooms in their main tower as well. Everything above the casino is outdated and should be upgraded. Even the Stardust was better before they tore it down.
#5: Excalibur is great for the cost. Why would you expect a Bellagioesque experience for under $30 a night? Seriously, you get what you pay for. #4: Hooters isn't on the strip so shouldn't be on this list. Also, I believe ALL hotels on the strip have resort fees now. #3: Travelodge is a motel, not a hotel. If you don't know the difference you shouldn't be making these videos. #2: Same as #3. Seriously dude. #1: Can't disagree too much, but I'd hardly say the Manor Motorlodge at Circus Circus is really on the strip.
There are three types of casino/hotels in Vegas. Strip, Off-Strip and Downtown. This has more to do with the type of customer than location. Even though Hooters is technically not on the Strip .. it is still considered a Strip casino. Even the Rio is sort of considered a Strip casino, literally half the casino is dedicated to Strip players and the other half dedicated to local players. You are correct about the Travelodge and the Excalibur was designed by Bill Bennett to be another Circus Circus .. cheap rooms, cheap food and cheap entertainment.
The problem is go anywhere else, other than Vegas and see what $30 a night gets. Most of these places are just milking guests on their former grandeur. Dirty rooms, faulty equipment, broken locks have ZERO excuse for any motel chain. Krist, even the Knights Inn of Detroit is better than this.
Please do a vid like this every year, and see if there are more hotels that should be in this list, or maby they have improved! And also please do vids on most affordable hotel on the strip, or maby right next to it. Considering all the fees, location, pool and so on... thank you!!!
>13 Year old me (2009) >Had a family road trip (FL-> LA) >Stopped by Las Vegas >Didn't know anything about life lol >Parents booked a semi-cheap hotel >Lobby had slot machines >There was literal cig smoke everywhere >We were supper tired > Every stranger looked like they had a bad year >go to our room, it's not bad > We sleep in late, after walking all the strip > The hotels thin walls didn't help much >Loud banging was happening next door >We all wake up >No one said a word >Got awkward really fast >pretty sure that was an escort >Guy goes insane > We literally hear someone from another room yell at them lol Ah the memories lol.
Say what you will about the Mob but they had Vegas in check and their standards were second to none. They knew the better things were the more money they made.
@@jetcitysinatra7300 I used to live there. Moved in 07 to Lake Tahoe. Tahoe is so beautiful and lots of fun. When I left Vegas they were just cleaning up the Downtown area. The most beautiful place I have ever seen Country setting in the Mountains, very clean old time themed. Very romantic.l. If you go you will be back. Dont buy rooms on line, they will charge over 200. Go there and you will get the same room for 60. Rooms are always available. Very relaxing vibe. Summers and Winters are crowded, Spring and Fall its a ghost town. The Lake is crystal clear and so beautiful. The North End is mote private while the South is more tourist with more to do. If you go rent a car and drive around the lake. The most beautiful drive ever.
@Proximity Symbol I was very fortunate, I have a friend who is extremly wealthy. I was allowed to stay in her home for free as she traveled the World. When she was in town she had a permanent suite at Mountblu Casino, which is now something else. I played poker for a living for 7 years while I was there The house was on top of Kingsbury Grade walking distance to the Boulder lift at Heavenly. I mostly hiked with my wolves and Skiied while up there. Its so beautiful. Defantly not the place to find a job and expect to survive. Its the play ground for the Rich without a doubt. I wish I could afford to live their.
I 100% agree with his #1 choice. From the very start of the video, I was saying "Circus Circus!" He got it right. My room looked like someone had been killed just inside the doorway. Giant red stain on the carpet. We slept in our clothes. That's what you get when you don't book a room in advance for the CES show! Our bad. (My boss's actually.)
I stayed at Circus Circus last year. My reservation was for the motor lodge. I took one look at that and said "oh hell no". I paid to upgrade my room to the tower. The main hotel is old and dated, but there was no way I was staying at the motor lodge. Yikes!
Can you explain to me the difference between the 19 dlls room and the 500 dlls room? I don’t get why there’s such a huge difference gap in price if it’s so bad.
Damn Ive been here my whole life and never even knew those Travel Lodges existed! They need to be torn down. What a disgrace and an eyesore for guests.
Yes they exist, unfortunately. STayed at one a few years ago. Never doing that again. Nothing bad happened, but I could have stayed somewhere else for the same price I guess.
Yup! I've stayed in a the circus circus lodge room before, smelt like ass and body odor. I left the window open for 18+ hours and it didnt ait out at all. Circus circus needs burned down. Worst hotel ever.
No way you put Excal and Hooters on the list and not mention Bally's. Bally's is hell on earth. I love Hooters and Excal, they are awful, but a whole lot of fun, and I stay at them because they are ridiculously cheap ($14 a night on one trip...too funny to pass up). Plain fact, if you think the Bellagio is a really nice hotel (smoke and mirrors), then you are not going to have fun at Excal or Hooters. Figure out what is important for your trip and pick your hotel accordingly. I love drunken madness, so Excal and hooters are perfect for me.
I stayed at Bally's last March and thought it was a great hotel. I've stayed at Luxor, Golden Nugget, Venetian, Monte Carlo and Stardust. Out of all of those, I would put Bally's second. Had no problems there, room was great.
Agree with you on Hooters. Stayed there twice and while I agree the rooms could do with freshening up, you can't argue with the price or location. When I go to Vegas, I spend as little time in the room as possible!
I stayed at Excalibur July 2017. It wasn't great, but it wasn't the worst hotel I've ever seen. The room itself was fine. Clean, in good repair, but I had a nice view of the mountains (and the local In N Out!) and sunsets. The checkin process was pretty easy because I checked in on my phone. Staff was friendly and helpful and brought a mini fridge to my room upon my request. I did find the whole property to be REALLY dated and hokey, the common areas somewhat run-down, and DEAR GOD the entire lobby area stunk to high heaven of cigarette smoke, with a heavy layer of some kind of awful cloying "tropical floral" scented air freshener. I was attending a conference across the street at the MGM Grand, it was an easy walk across the sky bridge. Now...the MGM Grand was pretty awful, too. You had to walk through the giant casino to get to any part of the hotel and it was like running a gauntlet of cigarette smoke. A/C was out in a number of areas of the hotel, including the conference spaces, UGH...no A/C in Las Vegas, in JULY!!! Friends who stayed there reported seeing random people sleeping in the hallways, and Hakkasan, the nightclub, was supposed to be reserved ONLY for our conference attendees (all women), there were a bunch of random creepy guys there and some of the gals got roofied. All in all, Excalibur was a better experience than MGM. And that is SAD.

Dr. David Walter Aguado how are u a dead Man U in a body
All the hotels there charge resort fee
Prices are way off. The prices flux greatly
I got mugged in Vegas, when the attacker saw that I had a room key for the Circus Circus he apologized and gave my wallet back.
Hah!
You're a liar. Circus Circus or any other hotel hasn't has room keys in over 10 years
Ouch
They'll do that, unless they're staying at the Travel Lodge.
😄😄
The bottom line is you get what you pay for. PERIOD. "The room smells like smoke"???? All of Las Vegas smells like smoke.
I know right tht was stupid lpl
😂😂😂😂
yes ..now smells like Marijuana... and this comes from the guests.
There is a fine to be charged. If the guest smokes inside the room, they are not smoking floors.
It has a floor for smokers.
Nah, all rooms are smoke free now...so no dont be bitter because you stay at bottom shit hotels
Yea.When I went to a hotel.It smells like smoke
I just bought a $3 bottle of wine. I can not believe it doesn't taste as good as a $50 bottle!
exactly what this video is...
Yes, you get what you pay for. If you want Wynn quality and luxury, you need to book a room at the Wynn. Do not compare apple and oranges.
Don’t laugh: I’m sure this was a dream vacation compared to how some of their customers live
But it still shouldn't have bugs in them?
if you pour enough sugar in it, it does!
You get what you paid for. It cracks me up that somehow people expect luxurious accomodations for $19 a night.
For most cities I would agree but in Vegas I've actually paid that for rooms and had really nice ones (not at those properties though. Ick). I'm not a high roller either, I don't even gamble but still have found amazing deals in the last 10 years for rooms on the Strip and downtown.
Actually during the off season you can get great hotels.
I have stayed at Excalibur twice and i have never waited longer than 10mins for check in. Also the rooms were very nice and pillows were amazing
really? why does it end up on the shithole hotel list then?
Bob johnson dont know but its a nice hotel. Pool is really nice.
oh ya, I think I'm gonna stay at Caesars Palace or the Wynn :o)
Bob johnson stay were the fuck you want. For the strip its cheap
I stayed at the Excalibur last week and had hella fun. It's a Medieval theme hotel, I get it.
Jennifer Niece do you want a cookir
Eddie W are you ok
Same but it was a month ago
i stayed at the Excalibur 3 times and it was more than ok every time..
I stayed at the Excalibur and loved it. I would always go back there. Big pool, clean rooms, friendly staff and we had a great view.
Your videos are very good and you do your homework!!!!
"...if you were gambled"
Oh my god, in the 70s and 80s, people could gamble you?
Lol, kidding. I know what you meant. =)
As the room rates go higher you are not only paying for nicer properties, you are paying for better service and better company, to be frank.
well said.
I didnt mind it but we had a trash view and took forever to check in everything else I didnt mind
Peter Stawicki
I like the Castle, too!
How did I also get so lucky when I stayed there, everything I had was preddy good. Couldn't complain, cept for an employee lolz, had a blast.
Excalibur has definitely tanked
I'd generally stay away from anything with "Manor Motor Lodge" in the name
Well said Chad!
Chad Mower 😂😂😂💯💯💯💯
Anything with “Manor” in the title has to be a craphole. But for a great hotel experience, try the “Hotel Coral Essex” in Ft. Lauderdale.
Sounds like a horror flick.
Used to go to Vegas every other month with my parents and stayed at the cc motorlodge. In the 90s it wasn't bad.
Was just at excalibur. Disagree 100% with the entire narrative here.
I first stayed in Vegas in 1989 in a Best Western which was where the Excalibur carpark is now Excalibur was not quite finished then in OCT 1989 so is due for demolition now as we saw it in 2014 and didnt think much of it then.
Excalibur is nice
@Yea Ok lol nothing wrong with my standards.
I was born in Compton and I now live in the hood in Baltimore. I stayed one night at the Excalibur and the experience terrified me.
Attracted to dirty slums are you??
I’d love to hear what happened😂😂
Brilliant comment hahahahahaha the best!LOL
Lmao
Excalibur does need a renovation.
I only like treasure island or the orleans, maybe Venetian if I can get a roommate and mgm signature is really nice, all the other meh
I think The Excalibur looks pretty cool! At least it's got a consistent theme.
Thanks Don!
I like your videos, but im bummed that you litteraly just read reviews from trip advisor. I was expecting to see you walk into the rooms and such. Also where is the yellow shirt!
It would of been to stay, then do his own reviews.
+VicandDes Sorry.. I don't actually want to stay at any of these places! :). The yellow shirt will be back. I did more videos on this trip than I had clean yellow shirts :)
I feel like he put in as much effort as the hotels themselves. I think it fits the theme. Hahaha! A for effort!
There's youtubers that do that for you already. I believe one of them is Dan Bell.
VicandDes yeah dummy. He is gonna rent the rooms and. Review it. Idiosa
"It smells of smoke"
Considering you can smoke in every casino there, wouldn't that be the case for all of them?
KuBi1337 yes but all the new hotels have commercial air filter so it's not to noticeable
Wasn't the case in Tropicana (literally opposite excaliber)
KuBi1337 Most
In casinos in Vegas you have to pay to smoke in the casino
Considering they blatantly mention this NOT being the case I recommend actually paying attention while watching...
The Travelodge put the Cops/Badboys theme in my head
Hah
I really like Excalibur. I have stayed here many times (stayed in February 2020) and enjoy the pool and the theming. The rooms were clean. (Loves the mattress)We stayed on a higher floor and the food court and dragon dungeon was a lot of fun. I think it needs some sprucing up but it’s definitely got a lot of good left to offer if they out money in it.
How cheap can people get? You only live once. If you go to vegas, expect to spend money. Just enjoy the expeeience.
+TheBagBalm They can get prettttty cheap! :)
Why go to Vegas to sleep? If I get a room with a nice girl yes ok 200on a sweet indeed, but if I’m in town and just partying I wanna bathe and sleep and get the fuck up out of the room. Usually that’s what these cheap hotels are for, sluts and sleep.
theres alot of broke ass cheap bastards out there that will stay in a shithole because they live in a disgusting apartment so their used to it
sleeping in someones shit
Eh, I'd rather spend that money on food, gambling, and shows. That said, I'd NEVER stay in Circus Circus.
It's clear the owners of the Travelodges and Motor Lodge are just waiting for the right developer to sell out to, so they let the buildings deteriorate until they get the right offer when the time is right for the developers. My landlord was doing the same thing with my last apartment building.
This just in: the center strip Travelodge was just sold along with the adjacent Hawaiian marketplace and will probably be demolished.
Vegas is getting terrible. Pay to park and overpriced food. Resort fees etc. etc. run down hotels. Vegas used to be nice. Not anymore.
Only two are Vegas friendly treasure island and the orleans, everything else is fucking gummy ur money and shut the fuck up!
Jeff Donaldson no joke drinks are very expensive also. Everything is over priced
When was the last time you were in Las Vegas?? I live here. it all depends on where you go.
violetshamrock I go every year and it’s getting more and more pricey every time!
$10 with a $50 resort fee :)
Lmao!
I live in Vegas and you are right on, these are the worst hotels here, along with Circus Circus. Its because its cheap as our nice hotels cost around 150 plus a night. They should blow these hotels up and rebuild.
Room at Hooters $36.00
Resort Fee To Use Pool $26.00
Hooker & Champagne $75.00
Experience - Priceless
Guided Meditation You sure don't need a meditation for that priceless experience! 😂
hooker for $75... no way? lol
She's a very very affordable one. There's one for every budget?
U forgot the coke
I prefer pepsi myself :O)
Now I'm not endorsing organized crime in any respect but you have to admit that since the expulsion of the mob families influence on Las Vegas the city has really gone downhill ! Old Las Vegas is truly dead, customer service is in its grave, you're all just a number when you come here . I'm very sorry .
You are spot on about the mob, they treated customers well. The corporations that own them now do not care about customers only investors.
Your 100 percent right about customer service
Who cares about the people the mob killed? They did customer service right. Give me a break.
Alvin Miller how in the hell could they know how the mob ruled vegas when their so young? The mob been out of vegas for decades.
this town is run more like walmart than any other way of saying it. I agree, this town is in the shitter.
RESORT FEES are ILLEGAL! Refuse to pay them. I always say “I pre-paid, in-full.” This is a bait and switch. Always pre-pay in full.
Can you actually do that.? I'm returning to vegas in sept and the resort fees are around €35 per night!!
SpiritMI Mia maleno
That does not work anymore. Paying in full beforehand will still add in the resort fees. This is one of the ways that they Vegas is paying for the T-Mobile arena and Raiders stadium.
I'm surprised you said only the cheap hotels have the hotel fees when they all have them. The Four Seasons, Bellagio, Skylofts At MGM Grand (over $4,000 dollars for a 4 night stay has a $39 a night hotel fee).
Coming from someone whos lived in Vegas for 20 years, hes right. Take heed fellow travelers and tourists!
If your doing cheap..you get what you pay for so dont complain..
rik
riki don't lose that number
If my doing cheap what?
You're, you're welcome
I like that last comment, " One step above a Homeless Shelter ". hahaha! That was a good one!
Some homeless shelters are nice
Welll the women's shelter is
The Excalibur does not deserve to be on this list! I hate it when people bash that place. It's themed after medieval times, it's supposed to be dark and dingy!!
Dave
Absolutely right! I helped with the theme........ I pooped in the hallway.
I stayed at Excalibur for new years and it was pretty good.
You pay crap, you get crap. I stayed at the Marriott Grand Chateau. It was magnificent.
I stayed at Excalibur. In my opinion it wasn't that bad.
hopefully it isn't am going in febuary and staying there
Best hotel I've stayed at in Vegas!
@@roxi2798 ok thanks mate
I.stayed there once, Guest and employees were polite. I wasn't crazy about the room. Still, my stay was not unpleasant
Excalibur’s hallways look straight out of a horror movie
It does lol
pennywise woud match in these hallway.
That’s because IT IS HAUNTED if you go to the tenth floor hallway you will have the felling of being followed
Real shit lmao

Wow! How have I not seen this one before? I agree with everything you say here and I love how you describe the Excalibur as "soulless"! Hahaha. I think people who pay $19 for a night in a hotel shouldn't expect much, though. Congrats on almost half a million views!
Thanks Morgan! That's definitely true.. you pay for what you get!
Very unOfficial Travel Guides Vegas is a Dump.. All the "Cheep" 19 or 30 dollar rooms habe Resort fees, Atm fees, Parking fees, Cleaning fees and More. its a Giant Rip Off

I think I recognize some of these properties from episodes of _Cops_ . That should tell you something.
Well said, Fred. . .
It tells me that...crime exists everywhere...
I laugh at the people who bargain hunt for a hotel room then proceed to dump hundreds in the casino.
lol..no shit
We bargain hunt but don't gamble. Bet you dump thousands though. To each his own. Frankly how people spend their $ is no one's business.
Friend of mine gets comped a room, limo and 'escort'..when he goes to Vegas...he won't tell me how much $$$ he gambles away...
Nearly doubling the stated room-rate with a BS 'resort fee' is a ridiculous & shameful scam that should simply be outlawed.
Yup
It's a tax thing. It was most certainly pushed into law, doubt they will go back on them
The Hooters Casino/Hotel is what you get when you buy a dying property (San Remo Hotel/Casino) and not put much money into refurbishment and instead rely on name recognition.
Three years ago we stayed at Springhill Suites by Marriott. No resort fee and a wonderful free breakfast. One block off the strip but the busses stopped up the block.
I like the Springhill too!
$19 per night, you should know you're not getting a Caesar's Palace type room!
That’s how much you have to Pay to ride Bug Apple Coaster
The CP is nothing to write home about. It’s just as bad as these!
Its certainly changed from the 1980s, when you could get cheap accommodation, cheap food, cheap drinks free cards, hats, mugs, the casinos were fighting for your custom, but now with conventions, they charge you more, with resort tax or car parking fees, stay away and go somewhere nicer ,even the casinos are looking bare with empty spaces.
i hear you
Wouldn’t go to Vegas if you paid me.
FACTS 💯👌🏼
ron harrogate that’s because in the 80s people actually gambled. Today’s Vegas isn’t a gambling destination but a entertainment destination therefore why would they still give out free shit and comps to people who have zero intention on gambling at their casino
@@johnsax1445 Have to agree-much better hotels in Reno, Laughlin, etc. LV is an overpriced dump.
I have stayed at the Excalibur several times and have been very happy with the experience.

I Stayed at the Excalibur hotel in October my first trip to Vegas. The floor I was on was the 3rd floor. The room was decent but no view. The staff was nice and i didn't smell smoke or anything. I had a decent stay there
I got a good room at excalibur. Good experience.
this video is entirely wrong. the excalibur is an great place to stay on the strip. stayed countless times with excellent experiences every time. cost 1/4 of other hotels and have had the same service.
I worked front desk at Circus Circus for awhile, we would often upgrade guests to main building rooms because the manor was so empty they couldn't justify keeping it open.
I'm surprised they haven't demolished it yet. I heard they were gonna do it a couple of years ago but they canceled that for some reason.
You want to talk Ghetto? Circus Circus fits the bill!

Yes, remember the building boom in the 90s when The Excalibur was built?
Friendly and nasty 🤮
@@northshore1000 Right, that was 30 years ago. I thought they would tear them down by now. They tore the hotels of the 50's and 60's that fast.
@@northshore1000 Absolutely!! Well said. Best memories are from that time for me when it felt like a truly exciting and different destination with wonder. Now it's sad to see those places considered nasty, or simply not kept up as well, so you can't just go and have a fun time without spending $500 a night.
It sounds like these places will soon be offering hourly rates only.
What do you mean SOON?
Hit the bars ( hard) before you check in, problem solved.
Hell yeah, make any hotel room a palace by getting shit-faced just prior
Hahahah good one!
I've lived in Vegas all my life. Trust me, there are WAY worse hotels on the Strip than any of these.
Which ones? :)
The Luxor is one
Ah! Circus Circus, as a kid you'd think this was the best place in Vegas to vacation, considering the Adventuredome, but not realizing that it was really a place your parents could afford for everyone, and still say you stayed on the Strip XD. I could still remember the crowded, noisy summers here.
+Hardrockfan21 So true!
Circus Circus was the place to be in the 70s as a kid while your parents were off somewhere throwing your inheritance away, lol
i stayed at the Circus Circus in Reno back in 1984 when I was a kid and it was ok but the food was fucking disgusting
The Motel 6 is next to MGM and only $45, and the rooms are good and your car is right by the door. The best kept secret in Vegas!!
Thanks for the tip!
And they'll leave the light on for ya...
Yes it is good
Doubt it
That motel is a known crack and hooker motel
I️ love the Excalibur. 😍 stayed there many times and have no complaint. Love the old theme.
Glad I didn't know it was haunted, I think I'll sleep in my car if these are my options.
interesting
That should be your next video! "Top 10 Haunted Places in Las Vegas" After this incident, I did a little research and found a lot of interesting stuff.
Zak Bagan's "The Haunted Museum" is located at 600 E. Charleston Blvd. is cool. Not LV focused except the building itself, but all kinds of historical objects with paranormal history attached to them.
Sweet! I'll check it out!
Great counter points! To your point of "milking it for all it's worth" -- that's definitely how I feel about all 5 of these hotels!
LOL, goes to wikipedia to find facts for his "rebuttal"
JB: AND we have the Golden Knights!
Nobody ever remembers Sahara...
I got a comp week at the Sahara back in 05'. Lots of prostitutes. The rooms weren't bad either, lol.
Thanks for the suggestion!
You reading these reviews had me in tears, so hilarious

Staying at OYO in November which is the old Hooters. Hopefully they updated it a little bit!
I stayed there a year ago and it was totally fine
They didn't renovate anything yet, just changed the sign.
You should include the resort fee in the price because every casino on the strip now charges a resort fee
There are a few hold outs.
Maybe the Flamingo? Just pay attention to the extra charges+taxes.
Even downtown hotels with no amenities charge a "resort fee".
Look at the 4 Queens web site. They be the ONLY down town without the fee.
I'll be staying.... THERE!
#1: Can't disagree too much, but I'd hardly say the Manor Motorlodge at Circus Circus is really on the strip.
thats exactly what i thought, very poor info useless info from this guy..
You my friend have hit the nail on the head, These were my exact thoughts while watching this review.
Derek Allyn I agree with #1 I cringed and canceled the room and quickly bought a room at Bally's which is a nice place in my case.
As for the resort fees, they all have them lol.. But he didn’t tell you that.
Why would he have to tell you? It’s common sense.
Last 6 or so years Vegas has been doing that and it is going everywhere!
Please do a vid like this every year, and see if there are more hotels that should be in this list, or maby they have improved!
And also please do vids on most affordable hotel on the strip, or maby right next to it. Considering all the fees, location, pool and so on...

Ballys is a fine place to stay.
Agree with you on Hooters. Stayed there twice and while I agree the rooms could do with freshening up, you can't argue with the price or location. When I go to Vegas, I spend as little time in the room as possible!
fuck vegas I would rather stay in my motor home. Big waste of money with lots of homeless people playing drums on their plastic buckets. Yuck.
good to know since I'll be going and stay there (Excal)next year. Was nervous about the hotel, but I'll barely be sleeping anyway!!
I have never had a problem with circus circus it is very kid friendly and very fun and convenient
