Reseach from the Jena experient shows that mixed pasture will do best with at least 4 plant familys (functional groups). So in addition to a legume and a grass, you should consider adding herbs such as plantain and chicory to make up the 4 groups. Diversity is the key. Also plant tissue testing is much more useful than soil testing as it tells you actually what the plant is taking up, which can often be quite different to that on a soil test.
