Scheduled also another offroad review outside the offroad park with some stunning landscape!
Autogefühl: Whoops! I saw in the notification that you posted a reply to my comment but I cannot see it on the page. Have you deleted the comment?
Hmmm could be, we answer to so many comments each day :) Sometimes something doesnt get through due to lack of internet connection or smth. Didnt delete anything though
Autogefühl: I know you people are really busy. I was amazed how you replied to almost every comment here. And there are like 100s of comment on every review. That’s transcendental. You guys rocks (and pops)
Really great when some people realize that - thanks :)
Can't wait,I really want to see you guys use this car's full off road capability
Great job Brian! The most beautiful SUV at the market with great high class cockpit!
👍
Thanks for doing all these videos and all the work you put into your channel, Thomas (and Team). Very much appreciated. We are very fortunate to sit here, receiving all this excellent proper entertaining content, for car enthusiasts. Keep up the great work. Cheers.
👍👍
really awesome... waiting fr more reviews to come 😄
Video is ok. But where is exactly the offroad course you mentioned in the title?
My thoughts exactly....I could have driven a Toyota's Yaris across that course!
What I was really impressed and amazed by the fact that you kept reviewing the vehicle as you were driving through real challenging terrains. That time when the SUV was up on a steep terrain and all that we could see was clouds (and birds), you still seemed unfazed. Mayne!! That actually terrified me. Of course, you had an usher by your side but still, it needed a lot of confidence. Kudos to you for such a perfect driving and such a great review.
Could you do a review with Thomas and AJ? That would be awesome.
thank you very much m8!
Brian and Thomas once did a vid together: ua-cam.com/video/OL3wvDuCtNk/v-deo.html
Autogefühl: Aah! Finally I can see the comment. Perhaps there was glitch on my end. I’m actually on beta platform of my iOS hence applications are prone to glitches. And I’ve been watching some issues on UA-cam lately. But it’s all good now.
I guess, I missed this review. Oops!! But thank you for sharing 😊😊😊.
Think the first & second generations looked the best. But I’m Happy it’s still Here.
This is nice information 😗
VW should really get this car to the US
VW should really get the Atlas to the Uk 😃
I Think So Too! Such an Awesome Car!
no thanks its just crap crossover
Why the fuck we can get this amazing car to Canada and US? shame of you VW giving us just the crap shit of Atlas. what a joke
Awesome Video! I Wish We Where Getting It In The States
as a designer...take it that the bigger the dashboard the better. Thank you!
Brian when will you buy and change new shoes? I think I remember those shoes from your first reviews like three years ago
Excellent Wolkswagen Touareg!!!!
Looks much better than the previous model
Thank you Bryan
appreciated !
I would like to see what a model X can do on this circuit.
Thank you for the review! In the car configurator there is no option for 360 camera view (only rear camera) . Was the car in the review special or this function is not advertised by VW. My local dealers are clueless in this regard ;-(
Cheers! That's really strange, it is one of the most frequent options?!
Potential customers would be more impressed with a genuine real world scenario. All season tyres and say, 6-12” snow, in towns, backroads, motorways, etc. I love it every winter in Scotland when the Range Rover brigade come out with summer low profile sports tyres - and get stuck.
Beautiful truck. I have a 2012 Volkswagen Touareg with less than a 100k on it.. I want one of these !!!!
Second Opinion I use to have the 2012 TDI model but traded it in for a new Q5. Worst decision I’ve ever made
I never understand these off-road courses. You're clearly on road. And is designed by the company so they're certainly not going to set you up with something that the vehicle cannot do easily. So you learn nothing.
Actually they are quite fun to drive. They dont belong to the manufacturers btw.
They surely choose one that fits their car though.
Sure, why wouldnt they
If i can get this car i wouldn't complain about off road and being fixed... 😑
I agree, but I don’t think you wouldn’t learn anything. You’d learn that it could handle that particular course, and I’m sure you could think of many other vehicles that would struggle. Since the course is designed to display what the vehicle can handle, you can also deduce that a harder course would be more challenging for that vehicle.
It would be better if they also included some competing vehicles to compare to on the same course, such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee, a Land Rover, etc.
Shame that isn’t not coming to America, VW sells Tiguan and Atlas but they are not Premium SUVs.
For such a large car that is nowhere near enough head room in the back for me, if you are 5.10 and your head is nearly touching the roof in the back me at 6.4 would be impossible. The front also looked tight, I don't know how much lower your seat could go but it looked like if you were in a crash in that position that you would snap your neck due to how low the frame was with the sun guard
did you also drove the right course?
I like the large infotainment display, but I think they should either use a single piece of glass to eliminate the seam between it and the instrument cluster, or separate them entirely. The seam looks cheap.
they are at an angle - making it a single screen? not quite as easy as you might think... noone's made a sharp angle screen yet... and a car sometimes needs to be disassembled as well ... or assembled when manufactured for that matter.
Un trazado muy facilito en offroad... cualquier suv con tracción total lo hace...
Needs the Cayenne Hybrid system. VW promised it on the last version, but it never appeared. Salesman are still saying this version will get a PHEV version, but no timescale. Why? They are trying to shift all the old Diesel engines from the Cayenne!
So is it 8cm longer than its predecessor (3:13), or shorter than the predecessor (literally 13 seconds later)?
Longer in length, shorter in height
excellent review brian. i agree, this is alot of money to be throwing around off road, the touareg r line retails for $120k AUD here ($85k USD / $73k EURO). i think with a car like this, one needs to make a choice, get a serious off roader, or a full luxe suv. so for my money i would be looking at nissan armada (known as nissan patrol here), goes for $60k USD, this is a very serious offroader here in australia, capable of anything, its only competitors being toyota land cruiser, mitsubishi pajero, land rover discovery. i call it the 'poor mans land cruiser' : ) , as it is significantly cheaper. the course shown in this video it would do while having a break, its that tough. the nissan, and the others mentioned, are designed for serious offroading, deep water crossings, sand dunes, rock climbing (with the proper set up), towing heavy loads, and quite happy to be abused for 20 years in very harsh environments that we have in australia. if luxe is what the better half wants though, look no further than audi q7, the 3.0 tfsi, with the prestige pack, $66k USD. come to think of it, i have no idea why anyone (that isnt off their medication) would pay an extra $20k for the touareg r line.
thanks for the feedback ozzy!
I think I will stick with the Landcruiser instead~
Where is the off road test? Please give the car to TFL, where off road actually means off road
Montréal !!!! Yes un québécois ! :D je dois être le seul ici haha
=)
Ça m'a pris 2 ans pour te lire tabarnak 😁
A proper suv.
I rather keep my Terrain Tech 4Xmotion with low range, air-susp, diff-locks.... I fall in the 1% category 😄
=)
I can still drive in my suburbs and title it “Offroad”
Do you tell the crews from the car makers that everyone hates the piano black scratch surfaces? What do they have to say in their defence? xD
yeah .... ;)
You should hashtag your vids so they get more views from people on UA-cam.
I tried once, didnt work. I ll try again, thanks
Cute car. It's a nice mall crawler and casual easy fire roads. No mud or wading in water like a real off road SUV could do.
4th generation
역시 GERMANY
Lol a vw golf could have done what you have
And it still will be mainly used by moms driving her kids to school/ soccer training.
And now?
It does a good job at making kids scared shitless of her kids.
Don't like steering wheel....
you are talking about that you will show how this off-road driving looks from outside but there is nothing, just a lot of talk from inside of the car... will you show it later? Were you stopped to show it by VW?
He means the offroad driving shots from the outside which are clearly in this video?!
yes you are right, some of them at the beginning and then later, but I am missing outside shot when you for example stop the car on the track, clearly the car is on two wheels but there is not view from outside, just kind of funny talking in the car... I believe it would make sense to have always combination of shots inside/ outside one after another.... but also I understand that this would require to have a different camera crew always outside - probably quite difficult in this official VW exercise ...
Disappointed, that course looked so tame, my old 2wd Toyota Avensis estate could easily handle it. I learned nothing about the car's off road performance. Most people will be concerned with the car's capability over soft or muddy ground, especially towing a horse trailer/caravan or similar. Oh well.
My dad's FWD Peugeot 5008 went through rougher terrains.
Looks like my drive way hmm OFF ROAD ?
of course there are people out there who do some serious and very extreme super-offroad driving. Clearly this is not the prior intention of this vehicle as explained. Offroad is by the way defined as "not on the road" =)
@@autogefuehl he is joking...
How much off-road capability you need depends on where you live and how you live. Just cuz 99.9% of people in YOUR country hardly go off-road doesn't mean the rest of the world doesn't. You reviewers really need to quit such myopic thinking especially as you're review is shown on a global platform.
There is no problem with what Brian said. The terrain tech pack had 1 percent take rate. So it is just facual that it was obviously enough for the other customers. I dont know why u would see this as an inaccurate comment
Is that a global or local statistic?
Customers in this class will never go off road. Biggest obstacles will be the speed bumps in the mall's parking lot.
Same for GLE Mercedes, even range rover.
People doing off road generally get cheaper and probably more reliable cars
My ml has air suspension, locking differentials and a low range gearbox . So VW back to the drawing board for you 😂😂😂
Jim's point of view on cars: drowning board? 😂😂😂
@@LuvvSURYA 😂😂 corrected, but considering vw's situation nowadays they are literally drowning into the deep ocean 😂
Sound like a VW salesman to me. Nothing negative or critical.
It would have been nice to see the vehicle negotiating the terrain rather than watching the guy chatting... chatting .chatting
Something is not right. If VW brings you at this so called "off road" knowing it can handle all the "off road challenges" conclusion is.Its great product. This car should be tested on snow, mud, really off road and then customers should decide is this VW a hot air or capable off road SUV.
Why are all these 'off-road' tests on the dry, sure I understand, whether it rains or not has no bearing on whether something is or is not 'off the road', but its one thing to 'off-road' on dry, hard ground, its another thing when it rains and snows... And in many places it rains and or snows.
I've not learned anything as we cannot even see the actual course
Seriously? That was off-tarmac, not off-road. My friend’s i10 could have done that course. Are you sure that wasn’t just the drive into the complex? Ask to use the British Army off road driver training areas then you will know. No mud, no water - honestly, it’s a nice car but that was a joke guys. Click bait at it’s worse.
Don't be so harsh on that!
First time we could take the all-new Touareg out on some difference terrain and check the camera systems in such a way, I found it very interesting.
Autogefühl if you don’t want objective criticism, disable comments. It is in your interest to find it, “interesting”.
I think people can be quite happy that we read every comment and also react on it. That takes several hours 365 days of a year.
The Touareg really looks to be a good car, but sports car driving? Nahhhhhhh
You used words like torture and nasty describing the off-road course......an insult to viewers intelligence.
Question : Why are you guys repeat review with the same car. This channel like eco friendly stuff and don't review EV & PHEV, like kia Niro PHEV, Niro EV, Hyundai Kona EV and the all lineup of Hundai Ioniq PHEV and EV ones. Stop repeat the same cars many times Thomas. Sorry but I have to dislike this. :-/
We review 150 different cars per year, and we try to fulfill as many wishes as possible. But not everything is up to us, since the manufacturers who are smaller in Germany or who are just importers also have limited resources. It's hard to understand when you are not in the industry, but there are just some realities you have to deal with and make the best out of it. And I believe we do that. This is a free service and we are doing as good as we can with all our blood & tears.
And a small insight into the EV problem: If there was no driving event we could take part in, it is especially hard for me to order EV since I cannot charge them at home. I was denied to install a wallbox or even a simple household plug by the other co-owners of the basement garage. Welcome to 2018 ...
Even a Fiat 500 could have done that "offroad course". There is no need to buy a 80000$ volkswagen suv
