RainWatch: NZ’s 7 day rain forecast - subtropical turns subantarctic

- We have your weekend weather and the forecast right through next week as we transition from subtropical to subantarctic airflows.
The weekend starts off dry for most places but by Sunday a cold front moves in and then clears NZ on Monday morning.
Next week is windier, more unsettled and colder as a messy low pressure area moves in and potentially brings some severe winter weather, mostly later in the week.
But it’s not all bad news with the forecast for Wednesday looking excellent in many parts of NZ, including Mystery Creek in Waikato.

P.S.. love your sense of humour Phillip 😅
Bloody fantastic explanation of the upcoming weather, we travel full time around NZ with 3 kids and find your forecast so well detailed. Helps us with our planning... Thanks

I really appreciate the service you provide, thank you. Can you recommend some weather or metereology books, pre propaganda for a novice who would like to learn more?. Thank you in advance
A really good book from the 1990s is Eric Brenstrum's weather book. He was at MetService back in the 90s and wrote a great book explaining NZ's weather.
1:20 what are the aussies deporting it too ?
I'm pretty sure Ginormous is a reliable imperial quantity, none of that metric rubbish ;)
I hope that you all have a great weekend

Love your work Philip, but what is actually "Helpful" with any map is a key and that is what is most often missing from these graphics. Without a key most of the visual information is unintelligible .
Watch my videos more often - I explain every map in detail, eventually it will make sense.
2:06 well .. unless your like vision impaired
❤
NIWA advises only EV drivers should be permitted to travel
anywhere over the weekend due to the current global-warming
emergency otherwise the CO2 levels from
the other cars will melt too many icebergs and that'll
submerge dunedin and invercargill by tuesday
This is useful for airline travellers coming into Christchurch later in the week.
ECMWF and GFS seem to be consistently forecasting lots of snow while the Australian model is forecasting lots of rain, which should we trust more?
That's like asking who will win the rugby world cup - both are great teams and both produce excellent results. We use GFS a lot more than ECMWF, there are pros and cons with both.
thankyou Phil and the team , a real weather forcast
Nice job,Philip! I'll pencil it into my calendar.....wait..... hold on, has anyone got a calendar (not one of those bowls filled with holes, (that's a collandar) & ummm, has anyone got a pencil....wait, I'll look for one in my Abba pencilcase.......😝💕
Lol :)
Always heaps of information.
Great stuff mate cheers.
I dont beleive it until it happens in canterbury we are so dry
Phil, Twice in one week I've noticed I've been unsubscribed.
YT is dodgy.
That's no good! :(
Doesn't feel warm outside in Auckland it's cloudy
Feeling warm and being warmer than average are two very different things. It can be warmer than average and still -20 degrees if you live in Antarctica, for example :)
Hello my friend, thank you as always for your service neighbour. We have noticed that its warm for this time of year as Australia is pinching our rain fall at the moment.
