I had a bantam girl who crowed, honestly think she was convinced she was a rooster with how she acted. She passed away recently and this video fills me with a lot of melancholic joy.
Could be. I've heard of that happening before. With this hen, I had three other roosters in her flock, so I don't think that was the case. I think she was crowing to keep in contact with her flock because she wasn't with them when I took this video.
It's rare, but I've seen it most on bantam breeds. She's not my first bantam hen to crow (she's my third), but she's my first that I've been able to get a video of her doing so. The others where always more secretive and I'd only catch them crowing like once or twice in their coops or runs when bored or separated from the flock.
The differently-shaped tail, small comb, tiny wattles, no saddle feathers, overall shape and most importantly, different voice pitch and very sudden crowing (in the case of this one)
Everything @tammid8423 said plus her markings. She's a Silver Duckwing Old English Game bantam. On this particular color, the hens have very different markings. Where the roosters are black and white, the hens have the brown chest, silver hackles, and grey tails.

Awwww, Lolly is a very cute bantam!

Fun fact: hens that crow are doing so with the attempt of luring a rooster to there location (if the flock doesn’t have one
That's cool. I've never heard of that before. Thank you for sharing that!
my one astrolorp sometimes tries to crow. we have no roo, so maybe she is trying to take the place of what a roo is supposed to do?

She identifies as a rooster
Ole timers would be rolling over in their graves if they heard that hen crow 😂😂😂😂
You sure about that? Hens trying to crow is nothing new.
@@davidmajor1508 I know it's nothing new, I'm saying they wouldn't keep a crowing hen they say it's bad luck

Oh, I see. Good point.
It sounded like she was mocking the roosters
Yeah, lol. 😅 I don't think she was, but it does sound that way. 😆
A whistling woman and a crowing hen always comes to some bad end.
Wait… I whistle.
Bantam hen crowing.💀
Title is misleading, this is not a Batman hen.
That is her first time to crowing
Nice! Watching from philippines.😀

No full grown rooster has a comb that small.
