Brings back some memories, my chickens used to sit on top of the 6 foot gate waiting for it to be opened even though the could leave if they really wanted to. One hen liked to roost about 30 feet up a tree. Funny birds, I will keep chickens again some day.
They are naturally such beautiful birds, almost like a bird of paradise when they fly. Look what we have done to them with all the greed and factory farming methods.
Look what we have done? You acting like they are extinct. If anything we are benefiting both sides. We eating good and people aren’t actively trying to get rid of this species 💀
@@baryonsimon9400 seriously here in the Philippines we just get a 2 meter rope tie they're feet then give them something to perch on they're usually really happy since they have enough food that they don't need to move from place to place
Depends on the breed of chicken. Lighter breeds can get airborne, but the heavy meat-breeds are usually unable. Hens fly better than roos, because of their structure - a roo's job is to make himself "available" to distract predators from his hens. Even peacocks fly - so the tail isn't a problem - it's weight. Yes, guineas fly - beautiful when they're airborne - try to get film of them close up and slow-mo it! Beautiful wings!
Absolutely true. These chickens are Old English Game, a breed known to fly well. Guinea fowl are no different from their wild cousins and fly like pheasants.
I have never seen chickens fly that high for that long stretch of distance. I knew guinea could do it, but not barnyard chickens. The ones I have seen act as though they would rather stay on the ground and run instead of fly.
I've always wanted to give that a go but they'd be ornamental/egg types. They have such large bones compared to their body (esp their feet), they'd lose a lot of muscle mass down the generations. They'd be like more graceful turkeys.
That's insane, i had a rooster that show up in the second floor, or the roof of my house, and he flew just like your, i never seen it in slow mo, and less more then 1
I love guineas... The only problem is, YOU don't have guineas, everyone that lives within a mile of you now has guineas. They roam much farther than chickens
They can fly a HECK of a lot higher than that! Our most popular roosting poles for out birds are about ten to twelve feet off the ground. They easily fly up there.
20 feet height they can fly...Once a wild dog came to attack my grand mom's Hen....It flew up a bit above 20 feet and sat over a tree...3 minutes it was in air
Beautiful video, I love seeing chicken flying! :) Which breed are your chicken? P.S. last year in Indonesia one day I was on scooter, I entered the parking area of the little resort where I was sleeping, which was surrounded by jungle... One male wild fowl was there, he saw me, and just flew away like a pheasant, disappearing into high trees, still gaining height! It was an amazing sight! I already happened to see wild fowls, but it was in Singapore, they were used to see people so they were not likely to fly away!
My chickens are a variety of cross breeds in this video, most are part Hamburg or part Friesian fowl, jungle fowl are great flyers, I hope to get some soon.
Chicken channel they have some hatching eggs in ebay, if one day you decide to buy some make sure you check first the sellers feedbacks, i love jungle fowls👍👍
The gate was open the whole time...plus the "fence" doesn't have chicken wire so they could have walked right under it. So they're just flying for the hell of it?
my chickens would ‘fly’ around just for the hell of it. they were rhode island reds so they never got a lot of height or distance, but they always did try. i think they do it to stretch out their wings and also for fun
This is amazing. I have a hen she is Gamecock. When was teenage, she used to take off fly like this over my head because she was so excited to see me. Now she is 3 years old gained a lot weight, she still can fly over the fence but not long distance anymore. I never got such beautiufl footage of her like you did here. Nice Job, thank you for catch that. It's so amazing and beautiful! Where are you located at? I am in WA state.
Little Tiny House I have a 4 year old hen who was a great flyer in her teens but gained adult weight and seemed to lose her ability, however once she started living in the tree with the guineafowl she’s become a great flyer again and can fly across all my fields, she’s still the same weight but just a lot fitter! It seems most birds weight isn’t the issue it’s fitness and mental belief in what they can do that determines how well they fly! I live in Worcestershire, England
Super, you must be very good to your chickens for them to fly that HIGH! I am going to keep your video permanently, - it is one of the best things ever, thanks for looking after your chickens like that.
The guinea look like they are flying in slow motion, nice. I am interested in your farm, looks very old and with a stone fence. Where are you located? You should do a video showing us around the house and farm.

The slow flying chicken sounds like a dinosaur.
They are naturally such beautiful birds, almost like a bird of paradise when they fly. Look what we have done to them with all the greed and factory farming methods.
Nah we’ve been doing this to em for a while. The bigger the chicken the better the eating.
All lion are cruel we have to kill em all according to vegan logic.
I know right :((
I just hate People now lol
Pet chickens should not be overfed so they can fly
Look what we have done? You acting like they are extinct. If anything we are benefiting both sides. We eating good and people aren’t actively trying to get rid of this species 💀
Moral of the story: They do know how to fly... They only do it when they want to.
No people trim their wing feathers so they can't fly away

In Hawaii they have feral chickens. I was shocked to see how far they can manage to fly when they wanted too!!
Those chicken learned to fly directly from Guineafowl,I guess,🤪😄😄
Omg birds so beautiful I love your channel 🙏🏻
Damn, flying chickens look so majestic.
Old english fowl & their bantam counterparts are the best flying domesticated chicken breed. (Of course jungle fowl are the best)
Flying peacock just like a colorful phoenix
Ahh so that's how my chickens are getting over the fence
the grace of a chicken actually flying...
I have never seen chickens fly that high for that long stretch of distance. I knew guinea could do it, but not barnyard chickens. The ones I have seen act as though they would rather stay on the ground and run instead of fly.
Wow, that chick at 1:27 lets you know that she can gain height. lol She flew straight over that tree.
If she could she would have flowen over the house haha
I never saw South African chickens fly like this. They should be special breed.
That chicken 1:24 was impressive
It can fly like a bird
I loved this video
Thanks

I would continue breeding your best flyers. You might be able to produce a new strain of flying chickens

That's counterproductive
@@soniablanche5672 why so
They could always fly but because of humans injecting shit into their body. They become more bigger and lay 1000% more eggs then they are supposed to

I'd like to visit a farm like this! Amazing!

Chicken be like: OH MAH GOD ITS A FENCE nope I can fly over it
Sometimes we forget chicken is a bird 😂😂😂🙂
Yes, we compare it more to the dinosaurs than a bird :D
Absolutely
So are penguins
And ostriches
and emus
The things is that, chicken's body is so heavy that as soon as they begin flying, their body weight is pulling them down.

The golden one is my favourite, she flies far and high. Is she still alive in 2022?
So beautiful 🥰
there is something really soothing about seeing chickens fly
Hlo
Daria Robyn it’s because they naturally can fly, we have genetically motified them to be more fatter over so many years
I think only when in slow mo. They don't look that gracious in real life. haha
Ikr?

I am becoming quite the fan of yellow hen. She lifts off with such grace and is quite nimble. The others need a little more practice.

Freedom in captivity, are we different than these flocks? Thanks for taking us back to our childhood scenarios...bless you.
Funny how they need to give themselves a running start
Chickens can fly without a running start the mostly walk and run but when the person chasing them is to fast they run and jump to fly

it appears hens are better than roosters at flying....according to this clip :-)
makes sense. The hens don't have that heavy waddle, and their tails are a bit flatter.
@@globin3477 Hens also have less muscle mass to make them lighter in weight, so they will have less load to carry when they are airborne.
