I just bought a 2018 grand cherokee laredo but it only came with one fob. I do not have remote start. I've found a replacement fob which had the remote start button and another button to open the back hatch which my current also does not have. Could the replacement fob I'm looking at buying still be programmed for me jeep even though it has functions that my current fob does not have? I'd that makes sense?
I have an extra fobik to program in however when I put the unprogrammed key into the ignition and turn to on position I have no lights showing up on the dash.. Just saying wrong key. Could I have a faulty fobik?
Learned the same lesson the hard way. I purchased the wrong key for the car. I bet if you put the key in the ignition the car will start. And the buttons will work the car. Unfortunately your key doesn’t have the keyless go function. You need to buy the key with that feature for the keyless go to work

If you have the fob programmed, it will start the car and you basic remote functions will work. The extra buttons will have no effect either way.

I’m getting damaged key message on dash. Do I need to change SKIM or just get new keys programmed ?
