No BS. everything was helpful and straight to the point watched from start to finish . Im starting out with kayaks soon, safety was especially helpful, some things I did not consider.
Howsiiiit!! I used to do the guidings but not anymore due to work etc etc. Your best bet is to make contact with KayakFish.co.za and hire a kayak and potentially see if they can get you onto a kayak fishing group while you are here bugger.
Great tips. Straight to the point. Good stuff. A big thing on a kayak is simplicity and versatility. Don't bring the whole tackle shop with you. I typically have two trolling rods, one spinning rod and one very short bait rod if I plan on catching live bait on that day, however I can quickly convert my spinning rig to a bait rig if need be. A couple extra lures and rigs and I am sorted. Kayak fishing forces you to be minimalistic, which makes you quickly realize what's needed and what is just extra clutter.
Because you not braaing with rugby world champs... *cough cough... haha just kidding man! I know what you mean dude. The braai bug is biting you bad!!! Kom huis toe!
Ay very insightful bru. I was just gifted a Wahoo superlight so thanks for the info. Your channel awsome. Wana integrate kayak fishing into my own show.
I’m new to kayaking in the ocean, I’ve done plenty of it in river and estuary in the Eastern Cape. I’m a small guy…. Do you think the stealth 350 would be suitable for me around Cape Town area? I’m thinking of starting inside false bay and then going Atlantic sea board side. Not looking at going to far out to begin with.
Hi skipper, thanks for the great video. I am starting out and am in the process of buying a kayak. Just want to ask you about the importance of getting a kayak with a rudder and also a plastic kayak vs fibreglass.
Thanks fir the support and comment. So if you want to go for a kayak without a rudder then I'd advise staying close to shore or freshwater. Get a rudder if you want to fish the sea. Plastic vs fibreglass? Plastic is heavier but more stable and takes a few knocks (is tough). Fibreglass is fast, agile and thus less stable as well as more likely to crack on impacts. Both do the job, fibreglass just does it faster. 🤘
Thanks for a great video. New to kayak fishing, but looking to get into it. Simple question, if you could get two rod/reel combos for spinning and trolling specifically interested in yellowtail/bonnie's/tuna etc not really for bottom fishing. I prefer coffee grinders, but then I've never kayak fished before What would you recommend?
Howsit Thanks for the epic comment and welcome to the sport! I'm sure by now you are in depth with the sport already? But I'd not mess around, get a Shimano Spheros 5000/6000 (Or a Gosa) Use this with an Assassin Duel 7ft Heavy 30lb braid, 35lb/40lb leader Use this for spinning. Cheap trolling setup: Adrenalin xmaster 30 30lb mono 40lb leader Elbe Snoek rod Sorted!
I noticed that a lot of South Africans and Australians seem to be on much skinnier kayaks than Americans; what's the advantages? I usually use a canoe for my freshwater fishing and do not have a dedicated ocean fishing kayak, but have been thinking about converted a wider surfski. Would like to hear your thoughts.
That's because we are in better shape! 😂😂 Just kidding so the Americans use the big Hobie kayaks with pedals drive systems (no need to row). We use the smaller/thinner skis for our surf launches to punch fast out the surf zone. There's tons of brands out there so it's best to test em all before you buy one. 🥳👍 Where about are you bud? 😁
Lakkaaaaaa Dude absolutely no silly questions ever mate, just a question with an educational answer. 🤘 So the fish finder units themselves are pretty waterproof as long as the cable aren't removed from the unit at all then it's all good! Just check which unit you are getting if it's waterproof but most now days are waterproof man. ✌️
Hey bud you can get your waterman pfd's through them too. Check out the link in the video description. It's an affiliate link so I get a small kickback on those who purchase through the link. 🥳🤙
