Totally agree Hoyt for the win this year. I’ve shot bow tech, Mathews, prime, and Hoyt was a lot smoother and killed it this year with there new grip. Also easier to pull felt like 5 pounds less. Mathew always runs a little heavy like a 1 to 2 pounds heavier out of the box. So naturally gonna shoot a little faster. Also I don’t hear many people talk about how jumpy Mathews bow is. Was wondering if the actual draw length was checked on both. Mathews often is 1/2" long and would also give a bit more speed along with the slightly heavier draw on the V3X
I don’t mean to bash the video as I know how it can go in the moment, but it would have been best to weigh them first before shooting, and if they’re both cranked all the way take off a turn on the mathews to make them both 69lbs. Also make sure draw lengths are actually equal as well. I feel that would have not only made the Hoyt speed closer to the mathews, but also could have made the mathews draw cycle feel a touch better as well. I think these two bows are a great comparison and both a great option. Personally I’d be more interested in seeing the difference of opinion on how these bows holds on target etc. That longer riser on the v3x should be a possible accuracy advantage. Side to side it looked like a longer ata just because of that. Overall good job.
Of course it's smoother!! Mathews guys be like😑 ..haha I can tell just by how easy you pulled the Hoyt back how much better the draw was.. Oh yea and actually having them to know what the do feel like...I like Mathews but that stiff draw made me sell mine

But I just find hunting bows like the V3 more aesthetically pleasing, just a personal nit pic of mine.
Love the videos you man. I’m wondering on the speed test you did. Mathews was faster, but on the Hoyt speed test with the draw length you used you would be on the lower end of that particular MOD which would make the speed that much slower. Im guessing if they had more of a similar MOD the speeds would be a lot closer, agree or not?
Great video ! How much does the 2 extra lbs make in speed. Again I noticed the noise the Mathews made when you hit full draw,so I'm guessing an animal would also inside 30 yards. Have you considered checking draw poundage first, then adjusting? Thanks again for AWESOME reviews.
Shot both as well. These were number 1 and 2 easily over the other 5 i shot. Went with mathews. The draw on the mathews was a little more noticeable, but i am told change the mods to 80% from 85% and it cleans up the draw. I liked the overall feel and release of the mathews.
I shot both today. I’m shooting a 31 inch draw which may be the reason, but I thought the V3X was way smoother than the hoyt. The Hoyt had a nasty hump at 31 inches. However when I had the RX5 ultra last year I thought that was super smooth. Same with the ventum as long as the draw length wasn’t maxed out. I also thought the Mathews was significantly quieter and more dead too. Like I said, I shoot 31 inches and my opinion could be very different if I shot a shorter draw length. Awesome video!
I had, and am still having, such a hard time deciding between these two. 28.5" draw @ 60#. Seemed like the Hoyt felt a touch better but Mathews having the speed, new bridgelock, tighter profile, and SAS pushed me toward the V3x. Going to be interesting getting sights to work as far as windage adjustment goes. BTW, have you done the giveaway for the Ventum yet? I see the V3 now available for a giveaway so am just curious if you've given away the Ventum and I just missed it. Thanks for the videos and insight!
Honest opinion on draw cycles would be hoyt very stiff on beginning of draw then gets easier till valley. Mathews more even pull without till valley. Shot both . That would be a honest review.
Had a V3X33 ended up trading for a Ventum Pro. Mathews makes good bows but Hoyt has been around ALOT longer and it shows in their quality of bows. I’ve owned multiple Mathews and the grips are always terrible and their strings are subpar for a $1000 bow and their yoke system is flawed and causes cable failures. Literally seen one fail at the shop while I was trading my V3X. On the Hoyt you can change draw length without spending $50-$70 on mods and the Mathews you have to take cams off to change cables due to their yoke system. Mathews is great but Hoyt is excellent!
Shot a lot of bows today. Looking for my first bow.Ventum pro 33, Mathew’s v3x 33, and prime inline 3. Prime was the first one out too much vibration, I had a close battle with the v3x and the Ventum. V3x draw cycle no where near as smooth. Had slight had shock even with a stabilizer on and the thing just wanted to jump with the slightest let off. The Ventum pro checked all the boxes comfort of the grip the draw cycle the left off and 0 hand shock made it an easy decision. Also $150 cheaper 1150 vs 1300.
I love your reviews, would love to see a comparison of the revoltx80 vs the v3x 33 @75lbs but rumors are you can’t pull that much weight, no judgement here though.

Shot both in store today, as well as 4 other bows. I had a completely different take on the draw cycles, the V3X 33 felt soo much smoother too me, by far the smoothest to me! Both bows felt dead in hand, couldn't tell a difference between the two in that category. I'm thinking the V3X is going to be the one I go with. But the store did have a Stealth Mach 1 for a great price... making the decision harder! Great review though!!
Nice honest video i loved the grip and easier draw of the pro over the v3x i chose speed over ease of cycle another great video. Next up v3x 29 vs ventum pro 30 lol. Keep up the great work
It seems to me this is an apples to oranges thing. It’s pretty easy to build a smooth and quiet bow if you don’t care about speed. I still own an Elite Synergy from 2016. By far the smoothest draw I’ve ever experienced, but the IBO is 325. I also own a Vertix and a V3. Much faster than my Elite, but not nearly as smooth. Personally, I think all of the new stuff is pretty nice, what’s important to you? In the end, for the most part, Hoyt guys are buying another Hoyt and the Mathews guys will do the same Shoot what you like.
This is the head to head battle of 2022... nicer grip and smoother draw vs better speeds and more forgiving riser. Then when you add in the accessories and the SAS system to press bow in the field, Mathews takes it by a hair IMO. Also, 13fps slower is A LOT slower. And if you tested it at 29.5" draw, the Hoyt would have been even worse because it's the first position of their rotating mods.
The V3X is a 4.43% faster in this test at the lower arrow weigth, and between a 1% and a 1.9% with the heavier ones, and a 0,63% faster in the MFJJ testing videos, and I guess that He test every arrow five times (for the IBO standards) the gap will probably be even closer. Yes, the V3X is more efficient and has a bit better balance, but has a more stiff draw cycle, is less quiet and vibrates more after the shoot. I find both too short axle to axle to my tastes, but if I had to buy one would be the Ventum Pro 33.
I've done the same test he just did 3 times now, and I didn't own either brand during testing so I'm not bias... Mathews won in every category but grip and smoothness of draw. When you have speed to burn, you could just turn it down so it's less stiff and be just as fast or faster than the Hoyt. And no one shoots a Mathews and says it vibrates more or has hand shock. 13fps is quite a bit slower when creating sight tapes for shooting longer distances.
@@jons7e MFJJ definitely felt a buzz while testing it. A smoother draw cycle usually leads to more arrows training and that alone adds skill. Plus the same argument in reversal can be used vs the V3X: some people which usually pulls #70 are ordering the Ventum Pro 33 and RX7 Ultra in #80 due how smooth they felt the draw cycle in the Hoyts. If speed alone were the crucial factor for hunting then recurves would come to home with empty hands, and we all known that that's not the case...
The string angle was different because the mathews was longer than 30. Every one knows mathews run long on their draw numbers. Its how they get an extra 12 to 15 fps. They cheat as much as the patriots.
So did you actually measure the draw length on a draw board. I can tell the mathews is about an inch longer in draw just watching your hold. Your form looks good with the hoyt and then with the mathews you are leaning back and have your head held back too. Pretty easy to see this in the video. I have not shot a ventum but have shot a vx3. The vx3 is very dead in the hand but had a big dump on the back of the draw cycle. I will definitely go check out a ventum after seeing this. But please test the bows in an apple to apple setting. I just wish the bow companies would stop the lying already. Nobody is going to take everything of their bow to shoot it. So advertise the weight of the bow the way it comes out of the box not stripped down. And no company is hitting their advertising ibo speeds. Some are way off and others not so much. Id rather know the truth in helping to decide the bows to try out. If it shoots 330 stop calling it an sr350. Disappointing. Just tell us the truth so you dont look bad when they are so much slower than they really are. Haxen keep it real for us dude. Like your content. Thanks for the vent. I feel better now.
Considering the extra draw weight on the V3X, and that you will lose 1/2 inch of draw with Mathews, the speeds are negligible. Draw cycle was why I left Mathews for Bowtech years ago, now I’m looking hard at Hoyt… whenever they ship a lefty near me lol
When you're shopping these flag ship Bows from top companies, it boils down to personal preferences, hunting styles, or tournament archery. I've been a Mathews shooter for many years, I believe my first was a Legacy, then outback, conquest apex 7, and finally a z7 extreme from the solocam years. Now that Mathews is twin cam? If either has any technological advantages, they're miniscule at Best. For everyone from elite hunting pros, to the average ass in the grass bow hunters, any of the top 5 pics of 2022 will take you to the peak of your abilities, with human error being your top concern. Everything else is just marketing.
Mathews bows haven't been as nice as a draw ever since the switchweight system came out a similar bow to v3x is the traverse with no switchweight system and is night and day a better draw cycle then the v3x and still get great speeds out of it to me the traverse was a better bow and still is and the mathews grip is a improvement over the old grip but I couldn't stand how rounded it was in the back putting side plates on made a big difference for me even though I didn't hate the engage grip just never loved it hoyt still has the best grip though
you should test the Mathews with a stabilizer.. the Hoyt has one, and their engineers say putting that stubby on there is equivalent to having a 7in stabilizer on due to the geometry of the riser. Not trying to be a Matthews homer here... but I think that would even out the feel test a bit.
Yeah totally feel ya! I try to shoot them basically as is out of the box to compare at factory setups but yes I’ll need to shoot it with some stabilizers cause it’s an incredible bow!
He may be… but have you shot the ventum or ventum pro? They’re truly amazing bows. Hoyt has been slacking but not with the ventum line. The rx7 is sweet also just a little out of my price range.
23-15 fps slower is more than a bit. That’s why the Hoyt draws smoother. Speed comes with a cost. Easy drawing usual will be slower than an aggressive or stiff drawing bow
I agree that much speed is a big difference but it’s only 5fps on the 520grain 3fps on 480 And 13fps on the 440 grain arrows. Plus the V3X is 3lbs heavier draw weight so speed isn’t that much different for how much smoother the Hoyt draws
If you want to know the leader of the archery industry, look at how many companies have copied and now look like one. Namely, when Mathews introduced the halon series and then the vertix, 3 other top brands have finally copied enough innovations to catch up lol I’m not discounting Hoyt but let’s be real, it’s taken them 5 years to get to even close to compete with Mathews. Widened limbs, front stabilizer, new yoke system, and overall geometry is all a reflection of Mathews amazing systems. Go ahead and call me a fan boy I know, but bowtech, prime, and Hoyt have all been copying the leader for a while now 🤣
Hoyts don’t have a yoke system. It’s a 3 track binary cam system. Which Bowtech actually had before anyone in 2004. Also Hoyt had split limbs way before Mathews ever did. Hoyt also had the first online sight system too. To say everyone has been trying to catch up to Mathews is just not true.
A blindfold will not even be close. You can tell each bow just by the grip feel. Now if you made a grip that went over every bows original grip and then did a blindfold you would be harder pressed to know which bow you were shooting.
Doesn’t matter what it is he will pick Hoyt. Which will kill a deer faster a Hoyt or a nuclear warhead. “i dOnT kNoW gUys i bEliEvE dUh hOyt hAs DiS oNe”
@@lycheeznuts well ya its a 2 pound heavier draw.. so it does make sense its faster.. will 2 pounds make it worse in Cycling? I dont Think so.. The ventum has smoother draw Cycle.. thats it..

Maybe his pants are to tight making him somewhat light in the briches
Considering the extra draw weight on the V3X, and that you will lose 1/2 inch of draw with Mathews, the speeds are negligible. Draw cycle was why I left Mathews for Bowtech years ago, now I’m looking hard at Hoyt… whenever they ship a lefty near me lol
I love your video
Duuude, it's VenTum from the Latin Ventus, not Venom from Marvel ;)
😂😂
I bet you voted Biden

I knew what bow he liked better before he even fired one lol
Clearly the better one😜
But in all seriousness the V3X 33 is a fire shooter! I’ve shot it a few more times since this video and I do really enjoy it!!
Totally agree with you man!
I will say my vxr 31.5 has a way better and easier pull than the V3 and the V3x33.
Take the engage grip off and put a UV grip on it. Best Mathews grip out there have it on both my Mathews bows.
you should test the Mathews with a stabilizer.. the Hoyt has one, and their engineers say putting that stubby on there is equivalent to having a 7in stabilizer on due to the geometry of the riser. Not trying to be a Matthews homer here... but I think that would even out the feel test a bit.
Yeah totally feel ya! I try to shoot them basically as is out of the box to compare at factory setups but yes I’ll need to shoot it with some stabilizers cause it’s an incredible bow!
@@HaxenHunt for sure, but I also meant to add that I think you’re doing a great job with your content. Keep it comping, man 👍🏻
Thank you!! I appreciate it👊🏽👊🏽
I hated the Hoyt, Mathews was more dead and liked draw better. Hoyt was also 9fps slower at my shop.
Just way to bios to hoyts and there are just on the low end of the spectrum.
He may be… but have you shot the ventum or ventum pro? They’re truly amazing bows. Hoyt has been slacking but not with the ventum line. The rx7 is sweet also just a little out of my price range.
And the winner of the best aluminum bow for 2022 is……… Athens Vista 33!
Those look sweet
Lol Athens. Looks like a recycled Elite Ritual. Hardly any dealer network and it’ll be worth about 200 dollars in two years.
23-15 fps slower is more than a bit. That’s why the Hoyt draws smoother. Speed comes with a cost. Easy drawing usual will be slower than an aggressive or stiff drawing bow
I agree that much speed is a big difference but it’s only 5fps on the 520grain
3fps on 480
And 13fps on the 440 grain arrows.
Plus the V3X is 3lbs heavier draw weight so speed isn’t that much different for how much smoother the Hoyt draws
@@HaxenHunt sorry for the typo above I meant 13-15 fps
@@HaxenHunt hoyt has less letoff tho so that speed gap gets even wider once you use the Mathews 80% mods
In-line sight system.
I like blindfold test. No room for bias in the review because you don't know what you're shooting.
Hoyt draw cycle is much nicer
Well ya it's a 10 fps slower bow
@@lycheeznuts well ya its a 2 pound heavier draw.. so it does make sense its faster.. will 2 pounds make it worse in Cycling? I dont Think so.. The ventum has smoother draw Cycle.. thats it..
I have always liked your content... but you definitely lean Hoyt more often than not...I always keep that in mind when I am watching.
Yeah I feel ya! I just feel like they fit the best in my hand for sure! Haha
👌🏽😂
Not that hard to lean Hoyt. Haxen is a smart feller.
Your comparing a speed bow to a non speed bow- of course the draw will be easier on the Hoyt.
? Which bow is a speed bow? Haha they’re pretty close to each other
@@HaxenHunt you are right- i don't know what i was thinking...
