You missunderstood that frequency response thing...It has nothing to do with the volume setting on your mixer.
Infact it means on the frequency response graph 55 Hz and 20kHz (x-axis) are at -3dB on the y-axis (right where the graph begins to drop). Same for -10dB. Or in other words: The speaker plays pretty linear between 55 Hz and 20 kHz (at a maximum drop of 3 dB). And it can even play down to 46 Hz, but at 7 dB less volume than its able to play a 55 Hz tone. Search google for frequency response graphs and youll understand.
