I thought the same thing, I'll just leave it. I decided I'd search for the video that was not 7 minutes and therefore was not multiple steps. I've got one of those mops that can be used with the handle at half length.
Thank you! Thank you! This was the best tip I've seen, and tried, in a LONG time. I bought a new "moping" Swiffer and it's dedicated to windshield cleaning, and it now has a permanent home in the trunk of the car. No streaks!! Awesome!!!!
Rebecca, you ROCK! I was shopping for an inside windshield cleaner and there are a couple kinds to choose from. One is triangular, a few are rectangular. Same premise as your swiffer type, but an additional item to store and well, I came upon your video and I’ve gotta say THANK YOU! I have a swiffer and I can’t believe it never occurred to me to use it before seeing your video. I took heed of your advice about chemicals that might be left the head getting inside the windshield and put a layer of inexpensive plastic wrap on first. Thank you so much!!!!
Rebecca. You are quite logical. Perfect solution for a very common problem, specially in CSUVs and SUVs. Was looking for a solution just like this for our new Escape (which has a cavernous window) and you are the very first link I followed.
You are BRILLIANT!!! I've been trying to find an easy way to clean the inside of the front windshield for decades! This really is easy and works great! THANKS
Great idea! I noticed a couple of readers were asking how to get rid of streaks. It's recommended to first clean with a solution of alcohol and water with a clean waffle or microfiber towel. Then clean with your favorite glass cleaner. This gets rid of the oils that build up in you car from plastics and rubber heating up during hot weather. Zap glass cleaner works good or mix: 2 cups water. 1/4 cup white vinegar. 1/2 teaspoon dish detergent. Wipe down twice with plain water.
Carmela, thanks for the advice. Alcohol is a good way to break up oils. My window cleaner hasn't left streaks (yet) so I've not had to do a dual cleaning. I don't use a cloth only because I prefer the paper towel since it doesn't have oils from laundry residue on it. It works for me with the mop handle I use. 😊😊
Good2Know I used it this morning and my windshield looks CLEAN! I think I’ll go for a drive tonight, to see how it looks with street lights shining in! I’ve hated working hard to clean it by hand, only to see oily streaks across it at night, when I need a clear view of traffic! ❤️
I have a little car, a Fiat 500, and it's a bugger to clean near the bottom of the windshield. This looks like a great solution. Thanks for the video...
Thanks for the video. I'm having problems cleaning the inside of my windshield and will probably try this. Although I see some issues, I'll try anything at this point.
If i haven't learned something new every day, I simply hasn't been paying attention . . . Thanks for a brilliant tip Rebecca! (PS: Say hello to Ricco for me, will you!) Greetings from Norway! 😄👍
@@OldCountryCooks I'm safe as can be here in 'nippy' Norway (it's just a tremendous drag to be being 'ruled' by a bunch of corrupt politicians, as is the norm _all over_ the place...). Both yourself and Riko take care now! 😉👍
Thank you so much for your your presentation. I have already used it and it's wonderfully easy and efficient. When I go to the car wash I aleays ask them to focus on the windows. But It always gets smudgy.. This fixes the problem
My best window cleaner juice is a drop of Dawn in some warm water. Apply with a paper towel. Wipe dry. No rinsing. No streaks either. I did my patio sliding door with this and I was amazed how well it worked. Better than windex.
Th-a-a-a-n-k You! After looking at the other videos, it appeared that cleaning the inside glass was going to take as long as it would to wash the exterior! Yep. Just leave it was my thought too.
Paper towels leave dingleberries! Use same method, just switch to microfiber towel. Preferably microfiber towels with the waffle/cross pattern ones. Always clean windshield from the passenger seat too. No steering wheel in your way.
thank you, great idea, going to try this with my flip mop and new refills for car only cleaning ... its one of those, why didn't i think of that moments watching this

Paper towels have their own chemicals in them. Plus, they can scratch. I think it would be better to use a clean microfiber cloth that has not been dried with fabric softener on the mop head.
You may be right about chemicals in paper towels. All I know is this method works for me. I agree with leaving out fabric softener on microfiber, kitchen linens and anything used to clean glass. But thank you for the comment, all ideas are welcome here. 😊
Heads up! - Do not underestimate the brand of glass cleaner! This lady happens to be using the best brand of cleaner you can buy -> ‘SPRAY AWAY’ I was a Glass & Mirror installer it was the only brand we used. It does not leave a film.
The long handle actually made it easier. This was absolutely the easiest way I've ever cleaned the inside of my windshield long handle and all. Thanks for watching!
It seems like a great idea for a VAN/TRUCK. But not practical for a compact car. The handle is WAY to long. But for vans/trucks, good idea! Now if you can find a glass cleaner that doesnt leave a film behind. THAT would be a video to watch over and over!
yea i didnt think of that. I always use it for the floor, forgot it is two sections. Still wish I could find a window cleaner that will clean the inside glass and NOT leave a fog/streaks behind. I have tried every thing from plain water, to water and vinegar, to Windex, to Invisible Glass, to the stuff for computer screens! Everything leaves streaks, or it is foggy again days later. In a car 13yrs old, it has 'out gassed' by now!
NEW car windshield glass has all the gases that are escaping from the plastics/vinyl in the dash, that is fogging up the glass. But in old cars that has long faded away, like in my car. I can get it clean pretty good with 'Cinch' and using CHEAP paper towels. The 'top shelf towels' are full of perfumes and softeners, like Bounty or Viva or other thick very thick paper towels, ....but cheap grocery store brand paper towels that are like 1 layer, don't leave much streaking behind, and get rid of a lot of the 'fog', but it only lasts a week or two. Wish it would last longer, and just stay clean for like a month!
I have to stress the importance of putting the paper towels on EXACTLY like she said to. I only watched part of the video at first, went right out and bought a new swiffer and I only used single layers of paper towels and they would tear every time. I'm glad I came back and watched the whole thing cause I had no idea what was doing wrong. I thought maybe i was using inferior paper towels or something. doubling them up like she did should ensure that they won't rip. I'm trying it her way as soon as it warms up out here today, 23f right now, brrrrrr
Sorry. I have been detailing cars for years. You have to get the greasy film off before you can use glass cleaner. Cleaner itself will not get the film off. You need to use something to cut the film before the glass cleaner. It may look clean but I guarantee it is not.
yeah let me get a long mop handle so I can whack my face and scratch everything in my car. But I guess when your a stiff, inflexible boomer this is a good idea. (not)
THIS is my type of cleaning all the other 10 step videos had me starting to think “maybe I’ll just leave it.”
LOL, I know the feeling. All the vids I saw before weren't easy or quick.
I'm glad you watched and found it helpful.
I thought the same thing, I'll just leave it. I decided I'd search for the video that was not 7 minutes and therefore was not multiple steps. I've got one of those mops that can be used with the handle at half length.

Thank you so much Dawn!

Works like a charm I always tolerated the film on the inside of my window because I hated cleaning it. Thank you for this ❤️💛❤️

Anyone else mesmerized by the cicadas in the background?
I can't pay attention to your comment, cuz I'm still mesmerised.
Sounds like Orlando Florida . Rather reminds me of Florida 🦋
Brings back some fond memories of my youth... and the end of the school year! Lol

I used a mop like that to wax kitchen cabinets. Does that count?
That works AV!
Thanks for watching, you'll love how easy this is. You can use a micro fiber cloth instead of paper towel if you prefer.

There are microfiber mop pads that fit on a Swiffer sweeper. Wet paper towels tear.

Paper towels can not scratch bare glass. You can use 00 steel wool on glass.
Sprayway is the best glass cleaner! great tip 👍
Thank you my friend!
can you clean outside and other windows in car using this method? also any glass cleaner that is ammonia free works right?
great advice btw
Yes you can clean any windows like this. Try using vinegar, it's great for Windows. Thanks for watching.
Thank you Rebecca !! Very helpful
Thank you very much.
Would this work on Snoop-Dog's car windows
Snoop would just buy a new car when his windows got dirty!

Another way of cleaning the inside of your windscreen is to put a dog or cat up there and go rallying.

Vinyl and other plastics off- gas molecules that cling to glass and are very difficult to remove because they are not readily water soluble.
Thanks

i wonder if car makers put a clear coat on the glass...which wreaks havoc with cleaning ingredients ...i heard that once.
