There’s a reason the History Channel has produced hundreds of documentaries about Hitler but only a few about Dwight D. Eisenhower. Bad guys (and gals) are eternally fascinating. Behind the Bastards dives in past the Cliffs Notes of the worst humans in history and exposes the bizarre realities of their lives. Listeners will learn about the young adult novels that helped Hitler form his monstrous ideology, the founder of Blackwater’s insane quest to build his own Air Force, the bizarre lives of the sons and daughters of dictators and Saddam Hussein’s side career as a trashy romance novelist.
New episodes twice a week on iHeartRadio.

Oh hey, this is extremely relevant again, NOW!
The Onion has a video from like 9 years ago. Still relevant. Horrific and evil.
While this episode was uploaded to UA-cam 5 months ago, it's actually from 2021. When they are talking about ethnic cleansing and bombs falling in Gaza, they're talking about the May 2021 bombings of Gaza by Israel, not the current 2023-24 genocide campaign by Israel.
Thanks for the context!
It's utterly fucked up that you have to be like "they're talking about that previous genocide"
Oh but I thought history started on Oct 7!
/s obviously

It is messed up that each of the Gaza wars was closely related to Israeli elections.
Jimmy Carter wrote a book called Peace Not Apartheid, and was absolutely slammed for being an antisemite.
Calling out ethnic cleansing and genocide of a people who aren't even given soverign nation rights, especially when it's committed by a conservative government, shouldn't be classified as antisemitism.
There are absolutely antisemitic ways to talk about it, but the subject, in my opinion, is far from inherently antisemitic.
Ironic that about a month after you wrote that the current war started and what you talked about has been dialed up to 11. You're simply not allowed to criticize the right-wing nationalist government that currently runs Israel or you'll be declared an anti-Semite.
(Unless you're Israeli - then it's ok but also American news media won't cover it.)
Sad that this has been happening for so long. This comment and video could be made every year and be relevant.
Liberals worshiping Palestinians is like Trump supporters worshipping Louis Farrakhan. 😉
@@petebondurant58 I have about as much in common with a liberal as a liberal has with a MAGA drone.
@@petebondurant58 worshipping victims of actively occuring genocide? What are they being worshipped with, their own blood sacrifice?
“Put my head in the sand and hope everything will be okay” sounds like a US politics expert to me.
Wouldn't be surprised if parts of this end up on the subreddit I follow that documents antisemitism online. I joined becuz it's mostly dunking on Nazi's but you occasionally get something about someone criticizing the atrocities Israel is committing and, as we all know, any criticism of the Israeli government is antisemitism, somehow.
theres a really good "it could happen here" episode that they dropped recently about how Zionism just ends up aiding actual antisemitism
of course it is /s
But seriously, devout jewish scholars even if they do coicecriticism which ,is so perverted
The Rhodesian and DeKlerk South Africa were staunch Supporters of Israel. Do you folks remember that explosion of the coast of South Africa in april 1979? I believe Israel's weatherservice declared it a "Superbolt" mega-lightning strike.
@@marocat4749I heard someone a few weeks ago call Ilan Pappé a "self hating Jewish Antisemite" when I cited one of his books detailing the atrocities committed in founding Israel.
Who could have imagined that the allied powers carving up the middle east afrer WW2 and giving a chunk of it to a single ethnic group would have nehative consequences down the road?
"We Western/European countries will take no responsibility for our antisemitism...so let's make a group of brown people pay the ultimate price for crimes they weren't responsible for!" Ditto for MENA countries. Palestinians aren't responsible for the crimes of other MENA countries and the oppression of Mizrahi/Sephardic Jews can't be used to justify the oppression of Palestinians. End of story.
1917 Lord Balfour gave Walter Rothchild the permission to start a homeland in Palestine. The zionist made a transfer agreement with the Nazis to move jews to Palestine. So during WW2 they begin to move jews there and in 1948 it became a state.
A single mostly foreign ethnic group at that. Even worse one whose minority had been acting like elitist snobs since they immigrated to the region in the 1880's
That was done after World War One.
This one's gonna be a doozy
Herzl was born in Pest, Kingdom of Hungary to a prosperous Neolog Jewish family.
After a brief legal career in Vienna, he became the Paris correspondent for the Viennese newspaper Neue Freie Presse.
Well, this is timely.
It's interesting that you explained the etymology of Netanyahu, but not Ben-Zion, which is arguably just as important. Bibi's father's full name translates to "Son of Zion, Sent from God".
Started sharing this link. You should be getting a lot more views soon!
10:03 Yo! Theodore Herzl wasn't French! he was a German-speaking Jewish Austro-Hungarian man from the city of Pest working as a journalist in france around the time of the Dreyfuss Affair! He was famously a German nationalist in his early years, too, until virulent anti-semitism within a lot of nationalist groups pushed him away from it.
A true bastard.
Is the izl the same as Irgun? At 56:40 she starts to say Irgun gang then checks herself. What's up?
Wow just wow
Worth pointing out- the arab nations didn't just arbitrarily decide to declare war on Israel as doon as the brits ended the mandate. A big motivation is they wanted to stop what is now recognized as an ethnic cleansing that had already been going on from a month.
Good day to listen to this I guess
This podcast is Chomsky approved 😊
That's not much of a recommendation, considering that he's shilling for Putin now too.
Herzl was from the Austrian Empire by the way.
Agreed. He was a correspondent for a newspaper in Vienna and they sent him to Paris for a while, which is why he was there for the Dreyfus Affair.
Hey yall don't forget to drink some water.
Can't. I'm trapped in Gaza.
Be like Spain. Be like Ireland. Be like Norway.
evergreen episode 🤬😑
:(
Good on yt for recommending this to me after the war started, I see what you did there 😏
I'm an atheist/agnostic sorta person who's deeply skeptical of religion but as religions go, judaism's pretty compelling, I think it might be my first choice if I went religious. I absolutely respect the right of Israel to exist, but I have long hated the hypocrisy, violence, and self-centeredness of Israel as a country. Palestine deserves peace. End the violence!
the right of isreal to exist where exactly? On stolen palastinian land?
Criticizing isreal and saying it shouldn't exist is not the same thing as criticizing judaism
What does Israel existing have to do with Judaism? The place Jewish people had the most problems historically has always been Europe. Somehow it is projected onto the middle east and Palestine where Jews and Muslims were already living peacefully together until apartheid.
Israel has no right to exist anywhere but Germany
there is a lot of good information in this episode yet lots of information still missing. Biased reporting doesn’t help Palestinian or Israelis find peace.
aside the problem with the colonizing asides, thats bad, theughanda plan was a way better and lading toa lessetremist idology , would have been great. .. i mean the colonizing issues aside. I understand nationalist and even extreme at side movements, but fundamentalimand pointl purity ,... movements, like ukrain, thats good nationalism on their part, but extremist is, yeah ughanda plan was wyy ore pragmatic, and better, coloniizing aside
Ohhh boy, gonna do a drinking game with this one and see how long it takes before I pass out. See how far it goes before we get into blood libel or "IDF RACIST BECAUSE NOT ENOUGH RAPE" territory
Wut
The IDF is racist because it's a bunch of whites trying to steal indigenous land and commit ethnically motivated murder.
Could you elaborate
@@Lifelover992011 a paper came out a couple of years ago claiming that the IDF is racist because the prevalence of rape and sexual assault against the palestinian population is lower than in other regions.
