This is not an exploit. It's using an intended mechanic with efficiency. If Rare doesn't allow it on official spaces then this mechanic shouldn't exist. Or at least have a limit to be reused only once.

The reason the pirate’s life tall tales are listed first and in the main menu (front and centre) is most likely for people who only bought SOT to experience those adventures as fans of the PoTC. That’s also likely why all the tall tale books for a pirates life are organised together rather than spread across the map, so that those fans can jump straight into the adventure without having to deal with the challenges of sailing the seas.
Guessing it’s somewhere in the Disney contract that they have to be out front and center. Pirates life content is the most developed quality content too, put your best foot forward after all.
Yeah it's very noticeable that they were more experienced when the pirate's life was cooked up

@@nicolasoliveira4903 Mildly agree, it’s super annoying to get attacked when your doing a tale tale. The enemy gains nothing since you don’t have loot, just story items, and it sucks for you since you have to basically restart.
Yeah, it’s much better designed than Shores of Gold too. Shores is incredibly cryptic at almost every step. Pirates Life keeps giving you hints and visual cues so it’s much easier to just move through it and enjoy it. Shores of Gold has some great ideas but the whole thing is implemented in pretty much the worst ways. 😂
I think they should add another layer to the tall tale menu. letting you select one of 3 options (4 when money island comes). Shores of Gold, what ever you wanna call seabound soul and heart of fire together, A pirates life, then 4th will be monkey island. This means a pirates life will still be shown on the front page to keep disney happy but we can put it in chronological order

Back when checkpoints weren't a thing. My old crew and I discovered that you could spawn multiple copies of the medallions at Trubute's Peak and that starting the fight with the Hoarder will teleport you to the room even if you died while away on your ship. So we kept the ship close to Morrow's Peak while one of us gathered medallions, cleared the fight, teleporter back to the ship, restarted the tale, rinse repeat.
I am glad you made this video. Sigy's Twitch chat got him to do a tall tale and he did Pirate's Life 1 and surprisingly had a good time with it, and I said the almost exact advice you gave here in terms of completion. If you want Pirate's Life to be more effective from a storytelling perspective, you should definitely do all the other tall tales first!

Started playing march 5th this year, I can confirm, I done everything for A Pirate's Life (as it's first in the list) and I haven't heard of the shores of gold yet

There are hard and soft checkpoints in the tall tales. Soft checkpoints give you a respawn location, hard checkpoints are named and can be saved for later. Hard checkpoints also come with an in game notification that you reached it.
When I did all the Tall Tales Chronologically at the very beginning, I also felt it was better to complete Shores of Gold 100% and then to complete Seabound and Heart of Fire as a second step.
Then to Ending with the Jack Sparrows Tall Tale.
I did it all by myself Without that chekpoint trick. and I have no regrets, so Monkey Island can coming !

I was made aware by my friend who was playing sot before the disney that I was doing the order of the tall tales wrong, so we got 2 of the curses as a galleon crew but I was not aware you can save the last chapter and save time.
Having to do the same missing 5 times is such a awful mechanic to unlock stuff, like why...
Successfully making it a very difficult commendation. Getting the gold curse wouldn't be so special if everyone had it from one session of sea of thieves

I recently got SOT and just decided to do all of the tall tales starting with pirates life 🤷♀️
What I think is that the main menu should show and allow the player to start at locations wherever they may be through the tall tales. Rather than selecting pirates' life from the get go.
For example, if you have began the Shores of Gold, you'd see the Shores of Gold option on the menu and once you select that, you'll spawn in the tavern and Seabound Soul, Daggertooth (which is closest to Shipwreck Bay).
We always did it in this fashion. Our new crewmate wanted to do the pirates life but I told him. "If you want to do that, we better start from SoG then Seabound Soul."
Ive done the tall tales over a dozen times each one... I absolutely love the adventure and its great gold in the end! Some my friends enjoyed the help to getting there 5x each tale as well! :D
I mixed them up when I introduced 3 friends to the game. New players will barely care about the lore and the characters at first. Pirate's Life 1 is literally isolated, no grievers to intervene when trying to figure out the controls and game mechanics. Seabound Soul as an introduction to the current main antagonist, big early impression. Mixing in spanish forts and their first emmisary missions. By Shores of Gold, all my friend became pirate legend.
All TallTales are enjoyable, if you don't find the books in the same session. My friends don't even know yet that they have to go to Old Faithful for "Revenge of the Morning Star".
Is this double account shortcut doable as a solo player?
If I remember well I had to finish the PoTC to access the shores of gold (maybe not the 1st but the rest of it) which isn't great cause like you say timeline wise it's not what you want especially since Shores of Gold is an original and the heart of the license
Oh and I've completed the monkey island one but the end cosmetic for the lair of lechuck is locked and I've completed everything why is that how do I fix it

That's one of the ways, you can always ask another player to provide you with one. Many pirates have them now
I’ve been playing the game for a while now and feel dumb about not knowing how the check points worked. I’ve been working on my gold curse on and off for 6 months..doing them 5 time gets quite tedious. I have 1-3 completed in there entirety.

Rather silly that they are, especially since most have major lore importance and seem to be typically the size of one Chapter in a tall tale. And I kind of miss the Voodoo Dolls at Sea Forts.

There should be like a Ghost mode for doing Tall Tales. There's nothing more annoying than going for it and some random dude comes to sink ye ship. Nothing aboard, no treasure no FOTD or FOF or world event or emissary contract

My friends and i figured out the abuseing checkpoint and we wounnd up doing all the tall tales twice so we all could get the completetions.
When I try this, the other person in the crew does not get the final checkpoint when I put it down on the quest board. We have tried relogging and everything.
Quest board ? Or you mean Voyage Table, you have to do it twice, first drop it on table, second vote for it.
If you're talking about giving them the ability to vote for the checkpoint them selves, that's not possible unless they complete that part of the TT them selves

I absolutely hated that one it took absolutely forever 😭. The end was cool though. My favorite tall tales are seabound soul, heart of fire, and fate of the morningstar.

Yeah, having Pirate's Life before Shores of Gold is a serious miscalculation on their part. They should be listed in chronological order in the menu.

i don’t understand how you use an alt account to do this when the alt account is fresh it has no tall tales unlocked and playing through them all again just to do this isn’t even saving time at that point

Ok so I fairly regularly walk crews through gold curse in around 4 hours end-to-end. The absolute best way is to have a galleon (crew receiving checkpoints) and tow a sloop (person giving checkpoints) in an alliance. You can then drop the checkpoints to the galleon without logging out. Be sure to drop whatever tall tale is relevant for nearby journals as you do a lap of the map. For fate of the Morningstar you can keep one guy in the ferry to kickoff the cutscene to save repeatedly going to the Ferry. For shores of gold whoever makes it through the labrynth first, everyone else logs out while they enter the GH room then rejoin to give you a 1 minute battle.

No it's ok, just go for Shores of Gold series, then Ashen Age, and finally Pirates Life.

This is the checkpoint cheesing exploit. I thought this wasn't allowed? They don't even let you ask for checkpoints on the official spaces.
I'm surprised Rare doesn't allow this in the official Sea of Thieves discord, they added a mechanic that they don't want people to use efficiently. A Tall Tale doesn't need to be done more than once, it's like watching a movie. Once is enough, anything beyond that is optional.

Doing shores of gold tales 5 times is tedious and painful af. They had enough feedback about it and acted on it for Seabound Soul onwards. Sure if they had it as 3 times it wouldn't be as bad but 5 doing the same thing repeatedly is just wasting the players time for little reward.

Personally I am not a fan of this method as it to me sucks joy in the grind out of doing it which to me is a bad thing since that moment once I did all 45 and got my curse I had felt so much joy its was something I could never give justice explaining that I had spent over 70ish hours working trying to get my curse and finally I achieved it. I understand that there might be people who don't have the time to get it but to me it was worth it just for that gaming moment. Again Phuzzy no hate at all I just wanted to give my own reason on to why I personally am not a fan of this mechanic

I done all the tall tales 5 times all the way through, plus the extra ones, mostly solo. I didn't want to use the checkpoint ('exploit'). It would have cheapened the reward and sense of achievement. I will remember those days fondly as I edged closer and finally completed it and I still wear my gold curse with pride. People always want a shortcut with the lease effort. Those who just reloaded checkpoints have not really and truly earned the curse in my opinion.
For somebody that got into this game because of the Pirate's life tall tales, I strongly disagree. And I could not care less about being 'spoiled'. There is so many other things Rare could work on before even giving this 'problem' any kind of thought. This is a video game - in a sand box multiplayer game - there will sadly be spoilers.
