Number ONE combat tip. STAY CALM AND DO NOT PANIC. When i was a swabby i would immediately lose my cool, get frustrated, and play right into my opponents hands. The boarders main objective is to drop ur anchor. So you absolutely need to guard it against any enemies. The boarder will "run the route" on ur ship. This means they will run below deck back to top deck back below and so on. Do not chase the boarder! When you are chasing you are at the disadvantage as the boarder is controlling your movement. On a sloop if you are unable to stop the boarding process, sit back and let the boarder run all over your deck. Guard your anchor and he will have to attempt to get by you. This will give you an opportunity to get a shot in with your firearm then finish with sword. I understand theres a lot of nuances and circumstances i didnt address and im unwilling to detail them all. However, at this point i have 40 days in game and i have fought and lost many battles to learn what ive learned. Ignore my number one rule at your own peril.

So Jon, as an experienced player there is a way to force spawn a megalodon, after doing fort of the dammed, whether its 1 or 100, after exiting the islands borders and enter the open sea a megalodon will spawn, I have had this happen every time. There is also another way to force spawn a megalodon by simply sitting in the shores of gold for 30 minutes, and after waiting sail back to the open sea and a megalodon will spawn. Having the meg spawn at random is a whole lot less time consuming and less dangerous
That all revolves around travel time and the emergent threat timer, not the environment you're in. As long as you're in open sea (not in range of an island's title card) you have a shot at the spawn.
@@JonBardcore It seemed like the last time I was playing, whenever I played the "Summon the Megaladon" shanty while sailing, within moments, one would show up and try to sink me.

The one thing I wish I knew before I started playing is not to waste time stockpiling supplies you may come across while exploring the various islands. Spent a couple of hours one day just going around collecting food/wood/cannon ammo/etc and stocking piling it on my ship. Only to learn that I lose ALL of it once I log out and start off with the default amount of basic resources the next time I logged back in. If you are planning on fighting a lot of other ships, then it doesn't hurt to have the extra supplies, but if you are just sailing around solo, there isn't much point in gathering extra supplies because you are just going to lose it all the next time you log back in. I get that it's for balancing purposes...but it kinda makes it feel a little less rewarding to spend a fair amount of time sailing around and gathering resources only to just lose it all when you log out. (I mean, I can see losing it all if your ship was sunk or you purposely scuttled it)...but it sucks that you lose it all just by logging out.

I get theres a lot of non toxic players in this game, but i haven't found anyone nice in this game 😔 i come to the game to have a good time, not to rage i just wish experienced players would cut solo sloops some slack and give them a chance
Solo galleon was fun year1 when krakens didnt have the slap ability and megs and skeleton ships didnt exist. now you just get destroyed so since the game scales to ship sloops definitly the best choice for solo sadly. I miss playing on the galleon. I just loved the size while it was a bit clunky to helm. I would say if you are someone who cares about FOMO but are new to the game.... decide if you even want to play in the 1st place considering you missed 6 years of fomo already getting supplies is a good idea however with the long overdue increase of starting supplies that came with season8 and storage crates on islands I generally dont bother stocking up any more. I found in the past the thing i hated most about sinking was losing my supplies. Since they are so easy to get its nice to not feel set back so much when sinking now. also the tip about getting supplies from the final chapter of pirates life..... this isnt a new player tip unless those tall tales are the first thing they do when playing the game which i would also highly recommend AGAINST because there are milestones for that content. The main goal should be do some forts, buy a sloop so you can start progressing captaincy asap
First time playing the game after a long hiatus. Used to play on PC now on PS. Created a new account, finished the tutorial. Started up open crew. Got matched up with a random. Soon as the game loads he said “Safer seas. Dopey” then quit. Yeah, but I can’t sail as a merchant emmissary in safer seas, dopey. First impression of open crew: bad. Sweaty tryhards most likely looking to sink the first ship they see outside of their own.

Is it possible to start a new game with a full crew of friends or do we all need to get to a certain point? Also, how is loot shared when playing with friends or is it not?
You share loot if you are in the same crew. If you're in an alliance and you aren't the crew who sells the loot, you get the same gold, but rep is decreased i think.
Everyone receives full loot amounts. You can start a game with a full crew of four but you can't start a game with a sloop and upgrade to a galleon within the same session.
2:50 I solo a captain’s galleon, I usually have reaper 5 on it in high seas. It goes roughly 3 hours before it gets sunk (usually) and I get a lot done with it. It will inevitably sink when I forget to check my bottom deck tho but it ain’t so bad because I get to sell my reaper flag

Just want to put a word of warning out to all you captains out there, if somebody by the name of Greasepolice joins your crew immediately boot them to the brig or kick them from your crew, I've been in a crew with them twice and after they joined, they would immediately B-line it to the fire bombs and destroy my ship, so just be careful when choosing open crew

It's based on time, not location. So spend enough time anywhere then head out to open sea and something willl spawn.
Day 1 player, today, after we fought 1 boss , stack carry treasure to ship, hopping to cash in at outpost, somehow capsize by a megaladdon , how my friends and i felt frustrated ,
Ooof, totally feel that. I've been flipped by a meg once or twice. Never feels good.
i dont have a mic unfortunately, never have. and i was going to sell my loot with no player activity the whole time until i saw someone 10 feet behind me and he said "if you dont got a mic, we aren't talking" and they proceeded to sink my ship. i just took it. i suck at combat and im solo so i didn't even try. i knew i would lose.
I get theres a lot of non toxic players in this game, but i haven't found anyone nice in this game 😔
i come to the game to have a good time, not to rage
i just wish experienced players would cut solo sloops some slack and give them a chance
Sorry that you lost your loot. Is it a personal choice to not use a mic?
im going to use those thumbnail tips thanks Jon!
Literally thought of your question when I wrote that one in the script!
I would say if you are someone who cares about FOMO but are new to the game.... decide if you even want to play in the 1st place considering you missed 6 years of fomo already
getting supplies is a good idea however with the long overdue increase of starting supplies that came with season8 and storage crates on islands I generally dont bother stocking up any more.
Oh you're right about those tall tale milestones, totally forgot about that!
If I start a game on safer seas mode is it possible to move that character later to the pvp server?
Of course
Yes!
ALWAYS put kegs on your ship!
You're the troublemaker of your crew aren't you? 🤣
@@JonBardcore He's also the one that burns the food and sets the ship on fire, even if on accident.
I got lock in the brig for burning snake meat
I remember when i first started the game, I used to solo galleons because i thought they looked cooler.
Hahahahaha, the agony
What are your keybinds on controller? @Jon Bardcore
I don't really custom my keybinds!
My second day playing within 2 minutes of getting on and no loot on the ship. Boom kraken. I was so scared but we managed to escape.
Nice! How have you fared since?
Super excited to play this on PlayStation, What is the best discount ever for this game on Xbox? A game that is just fun with friends is a bit difficult to Convince everyone to spend +30€.
What is the limit players on the same party?
I got it with xbox game pass ultimate but you can have up to 4 per ship
$20 USD is usually the cheapest it goes for. Four to a ship!
Well done! I could see the new PS5 bois using this to help them get a grasp on the game! 👍
Hope so!
You forgot one tip. Sharks Are Cool :)
Oh yea thanks, ima add on to this tip and say that you should kill every shark you see and cook it because it gives over heal and if you don’t eat the shark you can still sell it
Damn, knew I forgot one. Thanks Duno!
You know what, totally agree.
Losing that eyepatch and eye of reach would hurt.
It did. 😭
Was getting chased by a galleon and I was a solo sloop I let them into a storm and ran away
Nice moves! It's way harder for a galleon to navigate the storm versus the sloop. GG!
First! Love it ❤ just to flex, i have the patch and the eor 😁 i feel your pain
Regrets.. I have a few....
Open crew is great. Just make sure you have a mic.
Mics definitely make an impact for gameplay in Sea Of Thieves 💯
15:53 you can also puke in a bucket so you can throw at them
Absolutely true!
how can i change my pirates name? would love to make up a name befitting a pirate of legend or possibly the legend of how badly you can attempt to be a pirate either way a name change would be amazing any thoughts ?
Name change? Like your gamertag? You'd have to go to the xbox website and pay for a change.
I can guess the island from a vault map from less than half of the island usually. havent gotten one worng in like almost a year
This pirate plays.
Tell me why I got “the storm” all 4 times I’ve played this game so far
THE STORM KNOWS
Maybe it’s just my graphics but I have no trouble seeing ships without lanterns from the other side of the world
Bro has that 6090 graphics card.
@@JonBardcore then its a skill issue
@@AmbroseBoaBowie gamer words
It will inevitably sink when I forget to check my bottom deck tho but it ain’t so bad because I get to sell my reaper flag
playing solo gally is fucking dumb dont do that
@@Yasin52. obviously you’ve never met me (best solo gally captain)
Why solo galleon?
@@JonBardcore to struggle
Use fire works in sea combat. Trust me 😎

Great vid
Thanks Wolf, glad you enjoyed!
The lanterns are for each of the lights when you die
Yes, but I still don't recommend keeping them on.
@@JonBardcore don’t have too you can shut them off and they will still keep the flame from each death
Zangief, you are Bad Guy, but this does not mean you are bad guy.
Nobody is bad guy. We are all pirates!
I don’t have my launch crew eye of reach but I played the beta 😢
RIP, ggs.
thanks jon i need to get back to SOT anyway
You're welcome! And welcome back to the seas!
Hey can you help me I’m on pc sea of thieves I have a mic that works it’s just I can’t hear people 90% of the time so I just don’t use it. I can always hear other crews just nit my own crews so can you help?
Make sure to double check your privacy permissions through your XBOX account on the XBOX website. Sometimes it prevents others from hearing you and vice/versa
One question, if you are in a Guild, do you have to reach Guild level 15 to sell to Sovereigns?
You just need a Captained boat to sell at Sovereigns. Guild Lvl 15 gives you access to the guild Emissary
@@JonBardcore so i take any Emissary and i can sell to Sovereigns with the bonus or no bonus then?
Yep!
I do not get what the problem is with buying a appearance change potion if needed ($2). This is less than a cheeseburger, isn't it?
For some people it's a matter of principle.
When i started playing i played as a solo galleon, i did really well, nobody fought me because i was a big ship, had they fought me though i would have been Mega Screwed
And two months later how are you doing?
@@JonBardcore great lol. You?
Missed Rule: Don't sail with the Ashen fart skin, you will look like a glowstick at night for others :)
There are so many cosmetics that do that it's insane!
Not all open crews are good open crews, very true
I didn’t care what character i chose but Luckily im happy with what i chose
GGs! Well played!
Who ever did the subtitles don't know what a kraken is...
Silly AI.
I haven’t played sea of thieves in months we’ll haven’t played properly in months the only time I do log on is to see if I’ve finally gotten the shrouded ghost figure head I killed the dam thing months ago and I’ve only gotten the ship decoration and title.
How about nowadays?
@@JonBardcore my friend got me back into sea of thieves a couple of weeks ago, and im really hapy he did. As for that figure head well i still dont have the dam thing 😂
