I used to think that open crew was stupid until I met this guy who has been amazing. I have stacked over 40 fotds with him and leveled up my pvp faction incredibly. Use open crew!
That is very likely a 1/1000 chances. Usually you get someone completely new to the game that doesn´t know what to do or what happens.
Hey, you found a diamond in the rough. GG!
Like him... He has no clue that's why he is saying that 😂 ..... Or he wants to deceive 🤔
I used open crew a lot during 2018 I use it less now guys leave join leave join
just started playing, i opened crewed late on the au server. this girl showed me the ropes and we did some gold hoursers emissary stuffs. you just need onr person who sticks too make all the difference
I feel as though deleting pirate shouldn't delete event items that we're earned through limited time. I did the same thing as you. In which I deleted my pirate, and didn't know the outcome. I lost my launch gear too :(. Very informative video!
It still hurts to this day ; _ ;
Appreciate the support!
i deleted my pirate and emailed them and they gave me my day 1 patch back
Yeah bro, lost my day one patch because of that
Submit a Ticket to Rare Support... i did that... delete my OG pirate for a new one and i asked to get my Launch Crew Eye of Reach and got Day 1 eye patch!
These are awesome tips, just about to start my journey on ps5 so the info on all these features is a big help.
So Jon, as an experienced player there is a way to force spawn a megalodon, after doing fort of the dammed, whether its 1 or 100, after exiting the islands borders and enter the open sea a megalodon will spawn, I have had this happen every time. There is also another way to force spawn a megalodon by simply sitting in the shores of gold for 30 minutes, and after waiting sail back to the open sea and a megalodon will spawn. Having the meg spawn at random is a whole lot less time consuming and less dangerous
That all revolves around travel time and the emergent threat timer, not the environment you're in. As long as you're in open sea (not in range of an island's title card) you have a shot at the spawn.
Last tip is the best ever!
As a PL, I agree with your advice. Deciding on what appeals to you early on helps to focus. No harm in doing whatever takes your fancy but there is a lot of content these days.
Also, putting gunpowder in the crows nest is an old habit for many, before the mast was able to be downed. It kinda makes sense for newer players but yeah, don't do it! Bowsprit is best. Good video, Jon 👍
Thanks for the video!
I’m just getting into sea of thieves this helped so much thank you
You're so welcome!
Hey if you grab fireworks some of them will scare or summon wildlife and can draw nearby skeleton ships to your location in a pinch. I JUST used one to set fire to a galleon and rope a skele sloop into a fight with them too
The PL Hideout trick doesn't just work for Stormfish. If there's a Skeleton Fleet, you can get Battlegills.
Yep! It's such a fun thing to just hang back in the hideout and fish peacefully. :D
i think it would be cool if weather or not you have your lanterns lit are remembered on captained ships similar to how how they handle rowboats now
Number ONE combat tip. STAY CALM AND DO NOT PANIC. When i was a swabby i would immediately lose my cool, get frustrated, and play right into my opponents hands. The boarders main objective is to drop ur anchor. So you absolutely need to guard it against any enemies. The boarder will "run the route" on ur ship. This means they will run below deck back to top deck back below and so on. Do not chase the boarder! When you are chasing you are at the disadvantage as the boarder is controlling your movement. On a sloop if you are unable to stop the boarding process, sit back and let the boarder run all over your deck. Guard your anchor and he will have to attempt to get by you. This will give you an opportunity to get a shot in with your firearm then finish with sword. I understand theres a lot of nuances and circumstances i didnt address and im unwilling to detail them all. However, at this point i have 40 days in game and i have fought and lost many battles to learn what ive learned. Ignore my number one rule at your own peril.
DONT PANIC
Insane video. I learned a lot from being a player that started in 2019😂 thanks for all these helpful tips !
skeleton ships will often spawn directly on you, well, ive seen it often in safer seas, i dunno if its like that on open though. Maybe they did it to compensate for the lack of other ppl trying to sink you
im going to use those thumbnail tips thanks Jon!
Literally thought of your question when I wrote that one in the script!
I dream of being able to make transitions this smooth wtf
Great Video, Jon!
I picked up the game super quick thanks to the great content creators in the community and now it's one of my favorite games!
Still gotta do the tall tales though
Great to hear! Definitely got to get on those Tall Tales though. 😁
For me I am trying to sail directly into storms to lose people and on top of that trying to get a trophy on PlayStation 5. You have to sail through a storm with all lights off on your ship at night. It’s buggy.
Named my first ever ship Roselucks
I’m so glad I spent an hour or so in the character picker, I really like the look of him and probably will never have to change.
That's great. Yeah, when you know, you know!
@Jon Bardcore first time poster here - I like your style! Rare should issue you your eyepatch and EoR from year 1.
Sub/Like incoming :D
Hey, welcome aboard! Really appreciate the love. And maybe one day I'll work up the courage to ask SoT Support if they could do me a favor lol.
Dude just do it now! You only going to get 1 good answer and waiting won't change anything, just get it over with because if they do say yes, you will have more time spend enjoying those cosmetics, and if they say no, well... at least you tried.@@JonBardcore
I can assure you, the Brig is faster than the sloop against the wind. Not only their video proving this. But from countless hours of experience, if you know what you’re doing on the brig, and how to manage sales properly. You can absolutely catch up to the sloop against the wind.
Solo galleon was fun year1 when krakens didnt have the slap ability and megs and skeleton ships didnt exist. now you just get destroyed so since the game scales to ship sloops definitly the best choice for solo sadly.
I miss playing on the galleon. I just loved the size while it was a bit clunky to helm.
I would say if you are someone who cares about FOMO but are new to the game.... decide if you even want to play in the 1st place considering you missed 6 years of fomo already
getting supplies is a good idea however with the long overdue increase of starting supplies that came with season8 and storage crates on islands I generally dont bother stocking up any more. I found in the past the thing i hated most about sinking was losing my supplies. Since they are so easy to get its nice to not feel set back so much when sinking now. also the tip about getting supplies from the final chapter of pirates life..... this isnt a new player tip unless those tall tales are the first thing they do when playing the game which i would also highly recommend AGAINST because there are milestones for that content. The main goal should be do some forts, buy a sloop so you can start progressing captaincy asap
Oh you're right about those tall tale milestones, totally forgot about that!
I'm trying to decide if I want to buy the game.
After watching this I do believe I will be making the purchase 😊
Good video Jon :)
Cheers Snans! Hope you got at least one new trick from this!
ALWAYS put kegs on your ship!
You're the troublemaker of your crew aren't you? 🤣
@@JonBardcore He's also the one that burns the food and sets the ship on fire, even if on accident.
I got lock in the brig for burning snake meat
Well done! I could see the new PS5 bois using this to help them get a grasp on the game! 👍
Is it possible to start a new game with a full crew of friends or do we all need to get to a certain point? Also, how is loot shared when playing with friends or is it not?
Rare: heres your ship
New Player; and what now?
Rare: find out 🤷♂️
2:50 I solo a captain’s galleon, I usually have reaper 5 on it in high seas. It goes roughly 3 hours before it gets sunk (usually) and I get a lot done with it. It will inevitably sink when I forget to check my bottom deck tho but it ain’t so bad because I get to sell my reaper flag
playing solo gally is fucking dumb dont do that
@@Yasin52. obviously you’ve never met me (best solo gally captain)
I can guess the island from a vault map from less than half of the island usually. havent gotten one worng in like almost a year
Great vid
Thanks Wolf, glad you enjoyed!
I always find Megs when it’s the worst time like when I’m fighting a ship or if 2 Skelton ships and another person are fighting me
And it's never THE ONE
getting caught in a storm was a lot of fun hahah
My second day playing within 2 minutes of getting on and no loot on the ship. Boom kraken. I was so scared but we managed to escape.
The advice about the lanterns is great and all but if you just turn up the gamma for your screen it makes the ships at night just as visible. If i see you with your lanterns off it tells me you're actively trying to hire and im definitely more likely to approach you now.
Lanterns on= you're new or good enough at pvp that you're not scared.
Lanterns off= you got loot and you're trying to hide.
@@jonathancantu7700 what about rainbow lanterns
Aye thanks m8! I just got into the game and played a couple of runs and felt like a total moron in High seas, players were avoiding me :'( but i will get better and pwn ass as I always do. Sea you fare!
We hiding some bad advice in here so we have an advantage with this one 🔥🔥🔥
Ahh I’m glad I didn’t watch any videos I’m ngl. Some solid tips here for certain things like the deleting pirate but learning everything myself or having stupid theories for why we got krakened on our first day (and subsequently not going back to krakens fall for weeks😂) made the experience so fun and has kept me playing for more than 2 years.
Finally I have done it my first ashen chest of legends it only took 3 HOURS
Thats how it is with this game enjoy the grind matey!
Can't wait to play this in PlayStation 😏
Super excited to play this on PlayStation, What is the best discount ever for this game on Xbox? A game that is just fun with friends is a bit difficult to Convince everyone to spend +30€.
What is the limit players on the same party?
I got it with xbox game pass ultimate but you can have up to 4 per ship
thank you
You're welcome!
I haven’t played sea of thieves in months we’ll haven’t played properly in months the only time I do log on is to see if I’ve finally gotten the shrouded ghost figure head I killed the dam thing months ago and I’ve only gotten the ship decoration and title.
If I start a game on safer seas mode is it possible to move that character later to the pvp server?
Of course
First! Love it ❤ just to flex, i have the patch and the eor 😁 i feel your pain
Regrets.. I have a few....
just wondering when u setup a closed crew for ur ship can u invite just ur friends or can u invite some good friendly ppl to ur ship, just being curious that’s all of course ok !?!
You can absolutely invite others to your ship after you select closed crew. Just remember that you are limited in invites to the size of your current ship
@@JonBardcore I was just checking out of curiosity of course and I know I wanna be able to have ppl that are friendly and helpful which’ll be reassuring to since I’m autistic
@@roronoazoro99 It's possible for friends to hop in to your closed crew if there is a free spot, though you are more likely to see that when using a guild ship, which comes with the guild crew option so guildmates you might not have had the chance to add as a friend, or that a friend wants to introduce to you can enter as well.
@@truekurayami sadly I don’t have anyone that could join that I know and I am in a one man guild that I made but if I did have ppl join my guild it would be ppl that are friendly and helpful but it depends on wat time zone ppl are in and when I jump on sea of thieves
You can add your friends to your ship. But, remember this: There are NO friendly ships on the seas. Every single one wants to sink you. Nearly the entire SoT community is toxic AF.
Maybe it’s just my graphics but I have no trouble seeing ships without lanterns from the other side of the world
thanks jon i need to get back to SOT anyway
You're welcome! And welcome back to the seas!
I get Meg'd 9 out of 10 times when leaving Shores of Gold and sailing towards Galleon's Grave
That's because of the time you've spent at the Shores of Gold, doing the tall tale or just being there. Trust me, location doesn't matter.
@@JonBardcore makes sense. It's where I grinded my treacherous plunder commendation
Oh, for sure. Best spot by far.
Losing that eyepatch and eye of reach would hurt.
I remember taking my time for like and hour 😅😂 thanks for the tips I'm trying to get my non gamer girlfriend to try SOT hope it goes well. This be good for her
You got this! Hoping for the best!
HI! i'm a non gamer gf and i love it, tell her that is not that bad, she'll have fun.
i chose my character based on what instrument he was holding and regret it to this day
What are your keybinds on controller? @Jon Bardcore
Hey i lost that sniper too and i emailed them and got it back
you could easly get 150 aincent coins through rewards and ancient skeletons
If you're lucky enough to get l an ancient skelly spawn, absolutely. Otherwise, yeah you'll need to grind out some season levels or better yet, use Microsoft Rewards and convert points into ancient coin
One question, if you are in a Guild, do you have to reach Guild level 15 to sell to Sovereigns?
You just need a Captained boat to sell at Sovereigns. Guild Lvl 15 gives you access to the guild Emissary
@@JonBardcore so i take any Emissary and i can sell to Sovereigns with the bonus or no bonus then?
Yep!
Rare underpants gnome reference??
But I love fireworks. How can I ignore that. I set them off every time and I’ll be honest it’s gotten me outta more fights then in.
So this game recently got announced on ps5 Is it worth preordering it?
Yes, amazing game
The game really shines with other people, it can be rough on your own.
Was getting chased by a galleon and I was a solo sloop I let them into a storm and ran away
Nice moves! It's way harder for a galleon to navigate the storm versus the sloop. GG!
Use fire works in sea combat. Trust me 😎
Source: Trust Me Bro
I think I have that day one eyepatch, I've always had it but never knew what it was
You forgot the most important rule, Jon.
"No Damage, Didn't count."
Totally right, how silly of me! #43
I started playing yesterday on my ps5 for the first time since launch back in 2018. I barely do remember how to sail and that´s it. We played almost the whole day not having fun. First we got killed over and over by other players who waited on our ship for us to respawn and kill us again until we left the server and than the infrastructure of the game overwhelmed us, when we tried to play on a Solo Server. Then we tried to play a Tale Tale and got stuck over and over with the weird riddles.
I watch this video now with the hope of some inspiration and direction how and why to play this game at all. Otherwise I will go back to HEeldivers and never touch this again. It seems like this is a game where you have to play at least 3 hour session to accomplish anything because you can´t save any progress in the middle of a Tale Tale or even interesting Quests you find a gone when you come back later. It´s horrible outdated game design.
For supplies, Captains of the Damned is another great spot to get started, just progress far enough that you are at the town for the check point and don't go into the jail. You will get basically everything but curse balls that you can get with Dark Brethren, and a place to do some fishing to further increase your high quality food without any worry of PvP interrupting you.
What are the fish you can catch? Just Splashtails right?
@@JonBardcore ya just splashtails, with the "Pirate's Life" Tall Tales, only the first one has a spot that can let you catch something else namely pondies, but those two does give you the safety of a faux Safer Seas environment to help get you stocked up
Pretty sure there are meg spawn locations
You forgot one tip. Sharks Are Cool :)
Oh yea thanks, ima add on to this tip and say that you should kill every shark you see and cook it because it gives over heal and if you don’t eat the shark you can still sell it
Damn, knew I forgot one. Thanks Duno!
You know what, totally agree.
5 Blunder bombs to destroy row boat at Reapers😅
Pretty sure you can do it in four but five certainly doesn't hurt!
The fact i got legend pirate without even knowing what the game lore is about and by doing only 3 quests and mostl stealing others players loot shows that you don't rlly need any guide for the game lol
No, no you didn’t.
I’m allergic to grass I break out 😢
No way I would delete my char and lose day 1 stuff, that sucks man
42 tips
Right back at ya, Meme!
Missed Rule: Don't sail with the Ashen fart skin, you will look like a glowstick at night for others :)
There are so many cosmetics that do that it's insane!
Why i was never have a bit of thoughts of vomit strat?
🤣🤢🤮
Games that FORCE a tutorial erk me
Literally no one talks about alliance
Ignore fireworks when stocking up? 🤨
But then how will I be able to fire them when I see nearby ships!?!
😛
I've accidentally grabbed one two many fireworks instead of cannon in the heat of battle to keep them on my ship. 😂
If you'd usually keep them in your ship's barrels with the rest of your cannonballs and such, instead storing them in a fireworks crate/storage crate next to your barrel might help negate that somewhat, perhaps?
Use voice chat? What for?
The other day i was on a beach; si used voice and typed chat to tell some sloup I had no treasure and just hunting pigs. It was 2 players on a sloop, they shot my mast and ran down on me to kill me.
That can happen, for sure. But communication is better than no communication in general, I'd argue.
I think it would be idiotic not to have the lanterns on by default. It shows what players want PvP or aren’t experienced. Sounds like you have a different opinion that tbh I don’t understand why you’d dislike it when it’s one the best parts of the game
I dislike it *because* it exposes inexperienced players. If it's lights for PVP, let players opt-in. Otherwise, many may not understand opt-out
Pog
Pog!
all about immersion ? excuse me?
It's real-time travel between islands. With nothing but the sound of the waves against hull. Pretty immersive I'd say.
no way you deleted your pirate, you can just get free ancient coins from the free plunder pass every season...
This was back in Year One, waaaaay before Seasons were a thing sadly.
i cant ever touch grass is dangures

i turn my lanterns off at the start of a session. then after 24 hours of running 2 pcs in an alliance with anti afk macros the server gets locked to where no new ships can join. i then turn on my lanterns and enjoy full progression "single player" sea of thieves. basically my version of safer seas i have been playing for 4 years now. The alliance system has been godly for preventing you from being merged to a new server. ironically hourglass defense also cant be invaded because no new ships can join server so you can pve all you want. once your hourglass reaches grade5 treasure value you can hand it in for the equivalent of 1 win. so on bonus weekends thats 2.5 wins per FoTD. its slow as hell hourglass leveling but hey youre not ruining anyone elses day by running hacks and no one else is ruining your day with their hacks.... you cant get streak bonuses so its a rough way to level but hey it works....
I thought I read somewhere that SoT servers reset after 48 hours. That seems to be a lot of trouble to go through in order to get PvE. Why not just Safer Seas it? Sure progression is slower but at that point does it even matter?
When it comes to combat, there are no real tips. Simply because hit reg is in such a bad state that you will lose a lot of fights, you had no business losing. So, the number one rule is that this game is broken af. So if you can get past the fact that this game will never work as intended you'll have the best time.
In areas of intense movement simulation...

I see this emoji around at times. What exactly does it mean? I'm too old 😱
@@JonBardcore here's a snippet from the r/moai subreddit: The moai emoji, also known as the "stone head" emoji, is a popular choice among emoji users. This emoji, which depicts a large stone head with a stoic expression and elongated ears, is often used to convey a sense of mystery or intrigue. But what makes the moai emoji the best emoji?
First and foremost, the moai emoji is unique and distinctive. Unlike other emojis that are easily recognizable and frequently used, such as the smiley face or the heart, the moai emoji stands out and adds a touch of novelty to any conversation. This makes it an excellent choice for expressing emotions or ideas that cannot be conveyed using more common emojis.
Another reason why the moai emoji is the best emoji is its versatility. Despite its seemingly specific appearance, the moai emoji can be used in a wide range of contexts and scenarios. For example, it can be used to represent a wide range of emotions, such as seriousness, mystery, contemplation, or even humor. This flexibility makes the moai emoji a valuable tool for expressing oneself in a concise and effective manner.
Additionally, the moai emoji has a rich cultural history and significance. The moai statues, which the emoji is based on, are iconic symbols of the ancient Polynesian culture of Easter Island. These massive stone heads, which were carved by the Rapa Nui people, have been a source of fascination for centuries, and continue to be a major tourist attraction to this day. By using the moai emoji, users can pay tribute to this fascinating culture and its unique artistic heritage.
Furthermore, the moai emoji has a timeless and enduring appeal. Unlike other emojis that may be trendy or fleeting, the moai emoji has a classic and enduring aesthetic that will never go out of style. This makes it an excellent choice for those who want to add a touch of sophistication and timelessness to their digital communication.
In conclusion, the moai emoji is the best emoji for a variety of reasons. It is unique, versatile, culturally significant, and timeless. Whether you're looking to add a touch of novelty to your conversations, or simply want to express yourself in a more effective and concise manner, the moai emoji is a fantastic choice.
And how did you want to express yourself there? :)
@@JonBardcore Just wanting to support a creator that i watched grow these last couple of months even thought i stopped playing SoT for a good while🍷🗿

As a Solo Galleon player, I 100% agree, UNLESS you are fishing.
I have a dedicated fishing boat, Cosmetics, Name, everything.
As a Gally you will turn less than friendly sloops away 7/10 times, and if you make it an obvious fishing vessel people are even less likely to bother you because you probably dont have loot.
Why are you a solo galleon player? Now I curious.
@JonBardcore Well to be honest, I wasn't always, i use to grab people for fishing trips from the SoT discord all the time but about a year ago the Discord really died after a hack, there use to be hundreds of people online but now your lucky if you can get 1 crewmen.
As for why i still Galleon, like i said above I enjoy the security that the "threat" of having a crew affords me. A random solo sloop is less likely to pull up on a Galleon to make trouble than another sloop.
Plus the ships name is literally named after my in game dog Atlas "Atlas's Fishing Boat"
Incorrect. People will sink you, regardless.
@spankyjeffro5320 oh they definitely will im not arguing that, im just saying there was a noticeable difference when i started doing it vs fishing on my regular sloop
why tf is every tutorial maker say that its just pixels in a game in the end of the video. This shi must be toxic toxic xD
Ziemlich sinnlos den Video.
I am a lsd and you really give some good tips 🫡
Say if i had an athena emissary flag raised but i used my captained ship to sell the chest of legends /athena items at the sovereign hut , would I still get the same amount of rep than i would if i sold it to the pirate lord, if this is the case then cant you just sell everything at a sovereign whilst flying the reaper emissary rather than goin to reapers hide out where you have more of a chance of seeing other players?
Ah, but Sovereigns don't deal with Reaper's. You want that credit you gotta go to the hideout. No other way around it
@@JonBardcore Ahhhh i see what about Athena then? Like i said if your flying grade 5 Athena emissary cant you just take all Athena stuff to the sovereign rather than the pirate lord and still get the same rep

It's that time of the year!
Why can rare not make a deal with rockstar for help I mean would it be cool if we can see raindrops dripping on the puddles on your ship or see the smoke of fire from Miles away, if the ships on fire
I think that's just a limitation of the game engine and how it handles sending that info to each player.
I agree with you man why can we not have A lantern save
