At about 6:50, I think you explained perfectly the problem with modern horror films as a whole. For as little you watched, you still watched a lot more than me. NOSFERATU was incredible and an actual gothic film with no apologies for it. BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE was fun and hey, we get a black and white Italian Horror scene and a reference to Bava and KILL BABY KILL. The Godzilla x Kong film was OK, but I much preferred the Japanese Toho Godzilla film that came out in 2023. That’s all I can remember seeing, I enjoy hearing you talk up your list.
I really liked "In A Violent Nature" with it's slow methodical pace, long shots and lack of music, although I understand why the Friday night crowds might not have dug it. You're following the killer, so you know where he is at all times, even if he's not in the shot. No teleporting bad guy. Some genuine "holy hell" kills in it too.
You've convinced me to rewatch Frogman. I was not a fan first time around. And omg #MissingCouple! I turned it off after like 10 minutes the first time because of the couple lol. Then a friend convinced me to stick it out and I loved it.
Yessss I'm so glad you ended up liking missing couple! I guess the couple didn't annoy me bc I actually watch channels like that. lol. I hope you enjoy frogman more a second time. I've watched it 5 times now and I notice something new every time I watch! I do think the jump scares could have been better, but I adore the characters and the overall story.
@ Just finished a rewatch of Frogman and liked it much better this time! I must have been in a bad mood the first time or something. Glad to have given it another chance because of your vid!
Frogman is definitely a hidden gem. My best for 24 would be Long Legs... with Late Night with the Devil, Abigail, Nosferatu and Sweet Darling rounding out my top 5
ugh i couldnt agree more about doing all the research you can to make a good movie! i was always encouraged in my studies in college to read watch etc before creating art!
HAHA that's what I named my Sim last year when I thought I was gonna be able to start playing the sims. That's wonderful, i just watched the herzog one for the first time...
"It would make a great double feature with Meth Gator" - that's a sentence you don't hear every day. "Ralph Ineson....he's kinda cute" - that's a sentence you really don't hear every day.
@Horrorbabe4 I didn't say that he is or is not handsome, just that "cute" isn't a word you would normally hear in reference to him. Sorry if you found my comment rude.
1. Nosferatu-BEST 2. Abigail 3. Late Night With The Devil 4. Oddity 5. Heretic 6. A Quiet Place: Day One 7. Alien: Romulus 8. It's What's Inside 9. Your Monster 10. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice 11. Smile 2 12. Caddo Lake 13. Blink Twice 14. Arcadian 15. Night Swim 16. Imaginary 17. Tarot 18. The Crow-WORST
You made me realize I forgot LATE NIGHT in this list omg!!! I'd place it at #2 and push everything else down! lol. Thanks for sharing yours! wow... I didn't even realize the crow came out already, I didn't hear a PEEP! I've watched reviews on a lot of these. Night Swim and Imaginary aren't calling me at all based on others' testimony. Tarot, I might try one day... hahah
Cool list. Cuckoo was the worst movie I saw in 2024. First Omen & LongLegs are tied for my favorite. Honorable mention was Maxxxine which was aight lol
After being raised on 70s and 80s horror, most of these films are seriously boring. Immaculate took all the fun out of nunsploitation. And Road House was horrible 😂
Congratulations on hitting the ground running in 2025, I hope you keep up this pace. Concerning the blandness of some of these movie makers, this is just back to the basics. Movies were made for the general public, and then there was the exploitation. Exploitation films cater to submarkets and not the general public. This sad Coven of yours has so submerged itself in exploitation that movies for the general public seem odd. These movies, appealing to the mass audience, seem to be written by a committee, based on market research, rather than a writer.
Thanks David! I'm going to TRY to film on wednesdays and upload EVERY sunday. wish me luck! You're so right about exploitation vs general films. I wasn't thinking like that. Sometimes I get horror and exploitation so intertwined in my head I forget I'm dealing with two very different beasts here. I definitely crave the Odd - it makes you feel something! "Written by a committee based on market research" -- makes me die inside! LOL!
#11 I gave Immaculate a 2/5, because I was laughing the whole time with the stupidity of the characters... it didn't help also that I watched it after Benendetta (4/5). #6 The unrealistic stupidity of every character in our average popcorn horror movie is even more surreal than a person being born from your spine ;) On the general theme about streaming, it is a repeat of the VHS-era of late 80s/90s, history repeats itself as a joke.
Oh my gosh, I forgot Late Night with the Devil 😭 I would def put it at #2 above oddity!!!!
Late Night With The Devil is unique 👍
Fantastic list! Awesome video! Always love your opinions.
thank you so much!
Great List, Katie! There are so many Movies from 2024 that I need to see yet
Same here!
you"re gorgeous! Oddity was my fave of the year
thank you! i'm glad you liked it too!
I appreciate your insight.
Have you ever seen Hunter, Hunter. Hard to be a God, or Bone Tomahawk?
Thanks! I've never seen any of those!

I've listened to many reviews on that one, I just may try it. it sounds interesting!

Well said Katie!
ugh i couldnt agree more about doing all the research you can to make a good movie! i was always encouraged in my studies in college to read watch etc before creating art!
Katie of der Nacht. I'm on German mode, sorry, just watched Nosferatu.
HAHA that's what I named my Sim last year when I thought I was gonna be able to start playing the sims. That's wonderful, i just watched the herzog one for the first time...
"I used to watch the shit out of Donnie Darko in high school." We're already friends. You made your sale.

We need more Wishbone references these days
RIGHT?!
FINALLLLLLLYYYYY!!!!! someone that agrees with me on "Milk & Serial" I did not see what the fuss is about????? I thought it was stupid......
THANK YOU! let us cling to one another in a sea of milk worshippers!
@KatieoftheNight lolllll yessss cling we shall there's too many milk worshippers

Finally! Someone else who did not like Milk & Serial! I may have disagreed with many of your picks but at least we agreed on that. Good video.
Thank you too, I feel validated! lol. glad you enjoyed the vid!
"It would make a great double feature with Meth Gator" - that's a sentence you don't hear every day.

Ralph is handsome to me as well. How rude

HAHAHA I laughed out loud, thank you for my first giggle of the day! 😆
❤ Wishbone.🐶
What's the story, Wishbone? I think I learned more from Wishbone than I did from my bachelor's in English :)
"Anyway the movie sucked" oh, word
I need to watch Horror in the high desert. I didn't realize that there was more than one.
It takes patience but I bet you'll like it!
Second one is an inferior, needless retread of the original. The third may be a redemption.

is the crow that bad? And how is smile 2 compared to smile 1?
Cuckoo was my number one! 😅
@@DoomedMoviethon I read that. you MUST be cuckoo! 😜
@@KatieoftheNight That director doesn't explain anything. And I never need/want a film to do that. Weird for weirdness sake? Then I probably dig it.
The Hangman: Black guys camping without the guidance of a Karen...not realistic !
Honestly your opinion of Cuckoo is refreshing. It seemed like i was the only one disappointed by it.
it was a very strange experience. i watched it with a small group ('scary move night') and afterwards, everyone was like... huh???
Cool list. Cuckoo was the worst movie I saw in 2024. First Omen & LongLegs are tied for my favorite. Honorable mention was Maxxxine which was aight lol
Yes, Frogman is a great movie
Yes, Late Night with the Devil is great as well 👍

bring back FUNSPLOITATION hahaha
