Cordialement

My great-great grandparents George and Martha (Bayne) Cooper came to America in the 1800s from Norfolk, England so naturally I enjoy learning about this beautiful country. Thank you for the documentaries.
Dear Charity - thank-you for taking the time to send a message and I am delighted to read that you have enjoyed watching the stories of the stately homes of Norfolk. It is indeed a wonderful County. There are many other historical stories on areas & people from Norfolk on my UA-cam channel which I hope you will enjoy. With good wishes
Thank-you for taking the time to comment Ian, and I am delighted that you have enjoyed the Stately Homes series. There are two more episodes at the editing suite so I am hopeful of having them online in the next few weeks.
Many thanks from a viewer from the US, this wonderful series presents a beautiful presentation of British houses that provides many of us the ability to see the treasures of England.
@@ChrisBaileyPresents I live in a 300 year old house in New Jersey, but my grandparents are from Newcastle which I was lucky to visit in my teens. Again, you have created very well presented programs which are a joy to watch.
My interest interest in Blickling is more along the lines of the Boleyn family. "Rumor" has it they inhabited the former manor on the grounds and that Anne was born here. Still, this episode was extremely interesting. Love seeing manor homes that, sadly, will never feel my feet. Lovely job!
Hello Tracey, and thanks for taking the time to watch the Blickling Hall story and to send a message. Yes, the current house was built early in the 17th century, on roughly the same footprint as the house that Thomas Boleyn & family lived in a century earlier. I would have loved to include the ghost stories in the episode but I was limited to just 12 minutes of film so sadly several stories & areas of the estate had to be missed off. Plus I had no images of the ghost so could only show a blank screen! I hope you enjoy the other Stately Homes too.
Thank-you Tim, that is much appreciated. I am delighted that you are enjoying the Stately Homes stories. There are a couple more in the editing stage so hopefully they can be added soon.
Outstanding series on some of the finest stately homes in UK. My family enjoyed a visit to Blickling years ago, when my brother lived in Norfolk, and my brother owns a fine original watercolor of the estate painted in the snow. Recommend Chris’s series on Norfolk piers if you enjoyed this.
Wow❗There seems to be no end to the wealth in GB. I suppose alot of people were and are employed to create and maintain these extraordinary creations. I would like to hear more about the artisans and the people behind the scenes., the gardeners, servants, etc.
Hello - and thank-you for taking the time to comment on the episode about Blickling Hall. It is indeed a beautiful House and well worth a visit should you be in Norfolk I hope you have enjoyed some of the other stories on my UA-cam channel
Hello Jade Yes, it is indeed awesome - and I always find something new to discover on each visit. The gardens in Spring are particularly delightful so I am hopeful that it can re-open in 2021 for us all to enjoy.
Hi Judy - and thanks for taking the time to drop a comment in on beautiful Blickling Hall. It is indeed outstanding. If you haven't already watched the episode then you might enjoy the 3-part series called "Deck The Halls" which we filmed as both Blickling and Hoveton Halls were preparing for Christmas. With good wishes Chris
@@ChrisBaileyPresents Thanks Chris for stopping by , I love old homes, and the history go with it ! Chris you are so lucky to live in the UK , and round beautiful homes ! I am form the US ,but I love to live in Stately Home... do you think the need a house keeper ... ? In till I see a ghost and start running but look on the bright side, UK is a island and Scots.. "would say" then they see me running.. "there she go again ! "
This was actually the home of my 15th great-grandfather, Sir Geoffrey Boleyn, who was also Lord Mayor of London from 1457-1458 The current house added to the original so much that it essentially replaced the first one which is the one he had.
This was the childhood home of Jane Boleyn wife to the infamous George… Narrator says house is Jacobean but it must actually have been built during the reign of Henry VIII or even earlier. Why can’t people get their facts right before publishing a video
Hello Elizabeth and thank-you for taking the time to comment. You are quite correct that Blickling Hall was the home of the Boleyn family, and most likely the birthplace of Anne Boleyn. Her grandfather bought it in 1452. However that Hall was sadly destroyed and when Sir Henry Hobart bought the estate in 1616, he built what we currently see. As the Jacobean period ran 1603 to 1625 (the reign of James I of England / James VI of Scotland) then my description of the house is actually historically correct. Jacobus is Latin for James and hence his reign is referred to as 'Jacobean' period. I do hope you have enjoyed the other Stately Homes in my series.
Dear Mr. Bailey, We are currently producing a documentary on the subject of ghosts for German television. For this purpose we would like to license some footage from this great video. Could you please contact me via vatter@storyhousepro.com to discuss the license terms? Many thanks, M. Vatter
Great house, but then in the library you talk of the ceiling and chimney piece, good enough, yet it is a library of books! Where is the discussion of the collection and its strength.and value of knowledge, historicity. The beauty of books is ignored!
Thanks for your comment Donald, and it is a fair point that you make. In response, I was restricted in the story-length, just 12 minutes to cover the story of the whole estate which just wasn't enough. If I could go back and re-edit then I would! But the original footage has all gone so unable to do that.
Ha Ha, I agree, that suit was just a bit too long in the legs ! Thanks for the nudge that I need to check that each time I film . Hope you have enjoyed the remainder of the videos stories. Kind regards, Chris
Presenter says this is Jacobean house… But also states related to the bullying family… So cannot be Jacobean… Must’ve been built during Henry VIII reign
If you mean the Boleyn family, the narrator says clearly in a reply to you that the original house purchased by them no longer exists. The present house IS Jacobean. Your previous comments was not only rude but incorrect.
I remember going there a few years ago and we had a very strange experience indeed. All the books in the library suddenly flew off the shelf as we were walking through it and we had to immediately take cover. The room went extremely cold and we heard this laugh, that I can only describe as pure evil. I got home and told my friend and he said something I’ll never forget. He said ‘It’s probably ghosts or something’.
hello Adam, Thank-you for taking the time to watch the videos and I hope you enjoyed the Blickling Hall story. Yes, it has a reputation for having a ghost or two within its walls, though I have not had the same experience as you!

Those "fire dogs" in the library fireplace are unicorns, with horns.
The fire dogs are what the logs sit on, the unicorns are on the fireback that is designed to protect the bricks on the back of the fireplace.

Quite aggresive, particularly for someone who is wrong.
Perhaps you should do your research before commenting incorrectly.
The wife of George Boleyn was NOT raised here! You are quite mistaken. Jane wasn’t a Boleyn until her marriage. This was the Boleyn family home.
