Hasina after having done so much of good for Bangladesh should as a matter of fact loved by her people the masses. Unfortunately the job reservation quota of 30 percent for the siblings of the freedom fighters didn't go down well. After a certain time it should have been abolished or brought down to 5 percent. Instead of that she took the decision to fire upon the student protestors killing hundreds. Her next big mistake was calling them Rajakars an insult. With growing unemployment increasing by the day she should have been more diplomatic as a leader to foresee the future. I feel she axed her own feet and alongwith it pulled down her father's image.
The reservation quota was brought by the court n it was axed by the Supreme Court. Hasina stood by it n definitely made it worse by calling them Razakars! It’s similar to Manipur where the court verdict started the riots but later not being to manage it, govt faced the brunt of it.
Instead of outright condemnation, South Asian nations should introspect on their treatment of minorities to determine if they truly uphold liberal values. India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, among others, must examine their policies and decision-making processes. Minority groups should have autonomy over their affairs, with reforms, if necessary, initiated and led by the communities themselves. To uphold the principles of secularism, a strong argument can be made for removing Islam as the state religion of Bangladesh. While some believe religious belief can strengthen secular credentials, others question the need for a state-imposed religious identity, especially one established by a dictator in the mid-1980s
