I was listening to a live feed on the Whyte v Povetkin bout last night and the youtuber hosting the feed said Whyte`s not jabbing enough, he should have set up his shots with jab rather that starting a combo with a power shot leaving himself open.
That knockout was an absolute brilliant move. He was bracing for a left hook to the body but Povetkin came up with an left uppercut. I thought whyte was winning the exchanges until the K.O
@@VivekRamanan87 Absolutely, I think Whyte was fighting to the best of his ability and he has improved a lot but he's too predictable in my opinion. Even when he was obviously dominating the bout he didn't throw a single feint and you could see how Povetkin was waiting for the right moment to land a big shot
How not to get countered when jabbing? As far as I know the jab is a long range punch and i cannot get countered by any short range punch such as uppercut or a hook, but the thing is the dangerous slip, the slip followed by a cross, that's why I try not to over commit when I pivot forwards to jab. Is there any way to not get countered?

Often times I hear a coach ask "which is your stronger arm" to a beginner to guide them into being a southpaw or orthodox but I think this is completely wrong to do. I am right handed but I am better at boxing as a Southpaw because most of my life my dominant leg [leg I shift my weight on when resting] is left! Because a punch starts at the foot/hip I think the dominant leg should determine one's stance! Also, because boxing is mostly mental it should be a fighter's choice which stance they'd prefer! I chose Southpaw against advice from 2 people (cause of the dominant hand belief) to be trickier! I train in both stances. My lead hook in ortho is weaker than my lead hook in South! For me each stance has their pros & cons and i like training to close the gap in difference.
@@seetsamolapo5600 someone should be in the stance they feel most comfortable in. For me ive trained to feel comfortable in either stance and will switch when trying to catch my opponent off guard with a counter

0:08 Triple lft hook
14:45 jab is about level angels speed changes
0:35 southpaw vs ortho
different angle jab :jab the middle /outside /body jab
1:15 time stamps
1:20 all stances againt each other
1:35 ortho vs south
1:44 two jabs different angle head /body jab
1:50 tradi jab :twist waist /turn counterclockwise from southpaw
2:00 sets up lft hand /everypunch sets up next punch /
every twist sets up next punch
Everypunch hides next punch
2:13 instrction vide
2:35 jab to head :tradi turn over jab
Then turn waist clockwise /not lean over
2:52 to thro jab under !
Then throw jab to body and step
Throw rt hand hook
3:15 footwork : step with front foot on jab /step with back foot on under jab
Front fo on body jab back fo with rt ha hook
3:28 precision : throw right punches
Right bodymechanic
Where those punches are placed / Where suppose to land punch
4:04 jab between glove
Jab at outside /I can throw throw gloves too
4:20but I try create that opening for body jab
4:50 then on body jab /change level /drop level make him look down
Throw rt hand lft hook
5:00 again
5:10 back hand created after body jab
Becz after body jab back hand comes fast
1 2 combos body head
5:25 and body jab makes him look down for head shot
5:30 again /footwork
5:50 bring feet with /move feet
6:05 I can step on cross hook too(but bring both feet together on jab ) /on just one step on body jab cross
7:10 here better expain : two steps (bring back foot but ) /or one step like 1 2 but 1 is body jab
7:30 again(back foot move on under /outside jab )
7:40 turn lft toe on lft hand
7:50 if I get too wide cant turn the foot
8:05 ofc first practice slow then faster /(after look at footwork to correct it )
8:15 southpaw vs south
Again betwwen gloves /or inside outside for better body jab
9:10 ortho vs south
9:25 again throw gloves /or outside /always be creative /
but for now practive outside to make openings
9:45 how he defend jab
10:00.two.ways defend it
10:32 even if I roll it with back hand /(Idont turn too much ans open my self
I just kind go down )
He still can land body jab
10:55 its about shooting jab from angels and different levels
11:15 again
11:33 not too wide with pads
(Not two pads next to each other /behind each other (its one head ) tryin keep everythin tight )
12:05 go down more on body jab ( on level change )
To drop his eyes
Goin down and up
12:35 bring rt foot up with rt hand
13:10 ortho vs southpaw / ortho vs ortho (holding pad with rt hand for jab /becz my jab on his rr side )
13:40 southpaw vs ortho /southpaw vs southpaw (holdind pas with lft hand for jab )
14:30 great drill to learn to set up punches with jab
Greats punch in boxin
But I gotta be able to create openings with it not just throw it
14:45 Jab its about levels (up down ) / angles /speed changes
Boys look clean.
You should make those two young fellas spar and post it on UA-cam would love to see how they work and it’s good for them aswell helps them get better
Coming soon!
6:55 its liitle bit hard to understand what u sayin here 😕
10:45 so if I was coach tom how should I defend it properly ?🤔
I was listening to a live feed on the Whyte v Povetkin bout last night and the youtuber hosting the feed said Whyte`s not jabbing enough, he should have set up his shots with jab rather that starting a combo with a power shot leaving himself open.
He was doing pretty good with the jab until the knockout
That knockout was an absolute brilliant move. He was bracing for a left hook to the body but Povetkin came up with an left uppercut. I thought whyte was winning the exchanges until the K.O
@@VivekRamanan87 Absolutely, I think Whyte was fighting to the best of his ability and he has improved a lot but he's too predictable in my opinion. Even when he was obviously dominating the bout he didn't throw a single feint and you could see how Povetkin was waiting for the right moment to land a big shot
That's easy to say because on his level people are able to counter the jab so its not necessary the best thing to do.
How not to get countered when jabbing? As far as I know the jab is a long range punch and i cannot get countered by any short range punch such as uppercut or a hook, but the thing is the dangerous slip, the slip followed by a cross, that's why I try not to over commit when I pivot forwards to jab.
