I thought if your town was too small for a police force, the county Sheriff would set up a branch office or at least extend Patrol & law enforcement duties to your town.
In most places your right. In utah, we have reserve officer positions. The difference is you have to go through the POST (police) Academy. Some reserve officers are paid 2/3 the regular officer pay per hour for there handful of hours worked.
Like the scheme of a town that is a county seat, in Northeastern Washington State. The town had a Chief of Police, which had no other Police officers under him. He resigned to run for a higher State office. The town has no jail but uses the county jail that resides in the town. The town finally dismantled the town Police Department (of one officer) and has the county sheriff’s department police it's town limits.
When I was a reserve sheriff we had to go through specific training in department standards and SOP a minimum standards course and background check as well as a concealed carry training and only worked with a regular deputy, we never worked alone so there was no discrepancy with what we did in the field and there was full transparency with the reserve deputy program. I served in the reserve deputy program for 5 years and it was almost as much fun as being a firefighter and there were times I arrived on scenes with injuries and was able to provide medical treatment until paramedics arrived. If you live in an area with volunteer firefighters please support and volunteer to support them and the community, it's the most fun you will ever have in life.
My dad had a crippled foot for most of his life but he still got off his fat ass when he was in his 20’s and was a volunteer firefighter in a rural area without a ton of action but still he ran into his fair share of burning buildings and dragged a couple of people out
When our country was founded the intent of the founding fathers was that the communities and the states with police themselves. We might see a lot less corruption and police beatings and racial profiling if all police were volunteers and serve one day a week or one shift a week.

"almost all 50" means "not all 50." Also, no. Law enforcement agencies must notify the FBI through NCIC prior to flying armed and it can only be done for prisoner transport.
When you use your training as a standard, and why someone can’t just be a police officer without, you should be held to a higher standard when you go against said training.
Well, the REALLY disturbing thing about this is that these guys believed that the police officer credentials really would get them out of anything. If these worked, even once, it seems like there are more arrests warrants to be issued.

Not a whole bunch different result from “certified “ policeman “ with “qualified immunity “ that repeatedly violate civil rights and laws. In some ways it’s more honest. The “certified “ are supposed to be verified knowledgeable and of proper discipline too bad there’s so little follow up and enforcement of standards. Qualified immunity should be affirmative defense only required to be proven each time claimed, same as “self defense “ is to the rest of the citizens.
Actually is not a bad idea for small towns that can't afford a police force but it should be citizens who live in the area and pass a background check.
Why don’t we keep investigations on how we all need money to live and this president is sending a second round of one billion ( 2 billions ) this time to Ukraine instead of U.S. American Citizens
I like how the state police chief says a lot of people want to be police officers but can't. These days, a lot of people can be police officers but don't want to. It's just a hassle of a job and there are so many better employment options for good and honest people. A law enforcement career is left to be populated by the lower end of the educational curve and those who have fewer options. Honestly, becoming a police officer is not difficult. A lot of agencies are so desperate for people that they are accepting misdemeanor crimes. When I went through a police academy many years ago, I was shocked by the number of people with prior dui, theft, and assault convictions. Makes a person wonder which side is for the Crooks and which for the cops? Think about it the next time a cop pulls you over. Everyone should record every interaction with police regardless of the perceived professionalism of the officer. Don't trust the police simply because they wear a uniform and badge.
Facts!... I almost became one many years ago, that job is stressful as hell. You would ended being an alcoholic, wife-beater and drug addict. I know people who are gang bangers joining the force.

They're bringing in $40,000 a year in just the fees and yearly dues to become one of these reserve officers. And that is why this was allowed to go on for 13 years.
In NC, reserve officers are required to attend the same academy as any other law enforcement official in NC. Still have to complete 700 hours of Basic Law Enforcement Training
About 50 years ago Springfield Missouri Sheriff 'Mickey Owen' gave out Special Deputies Badges to the political his politcal supporters. They would run around like John Wayne, get involved it Springfield City issue and came close to getting in several gun fights.
I think it’s fine. The police “ accreditations” and companies that are currently in place of course they want a monopoly they do not want to lose their place. If the people of the city are not complaining, why would anybody else. When things don’t make sense it always has to do with money.

They let these guys come be cops in town for the funzies, for as long as they needed to, so they could keep the badge year round, and they laid $400 each for it. I’d be happier if the mayor had put the money into infrastructure rather than his and the “police chief”’s pockets. These certified cops interviewed here try to make it seem like becoming a cop is akin to becoming a lawyer. A hairdresser gets more training. The job is not difficult.
You have no idea what you're talking about. The vast majority of the country requires a two year criminal justice degree. The remainder only require a 2-year degree in any subject but you must have an associate's degree. As for the job being hard, spend a week actually doing the job, you'll figure out how easy and how hard it is.
Don't get me wrong everybody interviewed in this video is a fucking douchebag. Police have no more authority than an average citizen, the difference, is police are bound by oath to intervene and act whereas a citizen has a right to yield our sovereignty to the police. Any member of the United States of America citizenship can make an arrest if they are victim of or have witnessed a crime. We have the option to do nothing, we have the option to yield to the police, we also have the option to step in and make the arrest ourselves because we the people are the law, the law is already in our hands because we are the law.
There are some extreme rural places where you can not have a two years associate's degree and still swear your oath as an officer of the peace. No you don't have to be a both found peace officer to be sheriff. Sheriff in this country is an elected position.
Put the entire lot in jail, including the Mayor. Any of them that pulled over, detained, arrested, threatened in any way, harmed or inconvenienced anyone in the general public should be brought up on charges and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Not to mention having their gun permits revoked in all states for 10 years. If found guilty, they should be thrown in prison with the shtheads that stormed the Capitol.
As a kid, growing up in rural Missouri, the sheriff there did similar stuff. In Missouri at that time, you had to beg the sheriff for permission just to buy any handgun. He denied most applications. But if you joined his fake sheriff reserve, you got a badge and permission to buy any guns you wanted. Those reserve “cops” were the biggest bullies ever! We couldn’t do anything without one of them attacking. By the time I was a teen unregistered handguns, which didn’t require sheriff permission, were worth an extra $100. There were cases every week of the sheriffs reserve cops beating and abusing people. Finally the sheriff got too old to do the job and good ole “Buck” retired. And his scheme fell apart. But as far as I know, nobody was ever held accountable for the abuses. Similar situations occurred throughout Missouri. That’s one of the reason that Missouri was the first state to enact “Constitutional Carry”. We were sick and tired of abusive sheriffs controlling our gun rights.

County Sheriff's departments and the state police in Michigan require police academy training for paid officers (this is not necessarily true of Sheriff's posses), the state has its own program and counties require that recruits attend either Grand Valley State University's or West Shore Community College's police academy program. The largest city in the state, Grand Rapids and second largest city Detroit operate their own police academy for city police, some departments require university police academy attendance and many small towns don't require any training at all.
Seems like a highly trained department.
A bunch of folks who wanna harass folks and be above the law.
Why is it these kind of guys are always sporting the bad facial hair? Losers.
$400 a year? I'm sure he could have gotten at least $10k a year each and actually rehabbed the police department.
Yea those wanna be cops would have paid A LOT more to play cop
The Mayor said "Just Because the News Reporter wanted to know who the Reserve Officers were, most of them quickly quit, so in the best interests of the Public the Mayor shut the dept. down"?...Umm someone should be Investigating that Mayor!
I've been working in law enforcement for a while and not only did I go to college for criminal justice after I went to a police academy. On top of that we are always getting training. Being a former spec ops does not give them the same training. First I don't know how any arrest they make would stand up in court. 2nd there's no way the mayor and town counsel did not know what was going on in a town that size.3rd having a new Mexico police I.D does not give the right to carry a weapon in other state's. This town is lucky that one of these want to be's did not hurt someone. I'm really surprised Jeremy DeWitt from Florida is not one of them.
One of them did 'hurt someone'. One shot his brother-in-law (in Oregon) flashed his credentials and is now convicted.
Another was involved in a drug raid where someone was killed. And a third was indicted in Carolina for drug smuggling.
No such thing as criminal justice, also being a cop lol big deal.
Lol love how you threw Jeremy DeWitt in there.. love all his arrest.. he would have definitely paid 400 and would have patrolled the town stopping everyone
@@levinolan636 Are you kidding me. Yes there is criminal justice degrees. Do a little research.
@@10Wk3y84R you are right about a police officer caring in all 50 what I actually meant to say was they don't have jurisdiction to make any kind of arrest
They do. Any real need for law enforcement would be handled by county sheriff's dept.
This is Hilarious! Really sounds more like a joke than an underground crime ring.
Yeah had more to do with guys wanting to carry weapons nationally under the federal law
Yea, seems a bit like an overblown story and I hate most cops🤣
So many laws state that they do not apply to police officers. This is really a genius scheme. I want in.
Maybe it is time to change the laws and make them apply to Law Enforcement or increase penalties for LE. I wish I had the answer 😕

My dad had a crippled foot for most of his life but he still got off his fat ass when he was in his 20’s and was a volunteer firefighter in a rural area without a ton of action but still he ran into his fair share of burning buildings and dragged a couple of people out
Literally no different then any other cop. They go to "academy" for a few weeks where they are told everyone not in a uniform is their enemy.
Same thing I was thinking
@@Rapha_YadaFarms Maybe cops are getting brainwashed into believe we're the enemy. Well now I know.
When our country was founded the intent of the founding fathers was that the communities and the states with police themselves. We might see a lot less corruption and police beatings and racial profiling if all police were volunteers and serve one day a week or one shift a week.

22 weeks of schooling, a cosmetologist has more schooling than Law Enforcement, its clear in their actions they need more Training than they are getting, nation wide.
They needed a 100 officers???
Right? For a town with 430 people? Something is so wrong here.
Lake Arthur is a cesspool. The town next to it, Artesia where my mother lived until she died, is literally called “T town” as in “tweaker town” or “tweakerville”
@@GeorgeWashingtonLaserMusket that's the nickname of the town because of all the meth users. I'd be a little concerned if a town was actually named "Tweakerville", but then again, a land owner named his 1,000 acre piece of land "Mississipaweazyassachusetts" 😑😏, so not much surprises me these days...
How are they criminals ? The only criminal would be the so called chief. They should also hold the mayor accountable, he oversees the town.
Dont you guys get it?? these "officers" can carry concealed weapons in almost all 50 states and on airlines with this credential.
"almost all 50" means "not all 50."
Also, no.
Makes you wonder how many false arrests were made and if those people would get out
Also shines a bright light on the fact everyone knows, cops get away with just about everything.
Was Ysidro Salazar still mayor? That PoS was corrupt when I was a kid growing up there.
After watching UA-cam for the last year or two, it is amazing to me the stories that just keep coming out of the state of New Mexico whether it's about the police , whether it's about some office holding person who is clearly abusing and misusing funds, their position at City. It's just like no end to the list of things ....property that was purchased, things built on it and then it's just a nothingness, it's a ghost town. it just amazes me !!!! some somebody needs to go in ther, and just shake the rug and clean the whole entire state of New Mexico and start over
Arizona as well
🤣😂🤣😂 and that's everyday something crazy pops up. I just sit back try to stay out of the way and watch...
If it is a local police force and the city council was behind it then is it actually illegal.
Based on the facts, those individuals are all impersonating police-officers and committing fraud. They should be held accountable!
I agree
I know people who are gang bangers joining the force.
not alot of difference between cops and criminals
Most small towns in Wyoming still do this madness with the help of federal agency’s
The red sentence that saws HR 218 COMPLIANT is a way for them to carry concealed pistols in all 50 states and allows them to carry a handgun in the passenger cabin of a commercial aircraft.
Very dangerous scam I'm glad its getting shut down!
Wow! The corruption is really strong in this little town. I don't think quitting is going to solve the chiefs problems. I think the feds will eventually lock him up.

They're bringing in $40,000 a year in just the fees and yearly dues to become one of these reserve officers. And that is why this was allowed to go on for 13 years.
It’s almost like the badge attracts cowards
Its an easy way for cowards to gain power just like pedophiles who became priest to gain easy access to kids.
In NC, reserve officers are required to attend the same academy as any other law enforcement official in NC. Still have to complete 700 hours of Basic Law Enforcement Training
Crimes, or Violations are supposed to be handled by qualified Law enforce enforcement people, not just Jhon Doe's !!!!
My town has 3500 people and has 8 cops. This is a joke.

I think it’s fine. The police “ accreditations” and companies that are currently in place of course they want a monopoly they do not want to lose their place. If the people of the city are not complaining, why would anybody else. When things don’t make sense it always has to do with money.

I’m gonna play devils advocate-in a small New Mexico town with 400 something people who probably 99.99% have guns; I can see how the mayor would say okay to the extra $60,000 ish tax dollars the town got for letting these weirdos act like cops. I’m sure they didn’t think these guys would do anything dangerous… until they did.
Sounds to me like the town was relatively safe and that the reserve program worked for the most part- except the lack of background checks, qualifications, and required passing of police academy. They let these guys come be cops in town for the funzies, for as long as they needed to, so they could keep the badge year round, and they laid $400 each for it.
I’d be happier if the mayor had put the money into infrastructure rather than his and the “police chief”’s pockets. But relatively speaking, if the guys on Dan Blitzerians team would have kept a lid on their crazy; they’d be fine

These certified cops interviewed here try to make it seem like becoming a cop is akin to becoming a lawyer. A hairdresser gets more training. The job is not difficult.
a fry cook at your local burger joint gets more training than a cop.

So fraud racketeering impersonating a police officer arrest them all !
A great example of how journalists - and journalism, aka the First Amendment - can make a huge difference.
