New subscriber here, watching this was hard I've had these boots for the better part of 4 almost 5 years they have made me a lot of money, and they still look good beat up but I love these boots and I've maintained them the whole time great content btw
I have a pair 2408 with the supersole 2.0 and I was not happy with the life of them only 1.5 years before they complete fell apart. So I had a local cobbler replace the worn out with Vibram christy soles and LOVE the boot now vary conformable boot to work 10-12 hrs a day in central Texas in Summer !! I think the heat in Texas is really hard on this type of sole they not made for temps 100-115 F all day but any love the videos you do Thank you
My 2406's just screamed in horror! Having worn a variety of RedWing boots for more than 20 years, I can say this is the most durable sole. Also the most complimented pair? I get a lot of unsolicited "nice boots" comments. Leather quality and comfort is typical and what I've come to expect.
I own 3 pairs of the 8 inch version of theirs boot and one pair I've got are going into 6 years of wear and they are cracked a little bit but they don't blow out and they don't leak at all until you get a hole hole in the sole but you definitely will get your money's worth out of them probably ten folds over lol
I have these same boots. Every 6 months I clean them with soap & water. After they are dry I rub some Red Wing burgundy color shoe cream all over to the boot. Lastly I used the Red Wing mink oil. After I let it sit for several hours I start wiping off the excess mink oil. The burgundy cream is always rubbing off onto the rag. Is this normal? Is there a better method of using the cream and mink oil?
I appreciate the very thorough examination. However I wish you had more light directed from the camera towards the boot. it's hard to see the details of the boot.
Thanks for posting this. Subbed. I have a pair of RW 607 and Rovers. The Rover sole needs to be replaced and I was thinking of the VIbram mini-lug, but I will have to call our local dealer to see if they can put a S-S 2.0 on the Goodyear welt.
Not mistaken they are both trash There is another guy that does boots But he cuts them straight down the center long ways to where you can see the layers in a far better detail
Not wanting to be negative, but those boots looked like they had some life left in them. The hole on the inside could raise a blister but it looked fixable. Interesting to see how boots are made I'd just pick a more broken pair!
You're not being negative at all. They had a lot of life left in them. But in the name of curiosity and boot voucher programs everywhere. He picked up his new boots and dropped off his old one with me.
I thought they looked basically new I wear 2211 and put tough toe on them and have the toe of the sole come apart in less than a year so those boots were in excellent ahape
The welts are glued in and what the cobbler told me that they used a sawsall to cut old sole off and rebuild the welt with new leather and put the soles on that
great video i have a couple pair of red wing 1412 boots and the supersole 2.0 is an amazing sole. I have always had made in America red Wings until just this last Month when i broke down and bought a Pair of Hoffmans,,I must say i wear my Hoffmans for work and My Red Wing 2292's for going out with the wife now instead of for work.
As another comment mentioned it’s to add support when putting pressure in the area by distributing said pressure. It also makes the boot more supportive as it helps the area between the heel and forefoot from sagging. Think of laying down a 2x4 with one end on the back of a truck and the other on the ground. If you put weight on the 2x4 it will begin to bow, the shank would be akin to putting another 2x4 on top (or something more rigid)making it handle more weight before bowing the same amount.
I think that Wranglestar has done a pretty good review on them since he had his custom made. Like they should be if you are going to be a fire fighter or logger.
It's definitely cool to see these boot breakdowns. I'm a little surprised how much easier the "Thorogoods" got pulled apart and being half the age compared to the "Red Wings", would like to see a USA made Chippewa work boot next 👍🏼
Lol you want a pair of the 50$ Walmart waterproof brown brahma boots with 4 months of farmer wear on them I just ordered my thorogood 814-4141's they'll be here on Wednesday I'll mail my old brahmas to you be neat to see what you get for 200 less dollars you know! Let me know!

Obenuafs Heavy Duty LP. Originally designed for fire fighter boots. I love it.
I just got these boots. they make concrete feel like expensive carpet with the extra thick padding!

Next time it will look like a laboratory!
Just bought a pair, nice to see what’s inside. They look pretty tough.
Hey Boot Guy. Do you think you can take a look at Abilene western work boots? They are one of the few western boots that are still made in Texas.

I'd love to see a Cat or Timberland dissected to see how they compare.
Not mistaken they are both trash

Who gives a shit
I would love to see more dissecting of boots. Very interesting
You got it.
Hi Issac! Have you found out what was this heel stiffener?
The welts are glued in and what the cobbler told me that they used a sawsall to cut old sole off and rebuild the welt with new leather and put the soles on that
how heavy is the soul compared to the rest of the boot? My boots weight a lot

Just restored my 4425s. Over 5 and 7 years old, 7 days a week working in them
Kids in Africa could have ate that boot.
Could have eaten..
awesome video. thanks for posting. love seeing the "guts" of the boots.
I would like to see more of this type of stuff
+Kent Greene cool. I meet up with a few of my local subscribers this weekend for dissection donations. I have a Thorogood 804-3366 and TIMBERLAND PRO.
rookie question - what does the shank do? is it just to try and deflect any nails you may step on or what?
Devon Sacre from what I hear the shank is for climbing ladders, kicking a shovel and much more so it won't wear out and tear up your boot

This video hurts me for some strange reason. Sound of the knife cutting the leather 😢😢😢
It's not my style of boot, but that thing was built like a tank......
Is this boot supposed to be similar to 606?
Yes, with a steel toe.
Vid is a little dark and audio seems a bit muffled. But cool nonetheless.
+Joe M. First try should never be a success. Next time I'll use more lights and a few louder microphones.
If you donate all these boots every year, can I have a pair of these beautiful boots
Ewww. That insole looks gross. I change mine out about once a year (depending on how often I wear said boots).
Dissect a pair of nicks boots!
I have seen the leather they use. I might need a sharper blade and a vise.
TheBootGuy oh absolutely you would! I've heard that the internal quality of nicks are amazing. I hear they give tours if you're ever up that way!
I think that Wranglestar has done a pretty good review on them since he had his custom made. Like they should be if you are going to be a fire fighter or logger.
They look just broke in. lol
Seriously. Could have just cleaned and oiled them with new insoles woulda been better than new
sawzal
I hope you wash your hands you Basically have your hands all over some dudes sweaty feet
interesting

My records show you watched for 1:23 minutes.
@@TheBootGuyreviews your records are wrong, must be fake news......i mean fake records!
