Dude this is awsome I'm the owner of the Iron Rangers . I have worn these for 3yrs everyday I work as a HVAC techbician , standing in water and coil cleaner . Going in crawls and replacing coils or in 130 degree attics and kneeling down in mud and dirt. I decided on the rubber and leather comber due to traction issues with the harder Viabram soles . Excited to see how they feel and work when I get them back . 🤗
I own two pairs of Iron Ranger. A howthorne muleskinner and an amber. Is it normal that the tongue on the amber seems made with two different types of leather? The left one is way too softer than the right one
I'm in Northamptonshire borders England, my buddy is a cobbler, i pop in quite regularly, only when you actually see a cobbler at work do you appreciate the skill and time that goes into an extensive repair. I actually find it therapeutic to watch a master craftsman at work.
Thank you gents, somehow I found watching this whole repair process to be very relaxing and satisfying to my brain. Do also want to add I did get Anson belts a year ago and they are holding up very well and are excellent.
I always enjoy the repairs and restorations you guys do. This is a very enjoyable site. BTW, I bought three Anson belts and two buckles; I absolutely love them.
I finally got me a pair of those 1000-mile rough out boots. It took a while because they were always out of stock. I dig them because they look so unique. Each pair is going to age differently. Love your guys' work!
Hey guys!! Thanks again for such an amazing video. I’ve got a pair of iron rangers that are in desperate need of a facelift. I was wanting a half sole like in this video. Good to see that it turns out so cool. Hoping to send them your way soon!
Nice video! I first heard of Anson from your channel and have two of their buckles and two straps. Love their design for those small adjustments and their quick-release system is brilliant.
Great job on both pair. I have a couple questions concerning shoe repairs in general. The last time I took shoes in for a new sole, it took over a month before I could get the repairs made and in my conversation with the Cobbler, he mentioned how expensive materials have become and why it cost so much to repair shoes these days. Still, he wasn't lacking customers. My questions are, how long should it take to have your shoes repaired and where is the line between getting them repaired and just buying new?
I have the Iron Rangers from Red Wing, they are absolutely the best boot I have ever owned. They're comfortable, I actually wear them during tradeshows and have no regrets at the end of the day. I just use the Red Wing Cream on my mine, about once a year I do a saddle soap and thats about it. Question, should I be doing something else? You mentioned a conditioner? I have to say, I liked the black sole, Im going to send mine over when I need them.
Both boots turned out superbly guys . I guess my personal preference is for the Iron Rangers as I like the style of that boot. The new sole kind of gives it that logger boot vibe.
Another nice Saturday morning spent with the Potter brothers doing another fine resole. I am wondering if my 4 yr old Danner Bull Run Moc toes are worth it to resole.? The sole is wore down, but the welts still seem to be in good shape and the uppers are good as well with no holes or anything on them. Would a Vibram Montagna sole work on them..? Or go with another wedge sole..? I would appreciate it if you think they are worth doing...
Thanks so much for watching! As long as the welts are in good shape and still have plenty of room for new stitches, then all you’d be looking at are new soles/midsole. Check out our website for sure, but it would probably be around $160 if we did them.
God I just love all these videos . I just got my iron rangers for Christmas . I can’t wait until they need a resole . I’m going to send them to you guys .
This video randomly appeared in my feed. I found it really interesting to watch this process. Do you only re sole them? How does the padding on the inside work?
So with the iron rangers are you able to add an extra layer of leather at the midsole, add some arch support and still do a mini lug sole or a Vibram sierra type sole? I’d like to add some arch support and cushioning when I am due for a resole.
Awesome job as always! I sent a pair of Redwing Iron Rangers to get resoled by Redwing….2 months later I still have 2 more months until they’re finished!!!
Thanks for letting me know about Anson belts They replaced one of belts that broke I’ve had it three years great customer service I will buy from them again
Just started following channel and noticed the Columbia academy hat. I work at screenprint shop in Alabama and we print alot of their spirit wear and the teams gear as well. Small world. Haha. Love the channel
Just got my AE Sturgis (they were delivered while I was out of town) and they're fantastic! The new Vibrams should keep em goin for a long time yet, thanks guys! Love the work!
It would be cool if you told us what the repair cost is when you do these. Loved the video and I have a pair of thorogood boots that need to be resoled and the plastic cap on the inside of the toe is coming loose but I don’t know if it’s worth fixing. Leather has been taken care of.
G’day I really enjoyed watching this it’s amazing how you can restore these old boots and having them looking near new. I’ve been watching you for a while now and there is something relaxing in watching 😅the channel, one thing having had this myself is be care on how to do some procedures because of your “ carpel tunnels “. It’s not nice to get, anyway love the show and you two are very professional take care kind regards John
Love the content you both make the best content, keep it coming please, I would love to see a segment from you both where you take a pair of boots that are "not fixable/resoleable" and give feedback on how you would go about improving on the boot to make it better so it can be resoleable. Maybe even rebuild the boot, to show what it would take.
@@TrentonHeath I have on a number of occasions attempted to get some boots resoled but have been told it's not doable but I never get a reason why just that is not doable. I think a series like this would allow you both to educate the audience as to why they are not resoleable/fixable and also allow us to see how much effort it takes and maybe even cost breakdown/time it takes for businesses like yourself to do a repair/resole. I know that your videos have helped me understand which boots to buy and why quality matters over time. I have a pair I would donate to the channel if you are up for it.
Special Anson Belt offer here: ansonbelt.com/trent Get 6 POSSIBLE belt combos for under $100. Thanks Anson Belt for sponsoring this video.

Awesome…thanks for sending them in! Hope you like the new look and grip of the new soles/heels.
Don’t be so stingy with leather conditioner in the future.
i'm curious what this ran you if you don't mind saying would be tempted to get this done when mine need to go in but afraid of the cost lol.
@@NeoPortaPotty $150 - $250 is usual depending on how much work needs to be done + the cost of shipping your boots there & back.

Love watching true craftsmen working in a seldom seen trade.
Thanks guys!
You’re welcome. Thanks so much for watching!
yep GREAT channel GREAT craftsmanship
I appreciate the great camera work, excellent audio and no annoying soundtrack that takes away from the meditative flow of the work.
Thank you gents, somehow I found watching this whole repair process to be very relaxing and satisfying to my brain. Do also want to add I did get Anson belts a year ago and they are holding up very well and are excellent.
Thanks so much for watching! Glad you enjoyed the video and the Anson belts.
This is some great work guys! I always find it amazing as to the work that goes into a pair of boots or shoes. We appreciate your efforts.
Thanks so much! We appreciate you watching and are glad to know you’re enjoying them.
In separateness lies the world's great misery, in compassion lies the world's true strength.
I always enjoy the repairs and restorations you guys do. This is a very enjoyable site. BTW, I bought three Anson belts and two buckles; I absolutely love them.
Thanks! Glad to know you’re enjoying the videos. We appreciate you watching…and for purchasing from Anson!
I finally got me a pair of those 1000-mile rough out boots. It took a while because they were always out of stock. I dig them because they look so unique. Each pair is going to age differently. Love your guys' work!
Glad you finally got a pair. After seeing these, I may do the same.
I'm in Scotland and wish you had a shop over here. You guys are great they way you use your skills to restore boots and shoes 😊❤
i love the fact that y’all are talking a little smack about each other but it’s not being mean or malicious, it’s all in good fun
I got a pair of those 1000 mile. Absolutely love them. The rough out suede looks better and better the more they get worn.
It blows me away how they fill those things up with steaming hot cork
Even with the machine assistance, there is still a lot of hand labor in quality shoe repair. 💚🤗
Very much so.
Really glad to see Forrest is still there. Enjoyed this re-sole challenge; it made for a good comparison of similar boots in similar shape.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.

Gotta love it!!! Craftsmanship unmatched anywhere! Owners should be very pleased. Always the Bestest!!! Be Safe
Thanks so much! We appreciate you watching.

Thanks! Glad you like the belts. We have quite a few of them as well and really like them.
I always enjoy your videos. I really appreciate the content you create. I learn a little something in each video. Thank you.
When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.

лучше купить новую пару, какой толк от новой подошвы если скоро появятся дырки на сгибах)

Old shoe makers are smiling down at you showing off their chosen and GOD GIVEN TALENT THAT WAS BESTOWED ON THEM NOW YOU…..😊❤
I definitely enjoyed seeing these updated and cared for - thanks for the vid!
Always fascinated how the nails don’t go through to where the foot is. Great vid!

I need to work “dad gum” into my lexicon.
😉 It’s a “southern” thing.
I say it all the time. I'm from Eastern Kentucky is probably the reason. Love these guys work.
@drzaius844 it's all one word as well: "dadgum." When used as a swear it's "dadgummit!" Dad gum is something else entirely.
Dagmmit
Dad gummit, you sure do!
I’m growing to grow a Sancho Stash, like I did when I would deploy overseas during my time in the Marines! Studs!
My first field foreman always had the same Red Wings on his feet
Thanks made me thank about someone from 40 years ago
Greetings from South Africa. As usual an excellent job guys. Respect to the craftsmen.

You just re-soled a pair of Red Wing Chukkas for me. The turn around, customer service, and re-sole were great!
I remember those. Glad you like how they turned out. Thank you for sending them to us.
Great job as always looking forward for more information on the wedge soles.Looks like they would be really comfortable
You can’t not like these guys! Positive vibes throughout the video.
Incredibly Awesome work as usual! A real treat to watch you guys work.
This video randomly appeared in my feed. I found it really interesting to watch this process. Do you only re sole them? How does the padding on the inside work?
Great work gentlemen. Both boots look amazing. Have a beautiful weekend. Thanks for the video.
Thank you! As always, we really appreciate you watching. Have a great weekend!
I was wondering how you grooved the rubber for stitching- sweet!
Awesome to watch craftsmen at work 👍
hell yeah ! if your a shoe aficionado and truly know what goes into quality craftsmanship then this are your men .
Thank you! We appreciate it.

Follow effective action with quiet reflection. From the quiet reflection will come even more effective action.
Iv gotta get a pair of those iron rangers. Great job!
Love watching you spread the Forbidden Mustard onto the insoles
Good to see some American craftsmanship still being practiced.
Europeans do it too
Love those iron rangers. Just sent t mine in and I went with a similar sole. Can’t wait to get them back. That look is better than I imagined!
Great work! 💯
Question on the Iron Rangers. Are they a good Boot for Construction Work?
You two did a great work . Always enjoy and loves watching your videos. 👍
Thanks so much! We always appreciate you watching.
Just got my AE Sturgis (they were delivered while I was out of town) and they're fantastic! The new Vibrams should keep em goin for a long time yet, thanks guys! Love the work!
Both pairs of boots look good. Winter is coming so the resoles were a good idea, IMO.
Like the double, with same kind of boots. Great work fellas!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Fantastic resoles! 👍😊
Would putting a layer of that burlap looking stuff like Birinstocks does over the natural cork, help the cork to stay together better?
Man I really love the look of those Red Wings now 😍
these videos are so good.
A couple of pairs of old classics right there. Old friends for the hooves, and lookin' good once again.
Good job thanks from Kiev
Do you ever do half soles and heels? Are the Cat's Paw, O'Sullivan or Biltrite rubber heels still used?
Forrest needs his own channel.
It would be cool if you told us what the repair cost is when you do these. Loved the video and I have a pair of thorogood boots that need to be resoled and the plastic cap on the inside of the toe is coming loose but I don’t know if it’s worth fixing. Leather has been taken care of.

Eine gute Arbeit von zwei guten Männern!👍🔨 Viele Grüße aus Deutschland
Danke schön!
Great video guys as usual.
Glad you enjoyed it! We appreciate you watching.
Good stuff, that was fun to watch. I have to give the win to the wolverine because I can only image how comfortable they are with that sole!
I'd love to see you guys do a Zamberlan Norwegian Welted Hiking boot. I've had really good luck with these Boots and would love to see how there made.
Love your work guys , in my humble opinion you guys should be making your own brand off Boots
To be happy is to be able to become aware of oneself without fright.
great work on those red wings
