Two reasons this series is great . The use of children's drawings help enhance the horror of the situation . It has a happy ending. Something extremely rare in most analog horror
Agreed. The whole story feels like you're being taken on a journey into darkness and you come out the other side into the light, feeling like you've learned something.
@@lucascoval828that’s a niche in horror but it’s also where the idea of the final girl comes from. Personally I like it better than “and everyone you know is dead now goodbye”
"They're free now" has broken me. I didn't expect myself to burst into tears, but I did. To finally hear that little girl's voice, those three words. It was the purest thing I could've imagined. This is a phenomenal story. Thank you.

Honestly the thing that makes me the most emotional is the fact that Julia actually respects Jess and the ghost children when she realizes they're real. She acknowledges them, asks for their input, thanks them when they help. It's just so... Humanizing, which is incredibly necessary because society so often dehumanizes and strips children of all agency. Children are people, they have thoughts and feelings and deserve to be listened to and respected. The only thing they don't have is experience and full brain development, but thats why we are here to help them! The ghost children are getting more respect and attention from a woman who can't even see them than they have in a long long long time and tbh it makes me cry I like it a lot. Ty for this incredible work !!
that's what literally a therapist should do. Open-mindedness is vital for a therapist. example there are some people that has sexual desire for children or violent tendencies that are...very graphic, and some gets help through a therapist and if they can't accept that, how are they gonna get their help? Its gone to the point where the video spoonfeeds the climax of the story (1:12:07).
They're children, no one dehumanizes them we just don't pretend they're little adults and force decisions on them that they shouldn't make hence why all this nonsense with kids is happening because adults give them way too much credit. Yes, they are smart for kids but they are still kids.
@@TheUnseenPath "children" are not a monolithic group, they *are* small people that are individuals and deserve to be able to make decisions for themselves even early on. Being allowed agency in ways that are reasonable like allowing them to decide the styles they like and activities they might like to do or their opinions on big family decisions will help them not only have better understanding of themselves but of other people and how to interact with the world. Children model the behavior they see- we need to show them that we value them and they will value themselves *and* others. They aren't always going to make the right choices because they're young and they don't have the understanding born of experience but that doesn't mean they should be denied the humanity of being able to at least be PART of the conversation!
@TheUnseenPath what do you mean by “nonsense with kids”? Also when you’re talking about all kids, what does it even mean to say they’re “smart for kids but still kids” like what are you comparing? This comment doesn’t even make sense, this person is literally just glad to see a piece of media where children are treated like capable human beings, which they are.
Oh, god. I just caught up with the series and I realised something. These tapes were never sent to John, were they? They were in the hidden compartment of her drawer. She never sent any of this to John. She’s even rewatched these tapes so she knows that they’re there. She really IS talking to an imaginary friend. A ghost, maybe. God that’s chilling.
@@CursedCassandra-wk6vqthere’s evidence for him being real or imaginary. For one why would John hide the tapes in a desk stuffed in a storage unit. We also don’t have any info on John, even if the information was going to be handed to him so he can make a book. Evidence for him being real is that the story was a book, but in the real world, so a bit of meta there. Julia also states to the girl that he’s not dead yet.
SPOILERS I was so worried in the beginning with the dad insisting that the daughter was wrong, to the point of being just plain mean. I was so worried that the brother was just going to be another teenage shithead that antagonizes their little sister for no reason. I was so worried that the therapist would have stayed in denial until it was too late. You subverted all of those frustrating tropes, and I absolutely can't tell you how refreshing that was! I wouldn't call this a scary story, per se, but I'm glad I saw this video. It was creative, engaging, and clever to the end. Thank you for sharing your work!
I like how Julia went from: "This kid is troubled and has quite the imagination" to "Yeah, it's totally the ghosts of a bunch of murdered kids" simply because she realized things weren't adding up, decided to do some investigating, and then actually _accepted her findings._ Too many people think being rational means rationalizing away anything that doesn't fit their world view, even when they have reason to suspect they might be wrong. Over all, this was a nice little ghost story.
She found articles relating to missing children with the same first names. There was no mention of surnames from the kid, nor was there a mention of the way each child died aside from Mia. Do you know how many people named Travis must exist in a given area? Surely more than one, especially given the time span of 10 years, and tragedy is so common the chances of a dart hitting someone with that name are all but guaranteed. You're all giving it way too much credit.
@@Alyrael Hold up. You're suggesting that this kid picked seven random names for her spooky imaginary friends - who all claim to be murder victims, by the way - and they _just happened_ to be the exact same names as those of a bunch of children who all went missing in the same region within the same decade? I'm not a mathematician but the odds of that occurring have got to be pretty damn astronomical. If it was just one, I could accept it, but _seven in a row?_ For crying out loud, one of them was named "Zak", and she even got the spelling right.
As others have said, the ending was really a pleasant surprise, and it was quite the tearjerker. But surprisingly, my true bawling moment wasn’t the end, but the scene where Adam tries to take Shelly’s hand. This little ghost girl following Jess’s father around, and then he is murdered and as he ascends he tries to take the hand of the little girl who is trapped in purgatory, take her with him to heaven but he can’t. She’s tethered. My dude…, when I say I insta-sobbed. Great job with this one, the art and music and atmosphere are A+, bonus points for the emotional story.
It definitely made me change my perspective of Adam. From him suddenly saying all the things people wanted to hear to the sudden vacation, at first I thought he was going to hurt his family and that the ghosts retaliated to keep them there/protect Jess. But after seeing him try to take Shelly with him the vacation may have just been a way to get out of the house and talk things out with his family. He turned out to be a good guy after all, but it just makes it more sad that he died.
The moment Doc realised that the children were remembering only pieces of their kidnnapings due to the heroin and she started putting Jess's drawings together in order i yelled out loud......completly baffled: Holy shit Julia is a goddamn GENIUS!
The part where Jess' dad tried to reach out and bring Shelly with him shattered me like glass. Oh my god, it hurt to read. But the ending was worth staying for- who am I kidding, _this whole thing_ is worth staying for.
"No one would ever believe it. I think it would be better to let these children rest." is such a beautiful line, and I can't believe people aren't mentioning that line.
Even though this is response is late I just want to say as a CSA and trafficking survivor, thank you. The way you wrote this was very respectful and done properly. This is a story about the victims and finding justice for them. The actual murder/abuse itself (and the people who did it) isn’t glorified and the main focus of the story is to give peace to those who were hurt by them. This genuinely got me emotional and hooked. Amazing job. ❤
I really like how Mia wasn't a bad ghost and it looked like she had a sweet and kinda cute relationship with Jess, I think it is because she was a little bit older then Jess. If I remember correctly I think the newspaper said at the time of her disappearance and death Mia was just 9 years old, which means she was two years older then Jess and I do still hold on to my theory of how she must have saw Jess as a little sister and that is why she was so pertective of Jess.
This is a masterclass in horror, not just because of the story itself but because Jess’ drawings force the viewer to imagine what these events looked like or what the spirits actually look or sound like. That alone creates a greater sense of fear then what outright showing the spirits themselves could ever create.
totally agree! it's something I really loved. It makes it more scary, since it is different for each person the way they imagine what the ghosts actually look like. So good *chef kiss*
I've read and watched too many series like this where the protagonist doesn't believe the kid until it's too late. Julia however, believed Jess from the start, and that's what I love about her. She doesn't treat Jess like any other guardian/authority figure would and just brush her aside, no, she listened. And because she listened, not only did she save Jess, she saved those children. The thing I love about this story too is that it has a happy ending. A gruesome one, but a happy one too. Edit: SHE WAS ALSO SO NICE TO THE KIDS TOO? LIKE SHE DIDN'T JUST BRUSH MIA OFF AS NOT REAL, SHE GREETED HER LIKE SHE GREETED JESS!
Burst into tears hearing Jess' voice.. oh my god. She misses her friends, but she's even happier that their suffering is over. This is the best analog horror series I've seen in such a long time. It especially hits close to home since my little sister didn't speak for a long time either. Wonderful work
the most unrealistic thing here is the fact that this kid can write full sentences without misspelling a single word 😭 Update: guys it's been almost a year since I posted this PLEASE let it go it was just a joke omg
The fact that this had a happy ending makes it more compelling than any other analog horror series. It’s so refreshing next to all the tired old “everything is hopeless and everyone and everything is doomed and probably deserves it” crap
Lets all be honest, we all wanted this to end that way. Anyway, this series was... actually quote cool, simple, perhaps cliché if you want, but truly exquisitely done.
@@elvingearmasterirma7241 of course, all movies are chuck full of clichés, problem is that it is impossible to avoid having at least 5 or 6 cliché in a specific setting and type of story because every story has been told before. This video is similar to some horror out there for sure, but the way he chooses to show it to us its very eerie and creepy, it forces you in a state of extreme emphaty
@@michelecastellotti9172 I also knew who the guilty ones were from the get go Buuut. I didnt stay for that. As you said, it forces you to empathise. I wanted to see what happens to the ghosts and to Jess Jess is adorable
Incredible. You managed to stick to your guns and tell a simple story with a satisfying ending. So many creators love to string along the narrative because of the enjoyment of waiting for the next clue or mystery. But you have done something even better, delivered a complete story. This is really a classic ghost story but told in a fresh way, and that really makes this special . Thank you.
@@vintageeight hey so can i ask a question. Are you going to expand on the world of this story or was it a one-shot kind of deal? Cause honestly Julia being a paranormal therapist that helps children on supernatural circunstances is a really amusing thought
@@houseofthewretched i know right!? Just imagine, a children psychiatrist that helps the agonized souls of children to move on while saving the lifes of the kids that can see them. And on those ventures she meets people with actual knowledge on the supernatural and ocult Like a child medium, or an exorcist priest, etc.
Although I'm not completely through the video yet, I have to give credit where credit is due: the earlier sessions are incredibly accurate to how therapy sessions would work with a very young child! The asking obvious questions to try and know more but also to sound friendly, but also sounding like Julia's sympathetic to Jess... masterfully crafted! This is an incredibly unique series as far as I can tell. Fantastic work.
Having Jess' side of the conversation conveyed through drawings overtop utter silence is an amazing storytelling device. And unsettling too! It lets just enough personality through while keeping the character and her thoughts, motivations, emotions, etc, ambiguous enough that the viewer fills in the rest of it, which is perfect for unraveling a mystery, especially in horror! Great work.
It's been about a year since a piece of horror media has touched me, and moved me to tears. I started bawling when Jess said "They're free now." Just knowing that those babies' suffering is over. I am so happy for them, but crushed it even happened, that they were in that hell.
A good analog horror sticks to its guns and remains simple, it doesn’t get complicated while trying to tell a story. This was a perfect example of this. You had the voiceover which kept your attention, while including the children’s drawings and written conversations between characters. Julia was rational as well, and when things didn’t add up she did the right thing by trusting her gut rather than putting the situation down to something clinical. This was a breath of fresh air, because the amount of times you get characters that refuse to accept things aren’t adding up and that it could be supernatural is ridiculous and infuriating. While I suspected it was the Clarks, mainly because it made the most sense since it was THEIR house, the reveal didn’t fail to give me goosebumps. The off-key, eery music playing as the drawings came together to form one whole picture, the words “the children only remember pieces” as Julia reaches the revelation herself was masterfully done and really has you saying “those sick bastards” at your screen while watching. The Adam and Shelly part of the story was so sad, especially when Shelly tells Jess that her dad tried to take her with him to heaven, but unfortunately she was trapped in the loop. I’d like to think Adam and Shelly reunited in heaven. It was nice to have an analog horror that ended happily, especially one based on missing children and their cold cases. Unfortunately, in reality, not every case ends this way. And to wrap it up, I think adding Jess’ little voice at the end truly makes the story hit home. You truly realise how young this little girl is, you remember the entire story in an even more horrific light as you imagine this baby suffering like this. I just think it was great that you added that. But man, I could ramble on and on, I apologise for the essay but this really was fantastic. Well done. ❤️
Especially when you get to the part where the Clarks invited Jess to their house for a drink. Julia didn't know at the time and i was so worried she was going to accept it, legit screaming at my screen like NO DONT GO. Imagining what could have happened if she did go was truly terrifying once you've pieced it together
After watching this, I’m so genuinely surprised nobody has fully covered this ARG. The drawings, the idea of a therapist logging this child, the idea is refreshing and done so, so well. This is my new favorite ARG of all time.
@@RedLight111No, it's not an augmented reality game. There's no game period, its just a story. An analog horror story. Sometimes ARGs incorporate video, including analog, into the game, but that doesn't mean every analog or horror video is apart of an ARG. So no, ppl cannot identify this as an ARG because that is incorrect. No hate though, just want to clarify.
This is an amazing story. The ending felt justified and well deserved, while the horror of what the kids must of looked like from the drawings and the unimaginable suffering they went through.. Absolutely beautiful! You have just earned yourself another subscriber!
The stories of the children and what they went through genuinely made me queasy to the point where I had to take a break from watching. Kudos, Vintage. Kudos.
I just finished watching the final episode about half an hour ago, and I gotta say, this and Monument Mythos have such a simple and intriguing style that it keeps me hooked the whole way through. Thank you for the surprisingly happy ending.
Bravo! No jump scare, loud glitches, distorted sounds, or any of that over used analog horror cliche. A simple recording log but tied neatly for us listeners to understand everything. I can nitpick on the excessive low fidelity graphics, or why a conversation between adults were depicted in hand writings instead of regular typing, and so on. But over all is great that I don't think such scrutiny are necessary. It got the build up, suspense, horror, climax, and even a conclusion. Its a rarity for this genre to have a conclusion but surprisingly feels good to have an end for a well written story. Thank you for making this story!
i wasn't expecting this whole bunch of emotions i felt while watching this, honestly. Julia was extremely smart but the amount of time she took to start looking over newspapers and just showing interest in Jess' drawings? it made me go insane for a second! and plus, the way the drawings were used to tell the story was simply amazing! and the ending? i have no words. the adrenaline and then finally peace for everyone who deserved it this is the best thing i've ever watched!
Oh man these are so good. I love the creepy crayon drawings I'm sure we're all done by hand. At first it's like "oh God the dad is a serial killer" and I thought he was using his daughter to lure in kids. Then the dad dies and it's so sad because he was always drawn Grey. He was probably just sad and overworked, but did love his daughter. Anyway between this, the tangi virus, and the oracle project it's been great I hope to find more like this.
Everything great about The Children Under The House (Spoilers, duh): 1- The adults aren't useless, they're just confused and dunno if should believe or not and Julia is the bestest among them. 2- Events illustrates by children drawings, awesome! The bestest of them was the plot twist. 3- Jess and Mia's friendship is so cuteee! 4- Money makes you insane and will ended up dead like the Clarks. 5- (WARNING OPINION) It's better than the Fnaf lore in general. Lastly- The analog horror finished with a bittersweet ending giving me such a satisfying feeling of being worth.
I honestly agree w/ number five, this and fnaf are really opposite in how simple storytelling doesn’t mean bad (cuth) and how needlessly complicated storytelling doesn’t mean good (fnaf)
@@bambooswaglord I'd like if Fnaf lore was about a vengeful ghost story when the murderer had killed 4 kids in the pizzaria and happily that monster was arrested, but the kids' spirits possessed one of the animatronics and wanted revenge on their murderer (though he's already arrested and maybe now dead) however they couldn't recognize the murderer who killed them, so anyone who enters the pizzaria and is meant to be killed by them. That's the kind of story I wanted to see on Fnaf, though I'm not really a Fnaf fan but I prefer ghosts possessing mascots than people becoming mascots in my opinion, though it was changed to children's souls they are in the animatronic's bodies.
good lord, i never thought i'd burst into tears because of an analog horror tape, but here i am, in a puddle on the floor SPOILERS BELOW!!!!! the return of the image of all the kids under the house going up to heaven, paired with the viewer hearing jess's voice for the first time felt like a one-two punch to the feels. i'm so glad this story had a confirmed happy ending, especially since the topics touched upon in this video often don't get that kind of end. The Children Under The House has an iron grip on horror, suspense, dread, sadness, and hope all at once.
This was actually probably one of the best analogue horrors I’ve ever read/watched it would’ve added to the scare to see the drawings in the perspective of Jess’s dad otherwise please continue making these they are phenomenal loved the ending.
Wow. An analog horror series that doesn't involve cosmic horror and actually has a happy ending for once. Somehow it makes it much more refreshing and the format kept me more engaged for once.
I know it's been too long since this was released. but MAN, this is the best analogue horror story I've ever seen/read. A great decision to include children's drawings and writing extracts, aside from giving a great terrorific atmosphere (because there is nothing scarier than children's drawings of supernatural events), it also keeps you focused and awake so you don't lose the thread. (SPOILER ALERT) I can't believe I've been in tears to finally hear Jess's voice saying "They're free." This really is a masterpiece. You have achieved something insuperable.
god, the ending left me satisfied! very rare to see a happy ending in analog horrors, and the characters and the story had superb writing which kept me hooked :y
This was one of the greatest analogue horror I have ever watched, and believe me I have seen plenty. I love how the story is told through a child’s drawings, it makes it more unsettling since you’d expect an innocent little girl to be completely normal and draw cute simple things like flowers and puppies. Julia is a wonderful therapist and I love how she began to believe Jess despite how nonsensical her story sounded, rather than just trying to put together a logical answer like John (typical John behaviour.) And at one point in the video when Jess showed her drawings to Julia, my jaw completely dropped when I saw that burger sign. Everything clicked. I already had my suspicions towards the Clarks since the ghost were located in the basement of their old home but that drawing confirmed it for me, and the faces drawn in the windows in the next drawings solidified my theory, it looked like them. I feel so terribly sorry for the innocent children and no words can describe how happy I felt when karma hit the Clarks right in their faces and the children were finally free and got their revenge. I admit the ending made me emotional and I teared up, and Jess’s voice was just adorable. This is now one of my favourite videos on the Internet.
A few more things I forgot to mention in my original comment: - I think it’s incredibly sad that Adam had to die by the hands of that old bastard Clark, right after he chose to become a better father and better husband for his family - The drawing where Adam was reaching out to Shelly and try to set her free, while the little girl desperately tried to hold his hand with no success saddened me - I think it was genius how it turns out every drawing were little pieces of one large drawing depicting the event that changed the lives of those poor children forever, it made alot of sense since Jess kept saying they only remembered small pieces of what happened. - And lastly I found the drawings of the dead children terrifying, especially Kate, though it broke my heart when Jess said every hand represented the hands of the people who hurt her. I can’t imagine what happened to that poor little sweetheart, and the other children.
You, my friend, are a master of your craft. This now ranks in my top analogue horrors. This was saddening, hopeful, mysterious, beautiful, and extremely concerning. Your style is refreshing and I feel like everything was placed and paced perfectly. The drawings, the one-sided (vocal) conversations.. I’ve seen some disturbing children’s drawings and the ones presented and used in this story really rounded everything out for me. I cannot wait for any future projects of yours. I am now a subscriber for life. Thank you so much for this!
'The Children under the house' was such a terrific story. It had it's suspense, the drama, the climax, the plot, the whole sha-bang!! There were scary moments, sad moments, even happy moments. I was glad it wasn't all just scary horror stuff. There was more substance to it. I don't know, it's just hard explain why I love it so much. And I'm glad it got a happy ending. Some stories, they have good plot, the horror is great but when the bad guys don't get punished at the end of the day it just isn't satisfying enough. Truly the greatest piece of ghost story I've ever seen in ages.
I just finished watching and... wow. Loved the way you handled storytelling and its pacing, you kept me hooked for all the duration. I must appreciate the way you wrote the characters, such realistic writing, and the use of the childs drawing, totally an underused idea for how effective it is. This absolutely deserves more attention!
This is one of the best analog horror series ive ever watched. I was screaming "ITS THE CLARKS" basically the whole time lol but it didnt dawn on me until towards the end that jess never specified which house the kids were under because they were never under HER house. They were under the houses of the monsters they were sold to.
This is such a hidden gem. The story was engaging, even if it wasn't exactly a mystery (not a bad thing!). The characters, especially of the ghostly variety, felt realistic and worth following to the melancholic end. Telling the story through child's drawings was very smart and incredibly well done, especially with how the puzzle pieces fell together by the end. I'm very excited to see more from you and this world in the future! If you'd like some advice from an immersion perspective, there were a few things that I think could use some improvement. For example, Julia sounded more like she was reading from a script and less like she was speaking to a child in a recorded session. Maybe this is because she was meant to be reading the questions in post, but I think it would've been more immersive if she sounded like she was actually having a conversation with Jess and reacting to her during the session. Also, as someone mentioned before I think Jess was occasionally verbose for her age. This last part is less of a criticism and more of a personal opinion, but I don't think the dad needed to die to move the story along. I feel like it was an unnecessary risk for the killers to take considering the town was already unlikely to believe a little girl's ghost story, on top of it feeling more like shock factor and less something that actually impacted the characters. Also it just made me sad lol. Overall, everything you do is very well done and always has me wanting more, so kudos to you!
Well, that's how children's therapists are. They ask scripted questions because they need to assume that the kid is slow and receptive only with reward promises. I had one for a while, they do that in training and practice to make sure things go smoothly so they can reciprocate the results to the parents.
This is outstanding. I can't emphasize enough what a creation this is. From the innocent yet disturbing child's drawings of a little girl severed in two, and a child with a broken neck, to the uneasy music of only a few notes repeatedly playing in the background that gives a creeping sense of dread, the whole thing had me pulled in from the start. This would make one hell of a horror movie, and you should consider making it a screenplay. Well do e.
This was the most wholesome analog horror I have ever watched/read. I actually teared up near the end too. I was so emotionally invested, wanting to hug the kids. ;w; Sure it was pretty simple and you have an idea what’s gonna happen, but I still loved it! There were definitely moments where I had my doubts and thought otherwise, like assuming John being a ghost, thinking the dad wanted to lead his family away from the house, but I’m glad it ended the way it did. As for critiques, I’ll admit Jess sounded a bit too smart for her age with that vocabulary but I didn’t mind it as much. I just love the drawings and how they were used here. Usually in stories you have them play a small part for creep factor for the creepy child, but to have them be the main focus, and as a way to tell the story? Brilliant! Julia was a great lead protagonist, and I enjoyed how she quickly came around and wanted to help as best she could. Her notes along with John were great, allowing us to see more into her life. I just love how real this all felt, with the characters and just everything. And I’m just glad you played this story straight instead of making it sad and dark for the sake. Overall this was simply wonderful, and an amazing job. Ps. I stayed up till 3am watching this. I couldn’t stop. It was THAT GOOD. :,)
The usage of disturbing children’s drawings for a (basically) horror movie is incredible. I was on edge 5 minutes in. I used to work with kiddos and some of the stuff they said was uncomfortable because they haven’t formed that filter between brain and mouth. So utilizing that unfiltered thought process for a horror story that’s more dread than “ah spooky” is great. And I’m also happy to see finally a good ending to story. IT IS PERFECTLY FINE TO HAVE A GOOD ENDING! In a lot of modern stories, we want the characters to win and be okay, not suffer. A good ending for a horror story is absolutely fine if you make the characters realistic and likable. All that is a basic way of me saying 10/10 absolutely fantastic, you had a chokehold on me immediately.
It is so refreshing to see a happy ending for an analog horror series, and nonetheless an ending that brought a tear to my eye I found this series incredible, well written and structured, with an unsettling and mysterious ambiance. It genuinely moved me and became one of my favorite analog horror out there thank you for this, you did an amazing job
honestly out of all analog horror creeators, even the big ones like local 58, gemini, and mandela I think you make the most unsettling videos. The fact that they seem much more grounded in reality and don't have jumpscares or screamers make them 10x scarier. Great job!
O M G. I just finished watching this and I might have to rewatch it AGAIN! It's just THAT good. I've always been fascinated about detective type things, but when I watched this, I think that being a therapist is a really important job. Imagine having to knock down the obstacles in this insane case, then almost get killed, like GEEZ. I love how the story is presented in childrens books and therapy sessions because I love art and it's honestly the easiest way to focus and not get bored for me. I'm definitely going to share this story with my friends. To be honest this has to be one of the best videos i've ever watched. It's just such a heart wrenching, bittersweet story that ends with an actual happy ending (unlike most ARG). I somehow relate to this story with being abused in friendships, but I'm not elaborating in case that triggers others because it will definitely trigger me. Thank you for making this amazing masterpiece. ALSO THE VOICE OF JESS IS SO HEARTBREAKING ONCE YOU REALIZE SHES 7 (because you forget over time) AND THEN YOU REALIZE SHES BEEN SEEING THESE BLOODY GOREY GHOSTS LIKE AAAAAAAAAAAA
Finding this a bit late, but wow. This is done so well. The concept of "the kids see things that the adults can't" works perfectly in horror, and you just used it so perfectly. I loved how simple it was as well. Just audio and pictures. Definitely checking out your other works after finding this absolute gem
This is so well planned, the storyline was d o p e, scary without noises or jumpscares, just text and children's drawings and a therapist dialogue, and I am now scared for my life. 11/10
That was fantastic. I was hooked from the beginning. It feels really fresh and the use of the kid's drawings was clever and very effective. I love it. Also the happy ending was a fresh element in analog horror in general. You earned a new fan c: greetings from Mexico.
I'm not done yet but I'm so invested! I usually can't handle watching long form content because of my ADHD but I HAVE to know what happens next! So far the story telling and writing has been amazing! I'll edit this comment if I have anything more to add later !SPOILERS BELOW! Edit: IM SO GLAD IT HAD A HAPPY ENDING! It brought a tear to my eye to see them all happy. The Clarks got what they deserved and the kids can finally move on. Hearing what happened to them was heart breaking, but I'm so glad they're finally happy! Same with Jess! I'm tearing up just writing this!
this is the best analog horror series ever. i really love the horror but you showed other emotions like sadness and happiness, but ima you also showed a more metaphorical and mental part of this series, the father moving on and the kids also moving on after years of torture shows a more "accepting your trauma" part and moving on in life.
Waited for the entire movie, that's so amazing. I'm not the sensitive one, but your analog horrors never fails to make me tremble. Like, background music, dialogues and drawings themselves are so harmonizing with each other omg. Thank you for your fascinating work
The ending hit like a jigsaw movie wtf the fact everything pieces together and when the kids remembered and the pictures of the ghosts remembering was fire probably one of the best things I have saw on UA-cam
Whoever is behind these series is hugely talented, all the effects and the mood behind these are stunning, let alone how the IRL footage is incorporated in the Tangi Virus series.
this was such an amazing story. and the ending was so sweet, with everyone finally being able to rest peacefully, not having to be in pain anymore, and jess finally being able to speak again. it lowkey made me tear up. the story telling conveyed through drawings added a nice hint of mystery in the beginning. this is a masterpiece.
Goddamn I LOVE a horriffically disturbing story with a happy and satisfying ending! Not only is the ride thrilling, but it's all worth it in the end to see the characters in a better place. It helps me stay more positive after listening to darker stories like this, especially when so many details are based in reality. It's both satisfying and shedding light on a really important topic :) Edit: OH MY GOD I JUST HEARD HER SPEAK AAAAAAAAAAAAA
I recently found this through another channel, and I have to say this is one of THE best pieces of analog horror out there--breaching what would often be considered analog horror and instead being a full-on story, written with passion. I'm not a big fan of books or stories, I only stick around when I'm hooked, and this was one of those. I wouldn't have ever expected some of these twists and turns within the story, it always keeps you on edge and sometimes hits hard. Very much worth my time and worth anyone else's, absolutely incredible.
Man, this video radiates such a "cursed" energy. It's very unnerving and I feel a bit jumpy at my curtains moving now. It probably doesn't help that my house has an "under" part to it as well.
I love the way the point of view of the adults and Jess is separated through drawings, showing the child's point of view, innocent, and the dialogue of the adults with a darker background. I kept imagining the children's ghosts in a more realistic way than portrayed in the drawings, it's scary... I loved everything here, love from Brazil 🇧🇷
A beautiful work, I found this from EmortalMarcus’ channel and it’s surprising how invested I was in this. It’s just so good! Kinda sad the character I share a name with got killed right when he was turning himself around tho 😢
this video means absolutely EVERYTHING to me. i love how everything tied up in the end (and tangipoha parish.. i see you there) and how it was a happy ending, we need more of that! also adore how you could tell the drawings were connected when they were shown, part of the reason why i figured out bits and pieces of the mystery at first. SPEAKING OF THE MYSTERY, its amazing how you were able to reveal it bit by bit without giving the answer, but when you did, everything suddenly clicked. i adore this video from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for the masterpiece!!
Saw this thanks to 8-bit Ryan, decided to like and view it by myself, since this deserves more attention. With a lot of analog horrors having gross images, jumpscares and a bad/sad ending, this was a nice change of pace. Thank you for making this.
I don’t usually show much for emotions, especially as far as tears go (this is because of some shit i’ve been through, not really important to talk about right now.) and when Jess said ‘They’re free now’ it made my eyes INSTANTLY well up and about a second or so later I shed 2 tears, one from each eye. that is a lot for me, its like my version of absolutely bawling since usually my eyes will get wet extremely slowly and then maybe i’ll shed one tear or ill blink and my eyelashes stick to each other slightly from dampness (that is if i am very emotional, sometimes it just gets only a little wetter than usual on my eyes and then dries up after a second) this series made me oddly happy :) thank you.
This was incredible. It got recommended by UA-cam, and hell, it was a good recomendation. I am glad we got a happy ending and I really liked the way the story was presented. It's rare we get a story from a therapist's point of view, especially when the therapist isn't dismissive. I really appreciate it as one myself lol And having Jess speak to us through her drawings was a clever storytelling device. Fantastic work.
Love the sass on the kid. “Everyone gets to grow up, Jess.” “[NOT IF THEY ARE DEAD (huge red underlining)], IDIOT]” “Why do you think people would think you’re weird??” “[BECAUSE I AM, DUH, I LITERALLY SEE GHOSTS AND DONT SPEAK]”
This was a great series, I think it has a nice amount of suspense and mystery to keep you invested. My only real gripe was how monotoned Dr. Luu sounded especially when she got the call about Adam. Jess's hand writing also looks like an adult trying to emulate a child's hand writing; like it's still too clean despite Jess sounding like she's around 4-5 years old. But it's not bad, just my small nitpicks. Can't wait to watch the rest of your Analog Horror and short films!
There's always been something deeply unsettling to me about children's drawings, and I had always figured I was odd for thinking so. I think they hit somewhere along the uncanny valley for me. Bodies with strange proportions, weirdly shaped objects and things that are hard to distinguish. Plus, kids are so imaginative, so they often leave me wondering what the thing they are drawing looks like to them and that not knowing and trying to imagine what they see is unsettling
Hey, V-8! I just finished seeing this video via Loey Lane's reaction video! I just wanted to pop in here onto the actual video to let you know this was a great story! This should be a movie! It would be great! If the suspense and mystery was this gripping on a simple UA-cam video, I can only imagine how much greater it could be as a full motion picture production! Great work!
this is one of the best analog horrors ive seen. usually with long ones like this, i get bored and watch something else. i managed to stay the entire hour and 19 mins. it was so detailed and slightly scary and mysterious. there is so much effort put in and i can tell :)
I really loved this, the story was compelling, the use of the drawings was wonderful, the Clarks were great villains, and All of the characters were wonderfully expressed, even her father. My favorite part, though, is that there was a happy ending- I don't think I've seen that in any analogue horror
The final Jess's drawing almost made me cry I really can't express this enough how much the ending made the story it's always a given for these kinds of stories to have a bad ending, but... this is so much more impactful that way, at least for me tragedy may linger, but what's the point of that lingering if it's just so disappointing in the end, right? like remembering an embarrassing thing you did this may rest in my mind and heart for a while, such, such an amazing story..
The whole story was so well told, and I was so immersed in it. But when the killers were revealed, I was so shocked. I didn’t even expect it, just thought they were some extras, not vital clues. When the pictures were pieced together, it all clicked and all the strange, random facts became the biggest indicators.
Wow, just wow. This is the first time I've ever cried watching these types of things. Even more was instead of crying for a bad end like what I would have expected, I cried out of happiness. Bravo, vintage.
1:01:07 *"Said we could talk over lemonade."* I kid you not, my heart DROPPED when I saw that sentence, I felt my soul getting washed over by an intense wave of fear. I already knew the Clarks were the ones who did it, and since I have a messed up mind. My mind instantly clicks that the Clarks will lace that lemonade to stop Miss.Julia from getting near to the children's case. Oh my goodness, bravo bravo. The method of lacing another's beverage is common but I never seen anyone use it for their projects. This analog horror will always be engraved in my mind.
When Burger Shack was first mentioned, I had a suspicion that that's where the physical evidence was destroyed, but even if that's not the case, it's still a creepy and well told story.
This was an absolutely GRIPPING story from start to finish and a wonderful refreshing take on analog horror in general. Honestly couldn't praise or recommend enough. The love and effort that was put into this from the writing, to the voice acting, and the drawings that will literally haunt my dreams for the next month. Bravo I hope to see your channel and subscribers grow exponentially at the rate your talent so clearly deserves!
From start to finish, this series has got to be up there in my top 3 favorite series in the analogue horror genre. This personally strikes a nerve because violence against children is on of the worst things a person can do-- fictional or IRL. Thank you to you Vintage Eight & everyone else who worked on it for bringing such a fantastic story. I wish you the best on all future creative endeavors!
I was so terrified that it would just end with a tragic ending but it was so good, it was so just and RIGHT and agh I can't express how much I love this.
Two reasons this series is great
. The use of children's drawings help enhance the horror of the situation
. It has a happy ending. Something extremely rare in most analog horror
Agreed.
The whole story feels like you're being taken on a journey into darkness and you come out the other side into the light, feeling like you've learned something.

Thank you for the incredible comment!
that's what literally a therapist should do.
THaT is,so true
❤
😮❤
The storage locker could have belonged to John. It never said the storage locker belonged to Julia, just that some of her things were found in there
@@CursedCassandra-wk6vqthere’s evidence for him being real or imaginary.
SPOILERS
I was so worried in the beginning with the dad insisting that the daughter was wrong, to the point of being just plain mean.
Thanks so much!
I started crying at the note Adam wrote to Jess; “I’m ready to start believing you” 🥹
when the pictures all came together I was genuinely shocked!
I like how Julia went from: "This kid is troubled and has quite the imagination" to "Yeah, it's totally the ghosts of a bunch of murdered kids" simply because she realized things weren't adding up, decided to do some investigating, and then actually _accepted her findings._
Too many people think being rational means rationalizing away anything that doesn't fit their world view, even when they have reason to suspect they might be wrong.
Over all, this was a nice little ghost story.
For real Julia migth just be one of the smartests horro midia protag because of that and her general way of thinking.
If it was just one, I could accept it, but _seven in a row?_
For crying out loud, one of them was named "Zak", and she even got the spelling right.
Ikr? Julia has such character development :)

For real dude Adam was such a fucking g for trying, luckily she still escaped in the end.
luckily i read this right after seeing that
It definitely made me change my perspective of Adam.
@@clanka7147 when Adam went to heaven, he invited himself into heaven.

Thank you so much!
no problem ^^ @@vintageeight
"Horror"
@@ellocosjchushhxhaAww, what’s wrong? Sad it didn’t end on the typical downer ending every one of these things usually has?
Wonderful work
I hope your sister is doing better
the most unrealistic thing here is the fact that this kid can write full sentences without misspelling a single word 😭
Update: guys it's been almost a year since I posted this PLEASE let it go it was just a joke omg
Lol
maybe that was her TRUE supernatural power
The ghosts did it
Kids aren't dumb. Plenty can do that easily
Maybe her therapist helped her with the writing
The fact that this had a happy ending makes it more compelling than any other analog horror series. It’s so refreshing next to all the tired old “everything is hopeless and everyone and everything is doomed and probably deserves it” crap
I’m glad you enjoyed it. I don’t do too many of those. Smaller stories seem more realistic

Like a child medium, or an exorcist priest, etc.
Thanks for watching!
I started bawling when Jess said "They're free now."
Just knowing that those babies' suffering is over.
Well done. ❤️
Thank you so much!
Especially when you get to the part where the Clarks invited Jess to their house for a drink. Julia didn't know at the time and i was so worried she was going to accept it, legit screaming at my screen like NO DONT GO. Imagining what could have happened if she did go was truly terrifying once you've pieced it together

What I love about this having a happy ending is it isn’t unfulfilling or unrealistic it’s bittersweet in a way, this was beautiful
Everything great about The Children Under The House (Spoilers, duh):
1- The adults aren't useless, they're just confused and dunno if should believe or not and Julia is the bestest among them.

@@bambooswaglord
I'd like if Fnaf lore was about a vengeful ghost story when the murderer had killed 4 kids in the pizzaria and happily that monster was arrested, but the kids' spirits possessed one of the animatronics and wanted revenge on their murderer (though he's already arrested and maybe now dead) however they couldn't recognize the murderer who killed them, so anyone who enters the pizzaria and is meant to be killed by them.
That's the kind of story I wanted to see on Fnaf, though I'm not really a Fnaf fan but I prefer ghosts possessing mascots than people becoming mascots in my opinion, though it was changed to children's souls they are in the animatronic's bodies.

agree!! it's just wonderful from beginning to end
Faxx
"they told me" coldest line in the whole analog horror genre
This was actually probably one of the best analogue horrors I’ve ever read/watched it would’ve added to the scare to see the drawings in the perspective of Jess’s dad otherwise please continue making these they are phenomenal loved the ending.
Thank you!
Two months late, but your very welcome.
Wow. An analog horror series that doesn't involve cosmic horror and actually has a happy ending for once. Somehow it makes it much more refreshing and the format kept me more engaged for once.
> she ask me to come over for lemonade several times. I of course declined.
Ms. Therapist dodged a bullet.
(SPOILER ALERT)
I can't believe I've been in tears to finally hear Jess's voice saying "They're free."
This really is a masterpiece.
A few more things I forgot to mention in my original comment:
- I think it’s incredibly sad that Adam had to die by the hands of that old bastard Clark, right after he chose to become a better father and better husband for his family
- The drawing where Adam was reaching out to Shelly and try to set her free, while the little girl desperately tried to hold his hand with no success saddened me
- I think it was genius how it turns out every drawing were little pieces of one large drawing depicting the event that changed the lives of those poor children forever, it made alot of sense since Jess kept saying they only remembered small pieces of what happened.
Thank you so much!
Thanks so much!
It’s horror, not mystery
@@StoneCorazon Well, it can be both, like Monument Mythos.
And the adults aren't stupid, I think they're confused about believe or not if this is real or not and that's a good point.
Well, that's how children's therapists are. They ask scripted questions because they need to assume that the kid is slow and receptive only with reward promises. I had one for a while, they do that in training and practice to make sure things go smoothly so they can reciprocate the results to the parents.
@@anglepsycho I'm curious, how children's therapists are treated without be in this analog drama?
This is outstanding. I can't emphasize enough what a creation this is. From the innocent yet disturbing child's drawings of a little girl severed in two, and a child with a broken neck, to the uneasy music of only a few notes repeatedly playing in the background that gives a creeping sense of dread, the whole thing had me pulled in from the start. This would make one hell of a horror movie, and you should consider making it a screenplay. Well do e.
This was the most wholesome analog horror I have ever watched/read. I actually teared up near the end too. I was so emotionally invested, wanting to hug the kids. ;w;
Sure it was pretty simple and you have an idea what’s gonna happen, but I still loved it!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you!
It is so refreshing to see a happy ending for an analog horror series, and nonetheless an ending that brought a tear to my eye
I found this series incredible, well written and structured, with an unsettling and mysterious ambiance. It genuinely moved me and became one of my favorite analog horror out there
thank you for this, you did an amazing job
Thank you for the comment!
honestly out of all analog horror creeators, even the big ones like local 58, gemini, and mandela
I think you make the most unsettling videos. The fact that they seem much more grounded in reality and don't have jumpscares or screamers make them 10x scarier. Great job!
Thanks so much!
Moral of the story: *Don’t buy a repossessed storage locker with an old desk, an outdated computer, and a filing cabinet inside of it.*
Enjoyed the series a lot, really liked the concept of using kid’s drawings in storytelling, leaves a lot for interpretation 🥰
This is one of the best (if not the best) analog horror series I've ever seen! Kudos, this is a masterpiece!!!
I'm just gonna watch it. Let's see if it is a Masterpiece. Edit: Yep! It was amazing from start to finish.
That was fantastic. I was hooked from the beginning. It feels really fresh and the use of the kid's drawings was clever and very effective. I love it. Also the happy ending was a fresh element in analog horror in general. You earned a new fan c: greetings from Mexico.
Welcome!
I'm not done yet but I'm so invested! I usually can't handle watching long form content because of my ADHD but I HAVE to know what happens next! So far the story telling and writing has been amazing! I'll edit this comment if I have anything more to add later
!SPOILERS BELOW!
Thank you!
I liked that the dad tried to bring Shelly with him
Waited for the entire movie, that's so amazing. I'm not the sensitive one, but your analog horrors never fails to make me tremble. Like, background music, dialogues and drawings themselves are so harmonizing with each other omg. Thank you for your fascinating work
REALLL!!
The ending hit like a jigsaw movie wtf the fact everything pieces together and when the kids remembered and the pictures of the ghosts remembering was fire probably one of the best things I have saw on UA-cam
Glad you enjoyed it!
Whoever is behind these series is hugely talented, all the effects and the mood behind these are stunning, let alone how the IRL footage is incorporated in the Tangi Virus series.
Thanks!
i really love the use of the crayon drawings it makes it super spooky
this was such an amazing story. and the ending was so sweet, with everyone finally being able to rest peacefully, not having to be in pain anymore, and jess finally being able to speak again. it lowkey made me tear up. the story telling conveyed through drawings added a nice hint of mystery in the beginning. this is a masterpiece.
Came from another youtuber just to say that this is fantastic, its been long since I've so immersed.
Which UA-camr?
Goddamn I LOVE a horriffically disturbing story with a happy and satisfying ending! Not only is the ride thrilling, but it's all worth it in the end to see the characters in a better place. It helps me stay more positive after listening to darker stories like this, especially when so many details are based in reality. It's both satisfying and shedding light on a really important topic :)
Edit: OH MY GOD I JUST HEARD HER SPEAK AAAAAAAAAAAAA
Dr Luu was seriously like, "SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIENDS!"
Nice!
I instantly started crying when i heard Jess' voice, hit me like a truck, this is one of the best args I've ever seen
A beautiful work, I found this from EmortalMarcus’ channel and it’s surprising how invested I was in this. It’s just so good!
Kinda sad the character I share a name with got killed right when he was turning himself around tho 😢
That was amazing, so glad I gave this a shot. Great story telling and great visuals
this video means absolutely EVERYTHING to me. i love how everything tied up in the end (and tangipoha parish.. i see you there) and how it was a happy ending, we need more of that! also adore how you could tell the drawings were connected when they were shown, part of the reason why i figured out bits and pieces of the mystery at first.
Thanks so much!
Love the sass on the kid.
“Everyone gets to grow up, Jess.” “[NOT IF THEY ARE DEAD (huge red underlining)], IDIOT]”
“Why do you think people would think you’re weird??” “[BECAUSE I AM, DUH, I LITERALLY SEE GHOSTS AND DONT SPEAK]”
Great work!
For real! I’d be so cool if they actually made a movie about this! I’d absolutely would see it!
this is one of the best analog horrors ive seen. usually with long ones like this, i get bored and watch something else. i managed to stay the entire hour and 19 mins. it was so detailed and slightly scary and mysterious. there is so much effort put in and i can tell :)
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
* and 18 seconds
a satisfying happy ending to an otherwise tragic and horrific story? ill take it. lovely voicework too. thank you for the great story
I really loved this, the story was compelling, the use of the drawings was wonderful, the Clarks were great villains, and All of the characters were wonderfully expressed, even her father. My favorite part, though, is that there was a happy ending- I don't think I've seen that in any analogue horror
The final Jess's drawing almost made me cry
I really can't express this enough how much the ending made the story
it's always a given for these kinds of stories to have a bad ending, but... this is so much more impactful that way, at least for me
tragedy may linger, but what's the point of that lingering if it's just so disappointing in the end, right? like remembering an embarrassing thing you did
this may rest in my mind and heart for a while, such, such an amazing story..
Thank you so much!
The whole story was so well told, and I was so immersed in it. But when the killers were revealed, I was so shocked. I didn’t even expect it, just thought they were some extras, not vital clues. When the pictures were pieced together, it all clicked and all the strange, random facts became the biggest indicators.
i legit cried at the end, it was such a happy ending and we usually don't get that in analog horrors. this has to be one of my favorites ive ever seen
Wow, just wow. This is the first time I've ever cried watching these types of things. Even more was instead of crying for a bad end like what I would have expected, I cried out of happiness.
Bravo, vintage.
Thank you for the comment! I really tried for something different and special.
