What part of this does Conrad not understand, AEW can not even fill a 10,000 seat arena in America, what makes him think they can fill a 50,000 baseball stadium in Texas, it makes no sense.
...the huge difference is the WWE had Vince...WCW had Eric...WWE now has HHH...men who have DECADES of experience to make decisions based on actual insight into the professional wrestling business...to know where they can make the most impact to put on their shows...
...all Tony has is Dave Metzler and whatever his gut tells him to do that day...and neither one has produced much growth or interest from 5 years ago when they were seen as a legitimate threat and alternative...
...AEW is no longer the alternative to WWE...now it operates more like a way station...for indie wrestlers who want exposure to do their moves and spots and get WWE's attention...for former WWE stars past their prime to stretch out that last bit of gas in their tanks...former WWE who use it to reinvent themselves or recharge their batteries before eventually going back...or worse, ones who are saddled with either being too reckless in the ring, too green with little to no interest in growth or bringing a toxic element to a lockerroom...
...WWE is way too massive to be placed on the same level as AEW...especially now that they have a BILLION DOLLAR deal with Netflix and moving live wrestling shows to streaming...if anything, AEW is competing with NXT and to a lesser extent TNA to be at their respective level...
I agree AEW ain't in WWEs league, but to be honest they were never going to be because of the 35 year headstart. AEW is still far bigger than TNA, which can barely draw 2,500 a few times a year let alone every week.

AEW lost me two years ago. They just aren't interesting. I really was excited for them at first and wanted to see them succeed and get better and better, but it just hasn't happened. I couldn't justify paying $35 a month for a Sling account to specifically watch a show that seemed like a few banger matches for the die hards amongst the unfinished or "hyped up then letdown" storylines. Even FTR, who was one of my favorites isn't even interesting anymore because of the sporadic booking and storylines that go nowhere. And Moxley, who at first seemed like an edgier, cooler Dean Ambrose in the beginning, just wants to show everyone how much blood he can draw. Not interesting or edge of seat entertainment. The casual fan like me are part of that real drop in viewship. AEW may still be cool to the die hards, but that is why it will always be a niche promotion to it's roughly 600k fans who tune in each week and nothing more.
Absolutely right. I watched AEW for four years, and finally had to stop. I realized it was getting worse, not better. Instead of learning from mistakes they doubled down on them. I feel it might be hopeless.

At least we know the exact date when the demise of AEW is coming. One year from now, when they can't fill up even half of the stadium and can't hide it with curtains like they can in an arena and everyone sees it. There are only 4k tickets available at the minute for Wembley. I think they'll shift the majority of those day-of. Last year they sold 81k (granted, 9k of those were scalpers who bought too many and couldn't off-load them so only 72k actually entered the stadium) out of a possible 83k. They tend to get pretty bloody close to a sell-out at Wembley. Although Taylor Swift deserves a big thank you from TK this year for making it so they only had 53k tickets on offer this year! 😂

People need to stop talking about AEW like its a wrestling company. WWE is a wrestling company that's in the business of drawing large audiences and getting ratings. AEW is Tony Khan's hobby. Every kid who is a wrestling fan did the fantasy booking thing where you made up a promotion and made matches. Tony is doing the same thing he did as a kid but since he is a billionaire he bought himself live wrestlers to fantasy book. AEW's goal is not to draw crowds, ratings, or even make money. It's sole purpose is to entertain Tony Khan. If AEW were a real wrestling company it would have went bankrupt and closed down a couple years ago. It will stay in business as long as Tony still enjoys his hobby enough to continue pumping money into it. AEW and WWE are not the same.
A hobby that will soon get a big TV deal and make the business profitable in year 6. All while going against and sometimes beating a juggernaut competitor.

I grew up in Houston so I have heard about the Von Erichs before. But were they ever really big in Dallas? I don't think most people appreciate just how big Texas is and how far their big cities are from one another. Houston to Dallas is about as far as London to Paris.

For Collision and Dynamite shows they get about 2000 to 4000 seats with the PPVs doing about 10000 to 12000. Not sure how they expect to jump up to near 40000 to fill out a baseballstadium.

It's not just that the stadium has A.C. It's the fact people like to do stuff around the area before or after the event, and summertime in DFW area is absolutely brutal.
Day 1 AEW fan even went to All In 2023 because… Wembley. I am in agreement finally with Eric that AEW is on a down trend. People are not as into the product and it’s due to them not progressing off the hype they had. It feels like the same as 5 years ago but the stories are still B- and we are lucky to get 3 matches on dynamite due to all the promos and talking.
If they want a soap opera at least do it well!
Here's the funny part, Tony is paying these cities to put his show in their building. Where on the other hand WWE is getting calls from cities and countries to put a show over there so how do you make any money or any profit if you're spending all this money to put a show in a stadium that you can't even fill up?

Conrad, the UK is a starved audience who doesn't get big wrestling shows all the time like the United States does. the 2 dozen fans you know that are going to AEW All In, is what is known as anecdotal evidence and isn't a good indicator for anything, especially given that you are a big figure in the wrestling scene and given that you are an AEW fanatic. Those two things make it much more likely that you personally would know a lot more people going to the AEW show than the average person, I for example know no people who have gone to any AEW shows because I live in Australia, but again that is only anecdotal and based on my experience rather than real accumulative data.

@@duckmercy11 I mean it’s one venue lol this is why people laugh at AEW and its mark fans. WWE could do that easily but they do it all the time on different places. AFW can only do it in one place and losing close to 30,000 fans in one year is not good. Keep burning that candle though

It’s hard to tell if these bits of Conrad hyping AEW, and Eric shooting it down with logic and reality, are true reflections of Conrad’s opinions. It always makes for an entertaining segment, so at this point maybe it’s a “spot” they run because it always satisfies the audience that largely disagree with Conrad’s blind optimism and wants to see him rebuked. At this point it’s hard to believe Conrad, an apparently very intelligent and successful sane adult, can be so oblivious to the signs the market have given AEW - in short, we don’t care.
