Actually the original name of Fancy Bazar is 'Fasi' Bazar. 'Fasi' means 'death by hanging', probably due to the people that were hanged in the old jail complex, the walls of which can be still found in the market. I guess 'Fasi' doesn't sound that nice for a market so it got renamed into 'Fancy' bazar. Some of the old Assamese folk still call it as 'Fasi' Bazar though. Fancy bazar is a lot of things from being a wholesale market to a flea market to street food haven. Anyways welcome Davud to the incredible North East of India and to my beautiful state Assam. Hope you have a wonderful stay in here ❤.

I am from Assam , I have been watching your videos since last two years. I wish I could meet you in Assam & show the real hospitality of Assamese people.
Being an Indian, its my wish to explore north-east India someday. Its the least explored and the most uderrated part or India, people are nice, cities are cleaner and well organized and less chaotic, unlike northern and north central parts of India.

My advice go to a lil more rural areas of our northeast. Because most of the capital region of states are more or less a lil polluted😅😅 apart from that every place is a blessing.

Shillong is the capital of Meghalaya, another state of North East, it's a wonderful hill station not less than Switzerland 😊 don't miss it since you are very close to it. You will be amazed to see the stylish khasi people & modern architectural buildings like you find in modern cities

People who plan to visit Guwahati also visits Meghalaya as it is four hours ride from Guwahati and Meghalaya is called the Scotland of India because of it's natural beauty close to Darjeeling. The highest rainfall in the world is also recorded in Meghalaya's Mawsynram.

It's not pronounced Fancy. In Assamese its Faacy Bozar. Faacy means hanging. Probably got its name from the Jail Complex that was near this area. When you pronounce Faacy in Assamese, there's a nasal tone to it with a hint of 'N' sound. Idk how to explain it linguistically. There might be some expert watching your channel who will explain it. Anyway, so Faacy in Assamese is written as Fancy in English due to that 'N' sound
Yes, this is the correct explanation. In Assamese we write ফাঁচী and it is pronounced “Pha(n)si” in English (with a hint of nasal N sound) because of the “ফঁ” or the symbol above “ফ”. Why Phansi changed to Fancy is pretty self explanatory I guess. Ease of usage.
