I wanted to think something like this. Having just read some commentary about this piece which brought me here. I wanted to experience it fro myself. But (don't you all be mad at me...) - No. While it's beautiful music, I'm not moved in the way Mozart moves me. This, for example (for me..) - does not come close to Mozart's Kyrie Eleison. (I'm also a great fan of Mozart's Piano concertos - some of which passages nver fail to bring a tear of joy.

an absolute beauty, nothing has been composed like this before or after. It is said that the violin part represents Christ, starts with a very high note and comes down to earth, ends going up to high notes again.
Not really, it's the musician who is the master. Teachers can have their place but the person has to work hard. In an abstract sense everyone is self-taught.

This is a superbly realised version of this extraordinary piece of music - I love Harnoncourt's pacing and timbre. In comparison, most versions seem way too fast and clattery, they miss the mellow and plaintive heart which is the core of the piece. The violin is sensational and captures the mood perfectly, thank-you.
The call to worship is universal my friend. I love Christ but Bach, Handel, Scarlatti, Mozart….you become aware of something greater than any one of us, the universal call of music, the unity of all men
The depiction of the holy spirit through the song of the violin is sublime. I do wish the violin was a little more assertive, but the overall sweep of this piece remains too heavenly for words
Sometimes I still long For the memory of your smile I admit that it will take a while before I get over this It will be hard to bring back The love we left behind I've accepted and I'm learning to face this truth The song of my life goes on Even if the melody of your heart has change
This Harnoncourt "Missa" and the Dresden version with Fabio Luisi are the absolute BEST modern performances. Buy the DVD's! (The Thielemann version is only worth hearing for mezzo-soprano Elina Garanca's superb singing)
“The Benedictus. Blessed and blessing, this music is in some sort the equivalent of the night, of the deep and living darkness, into which, now in a single jet, now in a fine interweaving of melodies, now in pulsing and almost solid clots of harmonious sound, it pours itself, stanchlessly pours itself, like time, like the rising and falling, falling trajectories of a life. It is the equivalent of the night in another mode of being, as an essence is the equivalent of the flowers, from which it is distilled.” (Aldous Huxley)

There just may be a God after all . who else could inspire such beauty?
I defy anyone to find a more beautiful piece of music than this. Solo violin, soprano, chorus, God, and Beethoven. Doesn't get any better.
It’s impossible to find anything more beautiful than this. Beethoven is incomparable.
And the alto ;-)
I am going to unlike it just so I can like it again :-D
Mozart Great mass ;))

We just performed this with the Liverpool Phil (I'm in the chorus) and I had to hid my tears every time the violinist began this section
Beautiful words to share.

An overwhelming cry for peace since long time ago and so present in our times , where we think the world falls apart we need peace urgently
