Out of all this, weirdly enough the implementation of mesh shaders is what excites me the most. They can seriously improve things like frustum/occlusion culling, tessellation, and a whole load of other things related to altering a mesh that would usually take multiple more steps to do as information would have to be passed between different parts of the GPU and the CPU. The only big game to implement mesh shaders as far as I know is Alan Wake 2, so it'll be cool to see something new utilize them given how many applications they have that we haven't even seen in a game yet.

If they has just started doing external playtesting, so that means the game is still far from release. I saw fl0m posted that visited Valve HQ recently and I think it's because he was invited to do the playtesting for HLX. Expect late 2025 or pre-summer 2026 release. Valve is unlikely to release any new major content/game in the summer because they usually do a whole company Hawaii vacation trip. No ones gonna do urgent fixes update for it. Even CS2 was publicly released just right after summer of 2023.
Q2 2025 will be interesting with the Fremont console + Ibex controller + HL3 getting announced. Going for sale in Q3-4 2025, I reckon... but I'm worried about what that means for the Deckard and Roys which are supposed to also go on sale 2025.
@@basilaldwin DLSS still looks much better than having no DLSS/FSR and forcing shit TAA. If, we get it, then I for one will do everything I can to enjoy this game to its absolute fullest, the way the devs wanted us to all along. In the commentary of all their games, the devs always say they wanted people to enjoy environments, vistas, arenas, puzzles, they wanted us to enjoy combat, exploration, story. So, I’ll make sure to take my time, and enjoy this game to its fullest. They always said that’s what they wanted us to do, and I’ll be honest I didn’t listen to them when I was a kid. Dad and I would race to see who could beat the game faster. If, we get this game, I think we should all try to do that. We should also probably pray for those playtesters because if this is three god knows what they’re going to put those guys through. I think Gabe Newell just likes trolling them with stuff like the poison head crabs. Keeps him jolly.
I just hope they don’t lock next HL series behind RTX only bs. Consider Valve has been in-bracing AMD for steam deck and hopefully any future hardware. Like maybe steam consoles running steam os to show of HL3? That would be epic.
the almighty Gabe & Valve have stomped and ignored us for 20+ years i think all of us have given up hope or just don't want to put much expectation because the disappointment will be greater i think all of us just won't believe it until the words come out of Gabe mouth himself and a game trailer has been released...
1) Valve has admitted to putting references to 3 everywhere, like even 15 years ago every single steam sale header image had a 3 hidden in them one way or the other, today they still do, Valve is constantly trolling us, on purpose and with approval of the gaben. 2) Are you old enough to remember Valve ARG's etc? they actually love hiding some scavenger hunt in plain sight as a sort of marketing campaign, its not weird to think that they would maybe start a new ARG with that last comic.

But for the moment, I am finaly at peace with this.
If the play testing is happening of the next HL game, then I have one wish ... no leaks, for love of god, no leaks, I want to experience the next HL game when it releases!!!
we had little to no gameplay leaks of Half-Life: Alyx, so hopefully it will stay the same
Where does the footage at 1:27 come from? I don't remember snow in HL2
Project Borealis
As I struggle to find any redeeming quality in this piece of content that truly sucks, I can't help but feel a deep sense of frustration wash over me, as if every word drags me further into an abyss of disappointment, THIS video is great, i was talking about the sprunki gyatt song by benjiscarlett
help me
If they has just started doing external playtesting, so that means the game is still far from release.
I feel the hype is more and more intense through the years.
5:35 bro
the DLSS worries me, I hope HLX still has MSAA
Yeah DLSS looks like shit.
@@basilaldwin DLSS still looks much better than having no DLSS/FSR and forcing shit TAA. Nobody bothers to work with tuning TAA like Red Barrels did in The Outlast Trials, for example, so if it absolutely comes to having a no-effort anti-aliasing method thrown in a game for time's sake, it better be DLSS and not TAA or TSR.
DLSS at native res is just DLAA, theres no need to worry lol. As long as the game is super optimized its fine. And valve knows that the next Hl3 game must be accessible to everyone. I hope they wont frick us up
@@RawfunRahman DLAA still sucks compared to MSAA with proper specular anti aliasing. HLA looks like nothing else because of how it maintains all the tiny detail that DLAA or any temporal AA method would erase
I won't lie games without anti aliasing just look better especially 1440p and above you just genuinely don't need it at high resolution but of course you don't get benefits of upscaling
The cuda cores are possibly for audio raytracing as well. HL:A had a feature only for AMD GPUs called TrueAudio Next.
What's the game at the start you showed? The one looking similar to Half life 2 set in a snowy environment?
it's half-life 2: interlude
@@gabe.follower Ah okay thank you! I'll go search it up thanks!
Erik wolpaw the big pink cookie guy
Jiggle physics confirmed. Plot twist: HL3 will be a shrex sim after the destruction of the suppression field.

HL3 - Thanks, and have fun!
Fremont is a neighborhood in Seattle
What was that bro 😭😭 5:38
I just hope they don’t lock next HL series behind RTX only bs. Consider Valve has been in-bracing AMD for steam deck and hopefully any future hardware. Like maybe steam consoles running steam os to show of HL3? That would be epic.
Fremont is a reference to a neighborhood in Seattle just a few minutes from Valve lol. Probably also why Laidlaw chose that name
Thank you for this video!
The gravity system showcase has me wondering how we don't have a Super Mario galaxy with guns yet
the problem is that it might cause motion sickness in FPS games
is that the innovation valve is aiming for? swimming in VR?
i don't think it'll have vr support
5:36
That model was something too... specific
Have I ever told you the definition of insanity?
the almighty Gabe & Valve have stomped and ignored us for 20+ years
i think all of us have given up hope or just don't want to put much expectation because the disappointment will be greater
i think all of us just won't believe it until the words come out of Gabe mouth himself and a game trailer has been released...
8:10 that is one hell of a stretch man, honestly every "easter egg" in the comic aside from the crowbar is a large stretch.

I love the stalker music in the background :D
don't screw it up Valve I've been waiting for 2 decades now
bro even if they would announce it on stage, i still wouldnt believe this game will actually come out
Like the Stalker music in the background. cheeky breeky
whats the demo thing at 5:10?
3:04 why are u promoting gambling
Skins monkey ain't a gambling website
fr, you can make money off sponsorships without promoting an awful gambling website.
its not gambling, its a marketplace? bro probably watched a coffezilla vid and now acts like he has any clue about this stuff
Nice SOC Theme in the background
tyler mcvicker is running for his life rn hahaha
If they announce it next year it will be during or right after a possible Half Life Alyx 5th anniversary doc.
It's already 5 years since the announcement of it. I can't believe the time has passed so much because I still think HLA was just released recently.
TF2 is the only Valve game with a complete story. Damn that feels so backwards.
what comes first:
a. Half Life 3
b. new Frank Ocean album
Or next George R. R.Martin book?
Bro I got jump scared by the bikini Vindicta
I'd like to see HL1 redone in the latest Source engine while I wait for HL3
Valve, I can't fathom the fact we're finally getting 3rd Half Life game from you😭. I've never doubted you, Valve😭 😭
5:35 For the Science Team!
Remember, if HL3 is released, there will (possibly) be other titles and sequels.
Bro is waiting for HL4 while everyone else waits for HL3. So far ahead
Fremont is an iconic neighborhood in Seattle fyi.
We don't talk about the artifact incident
after i heard tf2 new comic dropped out i went read it all and i can say this, its a peak story
That gravity thing, isn't it very similar to the cut sticky paint from portal 2 that allows players to walk on walls? Valve is famous for recycling old cut content, so this is actually quite interesting
Legend says that on the year 3000 they will laaunch Half life 3
I knew it.
Half Life 3 confirmed for 2044 or earlier
Yep, Vindicta looking good
Valve can count past three and all the way to seven but they can’t count to three and stop
With the gravity mechanic I think in half-life 3 we wil be going back to zen or maybe even to the over world
yea, i discussed it in previous videos about HLX
xen is just my least favorite thing about HL. Idk how to describe it. Weird creepy space thingy with creatures. same reason why i didnt enjoy doom eternal. It just freaks me out
@@skiez7430 in black mesa it looks amazing to me but I haven’t played it yet but indeed it was crap in hl1
