Well done, this is how I do comparison, opening multiple tabs and comparing side by side. Nothing replaces the test ride. Just took possession of a 2009 Allez Sport with 105 Compact and absolutely couldn't believe how close to smoothness it comes t my Bianchi EL Over Size with 97 Chorus. Still prefer Campy over Shimano.
Hello Shai, question , my new Caad8 we spoke about is awesome, I removed all reflectors because they are goofy looking and ive had problems in the past on other bikes with them rattling and falling off damaging my spoke, should I remove the so called dork disc as well , all guys I ride with said to remove it. Thanks
The dork disc protects the spokes in case of a chain drop and prevents the chain from getting stuck in between the cassette and the spokes, but I never needed it, since my drivetrain is fine tuned.
@SickBiker I have that Caad8 Tiagra, with still the stock Maddux RS 3.0 rims and c4 brake calipers. Would a 28c Gatorskin or Ultra Sport tire fit with no tire clearance issues? Curently using 25c tires.
Hello. Was wondering if you could either post a review comparison video on two bikes for me or reply here. I've done EXTENSIVE research on two bikes I'm choosing between. 2016 cannon dale caad8 105 5, or the new giant contend sl2( the black and blue one. Here's that catch, my bike shop said the caad is clearanced from 1460 and I can have it for $1100, vs the contend sl2 for 1050. Yes I realize geometry differences etc. thank u so much. Aly ( I'm a dude btw )
Very comparable. I appreciate the BB30 bottom bracket and SAVE system on CAAD8 though, that's why I would go for C'dale. But please remember - I'm a Cannondale freak ;)
ShaiBike thanks dude. I test drove both bikes yesterday and the Cdale won HANDS down!! I didn't want to get off of it, I am now a Cannondale fan. I put a deposit on it and can't wait to pick it up. Thanks a ton. Aly
Danny it seems that you and Cannondale made a mistake. The bike in your video you are referencing is the Cannondale CAD8 Tiagra, you can tell by the shifters. When you change the color to "Midnight" then that is the correct bike matching the specs (note the Sora name on the rear derailleur). Cannondale seems to have made a mistake when they uploaded the photos because the same colored bike is under tiagra level. Also when you look at the bike from from the CAD8 page it is a dark grey color ("Charcoal") which shows up in the description of the bike that you can choose the color. I hope that this clarifies things a bit more.
hey danny I was also choosing between this 2 I went on to save more money to get either this bikes really like both but reviews do say that e5 sport is better I really have no idea between this 2
This is really well done. I have bought two new bikes recently from my LBS and brought in a few new customers as well. They put up with my question barrage pretty well but have yet to explain competing alloy frame sets anywhere near this well. This is why they have not sold me either of these above bikes which they do stock. SInce I have to go online and teach myself the differences, my LBS will now be subject to what I offer in price and not earn as much profit by not taking the time to explain this stuff. Thanks for your many great vids. Now I know what to do as I really want an alloy race bike over a carbon frame. Also, my Cannondale dealer did mention that the Cdale website is full of specification errors which is even more confusing.
IMO, Caad 8 is better than lower end allez, equals to 2nd level frame, lose to DSW level allez (which compare head to head to Caad10). The highest level frame, Allez sprint is there to compete with CAAD12.
Am mostly an endurance rider and comfort is key of course but friends want to start doing same riding I do; Since you seem to like most caads, between Caad 8's or Synapses in alloy frames whats Your choice Mr CannonDany?
First of all. Very helpful videos. You got me hooked. Second, could you please tell me which one would you recommend between SCOTT SPEEDSTER 20 (105) and BMC TEAM MACHINE ALR01 (Tiagra). In Switzerland they have the same price so...? I would really appreciate it. Thanks. Links below. SCOTT - www.scott-sports.com/global/en/products/241456021/scott-speedster-20-bike BMC - www.bmc-switzerland.com/int-en/bikes/road/altitude-teammachine-alr01-tiagra/
+Andrés Durán they both are great bikes! Take the brakes and gears off from your mind for a second and only think about the frames =) chose the frame design that you like more... As in terms of weight and stiffness ratio of those two frames, i bet they are very close to each other. Now, brakes and gears... #cannondany made a video comparing 105 and Tiagra... (ps, i own a 105 road bike too) there are pros and cons about those two shimano sets. 105 brakes has dual pivots but you cant really tell the difference comparing to Tiagra's strong single brake... 105 has a good front derailleur but poor rear detailleur compared to Tiagra... and Tiagra set is slightly lighter than 105. I highly recommend you to search that video from #cannondany... so basically, they are all the same overall. And thats why i chose BMC cuz i just like its design by my personal preference xD
As a Speciallized Allez E5 Sport owner, one thing you missed is the Flex Tube aluminium frame used on E5 Sport that creates a rhythm (or balance) that makes you want to keep pedaling more and more at a certain consistant cadence speed. But definitely, Speciallized E5 sport is not as great on comfort as CAAD8... and both bikes are very stiff Thank you so much for such a great comparison video! ps: i got lifetime frame warranty on my E5 allez sport
+cannondany another problem I noticed are the the brakes they are a bit wooden, do you think that is because they are cannondale c4 brakes? are those cheaper then the tiagra brakes?
There is one available at my LBS for shade under USD 1000. Is that a good deal in your opinion? This will be first road bike so prefer a more relaxed fun ride and something that will get me hooked!
+FRANCIS MEL yes I think this would be an exelent bike of biginner(I am a biginner too and I really liked my this bike so far.) but maeby you can look ad the cannondale synapse tiarga 2016 it is the same price I think. but it more comfortable and very versitale and has disk brakes. good luck with searching.
i own a caad 8 with 105 gs, couldn't be happier with my choice.

Thanks for sharing :)
I contemplated this exact decision. Ended up with a Trek Emonda ALR XD
all comes down to the rider . nice review. I have the specialized allez sl comp and love it!
Do you know if the caad8 claris can be updated with BB30?
Hello Shai, question , my new Caad8 we spoke about is awesome, I removed all reflectors because they are goofy looking and ive had problems in the past on other bikes with them rattling and falling off damaging my spoke, should I remove the so called dork disc as well , all guys I ride with said to remove it. great, can you make a video on CAAD8 vs Giant advance TCR? Would appreciate to see the pros & cons between the two :-)
Modern Medicine you do know one is carbon and the other is aluminium and two total different price points
@SickBiker I have that Caad8 Tiagra, with still the stock Maddux RS 3.0 rims and c4 brake calipers. Would a 28c Gatorskin or Ultra Sport tire fit with no tire clearance issues? Curently using 25c tires.
Dany can you make a video about pros and cons on different tyres sizes both for road and cyclocross/gravel bike
Cannondany, Thank you so much !! Great video, really helped me in my decision in purchasing ! Sorry for the 3 comments, i think it was a bug !
Allez Sprint vs new Allez DSW SL vs Allez DSW vs CAAD12? Stiffness/compliance/etc?

Is there anyway you might do a review of the BMC RM 03 I really love the look of this bike but don't have the deep pockets for the RM 02.

+Bryan Gabiga Oh, thanks Brian. I missed that one ;)
What crankset is that at 12:40?
+Kaushik Ramkumar That's a cool looking Fsa Gossamer Pro.
Is it possible to fit 105 crank with stages power meter with sora crankset??
What's your opinions on bikes from Planet X like the pro carbon
what are the best budget wheels when we want to upgrade our budget bike??
+Esseker Fit
but i don't know how much is budget but IMO,
less than 400$ -> Campagnolo Zonda
less than 600$ -> flo 30 or chinese carbon wheels
hey danny I was also choosing between this 2 I went on to save more money to get either this bikes really like both but reviews do say that e5 sport is better I really have no idea between this 2
the caad 8 has a more upright position so it is more comtable and I like the paintjob more then the one on the allez
me too i was wondering to get the 2015 one or the new 2016 as danny said there is new shimano groups
How about allies elite is it worth 14oo hundred us dollars

I would love a Caad8 with campagnolo veloce groupset
do it!
so the guy from the channel that's named Cannondany chose to go with the Cannondale...... no plot twist on this video
519blackpanther at least he is honest xD
Ese man se hizo bolas con este tema.

Hilarious. A Cannondale fanboy does a versus between a bike from Specialized and Cannondale. I wonder which bike gets the win...?
+CW SK Hi, I do love Cannondale, but I'm trying to give the viewers an honest review :)

sorry for joining in your question xD but my opinion would chose BMC tiagra
Hi Thanks for the input. Can you elaborate?
+Andrés Durán

+smokay cora Great, thank you for this comment!
I have the cannondale caad 8 tiagra and I realy like the bike! my only complain is that I don't like the sadle
+charles landuyt That's the part I usually replace with my favorite model.
+cannondany I will do that probably to in the future.
+cannondany another problem I noticed are the the brakes they are a bit wooden, do you think that is because they are cannondale c4 brakes? are those cheaper then the tiagra brakes?
