The Terminal Building is one of the finest examples of Art Deco in the country. I enjoy eating brunch at The Runway Cafe and watching the small airplanes takeoff and land while eating.
I hope you enjoyed NOLA airspace. 50 yrs ago, when I got my Private with many flights onto & out of Lakefront, airspace control was quite different than today. Commercial Jet traffic and GA flew together,1st come 1st served. In NOLA, the dangers, etc, were greatly remediated by designating Moiszant (Loius Armstrong) into a primarily commercial field with Lakefront a GA facility. The Causeway made an idea dividing point for separating differing capability aircraft. Jets to the west, GA to the east.
I was watching the video and was wondering if you guys were gonna stop at the restaurant, or just hit the subway. nice flight, and it was cool to see those T 45s!
another place I want to see. But I’m slowly knocking them off my list; just back from Albuquerque balloon fiesta and Leadville, Colorado… a real high for me. 😉
Lakefront can and does present challenges. Often, there are strong, gusty crosswinds and disturbing and unexpected turbulence of wind eddying around buildings & hangers. Takeoffs northward toward the lake at night will find you in a dark void with little orientation. The same is true for daytime as often there is thick haze, even on " clear days."....Many planes have been lost over Pontchartrain due to Spatial Disorientation. I consider those flying in here wise to be proficient in control of aircraft solely by instruments. Hell of a place to get the "leans" into Lakefront as I did once. Held on white knuckled were for a few momenrs....ugh

It really was beautiful. Wish I’d explored it a bit.

Nice my home base. Welcome to New Orleans.
Lucky you, we love the city! Thanks for watching.
Got my PPL at Lakefront Airport in 1984
Definitely on the list of places to visit. Maybe next spring it will fit in. Thanks for sharing.
Highly recommend it! And of course New Orleans is great.
Thanks for the ride along.
I did some of my initial Navy training at Meridian back in the early 80’s. Ended up being stationed in New Orleans in the 90’s. Nice flight.
Nice restaurent "Messina's Runway Cafe" inside the newly restored airport terminal building.
Thanks for the intel! We'll remember that for next time. And thanks for watching.
Great trip!
I picked up some internal fans for those GoPros - haven't had an overheating issue since.
Yeah I’ve since gotten a unit from Camcooler. Looks cumbersome but works really well.
Great video with excellent airmanship and radio work, as always!
Thanks, Peter!
Great video - KNEW is a great airport to visit

Oh wow. I guess I got lucky with nice visibility both days. I’m guessing summer tends to be hazier and smoggier. Thanks for watching!
