    Soo cool. I love how you improvised with the hinges, genius! Looking forward to see the quail hatch.

      Yea those hinges worked out great and are so unique. We really hope that the quail hatch...11 more days to go. Super nervous about that! Thanks!

    I've had quail over a year now they are a fun goofy little bird. I hope your eggs hatch. i'm currently collecting some eggs to get ready to incubate this year.Add a little bit of some diatomaceous earth to the sand (some not a lot) to kill any mites that they may get.

    • @diyfferent
      @diyfferent  7 років тому +1

      We hope they hatch too, especially with that horrible way they were shipped! Thanks for the tip about the diatomaceous earth. :) :)

    Genius...however in the far distant future a bewiddled repair man will use fancy words to describe the creator of the masterpiece. I know because I've been hired to repair a few genius projects.
    My advice to anyone like that..."run away".
    Nice work Einstein. 😉

    You are incredibly innovative with problem solving. You do not look old and I am wondering how you learned so much skill at such an age? And, how can you squat your body while you work and not lose balance? It is almost like you are doing yoga at the same time you build. I like how you and your wife work well together.

    You are very talented. I love to watch people build. As a female, I will be trying to build this summer. I can really get into this. Are you a carpenter by trade or do you just like building? Love you guys b/c you are so real. I hate fake youtubers. By the way I'm missing your video's. We need an update. Did you move into your new home yet? hows it coming along? hurry back!!

      Thank you! We don't like fake UA-camrs as well. There is a lot of fake homesteading channels, just something to keep in mind. We finally just got internet today after 2 weeks of living at the new property. We ended up having to go with a different internet provider because the first one kept delaying over and over again. We have a video all ready to go and it should be uploaded soon. :)

    how are you going to keep the sand area clean..? they'll lay eggs wherever they please lol.
    I always use what I have on hand too, you should see my workshop! its everyone dream workshop

    • @diyfferent
      @diyfferent  6 років тому +1

      The sand is the best thing we have found to use for bedding for chickens and quail. Keeping it clean is easy - just scoop and sift using a cat litter scoop, works wonderfully and never smells.

    Love this!! I want to add quail to our farm and I think I am going to build one similar! :) do you by any chance have written plans for it? If not I can get hubby to do the math for me. I love to build but math is not my best subject so I always round up when adding up for supplies tonmake sure I have enough. But we are trying to save $. So I give him my drawn plans and he is better at not buying to much :). Or making small adjustments that let us use our scrap pile instead of spending $. :)

    I was wondering if you took this to your new home? Or did it stay? Been watching older episodes. I haven't seen many of the older ones yet. Also what was the show's name when you started? I know that the name for a while was OITC. What was it before that? And it is cool seeing Maverick and Belle in the older episodes.
