I saw him open for Pete Davidson in New Brunswick, in January. Pete was funny an engaging and had some outrageous moments, but Ricky had the audience in stitches. I couldn't stop laughing. Love this guy.
Because he attempted offensive comedy and didn't do it well. There's a couple of really good ways to do offensive comedy. You either take it so far out of the realm of reality that you can't be offended by it a la Daniel Tosh or BIll Burr, or you make it about yourself, like what Pete Davidson, or Chappelle does. They take offensive topics and make it about themselves so you don't piss off your audience. Ricky just straight up made fun of people living with something that can completely ruin your life. He belittled a condition and dismissed it, even though there were probably people in the audience who were struggling with it and went to the show to forget about it for awhile. Any comedian will tell you that's not how you do that form of comedy, so it's not surprising that people weren't laughing. The way he wrote his jokes turned the crowd against him.

I’m sorry but no. In the early 90s, there was an entire rap song about living in the hood with anxiety. "My mind is playing tricks on me." What, y’all don’t remember that?
he said himself he smokes weed to deal with his anxiety, which a lot of folks in the hood do too along with other drugs i think he was just playing with hyperbole like a lot of comics do. it grabs people like clickbait cause it comes off as controversial when he'd probably agree with you if you actually sat down and had a convo with him
mahogany sweets Oh god. It just really depended on the day. It could feel like the flu on crack at times. I couldn’t barely sleep. I had freezing night sweats. That part was the absolute worst. I would feel like I was freezing but I would be drenched with sweat which just made me more miserable feeling. My anxiety spiked worse while coming off of it. So did my paranoia. I have epilepsy already. Going cold turkey make my seizure surge for a few months. It took a couple of months for my body to readjust.
@@AmberAmbwee wow a few months going through that? You're super strong and courageous!!!! Congratulations on being healthy. I know that had to be scary

I recall hearing a comedian say a similar (or identical) joke about 20 years ago, whereby the punchline was 'swatting those babies down'. I can't recall the name but am curious! In the middle of the routine, his voice and style were very similar to Bill Burr.
Ash Chaya I can confirm that being on the train drunk and/or high in NYC can be rough. Daytime it’s just weird and judgy vibes, nighttime it feels like you’re either on set of a music video or a horror movie.

This guy's material was super polished and funny! I don't understand why the audience was holding back
Too hood, he needed to be more universal so more people could identify.
His delivery needs some work. He seemed very nervous at first but got better as he started to relax and get into his routine. I loved his material.
It was cuz of the shiny thing jingling out of his ass.
@@aquasky1138 I mean for a guy with anxiety he did great
Sometimes I think the recording ends up just making the laughter sound a little muted, which can make these sets feel weird
"It was semen nine months ago, let's give it a bath"
There's so much anxiety in the hood.
Exactly, that's why the "hood" is a MESS and that's why everyone in the "hood" is so scared that someone out to get them
KCMC92 that’s not anxiety that’s paranoia. They’re two different conditions
@@Christian-qd9sv but paranoid people are often anxious. Anxiety is a symptom of paranoia

He’s got a Hannibal Burris type delivery

And then immediately switches to hannibal buress
yeah because he's a hack

Coke on a baby's soft spot is hilarious!!
He sounds like John Mulaney’s gay homeless man with AIDS (that’s also new in town) impression.
He stole Anthony Clark - 1995 standup
Jeremiah Aldape I got that 😂😂😂
Omfg I’m dying 😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I got anxiety I just turned to him and said “no thank you “
“ I don’t wannabe the second string quarter back for this kid”

Not in the hood
"Kick the baby!" xD
Papa Grounds - should totally be the title of his Netflix special... 😂🤣😂

Deserves way more than the audience gave.
Awesome.
Where my Boricuas at 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷
